Just ordered these after installing Torq Loopz and riding around with the stock mufflers. Very hard to find a bad review on any TBR pipe and after hearing them here and reading reviews of their excellent customer service it's a no brainer. Thanks for taking the time to film, and a lot of editing, it really made for a thorough analysis.
Thank you for this video. I was considering these TBR slip-ons until this video and several of the comments helped me make a more informed decision. Thanks!
Hey Vicki, I actually had issues with mounting the pipes as well. The issue was different then yours though. This seemed as if one of the slip on pipes that went over the stock header was longer then the other. Even though they're marked with the Left and Right sides I tried them on either side and one in particular made it so the pipe wouldn't line up with the mounting tab. Glad to hear you got your issue solved!
Bill, hope you are enjoying your new B...and TBR pipes. Any opinions yet? Also, you may want to check if the seller already preformed the rear brake recall for you.
I installed these on my 2016 Goldwing. They sound great when you are STANDING next to the bike. When you're riding longer than 10-15 minutes the droning makes it unbearable to ride. I tried with/without helmet, with/without ear plugs, but nothing helped. I went back to stock and sold the TBR pipes.
I like the look of the pipe from the side , don't like the tip, and don't like the sound. The wing is not an easy bike to put an exhaust on .. lovely bike. ride safe
Steve, that was the first thing I asked TBR prior to purchasing it because I didn't want to deal with a Power Commander. No the bike auto tunes it with the first five minutes after you turn it on and ride. It recognizes the different exhaust. Also, you don't have to repack these pipes. I've had these TBR pipes for a year now...and I still love them. No issues, no backfires, nada...and personally, I love the sound. :)
Thanks George!! I love my bike...and in black...personally, I think it's still the best color to date. The OEM pipes for the 2015 and up sound way better than the 2013-2014...and they are in black. If I had those pipes, I'm not sure if I would have needed to purchase the TBR pipes. One great thing about these TBR pipes...when I'm splitting traffic on the freeway...people know I'm there. There were too many instances where drivers couldn't hear me and almost hit me or wouldn't get out of my way when I was riding with the OEM pipes.
No, I did not install any new controllers. Everything was automatic and if I recall correctly, the bike adjusted for the new pipes on its own. I didn't have backfire or anything. I e-mailed TBR a similar question before purchasing a set of these. I would recommend you do the same and provide what year your GW is.
@@vickip I've got 2013 F6b. Same color as yours. I was planning on putting Cobra 6 on 6 with no torque loops (Since my state won't pass me in the inspections if I modify CATs). btw thanks for your videos on tail lights. I did the same and it came out nice. Appreciate your posts.
I just installed the slip ons...no torque loops. I didn't experience the drone noise, but I've heard some people who installed it experienced it until they installed the torque loops.
it appears people in this city don't know how to merge properly. i have never seen a traffic light to indicate who can proceed onto the highway ramp lol Nice sound tho, looking into one of these
Joshuwa, LOL!! well, yes, that city does tend to have numerous traffic accidents...however just about every freeway on-ramp in this state has a traffic light in areas prone to high density traffic. This is to prevent too much bottle necking on the freeway on the merging lane.
You're welcome. :) The pipes sound great...even on the highway. When I'm splitting lanes, the cars typically see/hear me and give me more room to pass them. That certainly didn't happen when I had my stock pipes. The newer F6Bs ('15 and up) supposedly have a deeper tone to their stock pipes...however I have yet to see one in person to hear the difference. As for droning...at certain small range of RPM I can experience a little droning from the TBR, but I pass that range pretty quick. However, when I'm splitting lanes and a car wants to be an AH and not let me pass...I create that droning sound to irritate them until they move over. :)
sounds ok, but I don't like the look of those pipes at all on the F6b. I have the 6 into 6 cobra exhaust on mine but I get drone at certain rpm range, but love the way they look on that bike.
Hi Vicki, I also installed these pipes on my 2015 Goldwing. So far unfortunately I'm unhappy with the sound on them. I get a pretty bad "droning" noise anything above 2000RPM, even on the highway at cruising speed in Overdrive it still hums so loud it's borderline driving me crazy. At idle the exhaust sounds great... Have you noticed any of this? Thanks!
ducatistatony Hi Ducati...these are my first aftermarket pipes ever...so I really don't know what droning sounds like. I however have heard an exhaust from a sport bike one time on the freeway which sounded extremely annoying...but my pipes don't sound like that. To me, my pipes sound like a race car. I do hear a tone on the freeway, but it doesn't annoy me and I can still hear my music. The good thing is from what I noticed today. I noticed more drivers look in their side mirror...cause they hear and see me. Before I purchased these pipes, I was concerned about it being too loud. TBR told me they are currently working on a version of the PowerTip that would work on these Goldwing pipes to suppress the sound if needed.
ducatistatony Question for you Ducati. When you installed your TBR pipes on your wing, were you able to line up the exhaust under the groves of the saddlebag like the TBR video? I spent a lot of time trying to get them to line up...but I wouldn't. When I tried to get it closer to the inside of the bike, the pipes would touch the bottom of the saddlebags. I checked the connectors, and I used the left and right connectors on their respective sides.
Vicki P Ducati, nevermind...I finally got my pipes to line up correctly. I figured out the pipes were supposed to be mounted behind the mounting bracket under the saddlebags...unlike the stock pipes which were mounted in front of the mounting bracket...thus the confusion. Man, I wished TBR provided that bit of info in their instructions...ugggg!!!
"thumbs up" only because there is not a "love it!" tab! LOL WOW that thing sounds WICKED!!! Why does it sound like it has a supercharger on it? Do all GL1800 have that whistle / whine to them?
LOL...probably because it's an 1800cc sport touring bike with six cylinders. :) It still could use some more power though...the weight of the bike slows it down. It's been almost two years since I've installed these slip ons and I still love them...still deep sound and Italian race car like sound. As for the whine sound...I think they all have it...at least the ones I've come across. The stock pipes sound like a sewing machine...weeeeeee....weeeeeee.
NICE! Nice to know that both you still have the bike, nice to know you still love the TBR pipes, and nice to hear from you as the reply. In all honesty I figured another you'tuber would have answered my question of the supercharger and whistle sound. hahaha! I have had many bikes, and dearly love the ADV bike class. But I have been seriously looking at putting a F6B in my stable after the house sells. (hopefully in the next 4 months or less) Hope you have a safe and blessed 2017 season!
I just got into dual sport riding and really enjoy being so close to nature without the congestion. I just have to worry about other riders / ATVers / or Jeeps blowing around blind curves. 2017 is the final year for the F6B...and the 13's to 14's are going way cheap. Have you test road the F6B? It's a heavy bike, low to the ground but wide. It's super stable at slow speed. Aftermarket parts are easily available because of the GL1800 line and maintenance is super easy (thanks to all the TH-cam videos out there). I for one am waiting for Honda to re-introduce a new ST1300...or something similar with updated tech. I'm not a fan of the Kawi Concours and I used to own a Yamaha FJR1300...which was a nice bike, but the seating position was a little on the aggressive side...probably an easy fix with a different seat and heli bars. I recently test road a BMW RT1200 and GS1200...man...those are really nice bikes...so fast and smooth!! I would totally get a RT1200, but I can't ignore the BMW's reliability rating is no where near the Honda or Yamaha.
I have not ridden a F6B yet. However, I did spend the good part of a day on a borrowed 1999 GL1500 SE Goldwing ( 820ish lbs. ) and found it a dream to ride. A 2014 F6B Deluxe is listed at 842 lbs., so should not be all that much difference in handling. I have also taken the skilled riders course at our local HD dealership back last year (prior to riding the GL1500) and I feel that class helped me a LOT with handling large bikes. Congrats on the dual sport! They are a hoot! I grew up riding them. Well, they were called "Enduro's" back in those days. Same thing. Honda XL185, XL350, and Yamaha RT180 converted to street legal enduro. As well as a few strictly dirt bikes. My Vstrom is kind of a blend of sport touring and dual sport. It is really a 80% road bike, 20% *light* off road bike. But I sure do miss having a go anywhere lightweight dual sport! lol If I get the F6B, I may sell the Vstrom and get a small little DR400 or something like that. So I would have a road bike and a off road bike. Time will tell. :-) Congrats again on your new bike. Hey, if you ever want a good camera with decent on road sound quality, look at the Sena Prism Tube. It is what I use on my channel. I noticed in your vids the video quality was great, but the wind noise was overbearing once you got rolling. Just a friendly suggestion. ;-)
The IMS (International Motorcycle Show) is held year round throughout the nation. In my local area, Honda (and other manufactures) came out with multiple demo bikes...some of which were the F6B and the full Goldwing. I even demoed that anime bike NM4...that was a hoot...I don't like auto clutch. The F6B is a large/long bike...but it certainly doesn't feel like it. However, I eventually would like to move toward a more sport touring bike such as the RT1200 (but a Honda version...if it ever returns to market). The F6B is smooth (it better be with the given weight), but I had to install a Superbrace on it because it initially felt unstable at high speeds.LOL...copy cat...you getting a F6B and possibly a DRZ400. :) I'm actually looking to possibly getting a fuel injected dual sport, like the WR250R or the Husky FE350. I wish Yamaha would come out with a dual sport WR450R.As for my action camera...yeah, I completely agree...I was using a Replay XD750...my first action cam and the mic sucked. I actually recently purchased the Sena 10C...it's an action cam and comm unit...got a great deal from the IMS show.

Cobras do sound nice...but they are too loud for me. I was at the International Motorcycle Show last year, and another F6B owner had Cobra pipes...we did a side by side comparison. His Cobras were way louder than mine. If that is what you like...go for it. :)
Great video, from all angles, that's how to do it, not just the quick rev. Nice sound
I love the sound of these pipes. Not loud, but deeper and tight.

I like the look of the pipe from the side , don't like the tip, and don't like the sound. The wing is not an easy bike to put an exhaust on .. lovely bike. ride safe
Does the bike need to be re-tuned with a power commander or something like it after this swap. Thx Steve

I would love to ehar what this sounds like under load... like in 3rd gear going up a hill and accelerating from like 30 to 50ish....
So specific lol
Nice job on the video. I have a 2013 F6B... also in black; what great bike eh! I actually prefer the OEM pipes.

Are those riding flip flops? Kevlar socks?
Silence is golden!
Loud pipes devine.
Did you install EFI controller or reflash the ECU afterwards?
No, I did not install any new controllers. Everything was automatic and if I recall correctly, the bike adjusted for the new pipes on its own. I didn't have backfire or anything. Why don't they make headers for the 1800 cc Honda line-up?
Did you install the torque loops also or just slip on exhaust an do you get that drone noise everyone talks about with other slip on exhaust

Why do motorcycle enignes whine so much?
It comes from injectors, and it’s typically to this 1800cc engine.
How much?
There are other bikers who have made it

Vicki P how do you mount the Ram mount to the bike ???
There are various mounts available for motorcycles, but for the F6B, I used the brake/clutch reservoir Ram mount. www.rammount.com/activity/motorcycle-bases#reservoir-base
Sounds like a power drill
Man what a skinny rear tire.
My rear tire is skinny to you? It is stock. You must either dark side it or have one of those fat tires like the M109R.
@@vickip does this TBR EXHAUST make my rear look........😝
