The problem, your shingle to the right of the valley that slid under the step flashing. That shingle should also slide under the same upper valley as the first shingle. The amount of water coming down the valley is going to work it's way under that second shingle and possibly the first shingle from the damming effect of nowhere else to go. That's just my opinion. Everything else looks good for what you had to work with for a quick fix.
Thanks for your comment, I agree it should of went under, I think there was a nail holding the flashing down so I couldnt slide under it. I think the area just to the bottom of the upper valley was also lower creating a pocket for water to pool. I guess at the least I could of cut it the shingle back to allow water to flow down. Thanks for your input, I will keep it in mind next time I come a cross something like this.
That whole area needs to be removed and redone. It needs new metal in the valley starting where the top valley is slide under it with new metal the. Redo the shingles. You can’t just wedge a shingle under there , temporarily it may work but this is hardcore amateur hour all around.
The remarkable thing is l said in the video 3 times, its not a proper fix, l dont have authorization to do a proper fix and youre saying its amateur hour... If l said it 4 times would l have gotten the message across? Oh wait!!! I technicially did say it 4 times because l also wrote it in the description its not a proper fix. The take away from the video is you cant have nails in a valley.
@@HomeownerDIY If I came across that, I would say this whole thing needs to be redone and refused to try and throw a shingle in that valley. that is a joke, that is amateur hour. I would rather not do a job then do it wrong. you do you. I'll say it three times if you'd like.
@@HomeownerDIY It's not a proper fix, yet that is how you fixed it. I am aware there should not be nails in the valley but you dont fix it by covering it with a shingle.
