glad you didn't quit on that, not sure how long you spent (unedited) on it but consider the knowledge gained and the community bonds formed in that time, plus the fact that you got the desired result. Quoting Jip from Human Traffic " He who dares, wins. He who dares, my son." :)
Finally caught up after binging every episode this month. Thanks for all the content Joey! Love this series and have told lots of people about it. Love Sally's Spreadsheet bits the most, very honest
Something I have noticed quite a lot with all the fixing videos ive watched is that buying spare or repair things for a lot of money looks like it is more likely to be a disaster. Its as though the piranhas go in, do their best to repair a cheap but potentially massively profitable thing then they cant so they put it all back together as neatly as possible and then ask £200 for it. Things bought for small amounts are way more likely to be private sellers who dont know what to do to mend their gadget, decide that instead of binning it they will just 'try' to get a fiver and stick it up for sale. They are happy if they get the fiver. Glad this one worked out eventually.
One part that is not being accounted for in the spreadsheet is de extra parts left over from buying these defective consoles. If you consider the amount of leftover parts you get like this it is actually quite sustainable and if you sold all these extra parts (which would make future fixes difficult tbf) you would be in quite a bit of profit.
@@trevor245What is unaccounted for on the spreadsheet is the considerable time spent. He is showing £31 loss overall. Even if you just take this single job at £54 profit, that is probably less than UK minimum wage.
Your channel is best for peope who want to run small business for repair and sell…you very very good explane people how to do this…thank you and i wish you all best ❤
That's the killer with Ebay, almost everything you buy that's broken has been looked at. I stopped buying from Ebay years ago because it's impossible to make a decent wage unless you get incredibly lucky. To be fair this is a great video series because you're not reliant on the ebay profit or loss to pay your bills but without YT you cannot make a living doing this kind of thing.
Hey Joey I just wanted to say congrats on fixing another console keeping out of the scrap. I also wanted to let you know that I enjoy all of your videos, and I hope you will make more videos like this one where you dive deeper into the problem if makes the content more educational and entertaining. Anyway love from America.
Another one Lives, Dr Joey on call 🙂. Great job as always, i pick up a few ideals from you, you getting better and better. Soon be back in profit and hope it stays there for you
Wick always looks enormous on camera but IRL it's actually tiny, just makes me smile because repairs look so simple on camera but these things are so small when you've got them on the board🤣🤣 I tend to tape the chip to the template with Kapton tape and then press down on the template to ensure I get every ball, it works for me anyway (most of the time) but it ain't for everyone and if your way works best for you then great👍👍👍 love tap🤣
After removing the SB and Joey said "I'm not even really pushing down on the iron, just letting the wick do the work" is like reminding me of Gordon Ramsay saying "I not pushing down on the fish and let the knife do the work" 😂😂
@@JoeyDoesTech Don't be so humble. Where I live, many repair shops simply refuse to work on the motherboards so seeing this blows my mind. I have repaired a fair share of electronic devices myself, but regarding motherboard chip swaping, I wouldn't even know what to test for. Hats off to you.

It's so dastardly that someone would list it for just no power knowing it has had that much work done on it. I'd send it back for a refund. Especially for 200 lbs. Good job fixing it!
Hi Joey, thanks for the great videos, I've learned a lot from you and other youtubers. I wanted to hear your thoughts on the new rules at ebay whereby they are obliged, from 1st January 2024, to hand over sellers gross earnings to hmrc for taxing purposes?
I have a gpu, GTX 1080 and theres a short on almost eveey cap around the memory chips, and underneath the gpu die. Am i right in assuming thr die itself has probably gone? Like not fixable.
The bios being bricked makes sense. If the bios is fucked then it’s not able to tell the components what to do. Had something like this happen on my computer when I decided to update the bios because “what could go wrong” I thought. Yep I nearly bricked my 1400 dollar pc but for me I was able to pop out the bios battery and it reset to factory. This tho is a whole new level of using bios with consoles of having it on the chip and no battery to reset it to factory.
What does a DEC field service guy do when he has a flat tire? He is changing tires one by one to see which one is flat. What does a DEC field service guy do when he runs out of gas? He is changing tires one by one to see which one is flat.
Well done but time you add in postage say £15 so £40 profit then some tax at 20% left with £32... I love and hate your videos 😂 one you have a lot of skill which everyone will copy what you do then sell it on eBay... You can never know if the console you buy has had 5 people work on it or none. I started fixing consoles to learn but you can't buy them now they go for crazy money. £200 risk/reward is crazy. If you buy 10 and 10% have an Apu fault then you'll never be in the green. I like your videos but I think people watch them to copy you and unfortunately unless you have thousands in spare cash you can't.
Do you know that you have lost way more than 31.77? You are only considering accounting profit and not economic profit. With the time you have spent fixing these items, you could have made hundreds or thousands. It's called opportunity cost.
Big win on this one joey, good for you. I'm just starting to get into soldering. I am still completely lost on measuring components though. Just need more practice. Ninjakill129

probably one of the best repairs videos I've seen in delivery
you have come along way since you started. keep up the good work.
Congrats on the fix! Fixing something you have been troubleshooting is one of the greatest feelings a person can have.
That was incredible staying power. Glad you didn't give up, congrats on the fix!
Excellent work Joey! That's the way to stay in the fight and get it done!

Thankyou Kyle! Awesome that you’ve binge watched, glad you enjoyed pal :)
great work in diagnosing the issue, good for you to stick with it!
I LOVE it when you triumph with a repair - especially if it looks like someone else with skill had a look and couldn't fix it. Nice work!

Good job Joey, I would have done the boot sequence check first, but in the end it all worked out, good luck.

Very very nice video and fix Joey. We can see your experience growing. Love this series keep it up 💪🏻
Great work and persistence, Joey! Dare I say you are on a roll????
Awesome fix. The knowledge you share is priceless 🤙🏼
I just found your channel on this vid due to the algorithm. Great job on that console. Very professional work for a hone lab. Loved the video, thanks!
Thank you! Appreciate it, enjoy the content :)
How you managed to get that fixed, is completely beyond me. Good job on the repair!
Joey, nice one. :) That was why UART was not responding. Very interesting that a bad nor data can lead to a kind of shorted/low 3.3V rail.
Toltecmerc is a legend & very underated on TH-cam for his skill set. It's nice to see his name mentioned on other channels
Great video! The positivity on your videos is awesome
Well done Joey! The knowledge is growing...
Well done Joey. Thats a big outlay though for minimal profit.
One of my favorite episodes so far! Was rooting for you the whole time!

Great save Joey.....we would never hear the end of it from Sally otherwise.

One hell of a save that one😊

Congrats on the fix!! Super happy for you!
Nice job Joey. Perseverance is key.

damn, nice fault finding!
Send it back I would because that's terrible them saying it a power fault when they clearly have been in it and changed components
Awesome video, you just kept going until it was fixed.
