Some people in the comment section need to check lost and found. Maybe someone turned in their compassion.
💯 I can’t believe what I am reading in the comments! 🤦♀️
If you ever read the comments for any natural disaster from the state of California hate is all they get. I do have an issue with the South. They support a presidential candidate who says climate change is a hoax. All I keep hearing over the last few years is how “ they have never seen weather like this before” yeah maybe we are the cause. I still feel for the people but they do nothing to change things they only make it worse.
That's the sickness Congress is spreading over America. Desenseatation. and hatred divided by the devil in them ➕
Can't find what they probably never had.
Indeed!!!!
I fit 4 dogs into my escape along with myself and my essentials...
Currently in contact with each their people, all these good doggies will be reunited in a day or two

Great job! My friend rescued a dog during the storm here in Georgia. No collar but microchipped and the owner got her. There are good people in this world!
I doubt they can take their animals at this point.
I'm on the coast of NC. NEVER did I imagine the west of this state would look like that. It's unreal.
Right there with you!!!
This is Biltmore village which is right outside the gates to the historic Biltmore house. This place is pron to flooding so in bad times it gets the worse of the worst. Some places are worse off than others. It depends on how much rain you got. The average is about 15 inches. Others got between 10 and 30 inches.
I'm on the coast too. I thought for certain that we'd get hit the worst. I'm praying for the victims of this horrible disaster.
@@roger5322 i had no idea. I just thought "It's a mountain town: it'll be OK."

Thank you for showing this video. It breaks my heart to see such 😢 devastation. I pray for many and hope many people are found alive within the missing. Stay strong, NC.
It’s hard to believe that last week everything was normal. How quickly life can change.😢
Can you imagine having a home there and being surrounded by mud? Wow.
If it's still there@@crand20033
😢 Where does one even BEGIN the clean-up? So, so terribly heartbroken for everyone...
You begin at the beginning. You pick up a piece of debris, and start stacking it up.
At this point, it seems impossible. They will get it done, though. It will take some time, but Asheville will restore it’s community.
I would start by making sure that Don Old Donkey Never works in Washington Again ..

I’m living in Asheville and my own home flooded . This is so eery to look at all these places I know so well and know that so many other people are living the same pain I am.
I am overwhelmed by the level and breadth of this devastation. I pray that God will help us pull together as a country to assist those most impacted by Helene in rebuilding their lives and communities despite the incredible challenges that lie ahead.
The devastation is beyond comprehension. We get sad when a local thunderstorm brings down a tree or two, or breaks off a few branches. But this is sorrow, and shock and grief at a level too deep for words.
Humans keep destroying every natural thing. Nature is fighting back and nature will always win in the end coz humans came from nature; not the other way round 😅..

Who else LOVES these silent videos without the narcissistic narrators and no music? 💖💖💖💖
Me
Some narration is fine especially if it’s an update of the situation, because it’s hard to find that sort of thing.
I don’t know if “love” is the correct word to use here. I’d rather there be no destruction and no need for such videos. 😢
It almost seems disrespectful to speak in such devastation it seems almost sacrilege. You have to succumb to the sadness and the silence. You don’t want a commentator constantly babbling describing what is already in front of you.
True, but many would find it informative to know where these shots are from.
I was initially born in the area, went to university and lived in Asheville for 6 years. The day before the storm hit, last thursday I was there doing deliveries for my job, passed that Walgreens on Tunnel Rd several times, had a great sandwich at a place just up the road. So many places and memories, mine and others, just washed away. Though I had to move out, this city and the area still has my heart and it bleeds so much for the safety of those who still call Asheville home

The lumber may not be feasible. It could be warped, out of square, or waterlogged, etc. Plus, there are so many chemicals and bacteria in the water with no way to treat the lumber so it is safe to use. Worked disaster assistance for the Federal Government and I’ve seen a lot of destruction.

If there’s one thing that’s become painfully obvious it’s that the emphasis on wind speed when judging the severity of hurricanes is a poor indicator at best. It’s the water, whether in the form of a tidal surge or a torrential rainfall and the accompanying flooding that causes the most damage, both to infrastructure and people’s lives, as well as the death toll.
As you look at this, imagine your own community and every single favorite place, wiped out and neighborhood after neighborhood, flattens. This is so overwhelming. I feel for these people, our fellow Americans.
God bless them all - this is heartbreaking & I feel their devastation as bad as this is there is always hope & alternate ways to get by - I've had to move 16x since 1987 due to destruction & just endured another massive flood myself on July 4th of this year - I've decided I'm tired of working so hard to watch it all get destroyed & have started researching van life - I can travel & work on the road & leave when the weather gets bad - it's nice to live & have a community to come back to but loosing it all doesn't mean life still can't be good - sending prayers to all those suffering & grieving right now & hoping they have the will to keep on keeping on!
Been there. Almeda fire 2020.
I feel for these people, Myself and my parents have been here as well. I was 6yrs old and we lost everything in the Flood of 85 in WV. I remember someone beating on our door really early in the morning (between 4 and 5 am) telling us the river was rising and to get out now. we lived a couple hundred yards from the Cheat river. Within minutes the water was coming through our basement door. By 10 am our house and literally 99% of the town Albright WV was literally wiped off the map. Flooding like that was never seen before, nor since. I can't remember the storms name but it was caused by the remnants of a stalled hurricane just like this was.
It looks as though the more historical buildings held up relatively well. Maybe they will be able to save some of them. I have family there and they finally got through to me this morning. This is just devastating.

I went through Ian and thank God we didn’t get our home flooded. The water is the worst of any storm…
Wow! What immeasurable destruction. Grant Lord all strengtjh hope, to go through this!
You are right the water damage is the worse not the wind.
There was flooding in somes places even before Helene arrived.
Water/flooding/storm surges cause more death and destruction than the wind or even the tornadoes these things whip up.
I worked disaster mgt in Florida for 20+ years. This is as bad or worse than most storms I worked. Resembles Cedar Key (who also had a bad storm surge from Helene) in Kate and Elena. I think it was Kate, we went in even before the storm had moved out completely, because so many people in Cedar Key, the beaches and the town of Suwannee, refused to evacuate…mostly older folks who probably had no way out. We found a handful of survivors, 12 deceased in those first hours. We had several older men living in an old, still standing Victorian home. Their first floor was devastated…but they’d lived there all their lives..I think they were brothers. They had moved a lot upstairs and refused to leave…the county officials had actually given us their names and address to check on them..but in a moment of levity, had written that we wouldn’t get them to leave, so don’t try. They had food in coolers, non-perishables, large 20gal jugs of water downstairs, but a bunch of gallons upstairs. They promised us they’d be fine, their library was upstairs and they planned on reading, cooking on their camp stove or grill on their balcony…this was long before social media or even “prepping” was a thing and it fascinated me. They gave me an old book on storing food..I treasured that book for many years. And while my kids, family and friends have teased me over the years and said I was crazy to always have emergency supplies…I’ve lost track of the MANY times my supplies came in handy not just for me, but having enough to share with neighbors.
Stock up a little at a time and you can do it even on a small fixed income.
It was the runoff. The valleys filled up with water in hours. I used to live in south Asheville and have been threw some bad storms. Very sad! My wife and daughter were just there a couple of months and said how beautiful it was there. My heart goes out to this place and people there!
From Michigan, our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by this!
From Cat 4 Hugo in 1989, 22 ft storm surge. We The People come back, one step at a time. Trust the Lord, help each other, and accept help that's on the way.
Good advice!
Hugo was beyond description. I'm from Charleston and my family evacuated to Columbia. We returned home 5 days later to a wasteland. By some miracle, our home had sustained relatively little damage but some homes in the neighborhood were destroyed. All of that suggested that tornadoes had done the damage.
@@vivianpowell1732 Hugo took down 18 tall trees in my back yard - in Charlotte! It was my first experience during a hurricane, and it sounded like a freight train as it rolled through. Surprisingly, my house was not damaged.
@@edwardmarquis4411 My family evacuated to Columbia and stayed with relatives there. The night that Hugo made landfall in Charleston County at midnight, I was in a guest bedroom and the whole night sounded like freight trains were roaring beside the house.
This looks post apocalyptic. Very sad
To have heard birds singing was ironic. 😢
If humanity is ever wiped out the birds will be singing the next day.
@@josephastier7421As it should be.
Friday afternoon, the deer were finding their way around the fallen trees on my property.
Birds swooping and enjoying they survived.
It is amazing how resilient they are.

My heart goes out to all these people affected by this hurricane! Praying for the families who have lost loved ones!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Seeing this breaks my heart. I visited in 90s and again in 2016. The artists who have all their beautiful arts and crafts there.....everyone's businesses, livelihoods, swept away. But nothing more valuable than people's lives. I pray for lives to have been spared, for immediate needs to be met, for love and support for all needing it, for healing and strength to get through each day. I pray that people will be reunited with their beloved pets and other loved loved ones. We need to come together as a country of Americans and help one another.
All those folks out of work
Yes! All the jobs lost. And you know they are living pay check to pay check like so many of us.
That’s another thing no one thinks about……thousands out of work now.
I watch this video and all i see is work.
There is going to be nothing but work as we recover.
Wait until the crooked AIPAC politicians tell them theres no help we dont know how we are going to pay for that but send billions to the most crooked country in Europe and the country committing a jen @ s1d3. Just remember this we sent Ukraine a pallet of cash $15 billions CASH to pay for all government workers salaries their healthcare and pensions this is a FACT not once in 2 years of the unwinnable proxy has a politicians said HOW ARE WE GONNA PAY FOR IT.
I don't need a video I'm living it Hendersonville looks just like that pretty much
Blessings and Strength.
My wife and I were there and in the surrounding areas (Brevard & Waynesville), and east TN a few days before. We were looking for land to build our retirement home. It now looks like there won't be any available contractors for the next two years. I am thankful we did not put a contract on a piece of property.
@@williamb8394good for you ....??!
I was thinking of moving to that area to get away from the coast (now near Hilton Head). I thought that would be a safer area away from hurricanes, but I guess not now! That's one of the most beautiful areas of the country and so sad to see what happened.
God bless them all. This is heartbreaking
Well, there ya have it, all their problems are solved.
So Devastating Praying for you all. ❤
I can’t imagine the pain and heartache these people are going through. Please everyone pray for these people tonight 🙏🏼
This is all within 5 minutes from my home..

@@EpicTech-AI I'm about 30 minutes away and just got power back a few hours ago. I think I heard the ETA is Friday evening for the whole area to be restored.
Ouch. This is going to be a long haul for ya'll. (Yes, I have a firm grasp of the obvious.)
