Finally someone with common sense and didn’t skip over the wiring. Thanks man!
Hahah! Isn’t it funny man?? Nobody ever includes that part! Thank you for the great comment and thank you for watching!
THANK YOU!!!!!!! FINALLY a real how-to vid. I've never seen anyone else on any wiring video explain in detail, show the full wiring connections or do it as simple as this. Good job brother !
I paid off my f150 so now I'm making upgrades. And FINALLY a video that doesn't magically skip over the wiring. Thanks for the instructions. Very straightforward. Subscribed!
Congrats on paying off the truck! YESSS! Every other video skips it completely or does it wrong. Thank you so much for the kind words and thank you for subscribing.
My grill kit didn’t come with those small things that connect to my wires ???
Probably one of the BEST, How To, videos I've seen. Well done!
Wow! Thank you for saying that. 🙏🏻
Excellent vid! Clear, concise, and to the point! Thx, my man!!👍👍👍
Glad you liked it!
Finally someone who doesn't assume what they're doing is so easy and common sense that everyone should know all the details about it. Thank you sir!
My pleasure man! Respect.
I’ve gone through maybe 15 videos and not one showed this step. Thanks a lot brother, awesome vid!
My pleasure. Thank you for the positive comment!
It took a New Yorker to finally post the most important part of the install. Thank you sir...
I know this is ridiculous, but something as simple as this helps out so much. The last time I wired anything was on a '76 Camaro, on a hot fuse!! Lol, videos like these are top-notch and show little tricks that are great. I've learned how to repair my F150 sunroof guides (took 2 days), replace my a/c compressor (08 Accord-3 hours), replace my home hot water heater (couple hours) I could go on..... my point is I did it from content created by folks like you. They all deserved a subscribe, as you do. Thank you for your time!! You guys have taught me so much and saved me so much money over the years, I don't even know. 👌
What a great comment. Seeing comments like this makes it all worth it. I’m glad you found the video helpful. 🙌🏻
I love how thorough my man is, sheesh. Now thats how you do it!
Thank you for this! I don’t know why everyone skips this step in their Raptor grille installs!
I got you man! I’m so glad you liked the video. 🤙🏻
This is the best one i have seen yet on grill lights
Thank you sir!
Thank you for this, been holding off getting the lights due to not having a plan to getting them wired up.
Thanks for checking out the video! My pleasure. Did you install the grille yet?
Thank you! Your walk-through for wiring was perfect. Besides being extremely helpful it is universal as I used your tips to set up raptor lights on my LR3.
Thank you for taking the time to say that. I can’t believe all the great comments for this video. It’s legitimately rewarding and keeps me motivated. Have a great weekend and thanksgiving.
@@AutoHeadz Your comment about no other videos describing the wiring is absolutely correct. I bet I reviewed 20 videos yours was the only one that walked you through it. As you mentioned wiring is the most important part. Thanks again!
Appreciate all tips! It about time someone explained in detailed. Thanks!
Thank you for saying that. I appreciate it!
@@AutoHeadzI took your advice connecting wires. No luck! Used 12 volt battery test lights. Good! Lights came with red lead that goes directly fuse box. Haven’t pursued yet. Any more tips share?
Thanks... I've noticed that almost every video spends about 30 seconds on the wiring... It's like "ok yeah, you just plug this into the fuse box. So easy." Thanks for the detailed explanation about the most crucial part of the install
Lol! Yes!!! That’s why I made this video. It’s honestly comical. Most complicated part just gets skipped. Thanks for watching the video man. The next few month are going to be heavy with F150 content. Hope to talk you again! Take care man.
Thanks brother! Appreciate taking the time to show the process! I like the wire kit rather than cutting the wires and using wire nuts. Much cleaner! Thanks again 🔥🤙🏼 - Mat
My pleasure! Thanks for saying that Mat.
You made day with your kind words. Have a great Sunday. 👍🏻
Big thank you for showing how to wire the lights. I've ordered the wiring parts box (and it's a mere 9 dollars and change!). And I'll be wiring up the lights as soon as my package arrives.
I love it man! I hear people in the comments say that their friends had to spend upwards of 350 $400 to get these wired up. Nine bucks and the job is done. Enjoy the grille!!
@@AutoHeadz I wired up the lights today and they are working properly and really looking good. To think I was going to cut here and splice there and don't forget the electrical tape...etc. Nope, I didn't have to do any of that thanks to this video.
@@torresserg So glad I could help man. It’s very rewarding hearing people like you find my videos so helpful. Take car. 🤙🏻
For anyone with an 09-14 gen the wiring concept is the exact same, only difference is the grill stays connected to the hood. But, with the self splicers and connectors you listed in the description made this job so fucking easy. Got the lights hooked up and work. I have a 2010 fx2 ( it’s all I could afford within my budget) plus under 100,000 miles I couldn’t get a better deal for my first truck. But, I’m no mechanic by any means but, this job was very easy self fulfilling after I completed it.
Awesome man! Thanks for sharing and thank you for the positive feedback.
This is the perfect vid for installing those amber grill led. I like it to turn on when i on the park lights
Thank you for this video. Did in 10 minutes because of this video💪🙏
You’re welcome! 🙌🏻
Dude I've been trying different ways to run my lights for my Tundra grill for a year! This is the first video that actually explains the wiring and they work!!! You're the fucking bomb dude!
Thank you for saying this my man!
I’m glad I could help.
Great info and perfectly explained, the intro music? Yikes not good Brah!!! but the info was top notch.
Lol I know bro! Sorry man this was earlier on in my TH-cam career lol!
@@AutoHeadz No worries man. Great info and that's what counts.
Thanks man! Easy job on my montero
I’m about to drive up to New York so I can buy you a beer. You the man 🙌🏽
Hahahahaha!!! MY MAN🤙🏻🙌🏻
Great vid. Installing on a Ford Edge. Just wanted to check my thinking on how to connect the wiring. This was clean, simple, and to the point. Great job.
Thank you very much, I appreciate you saying that.
Just got a new grill with the LED lights... no installation instructions....Have been looking for help on the wiring...Great Video and instructions...thank you!
I know I’m a little late but you saved me🤣
Haha! Thank you! Glad I could help 🤙🏻
Positaps are the bomb diggity for wiring
Good morning I really really appreciate you replying back thank you so much for that .I looked into your link and I see the t-tap connectors on where you purchased them:-) going to get this project going. sir you have been a big help thank you so much God bless you brother. Stay Gold 👍
Any time. 😊
THANK YOU! Finally a proper wiring video on this
Your welcome! 🙏🏻🙌🏻
Awesome thanks! You helped me solve my AVS Lightshield wiring issue, plus I had those save wiring connections... bonus!
Awesome! I’m glad I was able to help. If you haven’t already PLEASE subscribe and you would really be helping me out. Do you have an F-150?
Hands down the best video I’ve seen great video
Hey man that means a lot. Take care and I really appreciate you saying that.
Thanks for the wiring explanation and very true no one explains this important step ‘thanks for the vid helped alote
Absolutely man, thank you for watching.
Well done, excellent explanation… Great camera work in a tight area putting your connections together.
The only thing I would suggest is using dialectic grease in all the connecters 😎
This one is a good video 👍
everyone else is slice and dice 🎲
and hopefully it works
Thank for this also! Great install videos!! I just did my grill using your videos!!
Haha! Nice man. I love it!!
Does it matter whether you use 22 or 16 gauge connectors?
Thank you so much. I just hooked mine up today.
Glad I could help. Enjoy the upgrade!
Thank you so much for your video. I got it done under 30 minutes thanks to you man!!!
Haha! love hearing that! I’m glad I was able to help!
Clutch video thanks boss man
No problem 👍
Thanks for the video, you explained this perfectly.
Thank you. Feels good hearing this. Keeps me motivated. 🙏🏻
Really nice video man, I have a 2016 platinum do you think I can do the same wiring connections, or is it more complicated because of the trim model? Thumbs 👍 to the video
Very well explain..thank you for a good set up and explanation..
Thanks for saying that! I’m glad you found it helpful. Have a good weekend.
Hey, what gauge wire is it? I have a 2009-2014 gen and I need to extend the wire so it doesn’t hang from the top of the hood when the hood is up. Thanks for actually going in depth on how to do this.
Thank you thank you!!!
You are so welcome! Can you tell me where you got the grille? Iv been trifling to fin them on Amazon.
Thank you! We needed this!
Your the man. I’m glad you liked it.
Great video. I decided to upgrade my grille lights to white LED. For some unknown reason, they don't work. Everything connects right, but they did come with extra wiring? What do you think?
I bought a ram truck with existing lights and grille but they didn’t really care for amber so I bought different color ones with same exact connectors but didn’t work so I ended buying different brand with same connectors but still didn’t work, the old ones still work and are wired correctly could it be the wiring harness ?
I kinda did the same but I cut it and solder it 3 ways
Good late late evening. I know this video is 2 years old but First of all would like to say I appreciate your video and showing step-by-step. yes I agree every video that I have watched for the past 2 months or 3 months have all skipped the wiring of installing of the Raptor Grill. well I'm a lady trying to do this by myself lol. right now I'm having a difficult time trying to get the plastic clamp or I guess they're called the brackets? on the grill to snap onto the hood I have a 2009 F-150 XLT, but I'm sure I will get that part figured out lol, my biggest worry is I'm just very nervous about the wiring 😟.. my question is the red wiring Clips, where did you purchase those. as I said I'm a lady doing this by myself lol and I want to do this right the first time lol, so I hope my questions on Where did you purchase those little red Clips, what kind?,what size?,what brand? etc etc etc lol, gets to you. hope to hear from you soon. thank you sir:-)
Hey!
Thank you so much for saying that. I really try and be as detailed and step by step as I can.
Don’t be nervous about the wiring just take your time and you will be able to knock it out.
1. The link for the exact clips are in the description of this video. Just click the link and it will bring you right to it.
2. When you use the red clips make sure you can see that the wire is right in the center before squeezing shut. You should use a pair of pliers to help ensure you have a good connection.
3. If for some reason the lights don’t turn on give the red clip another good squeeze and that should do it.
Good luck! If you want to reach out with any other question feel free to email me autoheadzf150@gmail.com
What kind of terminal connector and the size? Thank you
Hey man, I’m not 100% sure what size it was. If you click the link for the taps in the description you can match the color in the video and that will tell you the size I do it myself but I’m on the road right now hope that helps man.
Thank you so much boss
Most welcome
What's the Gauge Size? On the plastic connectors
Atta boy!
Finally! A good grille light install video! Thank you!
My pleasure!!!
Awesome video .bro! Thank you much.
My pleasure!
1 question, if i decide to change my headlights out, will i have to rewire this since you attached those connectors to the parking wire?
Totally fine if you end up getting new headlights, just snip the connection going into the parking wire see a little off with some electrical tape and it’s like it never happened
Great video, thank you. This may be a stupid question but does it matter if you tap into the right or left side headlight?
Would this work the same on a 2015 F-50 XLT. The wiring looks the same...
Yes it will.
Man I’ve tried installing via quick splice & T taps on both sides and my lights won’t come on. However if I use a wire to run straight from battery to grill lights they light up. Any tips?
Great advice
My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video, works - thanks! Quick question: followed steps exactly, I did notice & curious if it happens with yours - when I have the hazard lights on, I notice the grille lights would dim ever so lightly on sequence with the hazards?
Thank you! I haven’t noticed this with mine.
Thank you! Good vid.
Thank you Sir!
Awesome thanks very much
Absolutely! Glad you liked it!
I accidentally had the black and red wire touch and it made the fuse go off. Does anyone know the location of DRL fuse in 2015 F-150?
Is there a way to wire these to the fuse box instead?
I don’t believe so.
Thank you!
Thank you for subscribing! Very much appreciate it.
My amber grill lights stopped working out of nowhere. Checked connections, all are good and I tested pos/neg. All of my lights work to include DRLs I tapped into. Is there a fuse that I should check?
Gonna give this a shot on my 2019 today. I always wonder why they don't just make a connector that sits between the headlight and the wiring harness.
Hey man how did it go?
Great video! Does the wiring kit come with load resistors? Just seems like the 12v would be too much for the led lights over time..
No resistors included, just spliced into the parking brake. Been three years never had an issue.
Do the lights on the grille flash when you use your signal light? If you're tapping Into your parking lights and they're also your blinker, won't they flash when you signal?
Nick Rose Hey Nick! Nope it doesn’t do that. I’m not an electrician but I believe that has to do with the electrical resistance going to the signaling bulb. But I can assure you it doesn’t do that so no worries. Maybe someone else can educate us in the comment section, lol. Take care man!
@@AutoHeadz okay great, Thanks man! Love the video by the way
Do they make replacement lights for these i like the white lights
Great DIY!
Thank you!
Thank you man👍🏾
You’re welcome 🤙🏻
How is the raptor style grill holding up? Is it fading in color at all? Any other issues over the long term?
It’s perfect man. Looks and works just as good as day I got it.
Can we use the 16-14 awg instead of 22-18 awg?
Dumb question but, I figured I’d ask anyway. Did you take out the battery or disconnect it while you did the wiring?
Good question. No I didn’t. As long as the truck is off key out of ignition you will be totally fine.
I'm trying to do this on my 15 Platinum but that connector isn't there. I looked everywhere and the only harness going to that light is what looks like a 7 wire 16 pin connector and that's it. I has DRLs. Do I connect the raptor wires to something on that?
You can connect to that 7 wire but I am not familiar with the harness enough to tell you which wire to splice onto. I’ll try looking it up online.
On that connector there should be a power and a ground wire. Typically on the fords the power is a green wire and the ground is black.
Thanks bro 🤜
You’re welcome.
I did this and now the light doesn’t work and the grille lights don’t turn on. Fuse isn’t blown. Idk what the issue is. Any ideas?
I have a 2019 f150. Will this be the same?
Not the same but VERY similar. I would reference the location of your “parking” light before splicing because if the different headlight design.
Your videos have been a huge help bud, appreciate it. Question though- how did you access/identify the parking lot socket/bundle? Did u have to remove the entire headlight assembly? Go through the wheel well? I’m stuck I can’t see how to access it.
If you watch the video it was in plain sight for my truck. No wheel well or removal of headlight assembly required.
@@AutoHeadz Yeah something different on mine. Your vid was a huge help thanks
I’m glad I was able to help. I hope you find that wire bundle without too much trouble. Take care.
I installed using your perfect directions and thanks!! Question, the side marker light I tapped into is now dim. Did you replace your side marker lights with led or is your dim as well? Well done video!!
Thanks man!!! Mine was not dim but I did recently switch them out to LED’s
I followed your video and it was great, thank you! What did you do with all of the extra length on the wiring harness? The one that came with my grill was really long. Did you just zip tie it and leave it off to the side?
Hey Angela. Thank you! I’m glad you liked the video! My grille didn’t have much slack left but I just tucked the extra wire into the upper grille area.
@@AutoHeadz thanks! I appreciate the quick reply. Mine has several feet of wire left, I think I'm going to cut it shorter and just tuck it in like you did.
I honestly would just zip tie the slack and tuck it into the front grille area we’re the plastic shroud is.
Good shit hommie!! Tyty
lol! Absolutely man.
the link for the grille is for a ram truck not an f150
Amazon keeps changing it. Here is a good one.amzn.to/3WahyNh
Thanks
One last question, were you able to hide the wiring? Mines is just hanging in the middle behind the grill. ☹️
Yes, tucked it under the “shroud” piece I mention in the video. Hope that helps 🤙🏻
Can I run the wires straight to the battery?
Unfortunately no, because the lights would not turn off.
@@AutoHeadz ok thanks
Leonard Evans No problem man. I learned that the hard way! Lol
Wil this be the same for the Ford Escape version as well???
I’m honestly not sure. I bet it’s very similar but not the same.
Do you happen to have a link for just the wiring harness? I have the grill installed, but no wires or taps. Thx
No wires? Like nothing connected to the lights?
This is for the harness - amzn.to/3i66WgM
Taps - amzn.to/3ADuY9u
@@AutoHeadz I bought a 2017 F150 Sport with a Raptor Grill. The three lights are there, with the short wires and female ends connected to each. But nothing else! And I'd like to get the lights working. The kit you had with the yellow waterproof connectors and crimps onto parking lights looks perfect -- that's what I'm trying to find. Thx again for any help
My pleasure! Good luck.
Let me know how it goes. Have a good thanksgiving.
Since you wired these to the parking light wires, does this mean the lights will only be on if my parking lights are activated? If im driving at night will these lights come on with my headlights?
Yes, the lights come on automatically when your regular lights turn on.
What happens if it doesn’t wor?
Can you do this same setup with a Chevy Colorado?
I don’t believe so sorry.
How do I do this on a 2011 f150?
I would suggest looking on TH-cam for how to do this for the 2011 F150 model. Good luck man.
@@AutoHeadz Ok Thanks
The kit i order didn't come with the small connector, where can I get these so I can finish my installation, thank you.
Here is the link.
amzn.to/2A31QfK
@@AutoHeadz Thank you so so much, for sending me that link, your video was very informative much appreciated.
Absolutely sir. I’m glad I could help!
$10 bucks just for a couple connectors
@@benzyboy1307 yeah man, I hear you. Kind of sucks because you only need one but I found one that’s a little cheaper. Good luck man.
amzn.to/3oWREJN
My kit has a fuse wite
Does it have a way to connect to battery?
Or is it just a fuse wire?
Where did you buy?
Do the lights stay on while driving when tied into the parking lights like that? Great video btw!
Thanks man. Yes, they do. Everything works perfectly and exactly as you would see on a stock F150 Raptor.
The lights go on and off with the regular headlights. So when you have your lights on auto, the Grille lights will automatically turn on with the headlights.
