Twilight of the idols has got to be my favourite, every single track is an absolute banger. Not to mention the brutal af intro of procreating Satan used for the Poland and wacken shows as well. You’re definitely right that Gaahl era is the best era.
Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt is well written and catchy riffs to be seen as a Black Metal "Lite" album. For that stage in the game of the band, the songs are good for pulling you along without having to do any work to figure out what exactly is going on, but I prefer when something doesn't make sense at first and needs many listens to hear all the depth. AD is godly, TWILIGHT is just slick and mean. First two albums showed nice writing talent, sounding so of the era. Cool video.
Maaaaan it's so hard to pick a favorite Gorgoroth album! I had Destroyer and Twilight of the Idols with me on deployment back in the day along with a mix of other bands/ albums (this was before mp3 players were really popular or functional too, was all CD's lol). Every era of Gorgoroth is great. Infernus has proprietary rights over the band/ Gorgoroth name after a lengthy legal battle between him and Gaahl and King. Also their live DVD "Black Mass Krakow" is fantastic, they got chased out of the country after that show hahaha, all kinds of crazy history with this band.
Antichrist is the best for me . Perfect as an introduction to black metal . Great Frost's drumming on "Gorgoroth" and "Possesed by satan" . The AMSG is too industrial in sound for me to consider as a black metal album
100% agree w/r/t Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam. It's a fantastic album that stays strong from start to finish. It was my introduction to Gorgoroth and everything else they produced fell into it's shadow. I need to give Under the Sign of Hell another try; it just never clicked with me. I like Quantos Possunt more than you, but I do find it inconsistent and a bit boring at times. More of a C plus for me.
Making this tier list I think is difficult, I like how the music is written in the early era more, and I like the vocals with Gaahl more. Destroyer is actually my favorite album, so many songs I like, I know it's all over the place and sound more like a compilation album. Antichrist, under the sign of Hell, and Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam would follow up in that order, but they are so close together by a decimal. Have not heard their latest, so Quantos would be my least favorite, I still like it but least memorable to me.
Gorgoroth is a band that for the longest time I really didn't liked, I've warmed up to them, still not really fan but I do like the first record, and for all the flak Gaahl and King ov Hell get, their era was consistent and was a unique direction for the band, their "come back" with their most recent 2 albums didn't do anything for me.
I think QPAST is a key entry. That slower cleaner sound on tracks like Rebirth and Prayer are a nice change and rounds out their discography with a different style. I tend to view discographies as what would I recommend to someone to get the full picture, and that’s one of them. That said, Pentagram is my east favorite.
@@blitzkrieghopAZ the original “Under the sign of hell” is there best by far in my opinion. Besides the track where he sings all weird and opera like lmao
Appreciated. It’s all about the Ghaal albums for me. All of their albums sound pretty different and those are the ones that I like the most by a wide margin.
Pest and hat are a lot better than Gaahl. That said, my tier list would be S: Pentagram, under the sign of hell A: antichrist B: destroyer, twilight of the idols, ad majorem C: incipit satan D: quantos and instinctus bestialis
You don’t know anything!!!! Quantos is The BEST Gorgoroth album!!! Infernus is Gorgoroth!!!! F*** Ghaal and King o v Macdonalds. They destroyd the band! The only thing they did was pose! Rebirth of Gorgoroth!!!!!!!!! Ad Majoram isn’t that good. Generic BM. Want newer, good BM, check out Advent Sorrow, pestilence shall come... superb! Grts from Norway
"Gahl era Gorgoroth is best era Gorgoroth" - dude I'm sorry but you are out of your f-ing mind LOL. And Carving a Giant is the most overrated Gorgoroth track in the entire catalog.
Pest is the ultimate Gorgoroth vocalist. Quantos Possunt is the Opus Magnum of Gorgoroth.
I can respect the Gaahl era too, but Pest all the way.
Twilight of the idols has got to be my favourite, every single track is an absolute banger. Not to mention the brutal af intro of procreating Satan used for the Poland and wacken shows as well. You’re definitely right that Gaahl era is the best era.
Exit Through Carved Stones 🤘😈🤘
Got it right with Ad majorem sathanas. Their best imo. Frost on drums
As close to perfection that they have come
It is my favourite black metal album of all times.

Yeah lol
Something is weird about the production for me on the Ghaal albums. Especially on twilight of the idols. The songs are much better sounding live.
What’s the consensus on the re-recorded Under The Sign Of Hell 2011?
It's crap.
Antichrist is the best for me . Perfect as an introduction to black metal . Great Frost's drumming on "Gorgoroth" and "Possesed by satan" . The AMSG is too industrial in sound for me to consider as a black metal album
Gorgoroth are S tier 2nd wave black metal tbh

I like gorgoroth but some songs are heavy af, Gahhl is real black metal vocalist.
Indeed
I would consider pentagram to be my favorite, my god it's so good.
Def a classic
@@MetalTrenches it is.
Funnily enough Destroyer is one of my fav Albums of them, but fair enough mainlz due to a few Songs like the legendary Virginborn
Yep Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam is un arguably S but I would also but Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt at S as well.
We all have our favorites
Nah I think Pest and Hat sound much better than Gaahl
Leagues. Although this guy has a behemoth shirt on, I guess thats indicative of his taste...
easily

Are y'all forgetting that Gaahl and King Ov Hell try to destroy Gorgoroth. Fuck both of them for trying to take Gorgoroth from Infernus
Yeah since The split its just not the same
Gorgoroth - Destroyer \m/
Under The Sign Of Hell is absolute top tier black metal IMO
5:28 - Please make that list! :D
For Destroyer album,I just like one song, and that's Pa Slagmark langt mod nord, this just one the best song
I agree this ranking 🤘
Am I the only one that thinks AMSG has country sounding riffs? Like they have a real country twang to them. Especially on Carving A Giant.
Dude that 2009 album is amazing! Come on!!! Prayer?! That song alone is better then the whole gaahl era
Naw

Under the sign of hell was so fucking good
I have tried to get into Gorgoroth but I just don’t like them. But will give your video a like anyway.
Appreciated. It’s all about the Ghaal albums for me. All of their albums sound pretty different and those are the ones that I like the most by a wide margin.
Same.
I quite enjoy most of their stuff but damn too much drama with this band, lots of posers, to be rivaled with the likes of Motley Crue 😆
Pest and hat are a lot better than Gaahl. That said, my tier list would be
S: Pentagram, under the sign of hell
A: antichrist
B: destroyer, twilight of the idols, ad majorem
C: incipit satan
D: quantos and instinctus bestialis
I guess you got offended by "Rebirth" lyrics on behalf of Gaahl, so you put one of their best albums on D tier.
Tf are you on about? I’m not offended by any lyrics. Weird strawman.
Some of their songs sound like hijacked rockabilly music which is funny to think about.
You couldn't be more off base.
You couldn’t be more of a narcissist if you think your opinion is the only valid one.
