Being honest, I don't actually think it warrants it. This seller listed the items saying that they haven't actually been inside them, and the risk of me as a buyer is making that purchased based on that information. Morally, it's probably not great from them as basic checks could be carried out (for example the disc drive looks like it's been opened etc) but in terms of actually selling on eBay, they listed for Parts and Not Working with a description saying that they haven't been in the console.
I enjoy these type of videos because i enjoy working on electronics as well i try post my work still got alot to learn but really who doesn’t have something to learn
You may ask sellers to supply photos of the consoles without the covers on to see if you can see if work has been done in them . May save you some money and time. Also if the seller is truthful they usually help with information and photos. I buy watches and it's amazing how much deception sellers will go to just to sell you something. With the no returns accepted on their adverts. If it's to good to be true and it doesn't feel right walk away.
As a seller myself, I wouldn’t do that. Waste of my time. As a buyer, I don’t buy from eBay sellers who sell lots of video game consoles fixed or not. Tells me that they know more than they are letting on when they say “untested” or “other issues may be present I am not aware of.” I have much better luck buying broken consoles from sellers who sell other items. Means they came across the console randomly and are much more likely to not have the ability to test, or just test on a limited scale and move it on without opening it up.
Yooo Joey! I told you about the ultrasonic cleaner that I was getting with degassing and sweeping and puls and I'm getting it in a few hours. Can't wait to tell you about it next time you are live! So cool that lately before dinner I watch your live stream and it's cool man :) Piece Steven
I'd love to see you branch out to other electronics apart from gaming consoles, while i still really enjoy the repairs, i'd love to see you out of your comfort zone, and really challenging yourself, love the content Joey, keep it up!
Why are the broken PS5s so expensive? Even if on buys them for parts cannibalization - wouldn't is be better to buy used working ones ... and be sure that all parts are working.
What have they done this PS5?!.. crazy.. but you made it, made a good video out of it and most important: you made Sally happy. Since I can't the Live Stream today: have fun!
You probably know this but you can convert a disc version to a digital version by rewriting the bios. Coder has tons of videos on how to do this. IDK if it is financial worth but could be worth a shot if they are scrap otherwise.
Pass to season 2 and add some spicy things like giveaways :) example :i bought a faulty x and this will be a giveaway for those who wants to try and fix it etc :). This series are the best in my opinion
Btw, the Bluray drives are not motherboard specific therefore they are interchangeable. No need to replace the small board like in previous generations.
16:41 I wish you had a column that shows potential parts cost. I know you have a lot of spare parts, but a lot of us would want to know roughly how much would have actually cost. We don't have those that is why it would have been better to have that column.
The parts costs are included in the total - as long as only consoles are used that have previously been written off. Estimating the parts cost is not that easy if you buy consoles and then cannibalize them. You would have to do many assumptions.
I have to ask: have you had any more luck buying up lots rather than one at a time? Or for that matter, trying to sell off some of your random inventory as sort of a grab bag at a price? Also, have to ask, has the nintendo switch market gotten really bad, or are none of them failing?
Nice result there, but yeah, please tell us who this random person is so that we can avoid buying from them! They are just more hassle than they are worth - faulty disc drive, faulty fan, faulty southbridge, faulty led ribbon cable, what next ?!
Joey. Can you give me advice on what could be wrong with my ps5? I had the consile horizontal and its never been moved or touched but when i touch the cable, the picture goes and comes back. The port seems loose and wiggles.
Probably someone accidentally knocked your console and the port got damaged ,or just a faulty cable ,if it's not the cable the port is damaged and needs replacement
Joey, it would help if you exposed the seller for the scammer he or she is before they burn someone else. They purposely swapped in bad parts and sold the system. It was not an accident and Ebay should shut them down
I don't think y'all get it, his videos have always been about teaching, he doesn't WANT to report and expose the seller.. he wants to show them how to better next time, thats not what this series is about
Joey joey joey you have made a noobie mistake phil at thecoder will be shaking his head you used the console killer to see if it worked .FIFA what were you thinking 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ok! I Like your approach but I think you proved that it's difficult to make a living by just repairing as you do. I hope the TH-cam model brings you more than the Excel sheet tells us for quite a long while now. Let me know. Best! Job
At least with PS5s ... high prices for the broken ones and comparatively low prices for the used ones. After shipping, ebay fees, etc. - you basically would have to be able to fix over 90% of consoles with an take an average of 1-2hours max to fix them. So not feasible.
Joey, please tell us what ebay seller you are buying these from, so we can avoid them.
Leave a seller a bad review joey
Name and shame

@@JoeyDoesTech they purposely swapped out faulty parts that's pretty dodgy
You need to start naming these sellers so no-one else buys from them.
Ever get the feeling that these consoles with faulty parts are coming from other repair persons or shops just trying to recoup their losses?
I enjoy these type of videos because i enjoy working on electronics as well i try post my work still got alot to learn but really who doesn’t have something to learn
Nice work. The perfect use of donor consoles they come in use eventually
Well done Joey. Out of interest, are you finding more and more sellers putting parts together for a console then to selling the whole thing as faulty?
It's really hard to prove it 😢 If they are, morally it's awful but what can you do?

Great Repair and Video! Ebay weasels strike again. See you in the next one. Thank You. 😀
Great to see such a battered and mistreated PS5 get put back in one piece! Maybe put it in one of your nicer cases you have and it's good as new?
That one felt good! Great job!!

Love the video Joey. I am intrigued though. How much is all the profit added together and how much is all the losses added together.

Are you sure?

Hi Joey, do you ever sell via Facebook Marketplace? The reason I ask is that you wouldn’t pay any commission there, whereas eBay is almost 10%!
Joey can you post a link for that PS5 Duel Sence Controller drift fix site i see you use on a live stream a few weeks ago please
Nice fix, Joey- tell me though, are you just trolling Phil with your use of FIFA for testing??? 🤣
Joey, 480 degrees Celsius is the temperature on the surface of Venus, ;0 do you mean Fahrenheit?

always check firmware version before update, there is JB for PS5 on some low FW and price is always higher then.
Sally is smiling tonight
I hope you give the seller a bad review
It’s obvious they swapped out faulty parts, scumbags. It’s typical eBay behaviour. However, you deserved this win, well done my man!
Hi joey I have a PlayStation 5 but the dvd drive doesn’t read games but will read dvds any ideas on what the problem is
Series x works fine wiggle the hdmi goes off and on when in the right place stays on £150 with a replacement hdmi port ?

try GPUs, other consoles, try buying a box full of faulty stuff from Japan. just saying...
That led flex cable looks torn.
Yeah, he swapped it.

It seems like the original owner took the thing apart to retrieve the disc and then sold it for parts.
I have been wanting a PS5. Do you ship to the US? Every time I look at your shop there isn't anything lol

I would leave PlayStation 5 alone. They are complete rubbish and very poorly made
