I have had my AHP 203xi for about 8 months now, and on my 4th tank of argon so it gets used a decent amount. No issues! I did however swap the torch head out for a CK worldwide. I've tig welded with Millers, Lincolns, fronius, and some others and man do I love the AHP. The arc stability is amazing and it runs AC perfect. The value is tough to beat!

Good to hear. I put on the 9 head so my 20 water cooled parts interchange as I had a bunch.

Do you use it on 120v? I heard it has to have 40amps at 120 and I wasn’t sure if that was only more the higher settings or if it doesn’t work at all on a 20amp 120v

@jackguess762 Not often but I have in the past. Seems to run fine but just not as much juice. On other machines I always notice the difference on stick. But I don't like to run stick on my Tig machines.

It’s awesome seeing a fellow Mainer making great video, I’m 30 mins north of Augusta, and work at a dealership, I do tons of trans work so it’s nice seeing the old school builds

I would like to learn to TiG weld. The Alpha TiG looks like a great choice. I did pretty well with Oxy/Acetylene welding back in the SMVTI days (yes a long time ago). That being said, I should probably try to master my little 110v Hobart MiG first. I think it has

Question about th400 dipsticks...... I have the old style o-ring type with a crappy chrome setup from o'reilly's. It leaks, not terrible but it leaks. Is there anything I can do to remedy it besides a new o-trying and maybe some sealer?

    • @mountainsgarage

A new o ring, lube, and make sure after the bolt is tight that it is down flush to the case. Tapping from the top with a rubber hammer works.
I would change the dipstick before using sealer.

Nice! I still find it weird when I see YouTubas local to me, like I live next to movie starts or something. Good video. I’m actually gonna get the 205 over the 225 I was leaning towards because of your review. I just got the 190MP it’s definitely a cool everything machine.

I sent mine back after 2 weeks . It simply is not what is billed to be. You do get what you pay for. Arc stability in the AC mode was at best poor. Nova foot pedal was marginal. The torch was just a overall POS. I know for some the 110 volt option is a big thing for myself a single volt 220 v machine is all that is needed. Going forward I'll just keep using my 60 year old 400lb transformer machine . Just thought it would be fun to have a lightweight portable machine would be neat. If you have low expectations and know nothing better this machine might fit those needs.

@nalley6815 I have welded professionally on and off for over 35 years. I have more than a basic understanding of tig welding .long before it was referred to as tig back in the day heli arc welding. Again you truly get what you pay for. Chinese junk nothing more nothing less. You my friend are the clueless one if you believe that is a quality machine

@@patrickhickey8779 “you get what you pay for” yeah I’m sure that’s why the big name brands still have major problems and they won’t even stand behind their products….. not to mention extremely overpriced. If you want to watch money disappear and not gain anything, just go to Miller and get a tig. That way you’ll spend 4500 bucks and do the same work that you can with a $700 welder that’s been proven time and time again that they’re reliable. But again I’m sure you’re just one of those that wants his overpriced welder because it makes him feel good

@@nalley6815 no I have the overpriced welder because at the end of the day when I am charging 250/hour I need a machine that I can't rely on ? And one when it breaks down I don't have to send it 1000 Miles to have someone say it can't be fixed sorry. Take your 700 dollar consumer grade welder and tig together your 50 cent part and be happy with itl. My antique Linde hasn't been in the shop in the decades I have owned it. It's duty cycle is 100 percent across the board. With a liquid cooled torch that rarely needs anything other than a new tungsten on occasiin

@@patrickhickey8779 surely you realize people are running professional shops with AHP and primeweld welders don’t you? Ah who am I kidding, I’m sure you’re one of those people that think the more it cost the better it is 🤣 funny how primeweld has the best customer service among the welder industry…. Lead a horse to water but can’t make the retard drink……
