My '14 SF Limited's BSD doesn't work for years now. Dealership told me $300+ just to scan. I can live without it, but I paid extra $ for it. Anyway, your video saved me money for real! It turned out that the main wiring harness for the bsd rear radars is just loose. 'Went under the rear bumper, unplugged the harness, cleaned the pins and plugged it back. 'Drove around to recalibrate and they're working again! Thanks for the very informative video! 👍👍
When your harness was not connected did the switch on the dash light up when pressed? I’m trying to figure this out I don’t want to buy a new switch if I have a harness issue myself. Mine gives no check BSD warning it just acts like it’s not installed.
As a past fire fighter, great seeing how quick response and decisive action can save surrounding businesses. I do question the person running the cutting saw on the garage door, why he was not in full bunker gear as required protection. Another great job on BSD-R fix. I have a similar problem on 2012 Infiniti QX56 and need to find someone here in the North Fort Worth, TX area that is as talented as you in proper diagnostics detection and repair. Thank you for another awesome find and fix video.
Thankyou so much for explaining this. I was able to fix the same issue with my wife's 2017 Sante fe ultimate. The dealer kept telling us that a new cable was needed!!! I went under the rear bumper and disconnected the two EXPOSED sensor cables. I sprayed Mass Air Flow cleaner into the connectors. The BSD dash error went immediately away. So did a few other error lights. It appears as if Hyundai put these cables in a very exposed area. Road grime, car washes. Rain etc. are able to directly affect these cables. They should have at least protected the cable connectors. Bad design 🙄
Eric another very well presented video. Good troubleshooting procedure and explanation. Like your way of explaining the power and it’s importance to starting your testing procedure. Thank for taking the time to give us this video. 👍👍👍
Eric, Excellent info and thought process very enjoyable to watch and can u tell me which autel u have and any info about autel elite cheeeeers and always appreciate ur videos.
Seems to be a problem with Kia & Hyundai since they're pretty much interchangeable. I had the same issue on my 2017 Kia Sorento. I unplugged that rear left side harness, blew out and plugged back in...problem solved. Thank you very much for this helpful video. For those others trying this out, you can easily get to the harness from under the vehicle without removing the whole bumper...at least that was the case with my Sorento, just FYI.
@@Randy_Savage_ohyeah Actually a few days later the sensor failed again. Took the bumper off and found that the mounting bracket was damaged. Tweaked a bit to match the right side and had my buddy recalibrate at his shop. Been good now for the last 4 months. No issues.
Most people do not know how to adjust their mirrors. I rode with my uncle many years ago, and he told me if all mirrors are adjusted correctly you should have no blind spots. The problem is people adjust the side/door mirrors in too much and they see their own car. Why do you need to see your own car? You're sitting in the thing it's not going anywhere without you. The side mirrors need to be moved out to cover the back blind spot. My uncle told me when a car moves from behind and next to you, either side, you should see the car in your rearview mirror the one attached to the windshield. When the car is moving out of the rearview mirror you should be able to just move your eyes, not your whole head, to the side mirror and the car should be visible in that mirror, if not the mirror is in too far. Once the car moves forward from the side mirror it should be visible out the corner of your eye in the window. Adjusted correctly any vehicle moving into view should be visible at all times in either mirror or from the window, if not blind spot not covered. This blind spot detector is a waste of money, too complicated and just another gadget prone to failure.
very informative. I have a 2016 Azera. The BDS system check message came and the dealer found the left sensor defective. Replaced the sensor and the bracket and half way down the road back the message came on again. Took it back, had it recalibrated but again the message. Looks like the calibration is not holding. Any idea about what could be the problem? Many thanks in advance
Thanks for the video. I purchased a ioniq hybrid. The model I purchased does not have blind spot detection. Would you know if I would be able to install all the factory parts and enable it myself? Thank you for your time.
I know this is a older Santa Fe but I wonder if my issue is the same? My blind spot monitor switch does not turn on when being pressed and I have no error codes saying to check the system.. but it won’t turn on when pressing the button.
I have a 2020 Hyundai Elantra sel has triangle with exclamation mark on dashboard. When car is turned on it displays self check and displays left rear collision sensor but don't see any damage or collision with it. Did a complete wash and clean to see if that helped but didn't. Thanks for the video any feedback appreciated
Hey bud i got a problem with a hyndai sonata 2015 but the codes i get is c120b15 and c120d15 which is LED Left and Right circuit short to battery or open but i cannot find the problem I got the codes with a snap on scanner any suggestions bud??
Hi , another great video as usual. I was wondering if you may be able to give a short review of the autel that you’re using as it looks like it’s a great bit of kit, thanks, Chris.
Had a 2015 sonata, C120B-15 R. Led(mirror) short to B+ or open. The threshold in service data says 6.5 volts with the led off. Had an aftermarket mirror. Voltage was 3.0 volts but continued to set code. Fortunate for me, both the left and right mirrors have the same pinout and connector configuration. Swapping the mirrors gave me the proof that 3.0 volts on the led circuit was too high. Just goes to show that aftermarket parts aren't always the way to go. You cant put aftermarket parts on these.
No, they wanted him to check before they ordered modules to see if he could solve the issue, your thinking about reprogramming, but this is just a quick calibration to make sure they work correctly. Hope that helps...
I have a tough one for you: 2017 Santa Fe XL. Cold weather, 0'F or less, starts right away in morning (cold soak, no block heater), drive short distance to store, shut off engine, come out after about 15 minutes - the car might then start, but most of the time it ignores the start and goes to ACC mode - never cranks. Wait 1/2 hour or so - starts right up, or hold the start button in for 30 secs or so, it cranks and starts, but dash is lit with lots of warnings - NO POWER STEERING! - really HARD to turn. go home, park. Next day OK again. ???? Hate winter!
That looks like the wiring diagrams we get from all the large data companies we pay through the nose for in the UK. Drawn by a 3 year old! But in your case your lucky the 3 year old has some coloured crayons!
This there is proof there is never a dull day for techs!

Going for a lie down now.
It was still too close for comfort. Thanks for watching!

Thanks man!
My wife's 2018 Santa Fe is showing the BSD light... I'm going to look for the harness and see what happens. Thanks for the idea!
Fantastic info! Dont you just love it when you have easy access.
Yeah. But it’s usually because these car dealers don’t want to pay my labor for taking stuff apart lol
It's good they get a second opinion
I recently found your channel and I really like your approach......I'm hooked. Keep them coming. Thanks

Did you have to recalibrate?

What if "bsd canceled" and then "check bsd system" comes back after short time?
Do you know why my kia would have a fault display, but still work?
Any idea how much the dealer may charge to fix "bsd system"?
My local Kia dealer wanted 500 just to check and 250hr + after
Emergency nose bleeds and shops on fire... man you’ve got stories.
I have so many untold stories. I should have a reality show lol
😂😂 Viva la Houston
I have the stupid BSD light on my Genesis. If I unplug the sensors will the light go away?

Wait, they changed the modules and still had problems because of a loose cable or why did you have to code them again ?

How much charge to fix this problem?
How are you supposed to do a functional test on these, cut someone off?
My 2018 toyota corolla blind spot light flashing I can't turn of it, with should I do with that please?

What is the company or name of you scan tool
El CUATE V It looks like an Autel MaxiSys scan tool.
Do you ever use any kind of contact spray for the connectors?
Do you know what caused the fire
I believe they were storing flammable liquids in unsafe containers.
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO god there looky none of the customers cars got destroyed

Not gonna lie. I blew air on my screen without even realizing it when he unplugged that harness 🤦♂️
I have the same vehicle even the same year and mine does the exact same thing 🙄
Great! If you need a Blind Spot Detection to Drive, take an Uber, for all our sakes...
Most people don't need blind spot detection, until that one fatal time they do.
