Just a question about the boat/motor. Do you feel comfortable taking your boat inshore, to the jetties and through the ship channel out there in Galveston? Would you feel comfortable taking it a little longer distance like from Bayou Vista to the island? I go down to Galveston every month and have the opportunity to buy a 14' Jon with that same exact engine from a buddy of mine.
It would do great, but your putting a 6hp on a 14 footer, so you will probably want to prop it up, but they’re great motor, I have one in my 10 foot fibreglass boat

The boat was loaded with one person 195lbs, ( 2 ) fishing poles,cooler (full),tackle box,battery,fish finder,chair,6ft cast net and bucket,tool box,push pole,anchor, 3 gallon gas can ( full ).The floors are 1/2 inch plywood with carpet. Plus the motor is too low, was getting some splash back/ i will raised the motor 3 inches.with a homemade jack plate,and retest.
let me know with the prob change. small engines work best with stock.my bigger boats the probs where needed to get the kind of power you want .low,med,top.

Yamaha had a promotion extending the 3 year warranty to 5 years and 10% off so before tax the motor was 1715.00 after tax it was about 1850.00 but that promotion ended in april. The Honda BF6 is no longer on the market for sale.

the valve on top is the air , so the fuel does not get air lock,just open and close it.

on a 14ft or 16ft I would feel safe, with one or two people, 12f only one person, Motor is great it`s the size of the boat.

the tohatsu is made by OMC/johnson/evinrude, i was looking at it but went with the F6, its more expensive but yamahas are the best you can get

what type of prop is on your motor, mine is a 7 1/2x 7, I ordered a 7 1/2 x 8, I was wondering cause I have the same set up, but not same speed
