The back door lift button is located at the correct place. It is accessible for the driver as well as the front passenger and helps both look the door open simultaneously through the mirror,
Exactly. This is where it has been on Minivans for decades. And having both the Front & Rear Defroster BUTTONS together Right Beside the driver is brilliant on Hyundai's part.
From the day I took delivery of my 2017 Santa Fe the only thing I did not like was the ride. It was very rough riding. I asked several forms and could not get a definitive answer. I was told by several people that the tires were the problem. They said the Kumho tires that the car came with were crap and the cause of the rough ride. Well, at 14,254 miles I bit the bullet and put on a set of Michelin Premium LTX 235/55/R19 tires. The difference in the rides was amazing! It is like night and day. While not a 10, the ride has to be somewhere around an 8 or so. I could not be happier and not sorry at all that I spent the money and switched. I hope this helps other owners in their quest for a smoother ride.
Engage brains! The belt loop on the passenger belt PREVENTS the buckle from rattling against the side door and wall when there is no passenger in the front seat. It's very innovative.
It merely takes some understanding of its function. Once you learn and accept its purpose, it ceases being ugly. Most of us drive around alone in cars. When the passenger belt is not in use it is nicely cushioned from rattling against the B door pillar. In short, get over it.
Actually, never saw the ugly ass loop in any other vehicle, so pretty sure it’s not necessary to have it to keep it from resettling against the side. Wonder if it has any other purpose besides annoying people..all the little things can add up and make someone not buy a car. I would actually pass on buying a car if I knew about half their annoyances. The tailgate lift is usually on left side of dash by steering wheel on every other new vehicle as well. So I agree with that too..basically I agree with everything except the CD player. In fact I wish vehicles had the 6cd loads like before, but now it’s just one. Not having it is fine now with teens, but as an adult I just like my cd’s sometimes when traveling long road trips.
I love, love my 2017 Santa Fe! the looks, the upgrades, the space for kids, sports equipment, groceries, luggage..the get up and go after 6 years is outstanding! I do agree with the assessment of the posts by the windshield as a shorty too I had blind spots UNTIL I put an orthopedic cushion in the seat which raised me up enough that I no longer have the blind spots. My car didn't come with the android selection I connect via iPhone. You get used to the tailgate button located with the interior lights and buttons to open/close the sunroof. Turn on notification of car or persons or objects coming into the path of your car and be patient for them to move away. The only problem I have with the passenger seatbelt is it's often difficult to fasten. All in all a very reliable car (my second Santa Fe 200K) not much upkeep tires, oil changes --- Love My SantaFe!!!
This was awesome. You're so knit-picky, I just bought a 2018 on the 1st. I'd watched your vid (as well as many others) before I embarked upon my shopping adventure with the dealers. Now that I have my car, I'm revisiting videos. Maybe Hyundai was listening, cuz mine has all the bells and whistles (that come w/ an SE-Ultimate Package). I test drove 2017 & 2018Highlanders, and 2019 Santa Fe XL SE and 2018 Santa Fe XL SE with Ultimate package. I have bench seats, identical interior leather seats to yours down to the color and I'm cool with everything. Educational and entertain to revisit your video. I kd you not, YESTERDAY I was looking for the "internal" lift gate button and NEVER found it! So now I know where it is. Your quirks aren't deal breakers, as you've mentioned so many times. And I. LOVE. MY. CD player! Also my last care was an 07 Santa Fe, I was in head on collision with a deer and another car. my 07 Limited was totaled. I walked way from a disabling crash on the highway with nothing but a broken foot. I did not know at the time Santa Fes had such a high crash test rating. I found out after the fact when my car didn't crush in on me or rip apart on the highway in the pitch black hours of the morning. Having a Santa Fe is an extra piece of mind when it comes to crash tests. My foot was broken because I was bearing down on the brake upon impact. My cabin STAYED intact. My airbag imploded but didn't even hit my face. God is Merciful & Good. I love my 2018 Santa Fe XL. thanks again for sharing your video
I don't like that they are phasing out CD players in vehicles! That is one of the things I require, I have a tonne of CDs and wouldn't want to get rid of them.
I agree 100% . I won't buy any new vehicle if it don't have a cd player. I miss the cassette player my toyota sienna had with the cd player. I bought used because the sante fe sport in 2017 still had a cd player. I wish I could delete all satellite radio features and keep only the features I use. I have my own GPS with no operating fees I also like the usb port for music I don't use blue tooth on my phone I like wired no health risks. I wouldn't blue tooth in my car. I won't use a cell phone in my car for safety reasons. I turned off the annoying messages like windshield wipers, lights and other things I already I know what I did. I wish I could get rid of the door open message because I want to see the mpg and odometer readings before I pump gas I know my door is open. Who ever came up with these nonsense messages should.go back to school. Enough said
I don't use CD's much but I'd rather it be available than not be available. It's not like people look at the CD player and think it looks dumb or wish that space was used for something else. It's a tiny slot and a couple of buttons. Not a big deal.
I hope you enjoy many more miles. I had a 2009 Hyundai Sonata for 9 years and IT was the best vehicle I've ever owned, and over the years, I've driven MOST brands. Believe it or not, the WORST vehicle I've ever owned was a Honda Accord. Had two Toyotas. One sucked and the other was totally fatiguing to drive, not to mention boring.
It is called an anti-rattle loop designed to keep the buckle from rattling against the b pillar when not in use. Drivers side is naturally always in use and not needed.
You are correct. We have a Lexus as our other car and if you have the passenger side belt loose, it will rattle!! It drives me NUTS. I usually wind up clicking the belt in so it is secure and doesn't rattle.
I have a 2013 Santa Fe Sport. I have almost 100,000 miles on it. It still runs like new and has very few mechanical problems besides recall fixes. I look forward to trading in for for a newer model. I find this video a bit picky. Everything he is uncomfortable with is probably great or at least functional for others. I like the flexibility and thought put into it. For instance, A lot of people like a CD player, including myself. I don't use it often, but like the fact that it's there when I need it. When I don't, I have a phone holder that is designed to fit perfectly in the CD slot. It puts my phone exactly where I like it. Hate blocking up my air vents or clunky suction cup holders. It's a great looking and riding car.
Jean Collette, Never missed an oil change. Engine runs like new, still great compression. I kinda hate trading it in. That don't offer the dark green finish anymore.
Never liked the 3 seat Santa Fe. Always looked clunky to me. Ashamed they got rid of the Sport. The nice style was retained in the smaller SUVs. They're too small for my needs. Looking for another manufacturer. 🙁
@@sanza555 ah, well I recommend Highlander if the 2019 Santa Fes and Palisades aren't your thing but you're still looking for something comparable to the Sport. The used Sports are in abundance though unless you're looking to go new. Every dealer I dealt with automatically assumed I was coming for a Sport even though I clearly said XL. They're really trying to push the Sports off the lots
I thought this was an awesome, thorough review. If you guys want a basic review on how the car drives, features, etc. there are tons of websites with reviews. This is an awesome video for the details which are important when paying that much for a new car.
Brian Potstra Android Auto sucks. Especially the Music app. Try to browse for the music you want. You can't. I use Apple Carplay and the built-in navigation at the same time.
I think the point is that Android has the major portion of the market and that if a manufacturer was going to pick one or other it is probably going to go with the one that will match most consumers of their product. 9to5mac.com/2016/08/18/android-ios-smartphone-market-share/
I won't use apple anything their phones are a fire hazard if you cannot remove a bad li-ion battery. My note 4 has removable battery and memory card. I don't have to have my phone taken anywhere to replace my battery. Apple is not an American company and their headquarters are in China that is a big red flag to dump apple. Some people must have the everything phone I dont. Let a phone be a phone and let a computer be a computer. All in one has its drawbacks you cannot use your phone if you.use it for a GPS or computer. Try to TX message and read email at the same time. Enough said.
I'm shopping for a 2018 at the moment, did a test drive and it seems ok. Does it do well on the highway, merging acceleration for example. And it did seem a bit rough driving, not as soft as my 2014 sedan. Just curious 😊
@@Gspec5 Yes it does well on the Highway with merging acceleration and yes unfortunately it does drive rough. I hear lots of road noise but I’m use to it and ok with it. I’m just happy that the vehicle is a reliable one. Had it for 2 years going on 3 in September and I never had any breakdowns at all!!!! I financed it around 21,000 miles . Now it’s at 71,345 . I work 35 minutes away & did lots of highway driving in the 1st year I got it.
@@Jacobytru Thanks, i really appreciate the response. I love how roomy it is and I've heard all good reviews from owners like yourself saying how reliable it is so I'm sold 😅. I have 2 small kids so there's lots of space for them to grow into it. Thanks again.
@@Gspec5 You are welcome and congratulations to your 2 children. Just by reading your response, you are a great parent and role model when it comes to your children. Take care!
I use CD's still, but I am 65 and may not be the norm - but I would be very unhappy if there was not a CD as I am a performing musician and use CD's for rehearsing and when I am driving listening to songs to speed up learning songs. Have to have a CD player slot!
I traded my 2013 CX-9 with 110k miles for 2017 Santa Fe sport 2.0t ultimate with tech package. The Mazda was bigger and more comfortable and had no issues. Besides room, the Hyundai is pretty awesome. It has a lot of features that my BMW 650i had including the steering headlights.
I have the 2016 Santa Fe Ultimate, none of the 10 things you mentioned I considered major or even minor. The thing I do find annoying, but you didn't mention has to do with the lift-gate. Every time you walk past it, it will open even if that is not your intention. First, it starts beeping, which is good, but all that does is increase your stress to get away from the sensors so that the lift-gate does not open. I find that if you give the rear of the car a 3 ft avoidance, you can eliminate the gate opening.
As a potential buyer of a 2017 Santa Fe, the title of the video lured me in. The bad news.... I had to endure 16 minutes of nit picking. The good news.... the reviewers 10 hated things were so insignificant and our previous Santa Fe was such a great car for 12 years and 155k miles, I heard nothing here that would persuade me to not consider a 2017 Santa Fe. Glad to learn the CD player wasn't deleted in 2017 and the irritating stop start feature wasn't introduced yet. Just wait until this guy buys a car with stop start. He'll have 11 things to hate.
I LOVE this review. Its soOOO "first world -problems" LOL. And he's right, these are not deal breakers. Especially not the CD player. I want a CD Player. I subscribed to this dude just for his real-ness.
It is 2023 and I just purchased a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Ultimate - I love it and do agree on a few of your dislikes. The one thing I have an issue with is that when I park at the stores, I hit the lock button to try to find my car - and it is just a very low sounding chime. No horn whatsoever. It also does the low sound chime when locking the car so I am never sure if it is locked. I can barely hear it even when up close to the vehicle. Is there any remedy for that??? Thanks so much. Very helpful video.
you lost me when you said there are more iphone than android phones. 82% of the units are Androids. Android Auto should be 1st if they can't have both.
My biggest complaint about my 2013 Santa Fe is always having to click the confirm button on the screen to get to the satellite radio screen. I understand that there should be some kind of confirmation about using the navigation, but just to use the audio system! I can't figure out how to get the audio system to just come on without having to touch the confirm button on the screen.
I am shopping around and your points were right on the dot. I thank you for the effort and you have definitely made an impact on my decision to consider buying this car or not. Thank you.
The lift gate button is there for ergonomics, as a driver we always tend to look at the rear view mirror before opening the back thus the button right beside the mirror
I'm sure you have a good point on the button for the lift gate, on the other hand, it is sensible to put that button in an out of the way place, where your hand will not likely accidentally press it.
I don't have any issues with 1-10. The 1 thing I hate about Santa Fe is the shock absorber. It's damn soft. They need to work on it hopefully in the newer versions.
Wi-Fi actually is used for streaming Audio applications vs using your cellphone data stream. Is it really useful, no not really since you are driving a car and not a parked laptop or tablet etc. Most other issues are nit picks. Wi-Fi is also used for map locations when using Carplay. In setup you enable Android or Carplay or both. I have both turned on in Santa Fe.
Regarding the hazard button, here in SF Bay Area majority of the people DO NOT USE the hazard when they full over. They just stop in the middle of the road. Just a thought!
i think the tail gate button is in smart position, when u press the button your eye probably looking at the rear view mirror to avoid shut on somebody head
we are getting 23-25.7mpg using eco going back and forth 40min each way. to work.. when i drive it i have a heavy foot so it goes down some. and ours does have Apple Carplay 2017 Santa Fe Ultimate. and you can also set your wifi from your phone to use with google search in the info-tainment I have not tried it yet becuase I have a mobile router. i do dislike the Lack of always on Charging or that you have to turn the 115vac plug (that i use for my mobile) each time. it would be nice to turn car on and keep last setting of the 115vac if i leave it on. good review!
Good review overall, I disagree with you saying that more people have iPhones. I've worked in the cell phone industry and Samsung gives Apple a run for their money with the Galaxy line. I was surprised that you missed the 3 things I didn't like about my Santa Fe, or maybe it has been updated. When I close the sunroof, I don't like that the shade automatically closes. Sometimes I just want to close the window not the shade and have to open it back up again. The other thing is that I have to unlock the doors from the lock/unlock on the door if I get out of the car with my key fob, I cannot use the key fob to unlock a door. That to me is super annoying. And lastly, I hate that when you remote start the car, the hazards flash. I don't mind having the running lights come on but I don't want them to flash.
There is a apple carplay as well check in the settings. my car Gear Shift rod got smooth gradually after putting miles on it I agree 9th point. The blindspot on the right side I have been almost hit by 2 times from back with that blindspot thing. Mileage i get 19 city and 24 to 25 on the highway But engine wise I feel a bit lag in rapid pickup when I accelerate immediately considering 290bhp. But When I switch to manual it's super fast and responsive Rest of the points may differ person to person. But technology, features and drive wise I am completely satisfied
Very helpful video. Thinking about trading in my BMX for one of these and this video is tipping me in favor of the Santa Fe. Thanks for the thorough review!
the passenger side seat belt is folded and stiched so if the vehicle is in a wreak the stitching will tear so if someone has wreaked it and repaired it and sells it the buyer can tell it has been wreaked at some point and may have some kind of permanent damage
loved ur video. question, my friend has a 2014 santa fe and all her warning ligjts come on and eventually the car will shutoff. she changed the alt, and wires and checked fuses. what could be the problem?
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY DESPISE the fact that the rear lift gate seems to open by itself at the most inopportune moments. It has happened twice at home and just now at a store. Since I leave the car from the front it is not the proximity function and in all three cases I didn't realize this had happened until AFTER I get back to the car. It is a SERIOUS SECURITY ISSUE! In any of these three incidents I NEVER heard the liftgate opening.
The major problems I have is the GPS randomly freezes up, lift gate is slow to open and a lag to the car's performance when the gas pedal is fully depressed.
1) Not being able to operate the rear AC from the drivers seat is annoying. 2) key fob should have remote start. 3) Bluelink fee is un reasonable. 4) steering wheel is old school looking. Other than that my 2017 has been a fantastic vehicle.
I would agree with you on the 10 that you spoke of except the part on what you said about most people are using I-Phones, this i would disagree with you on as most of the people i know (couple thousand) mostly use Android phones. This is not to say that there are not a lot of apple users because there are. Good video though, keep up the good work! :)
I am happy you brought up 10 points that you consider important. That way Hyundai / Kia receive feedback from the very people they try to please. If I happen to agree or not, the importance is that your observations are out there for others to comment upon. Both Android and iPhone should be supported throughout the economic markets as a matter of customer support. The wifi setting could be used for diagnostic / recall information but currently this is not the case, at least for the consumer. The loop on the passenger seatbelt must have an undocumented added feature because as a latch stop alone makes nonsense. The shape of the steeringwheel and grips does indeed remind me of my 1992 Cadillac, so thanks for pointing that out.
I agree on two things, 1. The belt loop definitively looks ugly. 2. The manual shifter should have been placed on the left side instead of the right side. I found myself pulling the shifter into automatic mode as I tend to pull the knob towards me when I try to shift speeds. It does not seem natural to be pushing away from you to shift. It might also be possible for the passenger to inadvertedly take the shifter from manual to auto by bumping into it.
Thanks for your post/review. I agree on a few items, but they are minor and as u said, not a deal breaker for this vehicle, especially when comparing with other (more costly) SUVs...
I agree on the CD option. They should have removed that years ago. Circa ipods....lol My other suggestion when doing a video....clean the car. The video was appealing with you talking but you lost me when I saw the mess. I live near you....you want me to come clean it? Totally kidding. Great video and definitely giving me more reasons to buy the car.
I do agree with you about the loop but not on the others. I rent Santa Fe on my work road trips frequently. I own a 2012 CX9 and I would say that the Santa Fe is more comfortable for my body, better ride (CX-9 is very stiff). Please appreciate what you purchased because I am actually looking at the Limited version for my next purchase! I said it, that is how much I appreciate this vehicle. Cheers on an honest video, non of your beefs are deal breakers, I do agree with a second point you made. Drive Safe! Cheers.
The only thing I agree with is the seatbelt. The rest is just personal preference that I disagree with. Even though I might not use the CD player much I know other people will and it's great they left it in. Like my roomate who is super jealous that my car has one and his doesn't (same year, different cars). He is old school and still owns a flip phone and would prefer a CD player. We are planning a road trip with my car and he is excited to bring his music collection with us lol. It gives more versatility and variety and will fit everyones needs. Same with the consul, you can use the touchscreen for anything but you also have the option to use the buttons. I use both, button as the shortcut and then adjust on screen. The visability isnt the best as you mentioned but makes up for it with the 360 cam which you can turn on while driving too. Not only when you back up. It's awesome and love this car ^_^
I love my 2017 Santa Fe Sport. I would change a few things though. On the dashboard, I don’t see why we have to have separate radio and xm buttons. Pushing either one takes you to the same screen, and then you just have to push either the fm, am or xm tabs. The climate button is useless. When you push it, it just shows information. That’s it. For the “mode” button, I would have incorporated that into the touch screen.
maybe later they will update software for whatever. I wanna know with the cameras if they record your driving front and back? If they dont then why not and can you alter it somehow to make it record so you dont need your own cameras, mine always falls off the windshield and startles me lol
Hi, i think the loop in the seat belt is for pets safety as a place where to attach the dogs harness ... because when the seat belt is buckle up the loop is probably at the center of the seat....
Actually, if you have the Bluelink service it'll just use that. The Wifi is pretty close to useless, and it's really a shame. If they wanted to make some happy customers, they'd use the wifi as a hotspot option which should be completely doable since the cars have Verizon 4G service.
What I really don't like is the packaging that Hyundai has for the Bluelink service. Mine just expired and I wanted only to keep the GPS feature of Bluelink. However, that is not an option! You must sign up for BOTH Connected Care AND GPS to get the GPS service. Guess I'll start using Android Auto instead... really disappointed :-(
Santa fe has a major engine problem that Hyudai cant solve. If you buy one be prepared to see it broke down alot snd you're going to need a new engine sooner rather than later.
Nothing confusing about the buttons on the dash. They're all clearly labelled or marked. They're within reach as well. It is not as if you need to look at them every other minute whilst driving in order to proceed. You'll only use them to make an adjustment etc. which is how often? It's your car and once you've familiarized yourself with it, button operations should be a breeze. I do agree about the tailgate button. It's weird.
I thought same thing about the seat belt, found it it's to keep the buckle from rattling against the pillar there when not in use. That's why there is a loop vs the hard plastic peace.
Just watched your video and haven't read the comments below but apple car play is available on a software download. I bought this car Aug 2016 & had it the same month. Should be on all the new ones now though.
I purchased this vehicle as a used car in 2020. I got it with only 30K mi. and at a good price. I generally love the car, but I HATE the seatbelts. I am 5'2" tall. The seatbelt chokes me. I have to use one of those little straps that pull the lap and shoulder belt closer so it actually hits my shoulder and not my neck. This problem is not specific to this car, they all do that to us shorties. BUT--In addition, the latches are a PIA to latch. They have to snap into the buckle with the slightly curved side down. I can't tell you how many times I've had to struggle with the the latch to get it to click into the buckle...if you are in a hurry to get going, it's extremely frustrating. Additionally, when I go to unlatch the belt, The center console is so close to the seat that it's hard to get my finger on the release button. I have small hands and there is very little space between the seat and the console. That may be the problem with the latch in a nutshell. There's only so much space to maneuver the latch into the exact position that it needs to be in to meet the slot with ease. As I said, I love the car but the seat belt makes me crazy almost every time I get in the car. One other thing your wife mentioned about the blind spot when you are checking to the right for traffic: yes, that blind spot is a pain, but the position of the passenger seat is an issue when you have a passenger. Depending on how far back the passenger has the seat, there is a blind spot where the head rest is when it's moved back for someone with long legs. When it is behind the rear door post--another blind spot is created. Just my observations....I agree that most of the others that you list in your 10 are minor aggravations.
We have a 2018 Santa Fe sitting in our garage right now that we are test driving overnight. It’s a big decision for me and I’m looking at every detail of the vehicle before making a decision. BTW, I’m a petite 5’1” female and I have noticed that the outside mirror on the driver’s side of the car creates a blind spot for me. It just seems like the placement is a little high maybe? I don’t know, maybe it’s that the mirror was a little lower on my Nissan Murano that I’m planning on trading in and have been driving since 2011.
Surprised you didn't mention the fact that the audio stops from the Media system even when the call is transferred to the handset. Very annoying when on a family road trip and one of the parents get a call. Plus the act that Android auto must be used with a USB cable and phone actually LOOSES charge.
For the USA, Hyundai should engineer the side mirrors be electronically turned in when the car is parked. Hyundai should phase out any mirrors that need to be manually positioned. Car buyers would think the new 2019 Santa Fe would have electronically operated side mirrors by now.
I just bought the same car, 2017 ultimate xl. but having heated seat problem. doesnt heat up well. At the dealership, they tested other XL models, they all didnt heat up properly. (was maxed at 20celcius instead of 40+) Does yours heat up well? (all 4 seats)
My dealer couldnt help either. We contacted Hyundai Canada. They tested some of the cars on the lot, and they all didnt heat up enough. it passes the test, voltage and resistance wise, but just not getting to the temperature high enough. Are yours comparable to other heated seats of other cars that you tested?
You can download Apple car Play on the Hyandai site. It takes a while to do the install. The biggest detractor that I have with this car is no folding mirrors. When I look at my KIA Sorento I know that the car is locked because the mirrors are folded.
Agree with you on the interior lift gate button. Seems like it could cause a safety issue, as it is close to the interior light button. So what happens if you are driving in the dark and accidentally hit the lift gate button while trying to hit the interior light button?
2 things.. 1. Lift gate has to be held down for a couple of seconds before it can be opened. Buy then, you can tell you've hit the wrong button. 2. The lift gate is inoperable while driving . You can press it all you want while driving, it won't open.
thank you for this review, I will check this SUV out and I do like their warranties we have a 2002 Kia and its been great, did you check out the Buick Enclave's? That is what I am currently in love with. I will be ready to buy in 3 weeks so im doing all the homework now and let me tell you its a job there are lots of SUV's to cpmpare..
The back door lift button is located at the correct place. It is accessible for the driver as well as the front passenger and helps both look the door open simultaneously through the mirror,
good point.
I love the fact that it has a cd player!
I don't like that they are phasing out CD players in vehicles! That is one of the things I require, I have a tonne of CDs and wouldn't want to get rid of them.
Yes I got 2019 I didnt know it had no CD player
I won’t also buy a car without a CD player . If I wanna listen to a specific song I can play it right away. 👍🏻
I am old school; I have a lot of CDs! I love my CD player.
He'll learn all the steps to set up Wi-Fi but complains about buttons that do one function? CMON BRO!!😂🤣🤣
I've driven this car 18,000 in the 12 months that I've owned it. Best car I've ever owned.
I have just sold my 19 yr old Santa and bought a 2018 / 2.4 DM model . Beautiful car
Great video. We just bought a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate. He answered a lot of questions. But ours has Apple Play.
my 2018 XL SE w/ Ultimate package has Apple AND Android
They dont make cars to please each and every one....
ronnie alberts yup. Overall, the car is amazing.
It's a great looking and riding car.
sanza555 any problem with your engine burning oil?
Jean Collette, Never missed an oil change. Engine runs like new, still great compression. I kinda hate trading it in. That don't offer the dark green finish anymore.
@@sanza555 what are you gonna get? Or you gonna go for the Pallisade?
Android has 81% market share (Q4 2016) and Android Auto is better than CarPlay. Who the heck actually uses Apple Maps??
Brian Potstra Android Auto sucks. Especially the Music app. Try to browse for the music you want. You can't. I use Apple Carplay and the built-in navigation at the same time.
not to mention that this car model probably has Apple Car also, at least as optional
Those who want to die
Just purchased a 2017 Santa Fe. My 3rd Santa Fe! My Santa Fe came with Apple Play. May have been updated.
I am financing my 2018 Santa Fe. I love it! Had it for 2 going on 3 years and I never had not 1 problem. When I pay it off, I am keeping it.
@@Gspec5 I am single with no children so it provides lots of space and sits high up in my opinion.
Take care!
I drive the 2015 Limited Ultimate, black on black. I absolutely luv this car.
I use CD's still, but I am 65 and may not be the norm - but I would be very unhappy if there was not a CD as I am a performing musician and use CD's for rehearsing and when I am driving listening to songs to speed up learning songs. Have to have a CD player slot!
Brian Gardner just buy a portable CD player and plug it into the headphone jack in the dashboard.
No CD player in 2019
I need you to review MORE cars. I love your reviews^^
I have a 2017 Santa Fe Sport and I enjoy it. You are picky, picky, picky!
Richard Koss you are a good man. I love this car!
Cars & Technology What do you think of this car vs the Mazda CX-9?
I traded my 2013 CX-9 with 110k miles for 2017 Santa Fe sport 2.0t ultimate with tech package. The Mazda was bigger and more comfortable and had no issues. Besides room, the Hyundai is pretty awesome. It has a lot of features that my BMW 650i had including the steering headlights.
Richard Koss don't you think that passenger seat belt loop is ugggggggly?
I have the 2016 Santa Fe Ultimate, none of the 10 things you mentioned I considered major or even minor. The thing I do find annoying, but you didn't mention has to do with the lift-gate. Every time you walk past it, it will open even if that is not your intention. First, it starts beeping, which is good, but all that does is increase your stress to get away from the sensors so that the lift-gate does not open. I find that if you give the rear of the car a 3 ft avoidance, you can eliminate the gate opening.
You can disable that feature in the menu settings on the instrument cluster options.
CD player must stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am old school; I have a lot of CDs! I love my CD player.
Love this video! Just bought a Santa Fe and still getting used to driving it. I can agree with most of what you said! (:
I love your videos! Thank you liked and subscribed
Thanks for your input. This is the car I am set on buying so this video helped a lot.
You should be happy with the buttons because my Honda Odyssey is all radio dial controlled and not even touch screen.
What's your opinion on the price.?.
you lost me when you said there are more iphone than android phones. 82% of the units are Androids. Android Auto should be 1st if they can't have both.
JP R exactly...he is FOS....most people don't have apple...
@@johnwampold3749 agreed
Thank you. If they are the main things you have found wrong then I'm going to buy one!
Almost bought one of these today. Didn't notice that horrendous seat-belt loop thingy. I just can't. Thanks for saving me from utter humiliation.
I am shopping around and your points were right on the dot. I thank you for the effort and you have definitely made an impact on my decision to consider buying this car or not. Thank you.
Lic. Ayax Agassini doesn't look like it made am impact on his decision looks like he will buy it all over again if he had to
Hi guys, one correction in my vid. Apple CarPlay (wired) is available on the Santa Fe. The wireless version is not :(
It looks like you were looking really hard to find something you don’t like. I love my Santa Fe .... best car i have ever owned.
Yes! He was scrutinizin' big time.
Nice video buddy and I go agree with a few of your opinions!
Do*
The lift gate button is there for ergonomics, as a driver we always tend to look at the rear view mirror before opening the back thus the button right beside the mirror
I'm sure you have a good point on the button for the lift gate, on the other hand, it is sensible to put that button in an out of the way place, where your hand will not likely accidentally press it.
Just bought a 2018 s f sport. Thanks for your input
Deserves metal for "Nit Picker" of the year.
"metal"
I don't have any issues with 1-10. The 1 thing I hate about Santa Fe is the shock absorber. It's damn soft. They need to work on it hopefully in the newer versions.
reasomb16 exactly!!!
I agree with everything! Just brought mines. It’s the small things that bothers me! Can we have an update on how your 2017 is now?
There is a apple carplay as well check in the settings.
my car Gear Shift rod got smooth gradually after putting miles on it
I agree 9th point. The blindspot on the right side I have been almost hit by 2 times from back with that blindspot thing.
Mileage i get 19 city and 24 to 25 on the highway
But engine wise I feel a bit lag in rapid pickup when I accelerate immediately considering 290bhp.
But When I switch to manual it's super fast and responsive
Rest of the points may differ person to person. But technology, features and drive wise I am completely satisfied
vankadaru prashanth glad you are ok!
Set "Drive Mode" to Sport. MUCH more responsive!
Very helpful video. Thinking about trading in my BMX for one of these and this video is tipping me in favor of the Santa Fe. Thanks for the thorough review!
the passenger side seat belt is folded and stiched so if the vehicle is in a wreak the stitching will tear so if someone has wreaked it and repaired it and sells it the buyer can tell it has been wreaked at some point and may have some kind of permanent damage
lol come on thats not why
loved ur video. question, my friend has a 2014 santa fe and all her warning ligjts come on and eventually the car will shutoff. she changed the alt, and wires and checked fuses. what could be the problem?
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY DESPISE the fact that the rear lift gate seems to open by itself at the most inopportune moments. It has happened twice at home and just now at a store. Since I leave the car from the front it is not the proximity function and in all three cases I didn't realize this had happened until AFTER I get back to the car. It is a SERIOUS SECURITY ISSUE! In any of these three incidents I NEVER heard the liftgate opening.
dakkarman you can turn the automatic lift feature off in the settings on the car.
Really appreciate your video!
i think that passenger seat belt looks pretty cool with that tie.
The major problems I have is the GPS randomly freezes up, lift gate is slow to open and a lag to the car's performance when the gas pedal is fully depressed.
The seatbelt loop keeps the unused belt from rattling.
Anyone having issues with acceleration lag/hesitation when turning left/right?
Did Hyundai not add an update so it's Apple Carplay compatible now?
So, to anyone that has this vehicle, can tell us how it is holding up? Like are you experiencing any problems with it...like serious ones especially?
The GDI engine noise in my 2018 Santa Fe Sport annoys me the most!
It has a 3.3 liter v6 and not a 3.6 liter v6 engine like you mentioned in your previous video...
hkm4life thank you for the update
I agree on two things,
Lord Binturong yeah. That's my too most dislike. The loop is the worst!
There should be a lock button on the shifter to 'lock' it into the manual shifting possition...
I never tried manual shift on my Sante fe SPORT . I will read up on it before trying it.
I'm putting this car on my list to check out. I agree about the CD player. I haven't used a cd in almost 20 years.
I don't understand your mileage/kilometre rating. Can you clarify?
I am old school; I have a lot of CDs! I love my CD player.
If they dont then why not and can you alter it somehow to make it record so you dont need your own cameras, mine always falls off the windshield and startles me lol
i am looking at 2018-19 , you were very helpful
Hi, i think the loop in the seat belt is for pets safety as a place where to attach the dogs harness ... because when the seat belt is buckle up the loop is probably at the center of the seat....
You can use SoundCloud app in the car when connected to WiFi
Jeb Samuel thanks buddy
Really? No one one else is saying anything in the comments about That problem or any others.
Engine or no good listen to him.knock knock.
Picky, picky...ha, ha....but enjoyed it! What a character, just what we need! Thumbs up!
That's why there is a loop vs the hard plastic peace.
my 2017 santa fe has a apple car play option. there are apps that work on WiFi. your review is on the top model version.
Oz Gültekin I don't have a problem with mine. All 4 works fine.
Oz Gültekin you know, my apple CarPlay isn't work. Is yours working?
I have an Android and it works. I will try Apple when I can.
You can download Apple car Play on the Hyandai site. It takes a while to do the install.
The biggest detractor that I have with this car is no folding mirrors. When I look at my KIA Sorento I know that the car is locked because the mirrors are folded.
Greg Cook they have it on the Santa Fe in Australia with self parking option too, and third row seats for the sport,, wtf
Basically all minor gripes. Still a sick car for the price. love mine
Dennis P love mine too sir. It's amazing.
Do you still have the car? If you do..is it still awesome? Thinking of buying one to last a long time..don't want to regret buying one :)
