  • In today's video we have a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado with a 3.7 liter engine. The vehicle is a no crank / no start and no communication. The previous mechanic tried replacing the fuel pump, starter motor and ignition switch, but still could not fix the problem. Follow along as I take you step by step through my diagnostic procedure and fix this truck.

Great Video. So sorry to see that you lost your shop space but am glad you are still wrenching. I am a mobile mechanic here in central Virginia and the heat and humidity is nasty. I spent two months in a shop and one day a similar problem in Mercedes. There was dog food in the housing of ECM. I was told not to pull out the computer to clean out the dog food but just vacuum it out. I KNOW there was a wiring issue under the ECM but wasn't allowed to trace it due to "it would cause more problems". I left shortly there after.

Nice fix except next time, "listen" to your nose and put gloves on, rodent droppings can be extremely hazardous to your health. You can disinfect your hands with brake cleaner or carb cleaner on hand if nothing else available. Don't forget to wipe any tools that may have gotten touched/contaminated. Can't be too careful especially when you've got kids and/or wife back home.😷🐁🚑

Expert point A to B troubleshooting, keep up the good work. I viewed your going out of business video and things will work out for you because you have a lot talent that comes from attention to detail and research and will take you to the top. I know what it's like to hit the schematics and research right to the cause. Thanks for your videos and your talent will take you to the top.

It's not the problem I have on my Colorado (no start, except that's intermittent) but I think I have an electrical problem - somewhere. It's too dang cold where I live right now and I no longer work as a mechanic so I'll wait till it's a bit warmer. Wish I had the diagnostic machine like you have there. Shop quoted me $1100 for a fuel pump replacement and maybe it needs one but I'd rather do it myself for that kind of money. And I no longer "get into" working on my own stuff.
Need to do a video on why the windows don't roll up or down, except right after the truck starts :)

Not only is the CEL Telltale out, but the PRND321 is also blank.
On an older vehicle- the Neutral Safety Switch could be tested,
by holding key in RUN and jiggling shifter from P to R. If it cranked
the NSS was loose, "out of adjustment" or faulty.

Hitting you up from the Bahamas. I had the same problem with my 2008 Colorado. Unfortunately I had already bought the electrical part for the key switch (couldn't return it). Rodents bit up four of the wires leading to the computer. Good stuff my brother, good stuff!!
