      Exactly what I logged on to say. I think the same thing would apply to the db readings. The score by itself gives us data, but no context. Put up the scores of other trucks and it gives analysis and perspective.

      I think they make way too big of a deal out of what side the brake controller is on. Once you get the controller dialed in you don't normally have to touch it the rest of your trip. Other things that you need to touch more often should be on the right side.

      It works great on our suburban when you use cruise control... It doesn't know what speed you're trying to achieve if you don't tell it. Why would it control your speed without knowing? It's so funny how they overlook this every time they test the trucks.

    The Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and the Cadillac Escalade account for 50% of all large SUV sales in the US. GM makes 340,000 of them every year and exports about 80,000 to 31 countries. They’re made in GM’s plant in Arlington, Texas, which is said to be the most profitable assembly plant in the world. We estimate they generate $20 billion in revenue for GM and about $4 billion in profits. Autoline Daily

    The black dead space on the end of the mirror housing is likely for better sight acquisition of the mirror, and to help with contrasting where the mirror ends; so there is no, mirror edge, road or light blending. Mostly during a fast merging or changing lanes scenario in high traffic. At least that's what I hope. Lol other wise, wtf!

    When you are driving multiple vehicles I can see where standardization of some controls would be a benefit. Once you are use to it no big deal. Remember when Ford put the horn button on the end of the signal light stalk. Absolutely hated it at first, once I got use to it best place for it. Using the 3/9 hand position on the wheel just meant tapping the stalk. Great location. Unfortunately the whiners got it changed.
    One think I would like to know is can you pick a gear in the automatic and hold it? Use to driving standards in trucks and going down hill would pick a gear that I know would hold the speed I want and go with it. One of the reasons I prefer standards or the dual clutch auto's where you can pick the gear.

    Disagree with you guys about the break controller. It belongs on the left as most of us are right handed and we should use our dominant hand for fine steering inputs while our left hand can be used for gross motor skills of squeezing. Now I will say it is WAY to low at knee level. The last gen GM twins had it correct, high on the left.

As far as trucks go its Chevy all the way, screw that ecoboom crap. Its fine for an SUV that won't be used for towing that often but not for a truck.

    Somebody was picking their nose and touching the towing brake controller at 10:26. Andre tried to discretely wipe it off. The best way to do this is to rub your picking fingers together with your thumb out the window while driving in the wind before you touch anything or dig back in for more. It must have been an emergency break situation to stop sway.

    • @ashes2ashes863
      @ashes2ashes863 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the real reason they don't like where that brake controller is. It's clearly interacting with their nose picking fingers in a negative way and need to move it to the other side because they don't use their right fingers for picking apparently.

  • @russellrogers3260
    @russellrogers3260 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I have argued this for along time. I have had my CDL for years but prefer the electric on the left. I have legitimate reason, I pull many different trailers and it's more comfortable on the left to brake check when you first hook up. That is the only time I use it other than sliding a fifth wheel hitch when I had a short bed. The hand brake on most (air brake) truck/trailer systems isn't on the dash at all but on the steering column. The buttons on the right are just the release for charging the system. I think more than the left vs right I want it higher so it's easier to keep your head up while watching mirrors

      Not by a long shot. There is no way a mid size pickup could handle a large trailer as well as a Suburban. Towing weight never tells the whole story.
