My absolute favorite disney movie! Great choice for these guys! Also love the two differing perspectives: Babu - "Father cares for the girl very much" / Sarru (annoyed): "He never leaves the girl alone!" LOL
I loved that too! Now that I'm a bit older I'll rewatch movies and see it through the eyes of the parents and not the kids and it's a totally new perspective
It's so nice to hear people from a village react to a village in fiction. Where You Are from the perspective that Moto Nui is unusually prosperous and happy makes Moana's fixation on the sea seem suicidal; it really makes me feel for her dad a lot more than I did.
The guy I loved was Maori, and this movie is very dear to me since his passing 4 years ago. It's said his people voyaged the furthest from the Polynesian Islands, the area where this movie is based from. Awesome movie, fantastic soundtrack, amazing voice cast.. truly one of my favorite Disney films.💗
Is Uncle Babu NOT the cutest human being on the planet? :) Thank you so much for giving us in the Western world Uncle Babu, I adore his words and perspective...such an honest man, he doesn't hide his opinions nor his beliefs...long live Uncle Babu!!!
He’s a beautiful soul, and it warms my heart to see the younger guys both respecting their wise elders, but also treating them as friends. I love to from the older generation but also share new knowledge.
I appreciate this videos so much. There’s so much to gain from diverse perspectives and as a millennial American miles and miles away, nothings more eye opening than how similar and different our views can be. I hope we can have some ladies react to a princess movie sometime, given their more recent attempts to make them rather ‘empowering’. I’d love to hear their perspectives and what kind of adventures they get up to in their own lives.
Their understanding of it is only something I have learned, not experienced. They felt as if they were watching an epic. The bending of the elements shows her mana. The closeness of their ancestors giving their stories and encouragement. The courage of the hero of an epic against dire odds.
I love seeing them react to these. You should also show them some 2d ones. I think they'll like Mulan. It has really nice animation, a great soundtrack and an amazing story. It's not 2d but they would also like the incredibles.
*Writing a separate comment: This, as Sarru and Babu were giving their feedback, it occurred to me, at 60, that this lifetime for me has been filled with huge challenges and knockdowns..huge ones. Devastating ones. Like Moana faced. And I feel like right now...now is my time to be facing the Lava monster...since Sept 2021 when the worst thing in the world happened...I lost one of my twin sons, before they were 16. And that is a sliver of the challenges prior to that knockdown. So that's my Lava monster. If I can figure out how to live with that, and still find a way to enjoy fully, anything again, without guilt or grief, then I will have also slayed my lava monster. If my challenges appeared as tattoos, I'd look like Maui.*
I LOVE these reactions!! They're so interested in the movie and appreciate the story telling and other culture so much. It's lovely to see. I'd love to see more movie reactions with these guys!
This was really beautiful to watch. I recently read novelizations of the Ramayana and Mahabharata, and the mythology and stories of those ancient texts are similar to the Polynesian culture shown in this movie. These 2 were so captivated and I was just beaming at their enjoyment. Thank you!
Animated Disney, movie of Robin Hood, the sword, and the stone is a huge favorite too many of all ages, and Peter Pan. Plus Alison wonderland. Those are all my favorite very early Disney movies.
Binging this channel- I want to see them react to everything from Mulan to Shawshank Redemption. Thank you for these awesome videos! So genuine and pure, I feel like I'm watching for the first time 😭🙏💖
Man, this is probably my absolute favorite Disney movie. Great that you showed them. Hm, considering that Tefiti is basically an allegory on how islands are formed by volcanic activity and conquered by life over time, I think a video on that topic would make for a great react over on Common Man Show.
I love the Moana movie so much it was a joy to watch their reactions to it. I love Disney movies that show diversity. Like Moana, Luca, CoCo and much more. ❤️
Aotearoa New Zealands North Island is called Te ika a Maui (the fish of Maui) It is said that Maui used his hook made from his grandmother's jaw bone and fished up the North Island.
Oh my thank you so much for reacting to this I'm from French Polynesia the center of the Pacific Ocean 🌊🌊 and everything in this was inspired by every Pacific islands cultures🌊🌊Te Fiti the mother island is inspired from Huahine an island from my country there's a mountain there who has the shape of pregnant woman lying down✨✨
You always have good taste with movies, Moana is wonderful ! I wonder if they saw Jurassic Park (the 1rst one, still the best), they could love it ! Greetings from France
I like seeing thwir reaction to different things, including cultures . Moana is a grear movie about family, expectations, adventure. A lot of us all around the world had the same reaction towards Moana, loving the sea, grandma being supportive, the sea helping amd peotecring her one minute but then leaving her so she can leaen and grow from mistakes and experience.
I wish Ruby had been available to watch this one. Babu and Sarru might like to know that, in the English language version, Alan Tudyk provided the voice not only for Hei-Hei, the rooster, but also for Villager #3, the only who asked 'Couldn't we just ...cook him"' While most of the animation is done by computer, Maui's tattoos were animated by hand, the old-fashioned way. Now that they've seen Moana, perhaps they would be interested a videos about Maori 'haka', a ceremonial dance-form that seems to have inspired some of Maui's moves during 'You're Welcome'. Maui is also the name of an island in Hawai'i. A video about that would also be nice. I'm so glad they liked Moana. Disney has been making full-length animated movies since 1937, when 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' was released. That be one to put on their reaction list.
I love watching all of these reactions! I just watched RRR last week, my first ever Indian movie, and was amazed at how beautiful and entertaining it was, and now I'm diving deeper into the genre. I wonder, have the Villagers seen RRR? I think it would make them very happy.
Moana based the plot on some archeological evidence that, for several hundred years, there was no expansion of humans between islands. They gave a mythological explanation.
*I love Moana. Maui is is the second largest of the Hawaiian islands today. I know you like wrestlers...Dwayne The Rock Johnson is the voice of Maui. Yes, that IS him singing. You need to show them Disney Pixar's animated version of Brother Bear...please!! They will LOVE it..I promise. I LOVE how you all get so involved and invested in 'cartoons' and were surprised when the first animated films were seen by you. You realized adults love them, too. They are movies, not really cartoons like they used to be. They are made on two levels...for kids, but also things for adults that kids don't get until they are older. A lot of my growing up involved this type of movie, as they were started when I was young.*
