I did a daily gratitude for my husband for a year. Each day I wrote something I appreciated about him on a colored scrap of paper. It could have been something specific, or something general about his temperament or personality. I folded the paper in half and put it in a jar that I kept hidden in my closet for a year! Then on Christmas I gave him the jar stuffed full of notes. It changed my life and his! Anytime he needs a little pick me up, he goes to the jar and reads a few notes.
I am now 21 years old and I have been journalling (on and off) for at least 6 years now. I genuinely believe that journalling is what made me the person I am today! One fun thing I like to do is to write "level 1" entries in a foreign language I am learning. I am not a native English speaker, so that was the first language I experimented with. Throughout the years I have then journaled in French, Spanish, German and Turkish. Writing about your day in a foreign language is such an incredible exercise that requires minimal time and effort but will ultimately boost your language skills!!
Wow, that’s very impressive! As a native Turkish speaker, I have always wondered the reason behind why people decide to learn it given that it is not widely spoken and in my opinion extremely hard to learn as a foreign language
@@notyouregulardrama upwards of 80 million people speak turkish! i know a lot of people learn it solely for the popular turkish dramas, but i think the language is very beautiful as well
My favorite journaling prompt is “what is the best mistake I made today?” Because it helps me to gain perspective on my perfectionism and to appreciate that the most valuable moments, interactions and insights are often the result of a mistake I made earlier. Like: leaving home late caused me to miss the train but as a result I ran into a friend I hadn’t spoken with in a while. It helps me to be a little less judgmental of myself and better appreciate things I had previously taken for granted :)
@@williamhenry9967 Helping someone make a positive change Is always a good motivator. And making changes for yourself often affect people around you, too. So if you aren’t a good enough motivator for yourself, Other people Can be a good reason to make good choices
My journal is my best friend, I take it everywhere in my bag at all times, and say I'm alone at the mall or the park, I take it out and track my feelings, I write about the surrounding things, I write my feelings, I use it to check in with myself. I've been keeping a diary since I was about 13, and then went off and on for a while until 2021. (I'm on journal #13 for this year), and I think my most important prompt is, "how are you, really?" I tend to mask my emotions because I am known to be a people pleaser, but having an outlet to just actually let out what I'm feeling, it's great.
I journal everyday and I create art journals to give and to sell to others on Etsy. I find that people find it easier to start a journal when it is not a blank page but it has images and interactive places (like tags and tuck spots). It is easier to start to write or color or glue in bits of your life into a creative journal. I am 73 years old and am just starting a youtube channel to show my journals. Today, I discovered how to make a video with my phone. I have so much more to learn but I felt inspired by your videos. Keep up the exciting work.
Thank you Ali - my takeaway actions for this are: 1. Re-introduce Morning Pages into my daily routine. I used to do it, dropped the habit somewhere in the middle of uni, and now that I've graduated and am very aware that this is my life and it's happening now, I think I'll find a lot of value by bringing it back. 2. Try the 'I Appreciate...' exercise with my partner. We moved in together a month ago, and it can be so easy to take for granted how amazing that person is when they're around all the time. This seems like it will give me a bit of time to focus on some of the things I appreciate about my person :) 3. Try to build some form of journalling about future decisions/actions into my life: I have never really done this but it seems like a healthier alternative to the long debates I have in my head whenever I face a big decision! Will definitely take a look at your journalling prompts to see if any resonate, thanks as always for your openness with this stuff Ali. And if you've read this comment, have a great rest of your day!
My favorite journaling prompt is to ask my higher self for advice on anything that is bothering me. It helps me so much to get advice from a broader perspective than through my own human experience. Thank you for this episode Ali. xo
I absolutely love this idea. I'm on a path of spiritual awakening and my journaling has been lacking as of late; I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to write this idea down in my commonplace notebook so that I can refer back to it when I have time to really sit and have this important conversation with myself. Thank you so much for sharing!
This video is so full of information, that i took out my pen and notepad to write down the key points. You have literally inspired to do journaling, i have written all of the levels, questions, the type of journaling, and more over, i have written a beautiful note for my best friend to remind her that what she truly means for me.
'What does my life look like 5 years from now if I take a completely different path?' This is the prompt that I'm going to journal about and the best part is I have started this "completely different path" this morning and I'm not gonna just journal but document the whole experience to my best capabilities. 5 years from now remind me to share my experience and I'll be happy to do so. : )
There are possibilities online to write to yourself in one year. Write down your hopes, dreams, and planned actions. One year later, you'll be surprised by a mail from yourself! It's great for checking if you've followed through.😊
I’ve found that creating a habit at the end of each month for the life categories bit really helps to assess what you can change the next month. I also do the “5 years from now” prompt at the start of every year and halfway through the year to assess and create goals, which I then break down into what I want to accomplish each month, then each week, then what that looks like day-to-day. All of these prompts and exercises make sure that I’m not floating through life and then I blink and 10 years has gone by without intention. This is one of the few journaling videos I’ve seen that doesn’t have the same hashed out, repeated advice, and I really appreciate the scientific studies! I love the simplified frameworks.
I really appreciate your consistancy uploading even when your business is growing on multiple fronts. It’s hard to find a TH-camr who grows their other business’s while maintaining a reliable uploading schedule and produces such high quality videos!! Kudos!
I have been writing my journal when I was 18 years old. Now, I am 50 years old. Thank you for your valuable videos. I like the way when you’re explaining. It’s very powerful 🎉
I've been trying to improve for quite some time now, but journaling was one of these things that I always knew about, but never got into. (I guess many can relate) So yeah, grateful for this video
I am now a 17-year-old senior school student and I haven't really gotten started on journalling once in my lifetime, but after this video, I think I might start from the level 1 journaling, especially the 5-minute daily storytelling prompt. I think this prompt can start my journaling more easily and continuously. A big thanks for your help Ali ❤
My therapist asked me to maintain a grief journal 2 years back and side by side, one more journal, My healing journey. It has been 2 years since then and my mental health has improved drastically. Btw, amazing video, Ali!
Takings:- 1. I have to write it down what I am feeling and what leads me to that feeling. 2. Actions I need to take for becoming better version of myself by putting question to my inner self. 3. Appreciate your ownself first and other also for all goods even a little one happended in a day. 4. Focus on your internl circumstances and positivity and not on outer circumstances which are not in your control. 5. Bonus point- Take a step or manifest to attract goods in your life, because thoughts are the reason for every feeling and feeling leads to action and action converts into result. Thank so much for this video on Journey of Journaling ❤
Journalling is a magical endeavor, a transformative portal to self-discovery. It's akin to whispering to one’s soul, painting emotions and thoughts in ink, allowing understanding and growth to flourish. It's a special, intimate dialogue with oneself, and has helped me be more self aware than I have ever been before. Love this video, and I hope more people pick up journalling because I think it'll really change your life. 😊✨
I almost skipped the video initially b'cos i was looking for a particular vid. But something held me down and said its only 10mins long, listen. And the first thing i'm grateful for is to you Ali Abdaal for making this this video. Its priceless what i have learnt from you this evening. And i will say the power to change the course of my life is in my hands right now. Thank you🇳🇬
Its almost 1year passed. But still I feel supergrateful that I found you on youtube. Being productive and at the same time by helping people to become productive is such great personality. Thank you brother. God bless you 😊
I am an anxious person and I've heard that journaling helps a lot to deal with anxiety but I didn't know how to do it. I've always thought that it was kind of boring. Now I understand what the hype is about and I will definitely implement journaling in my daily routine. Thank you! It was a great video.

How is going, did you already started? I’m feel the same so please inspire me to start :)
"Good Morning, I love you, I love....." this is my most commonly used starting line in my journal. Morning Journals are nice to do. Thanks for putting this information together and sharing it with all of your subscribers. It is important.
The prompt from this video that truly captivated me is, "What is the worst thing that will happen if I do the thing that I fear doing?" I think I have many days where I procrastinate because I have certain fears about it. Now, I'm actually recognizing that this could help.
I decided to start journaling few days ago but more like writing things down and I kind of stopped, and I have always stopped because I didn’t really have a motive behind it, but now I do after watching this video, i can’t wait to start journaling again and see where it takes me. Thank you.
I haven’t written a journal in years now, the last time i wrote one was maybe 13 years ago, but you reminded me how much it. used to help me deal with life’s pressures and the depression that we could fall into due to keeping our feelings to our selves. I am planning on starting journaling again and i will start with the gratitude journal.
I love journaling about the things I get done today. But not only productivity things, but also like: I took a break on the couch, when I needed one. I tend to do many things throughout the day but I forget them or tell myself, that it wasn't enough. And actually seeing them and appreciating them, helped me so much.
Amazing... I've had not expected anything to learn from this journaling video, as it kinda felt like pointless when I did for a few months, but the fact was I was doing it either wrong or not doing it consistently. I learned a lot from this video and I couldn't agree more that journaling is gonna and will change my life. Thanks ali for your advice/educational content and for keeping your mates updated in the modern world. The journaling Prompt I came across when I was starting journaling and it made a huge change in my life is: "What would my life look life if I didn't do the thing that I know I could easily succeed ["not in 1 attempt, but eventually I can"] but I'm not doing because of other people's perception of my failure". Then, I realised that One day I'm gonna die, so it's pointless to take other's opinion into account. So, the only opinion matters is our own. Again...Thanks...a...Lot.
When i first started journaling, i find myself always staring in the blank despite being an avid diary-writer in my teen and young adulthood. Recently i learnt this phrase: How are you today? I know this may sound silly, but i find it really useful to help me begin writing. Most of us are busy day-in day-out and we lost ourselves in the mundane easily. "How are you" helps to bring the focus back to ourselves and you will be surprise how good that makes you feel at the end of your journal of the day! Cheers!
I`ve tried journaling for almost a week now and it has really completely changed my life and how I see things, I'm definatly more serene over stuff and I will try journaling for life changes! So wish me luck!
I have been journaling since 2015 now and it has been a great practice. One prompt which has helped me tremendously when I am anxious is "What is causing this fear?" ; "How much of what I am thinking is reality?" Cheers!
Mu favourite journalling prompt is "WHAT I'M GRATEFUL FOR..!?" This can actually help to realise that small things matters and improves being mindful on daily basis like what I'm eating and how I'm walking Thank you for sharing your thoughts it helped a lot 😊
My friend Ali, you always make videos about all my existential crisis questions 😂 I'm going through a breakup, but after two months of occasionally journaling sincerely about my feelings and creating a plan with your 9-step framework, I'm starting to feel excited about my life again. You are a very kind and inspiring person! Keep up with the content. 😁😉
I’m a retired person and I’ve just decided in the last month to start journaling. This is something I’d like to do but have been struggling to make a start. This video has really given me the inspiration and clarity I needed. I now have a much better understanding of what journaling is about and what can ben achieved. Fantastic video. Thank you.
A quick journal method I do is write a list of 3-10 items in the following categories: Thankfuls, “Prouds,” Pains/Prayers, Questions. Thankfuls- self-explanatory! Prouds- things I’m proud I did. It’s a celebration/acknowledgment of small or big things and reminds me of the control I have over my life & actions. It’s been especially helpful when I’ve been depressed. Eg. made my bed, brushed my teeth, washed the dishes when I didn’t feel like it. Pains/Prayers - things I worry about of people I’m thinking of Questions- what am I wondering about I think people would benefit from listing their “Prouds.” I don’t hear that talked about much.
Being 68 young and non native English speaker, I find Ali talking incredibly fast, (it's interesting,so I stayed till the end). How brave to talk to your own 85 year young self! Let's hope the world cooperates!!!
I’m British and can only just about keep up with his speech. It is very fast!! I would be able to absorb the information a lot easier if it were presented more slowly.. but I know some people like more fast and snappy presentation
I started journaling 2 years ago, and it changed my life. I started off with the talking about my feelings, and I used to do it everyday. However, I quit when I started to fear doing it because I was in a bad position and would much rather document positive things rather than negative. Although now, I am getting back into it after overcoming that fear.
Thanks for the journaling prompts, Ali! I’m really setting my mind to getting organized and managing my time better this year. I’ve been journaling my whole life, doing Level 1 and Level 2 stuff and making lots of to do lists for a long time now. It’s helpful no doubt, but I’m ready to optimize it. I love the suggestion to follow prompts that lead you to think deeply so that your actions can be more in line with the vision of your life. The Solomon’s Paradox prompt struck a chord with me. I have had many radiantly happy and generous loving elders in my life over the years, when I think what they would tell say or how they make me feel, it sets everything straight. There’s no longer a disconnect between who I am now and the vision of who I will be when I’m 85. We are aligned. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
Salam Ali, thanks again for another wonderful video. Honestly I'm 31 and I've started journaling ever since I was about 16 or 18 and it did help me much with some misconceptions about myself and make better decisions. But Later after getting my degree my notes mostly went around my feelings and being lost not knowing what to do...etc so I had to stop and I've been on and off ever since. I've been itching to restart this habit and you gave me a little push so I'm grateful . Thanks again. I'm working my way to stop procrastinating and just change my attitude to things, also improve wherever due.
Ive been journaling for about 3 years now, and I've come to the point where I'm "planning" or brainstorming future projects or decisions and figuring out an actionable plan. But what i love most about it is that it's living proof of all the progress you made when depression and self doubt take over.
I have been doing journal about my inner dark thoughts for a year whenever I am having mental breakdown. Now it has been less often than earlier months. And my anxiety is also reduced a lot too 😊. I am ready to face new fears . And now I am going to start journaling about gratitude and share explicit thoughts 😊. Fighting 🎉
In school, I used to write the things I was doing daily along with my feelings, achievements, and expressions. Back then my productivity was amazing in terms of my studies and all. By watching your video I remember how much I love to write physically. I will definitely start writing journal again.
This is exactly what I needed today. This tutorial offers an exceptional exploration of journaling, a concept frequently heard of but seldom put into practice. The meticulous editing and presentation enhance its watchability. I will certainly adopt the three-level framework as a starting point for my journaling journey, recognizing the need for periodic revisitation.
Hey Ali! Thanks for this video! Im a 17 year old JC student this year, taking my alvls next year and school had been so tough on me! Im constantly cluttered with so many activities and my academic workload suddenly skyrocketed and for the last 6 months it felt like ive been pushed by the torrent of work and i felt like i had completely lost control of my life! For the first time in my life i felt completely burnt out, helpless and hopeless that ill ever find my footing and my direction again. Normally im a very high performing student. But i did so poorly this time i felt like i let everyone down. Im so glad i found this video tho, i feel hopeful that journalling might help me pull myself together and make an acadmeic comeback! ❤ very grateful that i chanced upon his video today
This video is an absolute game-changer! Journaling has had such a positive impact on my life, and your ultimate guide provides a wealth of practical tips and inspiration. It's amazing how something as simple as putting pen to paper can lead to profound personal growth and self-discovery. Thanks for sharing your insights and encouraging others to embark on this transformative journey. Time to grab my journal and start writing! 📓💫✍
Thank you. Definitely 1 of the best self-impertinent videos I've watched in a very long time. I was injured on the job & have since then lived with chronic pain (the only thing I've achieved is developing a greater tolerance for pain.) No matter how hard I try to better my situation situation etc , I find myself "Stuck!" I'm grateful for this video; I will put the exercises to work immediately, with your detail explained plan, I am confident positiveness will finally flourish in my life. Thank you.
I have never been consistent with journaling, but I think I will start by writing down things today-my feelings, my next decisions, and actions. After a month, I may try the Odyssey Plan and Morning Pages.
First of all thank you very much for posting this beautiful video. I have been journalling for the last 1 month now, and the effect it has on me , my thoughts , and actions is amazing. I feel a different person now from what i was 1 month ago. I am able to deal with my emotions, feelings, and even reflect on them. This video today has given me so many valuable inputs that I can use to further improvise. Thank you and God bless.
During my college days, I had something to say and write everyday. But once college was done, life kinda became a monotonous routine and I stopped picking up my journal frequently as I had nothing much to say. I love the idea of trying to tell a 5 min story about the day. This concept will surely get me back on track with my journaling!
So true. I used to live a more precarious life and I journaled it. A few decades back I got a tech career going and my journaling slowed to a trickle. There is only so much I can conjure about sitting in an office 10hrs a Groundhog Day.
Thank You, Ali - I hope this note finds you well. I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible help your journaling video provided me. As a beginner in the world of journaling, I found myself feeling a bit lost on where to start. Your video not only demystified the process for me but also provided sufficient knowledge to get me started on this new journey. I was particularly intrigued by the fear-setting exercise you mentioned. The idea of taking control and overcoming my fears is something I've been contemplating for a while, and your guidance has inspired me to give it a try. The concept of seeking advice from my older self resonated deeply with me, and I believe it could be a powerful tool in navigating life's uncertainties. Your clarity of explanation and the practical tips shared in the video have made a significant impact on my understanding. I feel much more confident now and am excited to dive into the world of journaling. Once again, thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge and experiences. Your contribution has made a positive difference in my life, and I am genuinely grateful for that.
Ali your videos have had such a positive impact on my life and the way I think about things so just wanted to say a massive thank you for all of the hard work and effort you put into these videos! I've started bullet journalling recently and have found this really helpful, but want to take it another step and try the 3 pages method!
For years I’ve known I NEED to journal. I know the benefits of journaling. This is the FIRST video I’ve seen to actually get me to journal. Appreciate the prompts and the motivations you share.
Hey, Ali, I just wanted to thank you for what you do. Thanks for providing working methods of improving your live and sharing such helpful ideas with a big audience. I've started journaling about a year ago, being inspired by your videos. My sel-awareness and mental health have improved seemingly since then - I journaled in the evenings and it helped me to offload and calm my brain before sleep. Besides - it's very true!) - it's so much fun to go back to notes and being able to recall your emotions and experience on particular days. Thank you for being there for other people. I genuinely appreciate your personality and actions that help to improve lives of thousands of people for the better. 💛
I have been journaling for the past 3 years of my life, and I believe this is what truly changed my life 🌟I hope everyone could understand the power of journaling and practice it daily. Everyone deserves to live their dream life 😌🙏
I’ve tried journaling so many times, but always lost track after a few days. I started it again two weeks ago and I’m still going strong and it’s becoming a habit. You, Joe Rogan and Ryan Holiday convinced me to journal and it’s already helping immensely. Today I started a gratitude journal I’m 100% committed to keeping up with it. Thank you for being you 🙏
And we can build a habit of writing, it is a bit difficult but it is not a big deal, thing is that you just need to organise a fine plan breakdown it into smaller chunks that you think yes it is manageable I can do this, then try to work on it, in the start there is no need to write down three or four pages no you just need to build an habit, you just need to get start , you just start smaller steps first write half page, second day 1 page etc and you can follow this strategy to build habit, Ali has also explained it, So do build a plan breakdown it into manageable tasks and work on it Regards Kamran Ali 😊😊
Wow you have no idea how much your topic is relevant for me this morning. I find switching to fall and moving ahead with my plans a bit difficult this year and I had decided to see October 1 like others see the new year. A new beginning. I picked up my brand new journal/agenda this morning and was procrastinating to start writing in it... i was procrastinating with my coffee and opened TH-cam to pass the time. What a good decision this was... I wrote 3 pages on what would I like to be celebrating 12 months from now. I saved your video and will for sure get back to it regularly to keep the inspiration juice flowing! Thank you for what you do. I really like your content.
I started journaling few months ago. I was simply writing how I spent my day and before falling asleep I was thinking about things I'm grateful to God for. It really made my life much better. But today, when I watched your video, I saw that I can go even better. I loved your questions for journaling, especially the one about "what will happen if the worst case scenario happens?". It made me think of my fears, and then I started to think that even if the worst case scenario happens, my fear of this and that is not that big deal, it was just me making it look really dangerous and scary and there's actually nothing that much scary to be afraid of. Thank you for this video, your content really helps me to selfimprove.
Great video, and excellent ideas. My 84 yo mother used to say "Every day I wake up and say 'Today is going to be a beautiful day, and it always is'" She never got on the internet; she was a happy person.

Thank you for your time and energy to offer guidance in journaling! I have a journal by my living room chair where I jot down my plans/expectations for the day. even if i know it’s going to be a crappy day I assure myself that I can/will get through it. I also have a journal by my bed that I write about what happened during the day. That is where I give myself forgiveness if I did not finish a task that I thought I could accomplish.
I actually started journaling in june of this year, and I feel like writing stuff down really helps me take the burden off myself. This video is very well constructed, and I got some pretty good recs, also gonna read storyworthy and the artists way. I generally don't read non fiction books but these sound great!
I love the "I appreciate you because" prompt. I am always looking for ways to spread more positivity in the world and encourage and edify others, and I think this is an easy way to do so.
"What would your future self advise you to do in this particular season of life?" I am currently 19 so I'll think about what my 35 or 40 year old self would want me to do right now in university so that life is more meaningful. Loved the video! I'll start off with Fear-Setting exercises, Solomon's paradox and the 12 month celebration as my journaling prompts.🍀
Might be, but if you actually phrase it properly while writing it down, it gives us more clarity than just thinking about it in this way. Usually, the scenario is that "My future self would want me to put in some work now but I just don't feel like it." If we actually write it down while journaling it is more likely to keep us accountable.
Great in-depth exercises. I was looking for different techniques of journalling and stumbled upon this video, and I have no regrets. This video kept me hooked to every second, infact there were moments I had to re-wind and hear twice. The video is really elaborative and one of the points which I could also resonate was that this morning when I journalled just for 3 minutes writing this is going to be a wonderful day, I am experiencing a different mindset through the day. There is a clarity/no scattered thought, and my mind is looking for solutions instead of just cribbing about it. You said the same thing. basicall you mentioned three techniques here - 1. Flow of emotions journalling and self reflection jurnalling; 2. Gratitude Journalling, and 3. Future Self journalling. Odyssey Plan and Fear Setting exercises were reallynice and I am doing it today. Thank you!
This is so lovely and makes me so excited to journal again. I used to only journal when something really bad was happening and I couldn’t figure out my feelings. Writing it all out helped me realise who was actually at fault, why something upset me, deeper feelings, etc. Doing that is super helpful but I would also like to journal about more positive things like the examples you’ve given. Thanks Ali 😊
Ali, this is the reason that I stopped journaling. I felt like I only wrote when Im very happy or very sad. Its was my highs and lows and well like has a lot of in between and It felt like a waist of time and more like a started journal w a few entries. Also, I got tired of writing how sad and hurt i was for so long, I definitely didnt want to reread about my hurt. I wanted to forget the hurt. So i stopped journaling 12 years ago and now it feels foreign and odd to me. I wish it were more than ups and downs.
Ali, you are spot on with my mental state right now! I look forward to trying out some of these things as I move into retirement at age 54, and where I want to head. I have sooo much in my head, and journaling has helped me since I was 12. What you are sharing is powerful!
I started journalling ever since Ali began his 1000 words per day challenge, so quite recently! I've been quite inconsistent with it, but hey, you can't just build a habit in a day or two, so I'll just take it slow with this one. My favorite question lately has been "What does your ideal day looks like?" How you want to live your day is ultimately how you want to live your life. So this question really got me thinking about who I want to be with, what I want to do for the rest of MY life. Really grateful to Ali for getting me into journaling. It has really help me with my own thought process, giving me a clear mind and goal to work towards. So thanks a lot, Ali!
I love how you explained the "Homework for Life concept" which is basically how everyone should look at productivity. It's something one should do regularly and on a daily basis. For me, one key to this is to make journaling/notetaking as simple and seamless as possible. This is where the Jots feature of Amplenote comes in handy. It's easily accessible but at the same time, I can already link previous thoughts and notes into a Jot.
The last prompt I really liked was « What is my favorite photo of the last month? ». It forced me to look intentionally at all my pictures and understand what were my emotions behind and why.
OMG. I have been on such a journey with my journalling over the past year and always knew there was deep benefit to it, but could never quite place in words how powerful it has been. All my creations have been inspired by it. This video is being watched over and over as I refine my practice now... It is incredibly profound. Thank you so much for this content Ali. What a well put together video. 😊
I’ve started to write 3 things I’m grateful for every morning (i try to anyway) and it usually always allows for me to start my day in a positive mood 🤲🏽
Hey Ali, I found the following traits to fit you best: Creative, full of plans and humble. Thank you for being you and I'm so glad to have found you!! You're very helpful to me!
i have never noticed that journaling actually has this kind of positive impact of my action and my whole life. Thanks a lot Ali, love your reasoning framework revolving how our tiny thoughts and feelings can lead to our overall life results. absolutely sick 🔥🔥
I was immediately drawn to the "homework your life" journaling method as soon as you explained the method I grabbed my journal and started writing immediately! A whole 2 and a half pages are written! I loved it! Up until now I haven't found a journal method that worked for me and I always wound up ditching journaling all together despite loving to write, but now I am extremely exciting to try this method out! Thank you so much for the recommendation!
I'm going to resume journaling, this time infusing the things I have learnt from you. I never knew journaling could be such a wholesome experience. I'll start off with gratitude, then the three levels of journaling. Thank you!
I do the "3 things I'm grateful for", and it's amazing how it changes your perspective and makes you focus on the good things. I also tried the morning pages for a bit but I found it really long (the 3 pages per day) and some days I was just not finding it super useful or insightful, but as you said, maybe I retry it with a different approach and make it shorter. You really inspired me to take a different approach to journaling and try to make it a bit deeper than it is now for me. Thank you for the video, Ali 🙏

Thank you, Ali! I must say, journaling has been quite fundamental in my growth as an individual, and it has evolved from a mere monotonous activity to just how I do life; how I live, and I always look forward to that time of personal devotion, whether it's at home or at a café. Sometimes I journal more than once a day if I'm dealing with a particularly important issue. Crazy to see such a small practice have a huge impact in our lives.

JOURNAL!! Because of journaling i was able to slow down and hear my own thoughts, which led me to look less for other people's validation/opinion and more of my own. I realized I have all the answers I really need, and learned how to listen to my intuition. This has led me to move to NYC, and now travel the world to discover myself through visiting all the countries my ancestors are from. None of this would be happening if I didn't journal on a daily basis. DO IT. It's the best medicine for mental health.
I don't think so! I remember seeing this video last year for beginning my journalling journey at the start of 2024, and now I see this video on my feed again, but with a different title this time!
Hi Ali, I'm a 28 years old Taiwan's office worker. I've been feeling burnt out in my current job and I'm considering a career change for this past couple of years. But I lack confidence in my learning ability, especially since I've always struggled with academics. I also feel afried of change, worrying about losting the current tranquility and familiarties, whitch makes me hesitate to move forward. I know I can't remian stagnate, so I've started to look for methods of self-exploration and change, and that's when I found your channel. I have a diary, but I've lacked the motivation to keep writing consistently, so I came across this video. I've truly learned a lot from your video, understanding how journal can help us organize our thoughts and engage in self-exploration. I will begin practicing Morning Pages and daily reflection starting from April, hoping to bring more focus and vitality into my life. I will also try the journal prompts you mentioned for self-exploration, to discover the life I truly desire. I will share my exprencens of journaling with you after one month, on May 1st, and ask for your help in reviewing whether I've made positive changes. See you on May1st!
I just looked at my Day One app where I wrote some posts a few years ago. My last entry was ferbruary 2020, to say how great I felt after a 30 days digital detox without social medias. Couldn’t believe it’s already been almost 4 years !!! Time to take a new social media break, as 2020 has been my most productive year. Thanks Ali !
I love the 3 or 5 year journal - such a short commitment each day but so cool to look back on each day over the years when you’re done! The challenge is consistency!!!

That's awesome ✨👍
Have to try this!
💗
Ima have to do this. What a fabulous idea!
Such a beautiful thing you did❤️
I am now 21 years old and I have been journalling (on and off) for at least 6 years now.
That's a new idea, well I'm gonna try for the language that I'm learning now. Thankyou 😊
That's brilliant! Thanks for this idea. Aasha karta hu ki aap kabhi hindi mein bhi journal karenge.
Wow, that’s very impressive! As a native Turkish speaker, I have always wondered the reason behind why people decide to learn it given that it is not widely spoken and in my opinion extremely hard to learn as a foreign language
Yes to that. I do my journalling in a second language too, it's a great way to learn how to express myself.
Thank you for sharing this. I love this! I am so fearful of making mistakes and how people will perceive me. This would help flip that script.
Yess
Thanks for sharing. Great prompt
thanks for sharing! i’ll use this!
As a recoverring perfectionist, I might try this.
Each time someone likes this I’ll make sure I’ll journal that night
Do you mean each time someone likes this comment? How's it working out?
Hey! Don’t forget to journal today ✌️
Time to Journal!
Why is YOU journaling a driver for me? Odd promise to make imho.......😮
0:58
Do you use journal as sort of an emotional dump? or do you have other prompts
Being a people pleaser is actually very harmful at times. We do injustice to ourselves.
Waw amazing 🎉
I just gave you a new sub 😊
@@Jlisa21 thank you so much
This is probably the best journalling video I've watched so far! Just subbed! Thanks, Ali!
Thank you Ali - my takeaway actions for this are:
This seems like it will give me a bit of time to focus on some of the things I appreciate about my person :)
Why did daily pages fall out of your routine?
My favorite journaling prompt is to ask my higher self for advice on anything that is bothering me. It helps me so much to get advice from a broader perspective than through my own human experience. Thank you for this episode Ali. xo
Hey! That sounds so good! Could you explain a bit of how you ask your higher self for advice?
I absolutely love this idea. I'm on a path of spiritual awakening and my journaling has been lacking as of late; I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to write this idea down in my commonplace notebook so that I can refer back to it when I have time to really sit and have this important conversation with myself. Thank you so much for sharing!
I thought I'm the inventor of this idea 🙂🙄
@@whoamirlyFirst, you smoke.
This video is so full of information, that i took out my pen and notepad to write down the key points. You have literally inspired to do journaling, i have written all of the levels, questions, the type of journaling, and more over, i have written a beautiful note for my best friend to remind her that what she truly means for me.
'What does my life look like 5 years from now if I take a completely different path?'
This is the prompt that I'm going to journal about and the best part is I have started this "completely different path" this morning and I'm not gonna just journal but document the whole experience to my best capabilities. 5 years from now remind me to share my experience and I'll be happy to do so.
: )
❤
what is this completely different path?
There are possibilities online to write to yourself in one year. Write down your hopes, dreams, and planned actions. One year later, you'll be surprised by a mail from yourself! It's great for checking if you've followed through.😊
how’s it going with the new path
I have this mantra I use when journaling “Write it down and make it happen.” It’s allowed me to cross off so many things on my lists!
Can we take a moment to appreciate Ali that how much he helps us ❤
Can you?
he does it for the money and fame

and you follow him for what ?@@TH-camWatts
Okay..... So 🤔🤔 Spam comments really get very likes.
Now I get it.
I just want to comment that omg you are only 29. You are so young and have achieved so much!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the editor of this video?
Like WOW! He/she is soooooo goooooood 🤯🤯
I'd love to know who they are. Great job 💓
Btw, amazing video, Ali!
can you please explain in details about how to write it?
Yeah, I also wonder how did you do it in detail?
Yes! Please provide details
Would love to hear more about about the process for this if you don’t mind sharing.
Please help us also...by sharing about your experience and the way u maintain those journals..🙏
Takings:-
Just do it
@
Hey Ali, I'd like you to know that I'm using your videos as a springboard to help change my life for the better. So thank you for everything.
"Good Morning, I love you, I love....." this is my most commonly used starting line in my journal. Morning Journals are nice to do. Thanks for putting this information together and sharing it with all of your subscribers. It is important.
I am 16 and your videos are the backbone of my self-improvement❤.I believe this video have made the bone stronger.Alwasys grateful🧡
Hey! I’m 16 too! I hope you’re doing well :)
same position bro, im 15, i wish you the best
I also love journaling about the small moments, not only the big achievements. It's these moments that make life, that hold feelings and memories.
The journaling Prompt I came across when I was starting journaling and it made a huge change in my life is:
"What would my life look life if I didn't do the thing that I know I could easily succeed ["not in 1 attempt, but eventually I can"] but I'm not doing because of other people's perception of my failure".
Mu favourite journalling prompt is "WHAT I'M GRATEFUL FOR..!?"
This can actually help to realise that small things matters and improves being mindful on daily basis like what I'm eating and how I'm walking
Thank you for sharing your thoughts it helped a lot 😊
My friend Ali, you always make videos about all my existential crisis questions 😂
I'm going through a breakup, but after two months of occasionally journaling sincerely about my feelings and creating a plan with your 9-step framework, I'm starting to feel excited about my life again. You are a very kind and inspiring person!
Keep up with the content. 😁😉
Sounds like you are doing great and on your way to healing. ❤Stay kind and positive with yourself.
Pains/Prayers - things I worry about of people I’m thinking of
Questions- what am I wondering about
I think people would benefit from listing their “Prouds.” I don’t hear that talked about much.
Every time you like this will remind me of writing my journal for today's night. Thank you you people are great.❤
Ive been journaling for about 3 years now, and I've come to the point where I'm "planning" or brainstorming future projects or decisions and figuring out an actionable plan. But what i love most about it is that it's living proof of all the progress you made when depression and self doubt take over.
How do you journal?
I have been doing journal about my inner dark thoughts for a year whenever I am having mental breakdown. Now it has been less often than earlier months. And my anxiety is also reduced a lot too 😊. I am ready to face new fears . And now I am going to start journaling about gratitude and share explicit thoughts 😊. Fighting 🎉
Im cheering for you! Know that you are not alone. ❤ I struggle with so much fear, its really quite sad.
I am cheering for you too, you can overcome it. Be patient dear. Fighting for you ❤
In school, I used to write the things I was doing daily along with my feelings, achievements, and expressions. Back then my productivity was amazing in terms of my studies and all. By watching your video I remember how much I love to write physically. I will definitely start writing journal again.
I started Journaling 2022, watching you made me realize i can do so much more with your prompts

Thank you for being you 🙏
It is important to clear your thoughts. Writing is one of the ways to do it.
Also unsurprisingly all the leaders have a habit of writing
And we can build a habit of writing, it is a bit difficult but it is not a big deal, thing is that you just need to organise a fine plan breakdown it into smaller chunks that you think yes it is manageable I can do this, then try to work on it, in the start there is no need to write down three or four pages no you just need to build an habit, you just need to get start , you just start smaller steps first write half page, second day 1 page etc and you can follow this strategy to build habit, Ali has also explained it,
So do build a plan breakdown it into manageable tasks and work on it
Regards
Kamran Ali 😊😊
Thank you for sharing! I've been journaling for 30 years and I still found so much value in this video.
I love that prompt you suggested, "what are story-worthy moments that happened today". Adding that to my journal template, thank you 🙏
Great video, and excellent ideas.

Love this!!
@@freedominabudget thank you so much! 💜
@@manjuram5260 Isn't that how everyone thinks?
It is good to know that you are doing your best to do that.

00:34 Journa'll'ing. Refreshing to see the UK spelling, sir.
I'm going to resume journaling, this time infusing the things I have learnt from you. I never knew journaling could be such a wholesome experience. I'll start off with gratitude, then the three levels of journaling. Thank you!
Just grab a book and WRITE, there isn't a wrong way or write way JUST DO IT! No EXCUSES!
Is no one talking about the fact that Ali wears 2 watches? 😂
IKR!
Hehehe came looking this comment loooool

After a year, I can truly say that Burga journal has really changed my life and the way I see it. I'm never stopping my Burga journal journey

Has the title always been “2025”?
See you on May1st!
yes, i liked my own comment.
You talk really fast LOL
I love fast talkers!

@faezeask9151 actually, it's in the gear icon.
I love the 3 or 5 year journal - such a short commitment each day but so cool to look back on each day over the years when you’re done! The challenge is consistency!!!
