Kong Vinter is EXTREMELY underrated. Some of the catchiest metal I've ever heard. The riffs are so infectious. It's become one of my favourite black metal albums of all time.
amazing debut! i still have to really dive into the albums after doedskvad. i bought the first album back in 1999 and for some reason was slow to follow the subsequent releases. i think for some reason i just felt there was no way that they could follow nattestid. i think the debut is still my favourite if i had to choose but the follow ups in the first three are definitely awesome as well.
so you got it backwords the first 3 albums were a "band" written albums and once the 4th self titled came from that point on he is the sole song writer. something that has always bugged me is as a guitar player this is some amazing stuff here to play and it blows my mind that you cant find any video of hoest playing guitar. i almost wonder if he writes the stuff and has his live band record it since maybe they play the instruments better
@@MetalTrenches Well, let's say that every album has had some people to participate, but Hoest is the main man... that's been always the case in Taake...
@@MetalTrenches @Darkkronic ya i was under the impression hoest writes and records everything except for drums on the first few records and forgoes the guitar for live shows to focus on performance. some of the riffs probably not as easy to play while also doing the vox. can't all be jon nodveidt i guess. but i think ditching the guitar allows for a better frontman at a live show.
but then the 20th anniversary nattestid dropped and had band photos of some 2 or 3 other folks. i thought for sure the first album was just him and a session drummer. taake is coming from being thule and i'm not sure if that was also just a hoest project with session members as well.
OH YO looks like I wasn’t the only one that got a rock vibe from the riffs lol. Besides the 1 C tier album, may check out the rest since they seem great. The debut was amazing when you talked about it that one day, so glad to check it.
Is this one of the greatest BM bands out there? The riffs are insane and I love the proggy elements in the writing (odd time signatures, banjo!, etc...
my personal fav Taake song was I believe the final track on the debut. Amazing...

Total opposite take here, but I'm just glad people enjoy their music period.
I agree with this. Took me 2 years to realize it’s on the top
Agreed, Kong Vinter is a phenomenal record.
"Hordaland..." was my introduction to Taake and will always hold a special place in my heart.
All great stuff
"Over..." is certainly my fave!
It's great to find out that I've been pronouncing one of my favorite band's name wrong for 20 years.
I think you’re in the majority with this one
Noregs Vaapen is absolutely incredible. It deserved to be in my best of 2010s Black Metal list.
Absolutely
the drumming on nattestid is really special

Oh weird. I always thought it was the other way around. Yeah he is a bit of a hermit.

Even though it's a rework... 'Kveld' gets my vote for the best.
