The "Know Who You Are" section is simply one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. The combination of low notes, high notes, and perfect harmony produce an overall sound that is almost ethereal. It's actually a quality that musical instruments wouldn't quite be able to replicate. You could get close, but that fact that it's voices producing the sound is what makes it.
InstrucTube Every time I hear the A1 in that bass line, there’s no way I can’t hear Geoff singing it. Furthermore, when they start singing “You’ll never be quite as shiny” Eli is singing “oo” but there’s more bass notes.
Rachel Potter was a featured singer on voctave’s mashup of poor unfortunate souls and I put a spell on you. It’s absolutely incredible. You should definitely check it out.
I love the way you two react to Geoff and his low notes. It's like looking you fell in love with that sound right away. I love the part with Geoff going very deep when everything goes blue. Makes me think of a string contrabass.
Hi Beth! I've grown accustomed to your high level of cuteness. However, I can hardly handle cuteness squared with adding Sarah to the mix (Welcome Sarah!!). I had as much fun watching you two react as I did watching Rachel and VoicePlay perform. Brilliant!!!
Geoff is by far one of the best Basses in the business. I had the opportunity to sing with him nearly 20 years ago now. Was really good then but even better now!!!
Im so so so happy you did this beth. You have been going through my checklist lately. Home free...citizen queen and now voiceplay. I also really really love that you did voiceplay mainly because i love that beautiful bass Geoff Castelucci. The man is amazing. He is such strong and rich low notes compared to the more breathy tone from other basses. He also has an amazing use of subharmonics which is the like mix voice but for low notes. Would totally love to see you watch more of these guys
Considering that they could hear the lowest bass notes in the video they probably have good quality speakers at least so headphones are less important.
Whenever I start to think my voice isn't so bad, something like this comes along bringing me back to my senses. These singers have been gifted a wonderful vocal talent they've clearly had the good sense to expand upon. And yes, the composition and arrangement are just stellar. Exciting stuff to listen to and, I'm sure, an absolute thrill to create. And loved too your reactions to it all. Watching you two was just as enjoyable as seeing and listening to the music video.
I'm really happy to finally see Vocal coaches react to Voice Play you can't imagine. Their Queen video shows what they can do really well too, and I have a big bias for their Phantom of the Opera cover as well. Great video!

When you say "Geoff sounds like a Tuba" it is because he is utilizing a lot of subharmonics. It's a pretty hard singing technique especially for Bass singers (although technically every register could sing subharmonics). That's one of the reasons why Geoff sounds so different compared to let's say Avi Kaplan or Tim Foust.
I love these tag team reacts with Sarah :) so awesome :) The part the blew my mind in this was Moana confronts Te'ka ... the Polynesian vocals in the back.... I could have sworn it was the movie.... 'Ou mata e matagi Ou loto mamaina toa Manatu atu Taku pelepele Manatunatu ...' That part .... wow. Keep em coming! :)
PLEASE react to voiceplay do a cover or the little mermaid medley! It’s got Rachel in it as well and Geoff is.. purple... and amazing as usual along with the rest of the amazing voices that are a part of that incredible group!
I just can't get over that guy's low notes. The quality and warmth of it etc, it just managed to completely overshadow all the other awesomeness you guys kept pointing out. Wow.
She works regularly with VoicePlay so try a couple of these: Phantom of the Opera - Tony Wakim used to be VP's baritone but he started Pattycake Studios with Layne (original member since high school), Attention gives a different take on her abilities, Wicked, If I Were a Rich Man, I Knew You Were Trouble/As Long As You Love Me, Chandelier and of course the Little Mermaid medley epitomises Disney. I started the list with my favorite but all are outstanding.
This is for you, Beth and your vocalist friend ( and all those who are reading this and love vocal harmony). Compiled here is the best blind audition vocal harmony groups ( 2 to 4 members) from “The Voice ” in the last decade from around the world all in one youtube video. TH-cam “voice in perfect harmony” Yes, it’s 50 minutes in duration but you will hear unbelievable vocal harmonies that you both can use as a teaching tool. My favorites are the quartet on the cover that you click, the 3 girl group that are called OG3NE ( the second performance) that did a bee gees song ( they ended up WINNING THE FINALS!! and that’s so rare for a vocal group!), the twins that perform “ The Rose” ( Bett Midler hit). Fabulous! And the last performance ( Russian quartet?) that had me and one of the coaches in tears-even tho I didn’t understand a word of Russian in this traditional song. . But I FELT it! But they are all so good, Beth. When you have a free hour ( I know you are very busy) You ( or your subscribers and those into vocal harmony) will thank me. All love from SOBE, A faithful subscriber, Al
Cool fact, Rachel sang as Ariel at Disney World, Orlando. She also did Belle, and Nemo. Voiceplay does a medley of Little Mermaid songs featuring Rachel as Ariel. The arrangement for this video was done by Layne Stein, the beatboxer. Layne and Geoff do most of the arrangements. Wicked was done by Geoff.
I LOVE how the pair of you react together to Voiceplay. You should pair up to react to this group more often. If you would, I'd really enjoy seeing your paired reactions to their covers of "Phantom of the Opera", "Oogie Boogie Song", "This Is Halloween", and/or "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".
i saw in a different youtube comments section that rachel was a disneyworld ariel so no clue if that's true but you saying she needed to be cast reminded me of that
Love the reactions ladies. Rachel was on Xfactor USA. You should check out her Somebody To Love Audition Country Style. She was on Simon Cowell's team. I can't remember how far she got.
Little late, but you asked who arranged this - I believe Geoff (the bass) does most of the arrangements for VoicePlay. He's really good at it too, I love his arrangements. He also arranged Home Free and The Oak Ridge Boys' Elvira cover.
If you want to hear VoicePlay and Rachel Potter sing arrangements of songs in different genera, you may want to check out their videos for "The Phantom of the Opera" and/or "Chandelier". They are amazing!
I love reading through the comments and find a recommendation that gives something away. "You should hear the low note at the end".... this is the type person that recommends a movie...then gives away the ending...
VoicePlay and Home Free are the 2 best acapella groups out there hands down (Pentatonix is the third but they are too political). They are all great friends and are constantly jumping into each other's videos. Worth it to check out both groups. Home Free has been my favorite for years now.
That thing with the coconut getting passed from Earl to Geoff to Layne and eventually back to Earl was totally adlibbed... Just three mates messing around with a prop. I also liked Geoff's impersonation of a pipe organ setting off Beth and Sarah.
Your reactions are a joyful as listening to Voiceplay's video directly. So much fun. If you haven't done so, I'd recommend bringing back Sarah and doing a reaction to Home Free's "Fishing in the Dark / Boondocks" mash up and "Hillbilly Bone". (Their "Auld lang syne" is very smooth, too.)
That was a great reaction! So much fun and I always learn something about vocal techniques. Please react to Oogie Boogie Man by VoicePlay. Please bring back Sarah, too, you two have such good energy. Thanks.
Rachel Potter joins VoicePlay quite often and just fills out there sound. Here is her Bio from her webesite ( rachelpottermusic.com/bio ) for you reading pleasure. Also to note is that she has played Glinda from Wicked and Wednesday Adams in The Adams Family on Broadway. :D Great Reaction, Beth and Sarah! :D
Not sure who has commented, but check Rachel Potter's version of "Somebody to Love" by Queen. Its on an American talent show(AGT i think). Its a country version and i hope you like it!
I'm surprised the comments didn't mention this but it was funny when Sarah said Rachel needed to be cast because, "Rachel Potter, hailing from St. Petersburg, Florida, began her professional career at Walt Disney World, singing as Ariel, Belle and Nemo."
Just an FYI: Rachel Potter's voice is only for Disney style music. You need to watch her other collaboration with Voice Play: Chandelier is exceptional.

Fun fact: When Geoff (the bass) was singing his part, Eli (the guy with glasses) took over the bass line
I think that might have been a luxury of the studio in which Geoff added another track
@@trevornatiuk1031 when Geoff is singing, you can see Eli doing the bass line
@@anathem9982 Yes, but that's because Geoff can't sing two parts at the same time for the video, and it would look weird if Eli stopped singing :)
@@trevornatiuk1031 Eli actually did do that bass. He's doubled for Geoff before, though now it's usually J None that does it.
InstrucTube Every time I hear the A1 in that bass line, there’s no way I can’t hear Geoff singing it. Furthermore, when they start singing “You’ll never be quite as shiny” Eli is singing “oo” but there’s more bass notes.
If you think Geoff sounds like a Tuba in THIS, listen to "Panic! in Four Minutes", Parts 1 & 2. *THAT* is a Tuba. Great reaction!
Dude sound like a TUG BOAT. 😎😎😎😎
@@3912James Geoff is a tugboat. No wait, he is an alien. Or both !
You two are fun to watch because you aren't trying to fill the time with nonsense and you two appear to love the art. Beth we need more Sarah.
Yeah... Check out their version of "Oogie Boogie's Song" from Nightmare before Christmas. Geoff hits sunharmonic E1 at the end.
Imediately after shaking the rafters!.
This medley for me was one of the best performance of an accapella group... i love listening to this everyday..
Rachel Potter was a featured singer on voctave’s mashup of poor unfortunate souls and I put a spell on you. It’s absolutely incredible. You should definitely check it out.
Hey! Here is my reaction to Voctave! Hope you enjoy: th-cam.com/video/FUnMH7JDRyw/w-d-xo.html

10:05 everyone's first reaction to Geoff🤣
First? This is my reaction one year after hearing it for the first time lol
I'm a strait man and I always react like that to Geoff's voice
And then we all direct them to Oogie Boogies song and Sixteen Tons or Headless horseman
Hi Beth! I've grown accustomed to your high level of cuteness. However, I can hardly handle cuteness squared with adding Sarah to the mix (Welcome Sarah!!). I had as much fun watching you two react as I did watching Rachel and VoicePlay perform. Brilliant!!!
9:48 Geoff uses Subharmonics for the long low notes. 👌👌

Geoff Castellucci*

What do you mean "was"?? He still is a great bass singer.
Lol was? Did we miss something?
oh yes, Geoff, yes yes yes, Geoff this is amazing i love Geoff so much
I like the bass, it’s very clean..
I'm so happy that you reacted to VoicePlay and Rachel Potter!!! Such amazing singers. You have to check out Phantom of the Opera by the same ensemble.

i saw in a different youtube comments section that rachel was a disneyworld ariel so no clue if that's true but you saying she needed to be cast reminded me of that
"Her tone is so DIsney musical theater..."
Appropriate given that she started off as a character singer at a Disney theme park.
It is nice that vocal professionals confirm what I think is such a great presentation.
During the Tamatoa part (Geoff), Eli takes over the bass notes.
with his high range I was impressed with his nice fill in the bottom part for that section as well! Great voices all around with them!

Layne the beat boxer did the arrangement for this one.
I'm not sure if anyone has brought this up, but Geoff does many of the arrangements for the group. He has also done some for Home free.
Little late, but you asked who arranged this - I believe Geoff (the bass) does most of the arrangements for VoicePlay. He's really good at it too, I love his arrangements. He also arranged Home Free and The Oak Ridge Boys' Elvira cover.
Thanks Love this so much Beautiful They are all very talented. Please react to More if Voice Play feat Rachel Potter!😍😍😍🔥🔥❤️✌🏻
When the bass vocalist is carrying the group that is already objectively incredible on his back...
“His voice is so warm!”
“That bass though”

I absolutely love your reactions to this!!!! The way y'all felt is how I feel about this. Her name is Rachel Porter
I love reading through the comments and find a recommendation that gives something away. "You should hear the low note at the end".... this is the type person that recommends a movie...then gives away the ending...
geoff's voice is perfect for that song
You should definitely react to Voice Play's panic! covers and their Queen medley ❤️😃 they're so good
Most of VoicePlay's songs are created by the bass singer Geoff Castellucci. I think this was one of his best so far
Rachel Potter got her start performing in Disneyworld. Her Disney style is very practiced.
I believe Goeff and maybe others started off in theme park stuff also.
VoicePlay and Home Free are the 2 best acapella groups out there hands down (Pentatonix is the third but they are too political). They are all great friends and are constantly jumping into each other's videos. Worth it to check out both groups. Home Free has been my favorite for years now.

When Geoff does those deep notes, the ground begins to rumble.
this reaction was ssoooooo great, more please!!
Rachel was a contestant on americas got talent, she is a country singer.
You wondered who arranged this. It was Layne (Vocal Percussionist) that arranged this and most of their pieces.
"It's sooooo deep, and the warmth in it!!"
damn girl, I didn't know it was gonna be that kind of video.

Beth, you should definitely react to Michael Kiske either "How Many Tears" live in Koln or "March of Time" with the Metal Symphonic Orchestra.

Not sure who did the arrangement either, but I know Home free has thanked Geoff, the bass, for arrangements at the end of their videos.
I can’t who is my bass Idol Geoff Castelluci Tim Foust or Avi Kapaln
The arrangements are written by the beatboxer(layne)
rachel potter is the voice of ariel at disneyland!
I get to watch a video with two beautiful looking lady's . sounds like a cool sound.this group remains me of Pentonix

Lol, them flipping out over Geoff when he isn't even going low yet...

she auditioned for X Factor US with queen hit somebody to love
Beth should cover their Oogie Boogie Man.
I’m watching this at school living my best life lol
1:22 this why i envy the basses...
They’ve done a little mermaid medley with Rachel too!
If you are in a Disney cover mood, you should check out Georgia Merry. She does some pretty good Disney medleys.

There is a video out there with range comparison of this bass and Tim Fouts of Home Free.
I would highly recommend using headphones to get the full effect. You 'll hear things you didn't know you were missing.
Sad to see that you only have 1 reaction to Voctive🥺 you definitely need to react to more
