    'Why does sex play such an important part in each one's life and in the world?'
    This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America.
    The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'
    We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms.
    Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world. If you would like to help us with translating subtitles, please contact us at digital@kfoundation.org

      You cannot teach someone who dosent seek to be taught. Those who wish to learn and want to be freed will always find these. This is probably the only benefit of the internet, this double edge sword, to immortalize the pure too amidst all the vile it was created for, to stand the test of time, the seekers will always have a chance to find these. As jk once said, never possess yourself in his "teachings". Listen once, and theres that. Its up to the person whether he/she understands it truly and it would "become" that person. No words no scriptures no form no guru no teacher. All is nothing, nothing is everything.

We need to rise beyond our afflictions of body and mind.

      Am I the only one who feels he didn’t actually answer this question? Took a long time to start, stated some platitudes, got into some related aspects of it, but didn’t really get to the heart of it.
      He was buying for time while he searched around for an answer.
      Actually, our species fixation with sex is a consequence of evolution by natural selection. We’re the descendents of people who wanted to have sex. The genes of people disinterested in sex have (more or less) dissapeared from humanity’s gene pool.
      Sex is so popular on media because now, after religious taboos have lost their power in society, we’re actually getting what we always wanted. Where there’s demand, there’s supply.
      Simple as that.

    • @edgepixel8467
      @edgepixel8467 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      He fell into the trap of living up to his “wise man” role, supposed to have an answer to everything. An honest answer would have been “look man, I don’t know everything. I do have my field of expertise, but other than that, my guess is as good as anyone else’s”
      I say “I don’t know” a lot. My father in law even jokes about it. I believe there’s no shame in admitting you don’t know something.

      His answer is that because we feel trapped within and without, we hold sex in high esteem, as it feels like the only creative thing we do. And in doing that "you destroy yourself" by placing too much emphasis on it, and not enough on the entirety of our being. rough interpretation.

      I think he did answer the question. We give so much importance to sex because it gives us a sense of absolute freedom. A very common error we make is - even though we are in love with the ultimate goal, we mistaken the way of achieving that goal or a pointer to that goal as the goal itself. In this case, we are in love with freedom, but we get attached to sex as it temporarily gives us a sense of freedom. It's quick and takes less effort but the freedom comes with it's own limitations.
      That's my understanding of it.

    for those who didn't understand what this amazing human being tells us, with atemporality i say, he is just telling us that we are what we give energy to. If we focus on the small things, the money, the sex, the furniture we are just that. If we are just concerned with things in this space time, in this world, in this life then we are just that. But when you separate yourself from these transient things, things that will not matter when we die, then you are closer to the truth. Don't get angry if you don't understand, and please, don't say that he did'nt anwser the question if you just could'nt take anything of it. For those who can understand what he is saying he said everything. Don't get taged with things in the world. It all passes. The media, the TV may make you think that i don't, that this linearity life makes all sense when it doesn't. he cleary says that spend 50 years going to work is bullshit, and even going to church isn't setting us free. Is us that got this power to set us free. Just look the truth in yourself, separeted from all in this world.

      People focus on different things at different stages of life. Young people may prefer sex old people wine if they remain fit enough to enjoy both lucky for them but they still have to fit in all the other daily activities of life and remain mentally and physically balanced. If they can do all this and more then they have not had a wasted life. We are really mostly part of the inner world where we can explore all kinds of freedom of thought but much of that is put there and not always gained via experience, but we have to function in the physical outer world where there are all kinds of restraints. How free can we truly be.? We have more apparent illusionary freedoms than ever but somehow we are actually hurtling towards O W O enslavement. The thought police are gunning for everyone. Be aware.

    Sex fulfills several different basic human needs and can be healthy but like anything else we can develop an unnatural attachment to it and it can become unhealthy in the same way food is natural but can become unhealthy. If we use either food or sex as an escape to avoid dealing with our emotions or problems in life we can get caught up in a destructive cycle of addiction and what was meant to be healthy and beneficial becomes perverted and destructive. This is not only true for food and sex but everything that is normal and healthy can become an unhealthy attachment if we do not deal with our emotions correctly. To ask the question why does sex play an important part in our life is the same as asking why does food or work play such an important part in our life. without sex none of us or anything else for that matter would be here.

    I’m talking about the beasts who have become so distorted that instead of looking at women as honorable beings (neutral manner) they look at them as sexual objects to satisfy them (distorted manner).
    People who only think of sex sex sex are weak willed and stuck at the bottom of Maslow's pyramid. Upgrade yourselves, ascend. Dont stay at the bottom in constant need and weakness. Have some self control.
    When you're in control, you honor your being. When your desires control you, you are no different from an animal. SO use the one thing that distinguishes humans from animals, your mind.

      problem is animals operate out of pure instinct. So animals are natural and sacred, doing no wrong. In seeing the purity in nature, we can see the purity in ourselves and reflect that unity outward, if we want to. It is the choice of life, of shining that light. No one to shame, no fingers to point, just the right amount of love, compassion, and grit for each situation. Not focusing on any element as separate, there is no man or woman to point to. It is all the same material dream-stuff. That is not to dismiss anything, but to care for everything to the degree you choose.

      Crazy Guy yea don’t bother man. Most people see the agreement as a cult following because the only examples of ideas they have seen followed by groups are religion. Which is full of flaws. A man not ready to accept his inner truth will always have an opinion on the other who has already accepted his truths. But in a way I can see the misunderstanding when we give too much credit to someone’s words and points. It comes off like some cult following. The thing many fail to realize is me and you and everyone here on this planet can achieve all equal level of awareness/knowledge. The whole point is that no one is over anyone or above any other one. Those who get fed up and make crazy statement I suggest you don’t respond with emotion as it only makes their point feel validated. That we question and challenge and ask ourselves questions and if at the end of this open process, you decided that he was a waste of time, I think he would have been the happiest man alive. However, not by closing your mind off simply because the question was too uncomfortable or you were too lazy....

      True. And it's not something you could try. In fact you wouldn't think about it if it was all just as it should be. I mean love is when you feel yourself aka have no unexpressed feelings that get in the way of life stream. Sounds technical? Isn't, because there is music where things just express by itself which in return fill your mind with life, inspiring you. Otherwise sex is a emotional coping thing rather.

    "Sex is like air; it's not important unless you aren't getting any"
    I would say that there are healthy ways to give it importance, and unhealthy ways to do so. JK did not distinguish in this video, and I feel like he generalizes importance as a bad thing. People also generalize the ego as a bad thing whereas I feel there are unhealthy egos and healthy egos. Healing our ego is not about getting rid of it, and same goes for the meaning we ascribe to sex (in other words, the importance we place on it).

    • @nocomments2121
      @nocomments2121 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wat he is trying to say here is that when we find certain higher creative acts (say a creative startup, or being a painter or being a yogi etc) then sex as an act of creativity becomes mundane, repetitive and limited. There are many unknown yogis, monks in India in the Himalayas who are ecstatic by their very own nature and never feel an urge for sex coz they have found higher blissful state of experiences to which sexual pleasure is of no match or is too limited or childish. So its not about doing sex in a healthy or unhealthy ways rather its about going beyond it.
