Perfect Timing! My wife told me that our old Shark vacuum died so I went online and found your excellent review. She had about 3 hours before Costco closed so she went to get one while I attempted to fix the old one. We totally loved that old Shark, it was so convenient and everything fit together perfectly, no fumbling to empty the bin or remove and replace the whole lift away unit or the wand. I took the vacuum unit apart and was able to fix it but I told her to keep the new one as well. Thanks for your review. Liked and Subscribed.
I'm glad that the review helped! It's great that you were able to fix your previous vacuum and now you have another great one of top of it. Thanks for subscribing
Nice to see a review on this specific model (UV700) as it's currently on sale at Costco again (now $199.99). We just moved into a house with hardwood floors and we are adding area rugs. We also plan to get a dog in the future. So this review seems to nail everything I was curious about. Too bad the cord doesn't auto-store within the vacuum, but I suppose that would make it impossible to use as a lift away and also would add more weight. There's always trade-offs. I like the suction power you mentioned and the wood/carpet button. I was also considering the cheaper Navigator model (UV725), but I think the UV700 is the one to go with after seeing your review.
Thank you for this review! I also love Vacuum Wars. Slightly addicted to their videos 😂 hoping to score a good deal this holiday season a vacuum like this. My old one (Bissell 9595) is a champ and really does an awesome job getting dust out of the carpet, but the filter system isn’t sealed so some of that dust is flying right back out 😣 ready to upgrade!
Thanks for watching! Their videos are so satisfying lol. I saw that the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Upright is on sale right now at Costco. It's less expensive but it still has the HEPA filter 🙂
@@danib4662 I actually was able to snag a Shark at Walmart this last weekend for $99! It doesn’t have the DuoClean or Lift-Away features that yours does, but it has the self-cleaning brushroll and the filter I wanted. My old vacuum was a champ, as I said, so there hasn’t been much difference in how much is collected, but I definitely felt the air I was breathing while vacuuming was cleaner due to the filter. Absolutely thrilled, and can use the rest of my vacuum budget towards a carpet cleaner. Thanks again for your review!
Thank you for this video! We just bought a like-new one at a thrift store, and your video really helped us learn how to use it and what to expect. Thanks again.
@@danib4662 Hi, I purchased the 850 which went on sale at Costco. Have it now for a couple of weeks. Liking the small footprint, and gets our mix Lab/GSD fur out. Love the HEPA, it not light at over 13 lbs. but nothing like our old Bissell . I have an 11 1/2 month old toddler who toddling all around the house. The 850 does a very good job of keeping our floor clear of dog fur, and air dust free
There is an air release valve, so you can make it easier to push. Also fun fact, when a vacuum picks something off a surface, its not suction, its airflow. Suction is good for something like picking up water. Suction is almost useless when cleaning. Higher airflow, the better. Though suction will be the reason the vacuum is harder to push
Great video and very informative. I noticed you have cat and would love to know how does the vacuum brushes handle picking up cat litter that gets on the carpet? And how often do you have to clean the brushes?
The litter doesn't get to the carpet since we have mainly hardwood floors. However I use it to vacuum up the litter on the hardwood and it works great!
Where is the on/off switch? Is it on top near the handle? Does it have the option of bleeding away the suction power while going over the area rugs? The price you mentioned I believe is the US price, right.
Thank you for watching. The power switch is located where you switch between carpet and hard floors, you just push that button. There is an option to change the suction power, although that may only to apply in lift away mode. The price was US dollars through Costco. The sale is over but I listed the non sale price in the video. Hope this information helps!
Sharks are great. We had a duo slim mini that unfortunately just broke the other day after about 2 years. The button that holds the soft brush broke so the brush kept falling out. Shark is replacing it for free with one of these. We have really been satisfied with ours until it broke. Hope this one will be just as good or better. Should be anyway.
@@danib4662 I'm ok with it not being mini. Made doing my larger rooms a bit time consuming. Question...does hair still get wrapped up in this? I see it isn't supposed to but wasn't sure if that actually worked.
I have long hair and a cat that sheds and it hasn't been a problem so far. I've only had to clear a blockage once but it was super quick and easy and the blockage did not involve hair wrapped around the roller. Only the smaller roller attachment doesn't have the same brush roll so hair can get wrapped in that one but it's so small that it's not an issue for me to clean
It's still working well for me! The only thing that I don't love unfortunately is the rotating attachment. That one is hit or miss, sometimes it attaches well and spins and other times not so much. Hair also gets caught in this attachment even though that's not an issue with the main base. Seems like a lot of people want powered lift aways and this doesn't have that option but I don't mind that.
@@danib4662 thanks for the response. I have an opportunity to buy it new for $160. Do you think that's a fair price? Not trying to annoy you, just looking for some feedback from someone who has actually put this vacuum through some real life testing.
No problem. I personally think it's worth that price though I've only had it about half a year. Main perks for me have been power, suction hose (even without attachments), allergen seal, main brush roll (still no hair tangled hair!)
Thanks! I have shag carpet in our new place and it's been handling it well. You could probably find something better for more money but I think for the price point it's really competitive and performs super well.
Is that a California accent? Anyway thank you for this great review, I appreciate it. Was debating about getting a Shark or not and just decided to go for it!
Hmm that's odd. I haven't had any issues using it on the carpet setting on my runners. Is it a small rug? If so I would probably recommend using the attachments. When you're using the hose with attachments you can change the suction power in case the issue is that the rug is getting sucked up into the larger vacuum roll.
Small rugs like door mats have always been tricky for me too. I've never found a vacuum that doesn't suck them up. Luckily it's very easy to switch to the attachments. But worse comes to worse Costco has the best return policy, in case it is a deal breaker.
It is a lift away but not a powered lift away. Lift-Away means that the main unit can be detached from the wand at the click of a button, turning your upright vacuum into a portable. Powered Lift Away delivers power directly to the brush roll head even in Lift Away mode. The main brush roll head (base) on this one does not work in lift away mode.
It is a lift away vacuum so the dust bin lifts from the base and can be carried as you use the smaller attachments. You can use the smaller attachments connected directly the the top handle/hose if you need something shorter or you can use them with the longer hose if you are cleaning floors or ceiling fans and need something a bit longer.
I do! I think it's great for the price, particularly if you can get it on sale. It's not a powered lift away, which I don't mind but it seems like a lot of people are looking for that.
Hmm that's so strange. For me it just felt a tiny bit heavier to push but it's worked for me even on shag carpet. If you bought it at Costco they should accept the return with no problem!
