    I would not recommend Blue Devil Oil Stop Leak. For me, it did not work, only slowed the leak down some.

    Just some friendly info for those using the product from one who has used it on a 95 Camry v6. First application slowed it way down, (it was bleeding out a pint an hour) dropped to teaspoon an hour after couple hours of letting it run. Second dose a week later reduced it to a few drips now and then. My leak was the rear valve gasket. Replace the front with ease but the rears are a nightmare to access, even tire kingdom wouldn't touch. So I looked up and found blue devil. From what I've found and experienced, One application usually isn't enough to fully seal the leaks, especially if the seals are VERY old, like over 15 years. Your best bet is to add a second dose of the blue devil with a new oil change. Better still get the bule devil 3 in 1 pro version which also works on power steering leaks. but for oil leaks it even says if one application doesn't fully seal leak, add a second application. hope this gives some insight. I fully recommend it as a first option.

      After the Second Bottle did it Fix the Leak Permanently?

    • @Phoenixesper1
      @Phoenixesper1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MB1Billion I suppose I should do a follow up so here we go. So 7 months after using blue devil on my 95 camry v6 2 bottles, heres the results. Their is still an oil leak, however i would say a month after the second bottle it reduced by about 90 percent and has more or less remained that way. I'd say I'm losing a quart of oil a month through little drips here and there. But ultimately I do not fault the product. It effectively did do what it advertises, my issue is that my valve cover gasket is so old and worn out that it is likely cracked and as such no amount of blue devil will 100% seal it now. However it has swelled and exanded the seal around the crack(s) enough to reduce it to a trickle. I would say so long as the gaskets aren't cracked this product has a high probability of stopping a leak. If its cracked, its still a great stop gap especially if its a bad leak and repairs can't be done quickly. A quart a month versus a quart every couple days os a huge improvement. So there you have it my long term apprasial. I hope this helps out those curious about it.

    Stop leak does not work good (or even not at all) with hyper modern rubber seals, the brown and blue ones are Viton or Neoprene seals...they are resistent. Stop seal works best with BUNA (synthetical black rubber seals = NBR) On vintage cars with NBR rubber gaskets most stop leak additives work pretty well.

    I got an 03 s10 4.3 pickup. I just noticed small leaks of what I believe to be Gear oil from the Front Differential from where the Drive shafts go in. I put 2 oz of BLUE DEVIL oil stop leak into a bottle of 75w-90 gear oil then shot it in my front differential. Didnt shake the gear oil I wanted the blue devil to sit on the oil so 2 oz went in then the gear oil. My gear box took like a pint of gear oil. I drove up and down the road at 50 mph for like 30 minutes. So far i think the 2 leaks from each Shaft seal have been dissolved by the blue devil slightly then pushed into the leaks..... that's the only way this worked i can figure. The blue devil is a solvent that dissolves ur seals slightly then pressure pushes the goo into the leaks and it seals I guess. Maybe I'll post an update but so far I honestly think it may have worked for me in my differentials.
    I really don't trust magic elixirs in bottles but I've used a few things on piece of crap cars. I've used Bars leaks after I hit some gravel and my radiator fins were leaking the bars leaks stopped the leak. I dont know what longterm effects were of the bars leak.

    I used this on my 2000 Excursion V10 for a minor oil leak, it stopped completely after about 3000 miles and I’ve used it on other vehicles where it just slowed up the leaks. If you have broken or cracked gaskets or orings it really can’t repair them.

      @@BuildYourOwnNot to bad, it leaks about 4 or 5 drops of oil a month on the garage floor. It was definitely worth trying it. I did find what was leaking, it’s a rubber seal, built in the head gasket for the oil passage to the valve train. It takes a long time for the oil to seep through between the block and head being that it has to get past all of the head gasket area first.

    I used Blue Devil Rear Main Sealer on my 97 Jeep 4.0, rear main seal has been leaking for years right on my exhaust, a lot of smoke & oil smell once up to temp.
    I got the engine up to Temp. & poured all 8 0z's in at idle then drove it about 5 miles. Then let it idle for about 3 hours. NO LEAK AT ALL, NO OIL SMELL, NO SMOKE but it's only been about a week & 30 miles.
    I don't drive my Jeep that much about 5,000 a year but I plan to drive it more & see if it starts leaking again. So far So good for me, I was loosing about a quart every 3,000 miles. I hate dumping things like this in my engine but took a chance on Blue Devil & I hope it lasts ?

    I agree just get the repair done cheap fixes will never work you have two beautiful vehicles but they will be nothing if they are not running properly and another thing used vehicles are not new vehicles so you will encounter problems when you purchase a used vehicle so don't get mad but it's a shame how new vehicles nowadays are given the most problems to consumers

    Your truck is probly leaking into the valley from the cylinder head gasket. I have a Dodge challenger 3.6 pentastar motor. That's my problem. Bank 1 (passenger side) it has a tiny leak. I changed the oil filter housing thinking it was that. But I used oil dye and saw a small leak from the the front bottom of the cylinder head to the engine block dripping a very small amount of oil into the Valley.

      Sounds like Blue Devil worked.
      He later talljed about putting a different motor in it, a V8, etc. and his tone was noticeably different than before.
      I would guess his change of plans could be juxtified by the oil leak and thats the direction he wanted to go in, along with saying he tried a product to no avail, yadda yadda. Credibility?
      So get the V8 already.
