I'm one of those people who has a weekly review scheduled every week but when the time comes it feels so overwhelming I often skip it for later. I find it helps to use the review time for planning/scheduling new tasks and making sure the super urgent things are done rather than trying to completely clear my inbox in one go (never happens!). Then I tickle away at the less urgent tasks for a few mins each day.
I'm not interested in Todoist Pro, because I have it already, so I wanted to say thanks to Naomi for her pleasant and helpful formatting style. I also appreciate how positive and life-affirming she is. The bloopers at the end were a particularly nice touch!
I love the idea of a weekly review and need to start working that into my weekly routine. However, I find that it's too easy for me to skip it for this week, thinking that I'll do it later. Well, "later" never comes and my weekly review doesn't get done. That said, this was a very informative tutorial. Thanks so much for this video.
Having been diagnosed with ADHD last year, at the ripe age of 42, I believe a weekly review will benefit me massively and a Sunday morning just might work for me too.
The weekly review is something I usually do on Sundays. I look at what I did well during the week, both in work and personal life, identify any gaps, and see if there’s room for improvement or an activity I could add. I also take note of any unexpected events that came up and think about how I can approach them, so that all the tasks I had planned throughout the day can carry over into the next week. Honestly, doing a weekly review on Sundays, when I feel calm and relaxed, really helps me focus on how I want to improve myself each week of the year
I retired last year and the weekly review was a key part of my work week on a Friday afternoon (no meetings, no appointments). Now I'm trying to work it into my "new life" to give each week a purpose and direction, not just let each day waste away. This video is a great reminder.
Always do a weekly review, I just can never seem to do it at the scheduled time on Friday afternoon. Tried Saturday morning, felt more like I was wasting time I could be using for deep work without distraction or free time if I'm not working. Going to try Friday morning, see if that makes a difference. Always like these videos, keeps the productivity ideas moving!
Every week I have "do a weekly review" as a task in my Todoist and every week I postpone it to the next week! 🤦🏻♀️ I am hopeful that this video and the weekly review template will help me stop avoiding this beneficial review! Thanks, Naomi!
I've been doing weekly reviews for a while but could never pinpoint why I liked them so much, but your quote at the end of the video opened my eyes! It's 52 chances for a fresh start in a year and the fresh starts are what gets me motivated 💪
Making time for a weekly review is often difficult when I feel under pressure to get so many other things done or am also tired and fed up with work, and don't particularly feel like thinking about work on a weekend. It just seems like another chore. I have often tried to do this but soon forget to do it. I need to find a way to make this a habit. I envy people who are so super organised. I am going to implement the Weekly Review Template and hopefully I can keep it going.
Thank you for the GREAT overview!! I found myself ticking all the boxes in the "Who should do a weekly review"... yet I have never done a weekly review. I will definitely be giving this a try... I have just added the weekly review template to my Todoist!! 😃
I like to call it Weekly Audit and this are my prompts: What gave me energy? What took energy away? What can I easily eliminate? What tasks can be automated? Is there anything I can outsource? Have a recurrent do task to do it every sunday.
I ❤ seeing these videos pop up in my feed, especially with the outtakes 😆. Yes I agree the weekly review is critical. One thing I would add which I've found to be critical is always begin the review with 'celebrate'. Really revel in what's gone well this week, what you've enjoyed and what you're grateful for. Not only does it mean you get off to a great start, but I think we don't do enough celebration in our working lives. I used to stick to GTD but now I have my own model, but the review is vital (and todoist of course!)
Helpful reminders! My weekly review changes from just the basics to the full review from week to week. I have a hard time staying on task w review and tend to dig in to a project or urgent task that pops up to the top of mind during this time.
Honestly, I worry sometimes that I enjoy planning/organizing more than doing but of course, things need to get done. The Weekly Planner looks like a great way to bring all of my to-do together in an intentional manner. After trying dozens of organizing apps, I think I’ve finally found a home in Todoist. Thank you!
I have a weekly review time set up on my work calendar for 2pm on Fridays. I end up skipping it. BUT, after watching this video and incorporating the Todoist template, I am feeling confident that I will start doing it this Friday!
Mind-blowing idea. I have been reacting to chaos for a loooong time and I am so inspired. Planning to start tomorrow - me and a glass of wine by the fire. I'm already excited!
Thanks for the video! It reminds me about the importance of the weekly review, and that sticking to them is worthwhile, something that I'm not so great at. But yeah, it is really easy to keep on making the same mistakes without that chance to reflect and introspect, it really is an important part of any organizational system.
I did a weekly review this week and feel soooo much better for it. I finally have an overview of my commitments instead of a rough idea. The feeling of over whelm is diminished. The feeling of oversight is increased. A good night's sleep awaits. Thank you.
This is so interesting to me. Honestly, it all feels a bit overwhelming here at the beginning. I have so much on my plate, and this feels like something else I need to learn. But, I want to learn. I can see how it would make a huge impact in my life.
I've been meaning to do a weekly review but have been overwhelmed by the thought. Seeing you talk through it and provide the template as a starting place is a great help!! Can't wait to do my first weekly review!
I was doing a weekly and a monthly one. 2024 was a challenging year and I lost the habit. I am so happy to come back to a better organisation. Thanks for this video. I am ready for reviewing regularly.
I'm a new Todoist user and enjoying it so far! I'm chronically disorganized, .but desperately want to be more productive and organized. I will try out the weekly review along with the annual review to see if those can help me get my shiitake together LOL thank you!
I really love weekly review! Actually I do it every Sunday evening and it always makes me feel better. I review my study stuff, my current habits that I want to improve, the time spent on my smartphone and things like that. It is just great, I would recommend to everyone
I don't do a review, but I'm finding I'm becoming more chaotic and feeling more snowed under. So this is definitely something I'm going to start trying. Love the idea of going to the coffee shop and sorting it out as a good way to step away from everything
I appreciate the moment to sit down and remind myself of what is happening--what needs to be sorted, and what did I miss in the previous week. Sometimes this practice takes 3 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes!
The weekly review seems like an amazing tool, and hopefully it can help keep my ADHD brain moving. I've been capturing time on my tasks this week and trying to keep better records, so I'm looking forward to sitting down today and attempting my first ever weekly review.
I’ve been doing weekly reviews for a while now and when I make it a pleasant experience is when it works well. I love the thought of having 52 times to have a new start 😊
A couple things I picked up from this video that I will try in order to help improve my weekly review..1) I'll try it on Friday afternoon and make it something to look forward to - I like the coffee shop idea. I have been doing it at the beginning of the work week, like first thing Monday am, in order to start the week off on the right foot, but I've noticed it often gets cut short or interrupted in that space. 2) I had been starting my weekly review from big to small. Starting with reviewing goals, progress, thinking about life, and then narrowing down to specific tasks that need to get done. However, I think the 'get clear, get current, get creative' flow will be more helpful to prime myself for thinking about bigger picture goals with a clearer mind. Thanks for the great video!
Weekly reviews help me to remove the stressors and divide my "life" into "weekly" planned bites. Then the daily flow becomes less mentally stressful. Since much of my life is ad-hoc and not strictly subject to schedules, I like using filters to develop an Eisenhauer matrix and with three filters (URGENT, IMMEDIATE, IMPORTANT) I have made six filters that keep my ad-hoc (unscheduled) tasks sorted automatically as "HOT", "Smokin' ", "Smoldering", "Cold", "Frosty", and "Icy" with appropriate emojis to keep me entertained. All I have to do is change the filters and my ad-hoc items are automatically sorted. I do this during the weekly review, and during the week as I feel I need to, otherwise things just keep rolling along. Thanks for your videos.
Definately time to put my review on heavy rotation. Thanks for walking us through. I did many steps already - still missed some out though. Very nice and helpful input!
I have it on my calendar to conduct a weekly review, but by the time that rolls around, a weekly review is the last thing I want to do! Love the bloopers! This week I fast-forwarded to them first!
I love the concept of weekly review. I usually review my work on Friday morning, and I also do another quick review about this review on next Monday morning. Always can find something that is missed😂.
I watched the video on the Todoist channel and wanted to share my thoughts. I'm 50 years old and trying to teach myself how to plan. I have been an entrepreneur for 30 years, but planning has always been my weak point. The problem is that I don't like controlling things, which leads to my plans going off course without systematic adjustments. After downloading the weekly review template, I have been trying to analyze my plans from the previous week and more effectively create and adjust plans for the upcoming week. I still want to become more efficient, and staying consistent with planning is very important to me. Positive emotions add motivation on my path to developing this habit.
I love the weekly review on Sunday! Especially for someone who used to always get the Sunday Scaries and oh no I totally forgot about that EESH. I love knowing what is coming so I can be prepared as possible. It's clear what is a priority and what is not for the week, :)
I used to do a weekly review, but I lost the habit. I know that it is very important, but sometimes I am so busy and tired that I do not have the energy to do it. This lesson helps me to remember that this weekly review is going to help me to overcome the tons of tasks and projects I am in charge of.
Naomi, you're a gem! I've always appreciated the theory behind GTD, but somehow was missing the deeper part that you pointed out: what are the patterns I can see in the last week and what do I want to better? That, and the reinforcement of choosing a place one really enjoys (and making it a 'treat' somehow), got me very excited to put this into place as a consistent event in my week. Sometimes I feel boxed in when something is supposed to be done at the same time every day/week, but turning a 'have to' into a 'want to' seems to be a key (and treats and atmosphere make that 'want to' for me). Love the outtakes, btw...helps to see that your perfect presentation took some work and editing to get it right, just like our daily life does. We're all in this together!
I started doing a weekly review because of Naomi's suggestion in previous emails, and I love it. In my "Projection" section, I added "Block time in your calendar to work off-site," and that has been a game changer. Making a plan to work away from the busyness of the office and focus on executing tasks has been 100% worth the entire review. Thanks for creating legitimately awesome content for your audience!
I think I really needed to hear the Creative and Corageous part, that's not something that my coworkers and leaders have shown is something important in a day to day and it's overwhelming to think I want to work and also have personal projects. It sounds like "the real life" is the second or third priority when I compare to working in a company. I'll 100% start applying the Weekly Review for my personal gains in my own life and projects. Thanks, Naomi! I'm already a huge fan! ✨
I adopted the weekly review several months ago and I've not looked back. It's my "review and reflect" time that helps me tweak, adjust and plan for the week ahead. It also made me realize that some of my weekly (or bigger) goals were too ambitious and I needed to break things down into more digestable/achievable pieces.
I don’t currently do weekly reviews, but I plan to start. This video was something I watched because I wanted to learn more about how to go about doing the weekly reviews, because I think that it’ll greatly help improve my structure in life and help me not feel overwhelmed. Planning to do them on Sundays!
I like the concept of doing a weekly review, it's something I do in my head a lot and realize actually putting it paper more often will help not feel like I'm missing something or being stagnant. I can see these notes and check them off, I just need to be able to get back them regularly. I feel bombarded with my notes and tasks like i can't keep up. I think this app may be a great tool to continue using, hopefully it doesn't get lost in the pile of apps I've tried already. At least you explain and teach how to get the most out of it. I have questions, knowing when to ask them is an issue.
I started weekly review a few years back but never did it consistently. I started it again last week and hope to keep this streak. The important thing to remember is to move from one checklist item to the next without lingering too long in any one area. The longer and more arduous your review is, the less likely you'll be to maintain the habit. Without any doubt, Weekly Review is the single best productivity hack.
I don't know when I started to do weekly review but it makes me feel so relax. I like it because I can predict my life a little . So I could put the others things I need, for example, a medical appointment. Tks for the video ♥
Thanks Naomi! I use Siri to add tasks to Todoist as I think of them (in the car, at the dog park, wherever...) so my weekly review is vital in moving them from my Inbox to a category that will help me get them done, whether it's to make an appointment or add a task or person to a project. I've also added a "Someday" section for things that may not be immediately achievable but are taking up space in my brain. So I can now use that brain-space to get other things done, knowing my "someday" items won't be forgotten. Thank you for the helpful suggestions!
I just set up my weekly review today. I tried it for the first time and feel really peaceful going into my weekend! I am a paper/pen list writer too and that was key- getting all the stuff swirling around in my head out of there and down on paper. Thanks for the tips!
Great video - I have used David Allen's process before but always found that the tools available in the corporate workplace limited the adoption of it - I find Todoist very good and it was very helpful to watch Naomi highlight the main things to get done during the weekly review and how to make it fun.
i’m excited for this set up - not only does it already seem helpful for my ADHD, but i’ve been looking for a way to keep track of memorable moments as well 😊
I started with a weekly review some time ago. After reviewing and altering the checklist some times, I found some that is working for me. What I love most, is that is keeps me on track on "the bigger picture" and makes sure I have a game plan for each and every week.
Thank you, Naomi, for the great presentation on how to organize my work, education, and personal life. I never thought about having a weekly review schedule to help me organize my life. This is going to help me greatly.
I started doing a weekly review after your newsletter that talked about it! I love it! I do it on a Friday afternoon. I've set a reoccurring task on my Todosit for every Friday and it's my favorite task to check off my list!
I do the weekly reviews, but the way it has been explained and structured in his video is something which I would definetely try and include in my practice
Fascinating. I didn't realize I was doing a weekly review until you put it into words. I have been doing more of a "oh crap what have I been doing/what should I do next" pause rather than a weekly intentional time, but I think adjusting my haphazard way into a regular routine will help!
I start a new job soon and feel like this weekly review habit will be super useful to adopt both as I hand over my old job and start the new one. Excited to give myself 52 chances to change! Very inspiring thank you.
Not doing a weekly review presently, though it is something I have tried to do before. After this video I am ready to give it another shot. I am retired now, and I have so many interests and things I want to do, that I think a system such as this will be a big help. Thanks for the presentation, great job Naomi!
A very helpful reminder. My tendency is to conduct a 'weekly' review and feel I'm on top of things for a while then fall out of the habit until I feel overwhelmed again! I have the attention span of a fair weather butterfly. Time focus on this again I reckon! Thank you!
Just watched this video in doing my Sunday catchup time right before I was planning on doing my weekly review! Your points on being creative and the Someday list are good.... I don't do enough of that. Anyway... enjoying the early morning quiet time with some coffee is absolutely the best way to get ready for the week.
With my ADHD, I feel like I can never finish a project or to-do list. I am really excited about trying this and am praying it works for me. Thank you!!
I do weekly reviews, and I enjoy the relaxing, uplifting nature of it. What is hard for me is the planning. I feel my tasks are all long-term tasks, and I can not break them apart.
It is very clear and inspiring, it sounds something very possible, thank you for the very clear and practical examples, they opened my mind to many possibilities. I downloaded todoist and I have started yesterday, but your video gave me the starting point that was missing. Thank you so much!
Very good explanation. I'm using this on and off for > 10 years and going to check out your template. I agree it is essential for your mental well being to do this.
I recently started doing weekly reviews and this video has reminded me why I got started in the first place! I particularly love the tip to do the review at a similar time and place that you enjoy. Making it a routine becomes a breeze.
I do the review on Friday morning. Then I have a clear head at the weekend because I know that the next week is planned.
I have been trying to figure out where best to fit mine in and this could really work - Thank you
I love the idea of a weekly review and need to start working that into my weekly routine. However, I find that it's too easy for me to skip it for this week, thinking that I'll do it later. This is pure gold. Pastry + Review = Preview (of the week) Pure gold i tell ya
Olá, fiquei muito intusiamada com explicação e vou colocar em prática 😅... , creio que vai me ajudar muito a organizar meus pensamentos....
Every week I have "do a weekly review" as a task in my Todoist and every week I postpone it to the next week! 🤦🏻♀️ I am hopeful that this video and the weekly review template will help me stop avoiding this beneficial review! Thanks, Naomi!

Todoist has changed my life. I am excited to implement the weekly review into my new routine, especially now I'm going back to Uni!

I have a weekly review time set up on my work calendar for 2pm on Fridays. I end up skipping it. BUT, after watching this video and incorporating the Todoist template, I am feeling confident that I will start doing it this Friday!
I didn't do weekly reviews before. I'm much more focused since I started doing it. Thanks for the template.
Mind-blowing idea. I have been reacting to chaos for a loooong time and I am so inspired. Planning to start tomorrow - me and a glass of wine by the fire. I'm already excited!
I have never done a weekly review, and I will start now with Todoist!!
Hi! i have ADHD but thanks to the template i did a task reflection for the first time in a long time for the second time in a row! Thank you!
Just getting started with a weekly review. Wish me luck!
Gtd had created anxiety before, but I am inspired to try it again after watching this video, step by step 😊
Thanks for the video! It reminds me about the importance of the weekly review, and that sticking to them is worthwhile, something that I'm not so great at. But yeah, it is really easy to keep on making the same mistakes without that chance to reflect and introspect, it really is an important part of any organizational system.

Love the idea of going to the coffee shop and sorting it out as a good way to step away from everything
As someone who has ADHD and Coaches people with ADHD, this is a game changer in so many ways. Thanks for the support :)
Just starting to use Todoist and learning all I can. Thank you Naomi for the great overview of Weekly Reviews.
I appreciate the moment to sit down and remind myself of what is happening--what needs to be sorted, and what did I miss in the previous week. Sometimes this practice takes 3 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes!
Great summary. I read David's book, and it changed my life. Thanks, Todoist, for putting it in electronic form.
Periodically, I do a big review. I've now added weekly reviews to my habit tracker. Thanks Naomi.

I watched the video on the Todoist channel and wanted to share my thoughts.

I am just learning how to do this and am going to do this as you said once a week. I am grateful you have videos to help users such as myself!
I'm obsessed with the weekly review process! And have made it my own using todoist every single week.
A great reminder. I have fallen into and out of the weekly review more times than I can count. Thank you for inspiring me to start again afresh.
Helpful tips and reminder how important a weekly review and clear-up session is! Thank you...

I had done something like this before, but having a structure built into Todoist is very helpful, especially in the nonprofit world. Thanks!
I have been doing the elements of weekly review. It is good to hear the guide to refresh & tweak

Never done weekly review so much methodically . Appreciate the help
I do a weekly review but I was looking to optimize it and this video gave me what I was looking for. Thanks.
I don't know when I started to do weekly review but it makes me feel so relax. I like it because I can predict my life a little . So I could put the others things I need, for example, a medical appointment. Tks for the video ♥
Just starting out and this is my first template project!
Definitely planning to try this! I love the idea of making it something to look forward to by incorporating a fun/relaxing place...and a pastry
The weekly review is something I look forward to every Sunday afternoon. Mine has been on paper, but I am testing out Todoist for improved workflow.
This is one habit I fall in and out of regularly. I’m going to try the idea of have an enjoyable place introduced into my routine.
I use the GTD review template every week. It's very helpful and quick especially since I've learned more Todoist shortcuts and recurring task tools!
I am just learning about weekly reviews in todoist so this has been very helpful, thank you
I start a new job soon and feel like this weekly review habit will be super useful to adopt both as I hand over my old job and start the new one.
I had a simple weekly review routine on Sunday evenings but it never felt like enough. This is way better!! I look forward to implementing it!
Have tried and failed at weekly review 52 times in the past year 🙂 but hope springs eternal! Also, I'm going to give the Todoist template a try.
Weekly reviews as well as daily reviews are beneficial for my productivity. Thank you for all of the useful tips!
With my ADHD, I feel like I can never finish a project or to-do list. I am really excited about trying this and am praying it works for me. Thank you!!
After viewing this video, I intend to use one from Jun to Aug. The focus on a section dedicated to creativity inspires me.
I do weekly reviews, and I enjoy the relaxing, uplifting nature of it. What is hard for me is the planning. I feel my tasks are all long-term tasks, and I can not break them apart.
I am close to doing a weekly review. You moved me closer.
It is very clear and inspiring, it sounds something very possible, thank you for the very clear and practical examples, they opened my mind to many possibilities. I downloaded todoist and I have started yesterday, but your video gave me the starting point that was missing. Thank you so much!
I`m really glad I watched this -I feel this is the start of maximising life.
