In one hurricane in Hawaii, some areas of the Big Island didn't have power restored for three months. My area was phenomenally fortunate to be without power for only six days straight. Our water company back then had recently installed emergency generators so at least we had safe water to drink even when the power as out. My on-demand, self-powered, propane water heater provided our home hot showers and cleaning water even with no power to the building. I thank the Lord for the 8000 FEMA workers in NC and all throughout FLA and others on the ground making recovery move forward. With Aloha...

@@AB-ol5uz The FEMA declaration was signed four days before the storm hit, this type of disinformation is only harming those who need help the most. Thank you for telling this story that needs to be told. It looks so familiar to me--I've never been to Asheville but I remember what it was like here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast after Katrina. It's so painful to endure a natural disaster like this, and it takes a long, long time to recover. Keeping prayers and good hopes for everyone to stay strong.
Thanks for getting the news out about the level of damage in the area. We had no idea just how badly everyone was impacted. Our prayers are with you all for restoration as quickly as possible. God bless 👍💖🙏
Jason, your video report here demonstrated how disastrous the flooding was in North Carolina. We had a really terrible flood in Delaware County NY in 2006 but this is clearly so much worse. My heart goes out to all the victims.
I remember when you and Lorraine had a shop in Asheville , this at the moment looks surreal , total devastation. Our prayers are with all of you , people of NC , and all of those affected by hurricane . Keep faith 🙏 . God can make everything new , better than it ever was . That's our prayer .
Thanks for doing this and making folks aware and doing it in a non-political way. Any survivor of a disaster like this will tell you the best part is how Americans come together and help each other at times like this. They will also tell you that it will never be the same and few if any will be made whole again. However they also say it comes back better than before and the losses will be less than they thought in the moment. I went through two tropical storms and a cat three hurricane in one year back in the eighties and it felt devastating in the moment. The eye of the hurricane came straight over my house five blocks off of Galveston Bay at 130 plus winds in the eye wall both times. It was miserable going for weeks without power or water. Everything was hard and hot and sweaty in August. We got flooded in the house all three times. You clean up, and wait for the insurance check, do all the work of rebuilding and a few months later it is gone again. But the strong will get it done and keep going. Back then we did not have Go Fund Me and such but people pitched in. There is no Red America, no Blue America, there is only The United States of America. Or at least that is how it should be. One thing I will say is document everything and apply for all help ASAP. Most of those small businesses will need their insurance of course but that is never enough. They will not get much from FEMA except personal help but they should get ZERO INTEREST LOANS from the SBA if they want to rebuild and restock. Just ordering in and restocking inventory is a huge burden if you have to borrow from a bank at today's rates, but it is much easier with SBA loans and grants. Is the paperwork a pain? Absolutely! But is it worth it once on your feet? Definitely. Build back better and certainly higher. This will happen again at some point. Every year of my life has new record high water somewhere. We can no longer look to historical records to predict the future. Sorry but that is reality everywhere.
Jason! Thank you so much for going into the 'war zone' to show us the damage and getting to hear from those impacted! Thank you too for the links to support. It has been so hard watching but unable to go and help in person but you have been the boots on the ground for us. I will be donating and continuing to pray for everyone. You are a hero IMHO.

It’s going to take a lot of help and time to restore some semblance of normal. I hope to return as soon as it is feasible!
Thank-you for giving us the opportunity to see real life there.
Thank you Jason, you did an outstanding job of showcasing the area, as it is today. Special thanks for updating the #WestEndBakery story. They are doing a wonderful thing👏😊
My granddaughter and her boyfriend were in West Jefferson NC and the devastation there was so bad. They got out finally, but some didn’t make it, so heartbreaking!! 💔 😢🙏

Thank you for bringing us along. We appreciate you.
My granddaughter and her family live between Saluda and Asheville. They are safe. Dealing with the circumstances like everyone else.
May God bless these people with more than they had,…❤
You've done an excellent job showing it Jason.
Bless you for doing this! I know the people you talked to will appreciate what you're doing for the community, Jason.
I remember when you and Lorraine had a shop in Asheville , this at the moment looks surreal , total devastation.
Our prayers are with all of you , people of NC , and all of those affected by hurricane . Keep faith 🙏 . God can make everything new , better than it ever was . That's our prayer .
Jason you did a wonderful job. Oit opened my eyes 🙏💞🙏
Thank you for sharing our experience Jason! We appreciate all you are doing for the Asheville and surrounding communities ❤️🙏🏼
I do not generally comment on videos but.... you make one HELL of a reporter.
Keeping the prayers going out to y’all 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️
Thank you for sharing this Jason. My heart and prayers go out to all affected by Helene. Stay safe and stay strong. 🙏🏼
It’s so heartbreaking..
So sad what water can do as Americans to see how we do come together ❤️ thanks for sharing I've been watching and praying 🙏 love from Virginia ♥️
Praying for all of them. Thank you for this video.
Thank you Jason for sharing! So grateful you took the time to share! Am praying for all the storm victims!💜🙏😊
