one of the most major time waster for me is the thought that "I've wasted a lot of time already", which causes anxiety and as a result you end up wasting the remaining time as well.
Just do everything like me,all things i want to do i start doing early in the morning.By 3-4 p.m. i am done so rest of time i will spent playing video games and going out with my friends
Yes and no. Perhaps the West has "succeeded" more than the East (who values the present supposedly), because they reviewed the past to learn from their mistakes and planned for (the good and bad) of the future. Dwelling o the past and worrying, though, are life/time wasters.
This video qualified for 3 of the 4 listed time sinks : 2. TV - watched it on Chromecast 3. TH-cam via Internet 4. Social Media - this comments section
The thing is, when i get trapped in internet blackhole, i end up looking at random videos that kick dopamine to its top and i start living in a completely different world consumed by some frenzy. Then i start daydreaming. And when i decide to study again, it's already 12 past midnight. Then i become sad and depressed, knowing that i can't even give energy to things that are REAL.
Omg dude yes I feel so dark when I get over stimulated from playing too many video games. All the sudden I just feel like I don’t appreciate life sometimes part of it is being tired though
Ist it a waste of time to relax mind and body when a person needs it? Of course not. Is it a waste of time to sit on your butt relaxing all the time? Absolutely. As long as people understand that these kinds of activities need to be done in moderation then it really isn't a problem.
Thecasualist 😂 everything in moderation. Because we all know that these types of people are totally good at moderating. It’s always only going to be one episode. Only one TH-cam video. Right????
Nothing wrong with sitting on your butt and relaxing all the time as long as you don't surf the internet or something like that. If it is a waste of time, you'll end up being bored pretty quickly and look for something different to do unless you have things on your mind to sort out which means it's not a waste of time
True and genuine relaxation also does not come by consuming screen contents. If you want to relax thoroughly, shut everything off (read a book/listen to music)
I only discovered your videos this past Thursday (09/19/19), and have saved the four that I've watched. I find your comments and suggestions to be very helpful, and you do them in such a way that you don't demean anyone, but make everything encouraging. I very much appreciate that!
My life is falling into a deep pit. I can't find a way out. I don't watch TV, don't surf the internet, and don't interact with social media, but I'm immersed myself in the virtual world of the games because it gives me a pleasant feeling, this is similar to the male protagonist in the Avatar movie. I always go to it whether I'm in the mood or not. I also don't want to eat or sleep, I play to the point of exhaustion. I abuse dopamine for temporary emotional gratification. Sleep for me is just an escape from reality. After your videos, I'm finding myself back again. Thank you for what you bring. They are helping me a lot.
I think your channel is so underappreciated. Some people misunderstand this video in particular, as the advice seems cliche. But you cover it with the proper nuance that nearly everyone else misses: time spent with purpose is not time wasted. Not everyone who plays video games for 8 hours a day is wasting their time... but let's be real, most are! Because it's just out of habit at that point - perhaps even a borderline addiction.
Ive tried to set up tech free Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings. I realised suddenly how little I really talk to family and friends. I mean real listening and talking. We live past each other.
How is that decision you made a year ago going? Don't be too harsh on yourself if it's going badly. Do you need to recommit or maybe think of a different version of that idea.
@@tracesprite6078 going pretty well actually. Its a very practical, easy to follow arrangement. Smartphones and being hyperconnected is a massive slippery slope. We need to see the internet and social media as just tools. Use it when you need it. Don't 'browse' with no purpose. Its a time sink that you could have used on family or hobbies, that give much more fulfillment. Another tip, turn all cell notifications, except alarms, off. You can bulk catch up on Whatsap and SMS notifications when you decide. If it was important people would phone you. These micro interruptions wreaks havoc on focus and has a big time overhead per interaction.
@@krokodilpil8335 That's great that you are still maintaining that decision. So often we make decisions that seem good but find them very hard to implement. Anyway, you're succeeding in taming the Internet - at least in your own life!
I started watching a "Better than yesterday" vlog every day. It has helped me to get motivated and to stay motivated!! In the last 6 weeks of watching your vlogs, I have changed the way I do things and I am now much more productive with my time. Thank you.
1:03 It's not about how long people play games, it's about "are they trying to learn from it." If they don't learn, then they won't develop an alternative and productive way to entertain themself. You know what? I spent unhealthy 40 hours a week playing DotA, Touhou, and Granblue Fantasy from 2016 to 2019. Thats more than 6000 hours. Currently, I'm studying Information Engineering, Time division and money management, Piano MIDI (just look in my profile), I drew my own profile picture, N4 Japanese and Cultural modernization, and capable of avoiding useless money sinks. What did those game do? None, but I gave it meaning more than just entertainment. Dota have initiative training and economy management, Touhou have musical prowess in artistic vision and fingering tempo, GBF tempers my patience. Also, they are insanely hard to enjoy, pushes people to go beyond. Within a year, I tried to go beyond the game and applies the most ridiculous life lessons I learnt into a practical life skills to influence people and for two years with my similar friends, we're making our Javascript mobile applications together. I'm betting my ass, that people can and should try to learn even from video games.
And you can watch good television shows too, documentaries or something philosophical etc. Social media is 100% a waste of time though, I wish there would just be sites where people make friends instead
@IceFaiey Fan U r totally right, even i play video games for the same purpose but actually people just don't understand especially the one who don't play games n actually most of the people who play games just play them for time pass, they don't learn anything from it It's actually really sad when u can also learn many things but u only see 1 side of the story
Exactly...with a learning and adaptive mindset, you can learn from almost anything!!! Anything to the extreme becomes destructive and toxic... life is all about walking the fine line of chaos and order!
You spent 6000 hours .. hmm.. with having a 3 x45 minutes lessons per week for a language for lets say 4 years - 0,75 x 3 x 4 x 10 x 4 years = 360 hours to master a laguage for highschool standards. This lead me to thinking, what you can achieve with nearly 17 such a slots (6000/360 ) ... and still be able to do all the studying you mentioned above. And these 17 timeslots just in span of 2016-2019 .. more timeslot (probably wasted) to come. :)
I remember 2 years ago when I would wake up, then start playing video games,I would play the whole day and when I saw the time it was dinner time and my sleep would be affected by staring at the screen all day long. I would waste my weekends like that on video games. It's best to play for a limited time only .
This is very subjective, if you are happy at your core with what you do, regardless of if it is gaming every second your not at work, then that is success as our only goal in life is to be happy really, we do everything we do to try and be happy. So if lazing about grinning at tv and having beers on your day off truly brings you joy all the way to your core, then it's not a waste of your time. It's only a waste of time dependent on whether or not you have bigger goals that you push aside to do this and whether what your doing makes those goals take longer to achieve or ends it all together. If your willing to take longer to accomplish your goal if it means doing it in a more relaxed way then again your time is not wasted as you are happy and content. No one can tell you what is a waste of your time but you yourself and your level of happiness.
I really like your videos, but just wanted to mention that the concept of “productivity” is a very capitalist idea... Making good use of your time can mean engaging in self-care, or in the kind of “laziness” that leads to good mental health: spending time in nature, hanging out with friends, patting your dog, watching birds or traffic or people. Life doesn’t have to be the relentless pursuit of productivity.
I wouldn't say video games are a total time waste as the esports industry is getting bigger and bigger,if someone is talented at a video game he enjoys,it can become his job, doing what he really wants while earning a decent amount of money that could be whether by streaming/being a pro player/coaching etc
I just want to say this to people that still haven't found their purpose and feel that this video hits too close to home. These 4 things aren't time sinks by default. They are activities and should be treated as such. Just like playing tennis helps with coordination, playing first person shooters helps with spacial awareness. Getting out with friends helps with social interaction, watching a political debate may help with with critical thought. In my opinion, If someone asks me what I did yesterday, "increased my ladder rating", "watched a political debate/tvseries", "searched online for decoration ideas", "watched self improvement videos", are all perfectly valid responses. It's no different than "went for a walk", "went to the gym", "went for a drink". However, if you are feeling shame about those things, you should know that you are doing something wrong. And I'm not talking about the social maneuvering you may have to do so your future mother in law doesn't think you are a looser. I'm talking about feeling inferior. It's the lack of responsibilities that makes you feel inferior. I've been there, it's the worst feeling in the world, to feel that you don't have anything to offer. You need to add responsibility to your life. Even if you are in a tight spot, you live with your parents, you are unemployed, not doing well with your studies, find a way to be useful to your family. It's a start. Do the cleaning, the cooking, learn about taxes, help with groceries, be available and don't bite the hand that feeds you. You will eventually find your balance.
@@duggydugg3937 Would you consider playing chess online a time waster? If not why you wouldn't extend the same line of thinking to a competitive video game?
I don't agree. Sometimes we need to think or re-think our life in order to decide and know where we're going. If you never stop and reflect about your habits and on what you did till now you won't be able to do it.
But what if you are doing something that you don't enjoy? You can say "i'll just stop doing that", but in order to reach that conclusion, you need to think, and if thinking can get you out of what *you* consider a bad habit (something you don't enjoy or agree with), then it's not a waste of time.
Maybe I am just saying this because im a Game Designer, but we all need to take brakes and enjoy something besides work. Of course you can overdo it with these things, but being productive 100% of the time will give you burn out and make you unhappy too. As with everything in life, you need to strike the right balance. So if used as an enjoyable hobby that refuels you on your time off, I believe video games can be an asset to your life.
This is true. This week I was trying to avoid games and TH-cam, and by the second day was already needing a rest. I overscheduled my time and got more stress and less work done. Here is important to note the differences between personalities. There are some very productive workaholics that never need leisure, and others much less so.
"Where does all this video game time go? Nowhere productive, that's for sure" -> Idk, I've reached the top 99.5th percentile of players in a competitive esport. I learned a ton about the best ways to learn and improve that easily generalizes to learning outside of video games. At the same time I've learned to appreciate other competitive sports, and gained valuable knowledge on strategic thinking that also generalizes outside of video games. On top of all that, I've made a lot of new friends. Maybe your definition of "productive" should be a little broader.
Same! (Apart from being that high skill haha) It massively helps my mental health and I've made friends from all over the world. I've travelled and explored different countries as a result. It even spurred me to learn little bits of new languages! Investing in a gaming PC is one of the best things I've ever done for my mental stability. Saying video games are a waste of time is such a boomer take.
The problem with video games is that often they are done alone and you are physically inactive while playing them. While there are redeeming qualities that you CAN find (such as your examples) many people WON’T find those qualities.
@@think4181 internet friends are born from games,so no,u don't need to do it alone. I have made quite a few nice friends on the net although those relationships died when I left the game. In my eyes, games are just like socializing. At the same time, games with good lore can spark thought provoking sentiments. Also, staying still? Buy VR games, play while standing or walk while playing on the phone. Another charm of games is the ability to experience a completely new reality so you can take adventuring as a way to relax as not all can afford to.go abroad. At the end of the day though,it is up to the person to make the most out of it and it is the person's responsibility to manage their time. We cannot study from morning till night, the time spent won't maximize your learning ability.
I love that number. A long long time ago I learned it as I had to calculate time in an app I was working on. Cracked me up that you slipped this video in as a potential "time waster". For those of us working in this environment, it's DAMN EASY to get side tracked. This video for me was a "break" studying. However, I can identify many times where one leads to another, then the other, and so on. Staying in control and on track, is a challenge we should all rise to. Thank you. Great video. Back to studying.
Tip for game addicts! Play in a foreign language! I've been playing video games in French for years, it's taught me huge amounts, more vocabulary than any other resource that's for sure, using the addictive and engaging qualities of games to achieve a goal. It's also tiring so not only is game time productive (assuming you play a game that has a lot of dialogue like an RPG) but you also don't play quite as much as it makes you feel tierd. Give it a try!
1. Playing video games 2. Watching television 3. Using internet 4. Social media #3 is actually debatable. Learning is much more efficient with the help of internet resources. It depends on for what purpose you use the internet.
Like you said, debatable. Sure its a tool to learn. But learning can be just another form of entertainment. If you never apply what you learnt in real life, the time spent learning is no different then just watching cat videos, or whatever it might be. I know a lot of stuff about a lot of things, but that don't mean its useful in my day to day life, or aids me in my goals.
To be honest i cant agree on gaming is not giving you pleasure on longer time... we can take any competitive online game, where you can set your goals, and try to accomplish them! I mean if in league of legends you want to improve and get into higher division you need to put a lot time into, but when you accomplish you feel good. It is not giving you the extra benefits like excercising gives that is true, but mentally you can be satisfied
what do i get out of video games: a sense of accomplishment, a way to wind down, a way to fully dive into something else... playing runescape, it's also possible to find the most efficient and economic ways of playing, valuable lessons. say what you want, i'll still keep playing. i don't regret the time put into it. without it, i don't think i would enjoy life as much. you're totally right about limiting time.
You said "I read them all" and I instantly wanted to give you a huge thank you, even if it's too late now from the video upload. The tenderness of your voice while motivating us is great. My sincerest thank you.
There is another thing that we could add: sleeping. In holidays, I wake up late, which ruins my entire day. Please make a video about sleeping. I hate when this happens even if my body needs to rest.
1:47 'there's nothing worse than putting a ton of time into something, and having nothing to show for it' Just one of many great points in this clip, thanks for posting!
I’ve watched 5 different videos on how to stop wasting time and this is by far the best!! I sent it to my son who spends most of his free time playing video games and hope he takes your advice!
I personally love gaming, so I get a lot of benifit out of it, but I totally understand what you mean. I find balance works for me, so not only do I play my video games every day, I also read and meditate.
“Keep the faculty of effort alive in you by a little gratuitous exercise every day. Do every day or two, something for no other reason than that you would rather not do it. Everybody should do at least two things each day that he hates to do, just for practice.” "The Principles of Psychology", Chap IV Habit, William James, page 82 , in “Britannica Great Books”
I've given up on #4. But 2&3 get me for sure. I've started setting my timer based on your other video and got so much done - working for 45 min and resting for 15. I even told my kids, I can help you later. I found much more quality time was spent on my work and then their question. I've focused to only watch TH-cam if it is informative like this channel. I absolutely agree. My kids especially get sucked in for video games, kids you tube and Instagram. Once I take it away they are so more engaged in the world around them.
The Frugal Five - how do you take the video game and you tube away from your kids? I know that sounds easy but do you just take them away and tell them to go do something else?
I don't think playing video games is a waste of time in general. It can give you much more than just temporary pleasure and productive activities don't have to give you something you can show other people as it is said in the video. I'm grateful for all the experiences I got through video games, all the people I got to know through video games and all the stories I did not only read or watch but I lived through video games.
Yes. I was revolted with that being first in the list. But then at the end he says that as long as you do it because you want to, a conscious decision you are happy with, and not because it is a habit, it is ok. I play computer games with purpose =D
Yeah agree - "all work & no play, makes Jack a dull boy" comes to mind. As a recovering workaholic, I can say from experience, life feels pointless & miserable when all you do is work. Moderation is key. For sure, many of us spend too much time on leisure activities, and sometimes we even spend time on games or TV or social media that we only mildly enjoy. We should limit our time & be selective about what we watch or play or read.
@@havefaithinGod715 Yes he made that point at the very end, sort of as a final course correct, but for 90% of the video his point seemed to be that you should cut out entertainment & It's a waste of time.
@@karar7796 you say that like people should feel entitled to entertain themselves as much as they want and that's not a very productive mindset. Yes. Cut out the entertainment you don't get much out of it. Some people want to something significant with their lives and they look to these types of videos and quite frankly, it's good advice. Although avoiding entertainment like it's the devil isnt what he's implying . Rather, someone who's trying to actually be productive can set a limit or go out and earn their entertainment time by checking off a to do list first
To be completely honest, some of these videos I only watch because they will give me an ego boost. I don’t have a TV in my house, I don’t have a social media account and I don’t own a video game console nor do I have video games on my phone. I don’t think I’m better than anyone else, it just feels good to have the occasional reminder that I’m not a complete weirdo because I don’t participate in most of the things everybody else does.
I will argue with you real quick on Videogames. I take real lasting pleasure from becoming better and succeeding in videogames. I do this because I set a goal for how much I want to improve in the game. I get as much satisfaction from hitting Legend rank in Hearthstone as I do from being able to hit my goal in fitness. The important thing is focus on self improvement have a focus on the game and don't do it mindlessly. Find things that you can gain joy from after whatever it is you did is done for the day, week, month or year.
Everyone realises that the one thing bad for us is us being someone else so like In a tv or playing in a video game which just proves that we find our life boring and that is because we have got used to having a lot of dopamine, (there is a video on that, dopamine detox)
Thank you for this useful video. I agree with everything you said and it's weird that we are living in a society in where everything is prepared and we don't need so much time to cook for example and life is kind of annoying and we come to internet because it's cheap, easy and you can find everything to forget the empty time we have.... No, not everyone want to make big stuffs, like writing a book or learn a language, we just want to have some fun instead of tchatting or going to bad websites.. And being prisoner of the internet is a new thing of this society , who would have say that we are wifi prisoner Lol
These were all habits I had to give up and I was not even average! 1. I slowly cut down my video game time over about 4 years to none now besides the occasional mobile game. I have zero gaming systems now. I do hope to get back to a healthy point with gaming, but I realized for me it was a problem. 2. My only real TV is TH-cam or with my family watching something together. We cut cable years ago. I did it back in 2011. TH-cam can be a black hole, but that is what the watch later playlist is for! If it isn't good enough to watch later, it probably does not need to be watched right now. 3. 100% used to waste time on the internet reading news article or shopping for things I didn't need. 4. I never wasted too much time on social media because I just didn't really get it. I use some now and and am happy using less because what I do use I enjoy. I don't feel forced into using it. Doing all this has lead me to start my own website (and Twitter @centsoftime that I actually enjoy using!) focused on time and money. www.makingcentsoftime.com if you are interested. I don't want to take away from Better Than Yesterday though. This is a fantastic channel and I am so happy is growing at the rate it is!
I dont find any of thos activities bad , for example playing videogames 1 or two hours its not bad you just have to control yourselft, tv for example is good to watch national geographic , social media persobally is a waste unless you use it as a communication tool or as a medium to promote your work ( designer and illustrator in my case)
I am a procrastinator, I was told. So I decided to join a support group to rid of this bad habit. We will meet every Saturday but was put on hold for now.
I stopped playing video games and started watching youtube instead, BUT.. I only watch how to's and educational/motivational stuff. Now putting that knowledge into practice and I don't have much time for screens. Anxiety is gone and I'm much happier.
This video is what I need. No. 1 is probably my most time wasting activity. Gotta keep myself productive. Thanks sir for making me realize how fool I am.
We all have 24 hours in a day, and too many of us operate from the mindset that we have to do more and more. But it's much easier and more practical to have a "not to do" list, and leave room for the things that actually matter. Nice video.
I agree that they are the most wasteful time that we may replace on our priority list on our specific goal like accomplishing our dreams. Even though for gamers like me that willingly to improve skills rapidly and reach to the top. I just understand this content that he wants to open our eyes to the truth. And help us to avoid the misunderstanding. So, I have nothing to say.
I totally agree to all these points in the video. Everybody is using the Internet and social media these days, moderation and setting priorities is the key!
I honestly think the previous three are somewhat meaningful and beneficial depending on how and why you do it. Assassin's creed certainly boomed my historical knowledge. I learned like sooooooooooo much from it and it triggered many other beneficial activities such as reading historical book about the era the game was set in (and there are a lot). Same with television if you are watching with purposes like expanding your life experience and gaining knowledge. I started looking into Feynman's physics book and string theory after the big bang theory though only at the beginner's level, I still think it's good that I get to know something.
I've made a 2 minutes list, one item on the list is to set small daily tasks with longterm goals and to limit wasting time on the internet ! Now I'm going to take a quick shower, write down subjects to adres during a meeting, do some necessary chores and going out for a walk through the neighborhood ! And thanks to you I'm more aware that doing small bad-things is damaging in the long run. On my small goals list I have 5 times 2 minutes exercises, setting new eat-habits, watching one BTY-video on YT and minimized a few other tasks in order to reach a otherwise 'unobtainable' goal. Off to to the shower and on with all on my list !-) I've even put writing a postcard to friends or family as a 2 minute task :-) Your Englisch may have a peculiar accent, it is still a 100 times better than a computer voice ! Have a nice day Sir !
It depends what we're watching on TV. For example, I just spent 8 minutes and 12 seconds watching something productive and educational; this video. There's plenty to learn from television. I watch political news channels most of the time. But, even a fictional drama can teach social etiquette, manners, morals, etc. We can learn how to fix cars, how to cook, how to build houses, etc. from TV.
But that was the qualifier he said at the end; if what you're doing is productive to you, then it is not a waste of time. He was talking about the mindless hours many people spend, without even knowing where they've thrown time away, not about educational videos, such as the TED Talks (many excellent vids there!), and the craft/learning videos here on YT.
These are all valid points. One could also note, that it's easy to spiral into self-flagellation due to such activities. Certain people (myself included) understand where their time goes (e.g. for me it's video games). But what's worse is when you punish yourself for doing that activity. Then you'd devalue your time spent, and also apply stress and pressure on yourself. Any pleasure you could've received from the activity would be instantly gone, not because it's short-lived, but because you deemed it to be a waste of time. So the remark at the end of the video is actually what I'd highlight -- it's a stepping stone for getting rid of an actual addiction. There is nothing inherently bad in doing something that brings you fun or pleasure, however, there are other things that could be done to implement your dreams, long-reachable goals etc, that might bring even more pleasure... someday. Luckily, this channel has enough tips on how to rationalize the necessity of establishing useful habits. Some time ago I attempted to limit the time I allocate to playing games, but it ultimately fell apart, when I faced a huge crisis in my personal life, and gaming actually became a way to get away from stress. Now I'm going to try again, due in no small part to this video. Thank you :)
really helped me to know and i got motivated from ur vids so i can reflect and do my priorities first and actually ur list is absolutely related to mine, thanks a lot !!
That was pretty good.I think our biggest issue is wasting our time on social media for hours and hours. Unfortunately we don’t have any control over the social media and when we find any free time we decide to waste it on social media instead of spending time with our family or friends.
Hi there, came accross your videos last weekend for the first time and I’m a big fan already. Regarding this video I really think that it depends on what you watch/browse. I’m using TH-cam mainly for educative purposes for example. I totally agree though that you should always ask yourself when to much time is spend on these 4 habits.
People please. It’s not a waste of time to watch a majority of these TH-cam videos. But it is a waste to scroll through aimlessly with no subject in mind. Know what you need and find it, mindful and aware of what you’re doing at all times.
This is so true! But another time-waster is...spending too long on the phone!!! Nothing is gained from meaningless conversations about the weather or what you're having for dinner. Far better to go out and actually meet up with people and enjoy an activity together: shopping, coffee, walking, etc. 🙂
Videos like these make me feel guilty about everything that I am about to do. It makes me paranoid. "I want to play a game today. But I wouldn't finish my tasks if I did. So, I won't do it." "I want to watch something today. But I wouldn't finish my tasks if I did. So, I won't do it." The same words again and again on every "fun" thing that I wanted to do. I love the feeling of accomplishing my goals... But, sometimes, it feels like having fun is not allowed at all costs. :(
Pretty much sums it together. I like the clarification that sometimes one of the activity is super important, that it is not a waste of time. However, one has to be careful not to talk himself into this too much.
I feel like this video ignores why at least some people choose to do these activities or why they don’t just be more productive (for me being creative and needing to come back later to work more). It just seems to make out these activities to be completely worthless instead of it being different in some cases where it’s fine. If it is in fact affecting your life in a negative way then yes, you should make change. Moderation is key.
I love playing video games, but I tell myself I'm not allowed to play them until I've done something productive, but then I just spend all my time surfing TH-cam and reading Discord messages that I don't get anything done and I hardly ever play video games. It's kind of weird how I can easily prevent myself from doing something I greatly enjoy yet I can't stop myself from doing something that only brings me mild happiness.
This is actually really funny. I don't have social media, deleted it years ago. I have never been on Reddit, I play games for like an hour a week. Don't really watch a lot of TV. And yeah I am still not as productive as I would like to be.
one of the most major time waster for me is the thought that "I've wasted a lot of time already", which causes anxiety and as a result you end up wasting the remaining time as well.

Right????
If you need to relax then you don't love what you're doing.
Thecasualist
It’s one thing to understand something. It’s another to act upon your knowledge.

@IceFaiey Fan
U r totally right, even i play video games for the same purpose but actually people just don't understand especially the one who don't play games n actually most of the people who play games just play them for time pass, they don't learn anything from it
It's actually really sad when u can also learn many things but u only see 1 side of the story
Thank GOD someone is defending Videogames xD Thank you
I remember 2 years ago when I would wake up, then start playing video games,I would play the whole day and when I saw the time it was dinner time and my sleep would be affected by staring at the screen all day long.
But nobody is trying to call spending time in nature or petting your dog a waste of time.
thats a good point Lee Dunn.
@@Balkac you'd be surprised at the thing some kids at school make out to be bad lol
What an awesome comment!!
What is this life, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare?

Thinking about all the time you waste instead of just living, that is a real waste of time!
More like: Worse Than Yesterday.
I don't agree. Sometimes we need to think or re-think our life in order to decide and know where we're going. If you never stop and reflect about your habits and on what you did till now you won't be able to do it.
We live in culture, not in nature, stop trying to seem like the smart one here!
But what if you are doing something that you don't enjoy? You can say "i'll just stop doing that", but in order to reach that conclusion, you need to think, and if thinking can get you out of what *you* consider a bad habit (something you don't enjoy or agree with), then it's not a waste of time.
Wtf is "just living"? Is that supposed to be deep?
Maybe I am just saying this because im a Game Designer,
but we all need to take brakes and enjoy something besides work.
Nowhere productive, that's for sure"
-> Idk, I've reached the top 99.5th percentile of players in a competitive esport. I learned a ton about the best ways to learn and improve that easily generalizes to learning outside of video games. At the same time I've learned to appreciate other competitive sports, and gained valuable knowledge on strategic thinking that also generalizes outside of video games. On top of all that, I've made a lot of new friends.
Maybe your definition of "productive" should be a little broader.
to be fair he does state at the end of the video that your reasons for doing the habit are important.
Same! (Apart from being that high skill haha)
It massively helps my mental health and I've made friends from all over the world.

For those of us working in this environment, it's DAMN EASY to get side tracked. This video for me was a "break" studying. However, I can identify many times where one leads to another, then the other, and so on. Staying in control and on track, is a challenge we should all rise to. Thank you. Great video.

#3 is actually debatable. Learning is much more efficient with the help of internet resources. It depends on for what purpose you use the internet.
I think all these are debatable.
Watching tv can be a good resource also
Like you said, debatable.

I love how the ending is just "Do these things and you will be better than yesterday." It's a good feeling

Off to to the shower and on with all on my list !-)
I've even put writing a postcard to friends or family as a 2 minute task :-)
Your Englisch may have a peculiar accent, it is still a 100 times better than a computer voice ! Have a nice day Sir !
Yes ,I agree you are right, today I wasted my time in Social media.
“Tip #1: Don’t play video games.”
Another BTY video: “How to turn your life into a video game.”

#1 time waster: Wasting time watching TH-cam videos on the numerous ways to not waste time 🤦🏻♀️
really helped me to know and i got motivated from ur vids so i can reflect and do my priorities first and actually ur list is absolutely related to mine, thanks a lot !!
Best videos ever. I really enjoy them. Thank you.
Just for the record, playing video games led me to write a novel.
Of course I didn't spend hours on Fortnite. I played story focused games.
Leonardo Cornejo: wow , how far have you gotten?
mr khan Published last year. Working on the sequels.
@Cathlene Romain Steel and Flame. It's on Amazon. I'm working on a new cover to homogenize the style with that of the sequel.
@Cathlene Romain a fantasy story about two members of a guild whose function is helping people for pay. One is the girl in my profile picture.
That was pretty good.I think our biggest issue is wasting our time on social media for hours and hours. Unfortunately we don’t have any control over the social media and when we find any free time we decide to waste it on social media instead of spending time with our family or friends.
aahhmnn reading comments on youtube should be one hahah 😆😆
Most definitely Yes!
The time you used doing things you enjoy is not wasted time
Agree!
That's what he said if you'll listen to the end of the video.

*MISSION ACCOMPLISHED*
Well with the gaming I'm socialising with my friends during lockdown and developing logical thinking skills in some games?
Videos like these make me feel guilty about everything that I am about to do. It makes me paranoid.
"I want to play a game today. But I wouldn't finish my tasks if I did. So, I won't do it."
"I want to watch something today. But I wouldn't finish my tasks if I did. So, I won't do it."
The same words again and again on every "fun" thing that I wanted to do.
I love the feeling of accomplishing my goals... But, sometimes, it feels like having fun is not allowed at all costs. :(
6:40 Here is the real video actually...
P.D: "Priority" thats the key word.
Ever considered being burnt if you are working on your goals all the time and not having time to relax?
Yes, now i will change everything.
Proceeds to watch another video from channel.
Just joking, 3 videos per day limit.
so glad you got your channel back bro!!
I really like watching your videos :))
There are 86400000 milliseconds in a day
This is actually really funny. I don't have social media, deleted it years ago. I have never been on Reddit, I play games for like an hour a week. Don't really watch a lot of TV. And yeah I am still not as productive as I would like to be.
