    Thanks for the very helpful video and instructions. I owned my blower for 4 years and never could get it to run without duct tape holding the knob. Thanks to you I followed your instructions and it is working great. Thanks

  • @aaronmichaels8347

    small engine guys .... I got the pac man tool. Tried every adjustment known to mankind ... still can't get it to throttle full. Fuel lines are fine , carb is fine. Was just serviced not long ago ( my neighbor moved and gave this blower to me). Air filter is a bit dirty , but not horrible. tried adjustments with filter off. Bogs down at full throttle. Have been using it at 3/4 throttle on handle. Works kind of (def loss of HP) but kinda works. Then it starts to act up randomly like it wants to stall and i have to back off throttle fully and then go back to 1/2 -3/4 throttle. Def seems like a fuel issue. My theory is mix is a bit off (don't know if blower is that finicky if it was 48:1 or 52:1 ) ??? My other theory is Shit gas 87 octane with the ethanol crap they put in it ... Maybe i should run 89 or super(91) in it. Do you have any input as to what you think it could be ???

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      only use 87 or octane free 90. gas goes bad in 3 weeks. it may run your car after that but not a small 2 stroke motor. so fresh new gas every time. air fuel adjustment screw closest to the air filter counter clockwise till it hits full rev or new carb again. old gas ruins a carb fast..

    • @louiescaglione167
      @louiescaglione167 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I run the synthetic 2 stroke canned gas , available at all hardware stores. Never have carb. problems again. At the very least use this to store it over winter

    • @aaronmichaels8347
      @aaronmichaels8347 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@louiescaglione167 Thank you for your input :) Actually, i just decided to sell it as is. I also have a 2 year old Ryobi hand held which worked great for 2 years and started douching out the same way as the backpack. I was told by 2 diff. repair shops that Ryobi are shit .... very finicky and just problem after problem. I read reviews that stated the same. I bought a B&D battery blower and i absolutely love it. it's more HP than the back pack blower was !!! No more fuel mixtures , stinking from gas when i come inside the house , and having a brain aneurysm outside constantly having to stop to try and tweak this POS !!! I'm a happy man now and honestly the B&D is better than either Ryobi i had. Ryobi are just poorly made Chinese crap !!! lol

    I've got this blower but it's a different style carburetor and choke where there is a slide lever up and down on the back instead of a turning post on top like yours. I looked all over that carburetor and I see no adjustments on mine. Do I have an old model that can't be adjusted? Could I get a newer style carburetor and put it on mine? This is the exact model BP42. I'm having an issue where it's kind of hard to start, but once it is started, it seems to run fine, it gets up to full throttle but after a short while it'll begin drop rpms like it's losing power. What do you think the issue is? Maybe not getting enough fuel? I didn't see any issue internally when I tore apart the carburetor.

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      did you replace the lines. the carb setup i posted should work just 2 chokes. i think i know what one you have. there are no adjustments. i think this is you amzn.to/3A8bgAL

    • @blakebauer2722
      @blakebauer2722 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@smallengineguys I can see the fuel passing freely through the lines as I press the primer bulb, so I didn't think the lines were an issue. I noticed the previous owner had a CJ8 spark plug in it and it was actually loose. I see online the recommended plug is RCJ4, could that present and issue as well? I just bought it used yesterday.

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardwagner5731 ok so I'm assuming you meant to say it won't speed up. If that's the question then the adjustment screw closest to the airfilter needs to be turned counter clockwise a little at a time till it runs full throttle.
