I once had a 95' Suburban 4x4 when I lived in Fairbanks, AK. That thing was amazing up there in the deep snow. It was so heavy it would plow through the snow instead of floating/getting stuck. It kept going.
Damn. 25 mpg? That’s incredible. My folks had a 2001,2005,2009(I believe), and now have a 2019. The best fuel mileage they ever got taking it to our place in Canada was 17mpg. Mom likes the suburban for hauling German shepherds around. They always had one. 25 mpg out of a 3.5 ton gas powered SUV? 🤔
Yea. We made a 6 hr trip to charleston with 3 adults, 2 kids and the entire cargo area filled with gear for a 2 week trip. With the auto cruise control where it adjusts speed automatically, we averaged 24.5 mpg. With it unloaded we got around 25-26 mpg highway. In town was around 18-19. We didnt do any mods either. I was impressed for such a heavy vehicle. Im sure the 6.2L doesnt get anywhere near that but the 5.3L was more than enough power.
Chase Feller i live in the northeast, we don’t have a lot of flat land for miles. I could see that fuel mileage in SC, we have a small vacation home in SC and we drive down every year. Last year, I drove our 2015 6.7 superduty down, and from Harrisonburg, VA to Myrtle beach, we averaged 20.2mpg. Granted, I babied the thing and didn’t go over 70 at any point. Brand loyalty aside, the 5.3, 6.2 & 8.1L engines are some of, if not the best and most reliable engines ever made. Yea they burn a little oil, but I never had any engine related problems, nor has my family, with Chevy gas engines. I had a 2000 s-10 with the 2.2l in it. 5speed. Put 430,000miles on that little truck.
Just last week, I saw some pretty famous business executives and their security detail riding around in Suburbans very similar to this one. As for my Suburban, a moon roof would never have been a big attraction on family vacations. The TV's definitely helped with preventing drama on weeks long trips across the country. You can call it a poor man's RV; but, I like the flexibility of being able to tow a rented 5000 pound 30 foot trailer, into Yellowstone; OR, comfortably driving to the next city, to the next hotel. I loved parking & disconnecting the rented trailer at Yellowstone Lake and then comfortably touring the park in a vehicle much smaller than an RV. The Suburban was the best way to do that.
02 Yukon XL 600,000km on her now blows my mind its still running, gotta love the 5.3L damn thing dont quit n the Autotrac is much loved i the Alberta winters. Going for a new one here soon but I doubt we will EVER have another as reliable.

Easy exit only works when you are sitting in one of the two memory seat settings. This is also configurable in the driver display. I have an Avalanche and that is how it works. Also, unlocking the vehicle with the key fob will bring the seat back to its memory setting depending on if you have driver key number one or two.
Our family has had two different generations of Suburban. When you need to haul multiple sized adults/families in comfort with power and reliability, there is not much else out there. There's a reason these sell so well.
You can also get the 6.2L without the blacked out look included in the (WP9) Premier Plus package. The tailgate on Premier Suburbans is a “hands-free” liftgate. Give it a kick, Junior! (but make sure you have the key close by, too).
If I was Chevy and you took that through salt water, I’d be hella pissed. My mom had a burban for like 16 years. Big Blue. Loved that car. 200k+ miles. Suburbans really are great
these vehicles get tested in way worse conditions, lol a quick 5 minute drive down a salted/slush/snow covered road in the midwest is 10x worse than a few splashes of salt water from the ocean. a simple wash will take all that ocean water off.

Hey Roman! I've been watching TFL Car and TFL Truck for years and I live right here in Daytona Beach! I would love to get a picture with you and Tommy if possible.
Did you cover window locks? I like the child lock feature but get highly annoyed when the window lock button either locks all back seats & passenger or none. I would like to independently lock back windows.
Why do the cheap out on USB ports and aux power ports? That can not cost diddly to put in. Why not at least two in that little screen cubby hold? Seems like a great place to put a powerbank and flashlight.
Wish you tested on the street so we can hear that 6.2 run through that 10 speed, which is available on Caddy & GMC. The seat exit feature is controlled in the 'Settings' menu, and appears to be off. The roof option is still $500 less than the larger competitors, look in the redesign for larger opening, and those Brembos can be had in the GM aftermarket at substantial savings. LOVE my '17, 6.2 8spd. It's a GMC.
I have a 2015 suburban. Plus the color of mine is a purple color called Sable Metallic. They don’t even make that color anymore apparently so it makes mine even rarer. ☺️
I wonder if the rear flipper glass will develop leaks around that wiper area over time? I know the rear flipper glass on my Jeep has a leak up in the seal between the 2 hinges somewhere...I hate trying to track down water leaks LOL. Is that rear flipper glass standard on the Suburbans? Anyone have any issues with leaks on older models?
Roman, you say the third row is " a little tight"! Instead of sitting in it for 20 seconds, try sitting in it for a 3 hour road trip! It is terrible! For such a large vehicle, GM has done a horrable job at providing space or comfort in the third row. Not only is the seat hard, foot space is non existent and the C pillar is so wide that someone sitting in this seat has to turn their head a full 90 degrees just to look out of the window. It seems GM has make the 3rd row a complete afterthought. Suburbans may be good for the first two rows but if you truly use the 3rd row, then look to a different brand of large 3 row SUV.
David Hillbrand as someone who takes business trips with a large group of people quarterly, we rent a lot of suburbans and expedition xls and I can say without a doubt the suburban is much better all around by a large margin. The rear seat in the expedition is the worst vehicle seat I’ve ever had the misfortune of sitting in
I know many people want the sun roofs and that's great; If that is what you want. Now it is how big can we make the sun roof? And you know if you like like that is great but, there are people like me that could careless about a sunroof or moon roof and yet if I don't get the sunroof or the Panoramic view I cant get other gadgets that i would like. I love the King Ranch but have no need in the sun roof. I also know several locals that have had leaks and from what a Ford Mechanic "who will remain nameless" said this is a constant problem not only with Ford but, all vehicles. Why cant i get all the extras with out having to have a window at my head which also causes me to lose headroom. I am 6'3" and I wear cowboy hats as well as hard hats and I need the extra space but, I also like all the extras except the window. I guess this is just a pet-peeve of mine. They can offer all the extras without a roof window that will just cost me more in insurance. Didn't mean to be a complainer but, there it is. Oh and I love yalls real world reviews. The facts along with your opinions helps many of us decide what we will buy next. keep up the good work.
Lol my stinger has that feature to move the steering wheel and seats back for easy entry and exit but it does it automatically when i cut the car off no buttons to push
The Suburban does it automatically as well when you turn off the vehicle and open the driver's door, but you can customize the exit position using the buttons on the door.
Well I stopped the tape at the plastic wood -- ugh!! As to the beach driving rules, there were none before because they didn't know any better. Just like when they used to dump run-off into the Mississippi. Today, the water is black.
The gun cubby reminds me of the Ford GT, though Ford put that one under the very front edge of the driver's seat. Just about the right size for something like a G43 or Shield.
You can haul 6 kids and 3 dogs no problem. The big burbans are great for the drive in movies too!!. Now make that the 2500 and a 6.2l diesel so you can tow some more and I would be happier.
This car is made for organized crime lords. Auto Child lock (hostage control), hidden compartment in trunk for rifles/ammo and a pistol compartment behind the screen. That engine also makes a compelling get-a-way truck. I love it!
Agreed the midnight blacked out looked has gotten worn out especially when people were doing it long before the manufacturers jumped on the bandwagon and started offering it like it was a new trend. Nice to be able to get that look from the factory but it has gotten boring now that everyone is doing it. Too much chrome can ruin the look too but just enough can make it pop.
I don't know I was raised on them. My dad has a early 2000's or maybe it's a 97 Suburban I can't remember, and then my mom got a 2001 or 2000 Yukon XL and now she has a 2008 Suburban and my dad still has the old suburban (They're divorced). I Love This Truck But Would Prefer A RST Tahoe I Have A Black Infiniti With Black & Machined Wheels & I Love The "Murdered Out" Black Look On A Black Vehicle Im Thinking About Getting Rid Of All The Chrome Trim & Blacking Everything Out Until Everything Is Gloss Black
I'm well under 50 and I don't like the painted bumpers and grills, give me chrome any day. Painted looks cheap to me. Too much chrome isn't a good thing either though.. especially when it's plastic that's chromed.
The rear wiper is designed like that for snowy climates. It prevents the wiper from freezing to the window.
Smart
It also allows you to change the wiper blade easily. Many rear wipers are a pain to change out.
I had no idea, actually, but that certainly makes sense.

Guys you are so lucky I miss the summer
Amen brother.
i live in california, and let me tell you its HOT over here, id rather have snow than burning hot summers
Hey Roman! I've been watching TFL Car and TFL Truck for years and I live right here in Daytona Beach! I would love to get a picture with you and Tommy if possible.
We’d love to do a meetup but we’re heading back to Colorado already. Next year!
Hey you forgot Longs Island NY we can drive on the beach here . Great videos keep up the good work.
Did you cover window locks? I like the child lock feature but get highly annoyed when the window lock button either locks all back seats & passenger or none. I would like to independently lock back windows.
The way roman said he "could easily use this as a camping vehicle" made it sound like it wasnt easy 😂😂
My 2015 Yukon XL gets 22 mpg on the highway.. Took a lot of money and work to get it there :)
It's a GMC.
We have an old Cheney suburban. I still love it
Can’t wait to drive mine SilverIceMetallic, husband bought me this early today #MothersDayGift #HomeComingGift 💕
I have a 2015 suburban. Plus the color of mine is a purple color called Sable Metallic. They don’t even make that color anymore apparently so it makes mine even rarer. ☺️
Now I’ll admit mine doesn’t have that wireless phone charger (of course being an older year compared to this newer one)
My 2014 Toyota Venza has the feature. When you turn the car off and take off your seatbelt off the seat goes all the way back for easy out
They got rid of the LTZ package?
Premier took its place in some vehicles.
You guys were in Daytona?! Damn, I would've loved to meet you, too bad I didn't know.
North Topsail Beach in North Carolina near Camp Lejeune you can still drive on the beach unrestricted
I love these car it's the best ❤
How does it compete against Ford expedition max stealth edition ? It will be interesting to do match up 👍
My hometown! Great review!
I knew it was you guys that I saw, went to the beach in my wrangler that same
day
I wonder if the rear flipper glass will develop leaks around that wiper area over time? I know the rear flipper glass on my Jeep has a leak up in the seal between the 2 hinges somewhere...I hate trying to track down water leaks LOL.
Is that rear flipper glass standard on the Suburbans? Anyone have any issues with leaks on older models?
In your opinion, thaoe, surban or Ford Explorer what you will buy?.....and I like they HUD , hi from Venezuela
Precisely why I chose an Expedition EL.
Meh i sat in the back of one for 22hrs.. its not bad (i am 6'2).
David Hillbrand as someone who takes business trips with a large group of people quarterly, we rent a lot of suburbans and expedition xls and I can say without a doubt the suburban is much better all around by a large margin. The rear seat in the expedition is the worst vehicle seat I’ve ever had the misfortune of sitting in
You say look to a different brand, what other brand are you thinking of? And remember, this was designed 5 years ago
David Hillbrand you also need cargo room... duhh thats why is a suburban
Are the brakes made by Brembo, as in made by them, or just labeled by Brembo - like the 10 speed labeled by Allison in the 2500's?
Wonder what the 0-60 time this has
I live in Daytona. Wish I got the chance to see you guys!
Suburban is still the best large SUV and it's been the best for 80+ years.
Rather have an old diesel Excursion.
Turd Ferguson yeah the 90s and early 2000 were bulletproof. nowdays they are overpriced pieces of junk!
I wouldn't trade my 02 Excursion for this.
Is it true that the 2nd row seats won’t slide for and aft, that they don’t move? If yes, that’s hacky.
Does the RST Suburban not have the exhaust like the RST Tahoe? I assume that’s a dealer installed option like the Brembo’s.
Awesome video and awesome truck
My 2008 Jeep Commander Limited has key fob operated rear glass opener. Nothing new here.
You can haul 6 kids and 3 dogs no problem. The big burbans are great for the drive in movies too!!. Now make that the 2500 and a 6.2l diesel so you can tow some more and I would be happier.
Tommy-
He gets first billing as the voice for Poindexter whenever a remake of Felix The Cat is due for production.
This car is made for organized crime lords. Auto Child lock (hostage control), hidden compartment in trunk for rifles/ammo and a pistol compartment behind the screen. That engine also makes a compelling get-a-way truck. I love it!
That beach is beautiful. I will snuggle in a blanket in the middle of winter watching this video.
For such a big vehicle my note 9 is to big to use the wireless charger. For the price this shouldn't be a issue. Great review.
This came out in 2013/ 2014... I think It's aged rather well actually...
this generation came out in 2015 not 13 or 14
Agreed the midnight blacked out looked has gotten worn out especially when people were doing it long before the manufacturers jumped on the bandwagon and started offering it like it was a new trend. Nice to be able to get that look from the factory but it has gotten boring now that everyone is doing it. Too much chrome can ruin the look too but just enough can make it pop.
I wonder if the 2020 will have the 6.6L option.
What’s the difference from 2015 and 2020 same truck inside Same futures.
isn't cylinder deactivation the one thing that actually would help when you're only going 10 mph on the beach??
GM holds 67% of the full size suv market and we make over 300000 units a year out of one factory. Cadillac Chevy GMC all on the same line.
Great review.
Not sure If I can afford that twenty hundred brake performance edition package at 3:43 😂
@James from AL I figured I was just being a smarta**
I would have liked to have seen a road review on an open highway testing the performance of that beast.
These things are way to over priced.
Too*
Rich Farfugnuven Thank you grammar police.
Shawn Kidwell your welcome,if it's too expensive ,don't buy it
Your welcome. See what I did there, its you're........and it's......
I don't know I was raised on them. My dad has a early 2000's or maybe it's a 97 Suburban I can't remember, and then my mom got a 2001 or 2000 Yukon XL and now she has a 2008 Suburban and my dad still has the old suburban (They're divorced). I was born in 97 to give perspective. They're the best vehicles ever.
GUN CUBBY HOLE! Awesome!
Oh wow I had the heads up display on 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix
people over 50: i want more chrome
people under 50: i want paint matched or blacked out
I'm well under 50 and I don't like the painted bumpers and grills, give me chrome any day. Painted looks cheap to me. Too much chrome isn't a good thing either though.. especially when it's plastic that's chromed.
Real fans watch this in 360p
Is the 2019 ram rebel better that the ram limited
Humongous Chungus77 good question. They’ve recalled so many off them now (all new 2019’s) that we’ll have to wait and see.
Excellent video... but it will be good if you announce about new chive / gmc / Escalade
Cool video. But, was kinda-sorta hoping for a parking lot burnout and some smokey 360s at the end.
So, no one gonna mention that Benz on the beach ? 11:50
