  • So guys it’s the big one, it’s the video you have all been waiting for...it’s the first ride on this pristine, 24 years old, Yamaha Wave Blaster II 700cc.
    In this episode boy do you get treated, I managed to track down a drone pilot which has been on my to do list for some time, to start capturing drone footage of my classics...It gives you all the angles you could ever want. Watch along as I experience for the first time ever, what the Blaster II feels like to ride, and let’s just say, it really didn’t disappoint. In this video I give my honest, first impression and of course, fall off this notorious ski...It was a blast so I hope you enjoy watching it.
    This video also sees me visit and go back to West Country Water Park, formally Mad Mikes. The lake has new owners and they are going through a whole renovation phase, therefore jetskis have not been able to ride for over a year. Shaun kindly invited me along to test out the lake and get an exclusive update on what’s happening at the lake. There is an exclusive sit down conversation with Shaun in the video, so be sure to watch to the end.
    Thanks for watching and supporting guys... Please consider hitting the subscribe button.
    ‘Let’s keep the classics alive’. Enjoy the episode.

    Joe, you need to do some more blaster 2 content mate! I would love to see a time trial of the blaster / seadoo xp / spark all at this same track (I think I saw a video against the 2 seadoos against each other) - that would be super interesting.

    • @classicjetskis
      @classicjetskis  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Totally hear you on that-more Blaster 2 content is definitely on the radar, just been working on the HX to get that out this summer. A time trial with the Blaster 2, Seadoo XP, and Spark (well all my skis for that matter) all on the same track is something I want to do.... I’ll make it happen for sure. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel dude 👌😎

    A Blaster 2 was the first Jetski I ever rode. Now I'm more a fan of the Blaster 1, would be awesome to see you get a Blaster 1 and restore it.

    This is my old jet ski! This very one in the video! Loved it… spent most of its days in Derbyshire and the South of France before I brought it back to the UK.

    You have to try a B1 blaster! The b2s are cool but the difference in the hulls is night and day! Very little content out there for b1 waveblasters as well. Thank you for the vid tho, nicely done!

    • @classicjetskis
      @classicjetskis  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know right... B1 is 1000% on the to find list...the trouble is (you probably guessed it) but it would have to be a pure OEM clean example and pretty much all B1's got trashed as were moded to hell... I love my B2 but hear you and hopefully I find one at some point. Thanks for watching and supporting Joe ✌✌

    Looking to get another classic ski with my brother back in the day my family had a 97 Kawasaki STS 750. Not really sure what direction I want to go with definitely something from the 90s and 2 stroke because that was the era of skis we saw on the lake growing up. Was thinking a 717 Doo SPX to try out that magic X4 hull or was thinking something a little bigger like your Yamaha Wave Raider 1100 because who doesn’t love a triple.

    • @classicjetskis
      @classicjetskis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Love it! the 90s has a lot of very good picks so you have plenty to pick from... I have to be honest if we are talking Kaw, my knowledge is not as sharp as Yam and Seadoo.. Me personally if you're looking for a ski that has a bit of everything it would be a GSX ltd... I love the Raider and the X4 717 but they are great skis for specific things... The Gsx is fast with the 951 (has to be 951 for me) its nimble but still stable enough to go exploring and that thing jumps so well. I find with the 717 its so much fun throwing it around and jumping waves but do find you meet the envelops of speed, whereas with the 951 GSX its keeps you guessing for longer. If you do opt for the 717 I would say find the 95 XP vs the 96 teal SPX... However if you can find a X4 XP800 vs the 717 even better, as that will bridge the speed gap a little more (like I mentioned above).... I would also add if you want just all out power and speed, the Raider 1100 is unmatched (just its cornering dude!!!!🤔) Thanks for watching

    Great video! Very good quality footage! I've been looking at getting a blaster 2 for a 2nd ski and your videos are very informative! One question is what trim position are you running it in?

    • @classicjetskis
      @classicjetskis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Man love this, glad you liked the video, appreciate the support! That is a great question, I played around with a range of positions, pretty sure it was just in a neutral position for the top speed runs.. I would highly recommend getting a WB2...I believe trim was a late addition on the final years of the WB2? Everyone always mistakes my WB2 as a 1997 but its actually a final year 1998 for the Europe market...as such mine has trim, but a buddy of mine that has the 1996 or 97 doesn't have trim.

    • @classicjetskis
      @classicjetskis  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeh I hear you, everyone has said the same... A B1 is on the list to find but never seen a clean enough one... most are a mess from being modded heavily or raced in the 90s... loads of conversions done... I will find a clean one at some point for sure... in the meantime a B2 is still a blast.. I love it, thanks for watching 👌

      Hell yeh!! I 1000% want to get a standup… it would have to be a classic…maybe a square nose… the only issue is I basically ran out of room in the garage so need to work on some shelving or something 😂

    All this time ,money , and effort to just go in circles ... you do a good job with everything, but ends very anticlimactic. Just going in circles on that dirty construction site looking place. What im getting at is it doesn't even look like fun. Hit some waves, do some tricks, jump in the water or something . Wheelies anything. And why all that gear to go in circles 😂😂😂 its like wearing a bulletproof vest to a water balloon fight. You do a good job none the less was just my opinion

    • @classicjetskis
      @classicjetskis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1) It was my first ever ride on it, therefore the type of riding I did I would say is good for getting the hang of it. In the following rides I have got more and more out of the riding of it! the sort of spinning it etc is the exact thing you do on a blaster, I showed both fast runs around the bouys and also playful spinning, donuts etc…🤔
      2) At the time of filming that ‘dirty construction site’ was undergoing a renovation( did explain this If you watched properly) it’s my local lake and one of the only fresh water lakes around, if you know anything about classics you would know fresh water is far better than riding in the salt.
      3) Wearing a helmet is smart when the edges of the lake are so close, in the ride I was consistently maxing out the ski to its top speed, around 50…it only takes a steering cable issue etc, if I then go straight into the bank, building etc… just because it maybe doesn’t look cool wearing a helmet, isn’t a good rationale not to! Plus a helmet is vital to mount a go pro to, to get that shot type
      4) Wave jumping a clean beautiful classic like this is a fast track way to destroy it, yes I do ride in the salt but I try as much as possible to ride fresh on these older classics to keep them this fresh for years to come.
      In general your comment seems unnecessary , uneducated and comically when I look at your TH-cam, I can’t see any blaster videos showing your full speed runs with lots of these, so called tricks etc 😂
      This channel is about keeping the classics alive, I’m riding this 1998 all these years later… think you’re missing the point on why I make the content I do, when you say riding around in circles ( which by the way I could ride around a course for hours and have fun, if you don’t find it fun then you don’t really love riding jetskis) by filming at the likes of this lake, I can get you guys camera angles from multiple spots around the lake, the zoom on my camera reaches the ski at any point and it showcases the speed of this ski over a smaller course.
      If I take it in the sea, all you literally get is go pro and no 3rd person views etc
      Thanks for watching but not sure my channel is for you

    All those weeds on that lake will clog your intake! Looks like a mud hole to ride on, not good! You need to come to my home state of Arkansas where the water is nice!

    • @classicjetskis
      @classicjetskis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Been riding there for years and never had any issues… I must admit it was bad in this video but that’s because like I said, it’s in a take over stage… since then the water has been completely weeded and the whole place is now done… it’s actually a great place to ride even though the video makes it look pretty bad at the time.
      That lake is 30 mins from me and the closest fresh water place to ride… as you know fresh water is much better than salt so try to stick to my closest lakes… thanks for watching 🙏
