@@xNeoGenesis Of course people don't just spam it out of neutral, it's used mostly as an effectivee wakeup or to apply extra pressure, and when you have 3 people standing around you you usually don't even get to take the parry if you get it off
@@dalf_souls2199 I fought Bdubzs while he was using that weapon and it gave me a whole new level of respect for it, but alas, I don't know the weapon enough to do a proper review.
First Edit: I think your point about playing with a lot of setups has another truth. Don’t be allergic to good weapons. You see a lot of people claim that you can only “express true skill” or whatever if you’re using something bad, but in reality playing with what’s good taught me more about DS3 than playing with bad stuff ever did. This isn’t to say that you should *only* use what’s best; but understanding what makes a weapon good or bad requires you to play with it, regardless of how good or bad it is.
I think most people who say "I don't use good weapons, I use lower tier cool weapons" are just ppl who are scared of their losses and don't want to deal with it. If you use the absolute best equipment, did everything you knew and you still lost, there is no other way to look at it. You just failed to live upto the situation. But if you use lower tier weapons and you lost, you can always justify that you weren't really 100% trying to win anyway, and if you really really wished, you could have won. Like Richard Feynman said "The first principle is that you must not fool yourself - and you are the easiest person to fool"
Great tips once again. You’re right about the evolution into 2020. Some of the ganks at Pontiff are really finely tuned. They keep up with all of the new advances and techniques. They watch and learn from the great players too. It’s no longer three bad players getting together to become stronger (in some cases). Some are even no longer insecure enough to point down or throw poo anymore. Just kidding, they all still do that, but they are better for sure.
Yup. A lot of them are wayward invaders that probably got tired of losing. They're rarely great players, but they're often good, and good is all you need when you're ganking. Invading Pontiff IMO requires a totally different mindset than invading anywhere else. I just don't enjoy it that much, especially with the glitches.
@@iamamish It's interesting to see, really. Looking at a gank squad full of decent, gold medalist Lapps is almost like looking into one of your own possible futures
Brilliant video with brilliant commentary as always. I’m really glad to hear this is farewell yet. Also 1:40. I love to see that WA parried, not many people go for that.
Pls don't retire i just got here 2 weeks ago :( Great vids, very knowledgeable. We need your ds3 vids leading up to Elden Ring release. I like what you said about the parry tool 13:35 , as much as i want to be a parry lord like fighter.. i only get a decent amount of them and the rest i get punished, clapped at, blender'd ect... Will be adding estoc or something to offhand.
Yeah and similarly, I have decided I have to be OK w/ being a B+ player. I'd love to be better than that, but I can't afford to spend the time that would be necessary.
Team A- But.. At a cost.. It's been YEARS! since release date! I'm talking hours, and countless ds3 reddits and wiki pages.. Any A+ or S rank players out here?
Getting rid of the parry tool is some of the greatest advise in here for those looking to master spacing. I’ll admit (as you know) I generally keep a parry tool on me, but those are just the clips I post. Generally the main hand swap to shield for the parry is something that gets people pretty often. Especially when they see you don’t have a parry tool they’ll often feel more comfortable to attack out of hit stun. And if you’re quick with the swap, that hits run is more than enough time to swap to a parry tool. Great video with tons of great advise man :)
Amish, always great to hear from you! I get it, it's 2020, new games and remastered games are slotted to come out sooner than later, and it sounds like your work is taking up some time for you, but when I heard you say you'd originally planned a see ya later video, my heart dropped! I look forward to your content, your analysis and your humble attitude in these vids, so it will be a sad day when the last DS3 vid comes out from you, despite my understanding that it's fairly inevitable. Well, despite all that, I'm genuinely happy that you e found enjoyment in the game once again, I just picked up PvP once again today myself, it's a bit of a burnout machine dealing with some of the saltier players on this game, but honestly, my little break and the conscious decision to play with a better mindset has done wonders for my own gameplay. I think I owe quite a bit of that to you, kinda pushing me to reconsider what a tryhard is, reconsider my own gameplay and mistakes, and really just think far more critically about the entirety of the Dark Souls experience. I'm lucky enough to have a roommate that loves the game almost as much as I do, and him and I quote you and Sillydog, talk about ChaseTheBro and his most recent tryard strats, and basically just bounce ideas and concepts of the game back and forth, digging into what we think and why, and the different mentalities others have in the game. It's been a really cool journey in the Gitting Gud saga, thanks for that and the work put in my man!
Thanks for the video. Please keep them coming at least until another big game like DS3 comes out. I started playing in January 2020 and have made huge progress in win-loss history thanks to your videos! Cheers from Brazil!
Amish, thank you for all of your videos. Stumbled across your channel about a week ago and I've been binging your content. You offer great insight in an entertaining way, and I've already been improving, taking your advice into account. Cheers!
Hi there iamamish, I've just discovered your channel, only seen the one vid, as I was looking for some tips on ds3 pvp. I've already subscribed after seeing the first one, as I find your content interesting. just wanna say you have a great outlook on life in general. From tip 2, to recognise your weak points and turn those weaknesses into strengths is a sign of an good critical mind. These are the types of tips I was looking for, actually real tips. Not videos about parrying technique or other mechanics. Advice I can apply to my own mindset and pvp gaming. Can't wait to see the rest of the content! Thanks, man!
Enjoyed the watch. I actually think it's great for new or seasoned players to play duels often. Easy way to get lots of matches and see a general variety. Since there is no healing it's also a great way to learn the skill of quickly assessing your opponent. And for me some of the biggest lessons is you find a lot of the strong/cheese tactics there to learn to combat them. Or test them out yourself. It's an easy investment to learn a lot is all i'm saying.
I agree re: dueling, i think i brought that up in my previous video. It definitely helps sharpen skills like spacing, and seeing interesting builds and gimmick setups.
Good to see you haven’t gone hollow yet Amish. I agree a lot with the diminishing returns, man it is hard to get even an ounce of improvement these days, but when you cross that threshold.. it does feel good. Here’s to many more successful invasions!
Amish I haven't finished watching but I can promise you, hardswapping is never more important than your actual fundamentals, so don't beat yourself up about not being confident to hardswap weapons. To anyone in general looking to improve, there are much more important skills to focus on.
I agree and should have been clearer - my perspective is that for me, and for a lot of players who have plateaued a bit, if you aren't hardswapping it is a great way to get a lot of improvement. That said, if you haven't yet, spacing/timing/reads/etc. are all far more important.
I love the point about assessing your own game for where the biggest gains can be made, that's an excellent insight that I've not seen articulated elsewhere. Glad to hear that rumors of your demise were greatly exaggerated...
My own personal advice to the untrained: play around with different weapons, I know your current weapon looks cool and works, but if you stick to that only you won't improve. Recently I've been forcing myself to swap more often, not because I necessarily need to, but as a way to better myself. And who woulda known, I found myself a new favorite weapon in the warpick!
I have had trouble going up against the warpick. I've faced off against some skilled users and just get my ass handed to me. I find it impossible to space against, counter damage is ridiculous. This is a reminder that I need to try using it more to figure out how to fight against it
@@Eternal-Seven exactly! Hammers are used so little that we don't know the timings on the damn things! Also yeah the counter damage is insane, and the roll catches are crazy. Definitely a weapon with potential, I'm absolutely clueless as to why I haven't seen it used more often.
I wouldn't say hammers aren't used much, the mace is recognized as one of the better weapons in the game and I come up against it all the time. I've also used it and the morning star quite a lot. The warpick moveset and roll catching is similar to those, but the range, specifically on 2 handed moveset seems to be better. I space against it similar as I would against the mace and I'm not safe. When I'm using the weapon I've not noticed having similar range as to what I've encountered when used against me. I wish more people used it to get a better baseline. This thing is imo very underrated, especially as a counter damage weapon with the Leo ring. The galvanize weapon art isn't perseverance level of op, but it does give one trade worth of hyper armor which seems to also not be well known, I don't really care for the extra stamina regen so that's secondary in my book.
@@Eternal-Seven only problem with galvanize is it counts as a weapon buff, so if you were using a resin or anything of the sort you can consider wasted. Other than that yeah you're right, the mace is super common.
If you're using the war pic with that one ring, astora's Greatsword benefits from that ring as well and I have had people for 1200 damage in one hit with that ring and sword and not even level 80
You're meming but yes, until you have 30-35 vigor the only thing you should level up is vigor, it is by far the stat with the most gains on investment and not dying is critically more import than dealing more damage, even if you're just harrassing with a crossbow you're better red than dead, or something
Hey amish. Its good to see you upload a new video. I took a break from DS3 for a while this year, for pretty common reasons. It's actually fun watching G9 again and having to git gud, again. Hope you're doing well with the new job, and staying safe!
You're actually underrated. Once the community is back alive for Demon Souls, you're gonna hit an all time high and skyrocket in subscriber count, guranteed. You'll get more motivated to make videos as you progress in seeing your growth. Regardless of it, don't let slow growth discourage you, i think thats one of the many components that turns off many people because they dont look forward in that department. Your mindset should be that you know you'll get something done, or achieve a goal.
Thanks! My motivation was never really about channel growth, though it's great that it happens. For me the main motivation was the community interaction, and trying to git gud.
Just watched these two tips & tricks videos. Interesting stuff. Looking forward to checking out some of these other videos, especially the beginner's corner. On most of the rare occasions I've spent time focusing on pvp, it's been rough.
That last tip about fighting better players. I did that when I wanted to get into pvp on Xbox and oh man I did get beat a lot but I ended up learning so many different play styles and info on pvp
Matthew Chaney honestly dude from what I have notice all the good players have left the scene it feels like. I have put over maybe 2k hrs into it and info that I have heard that they went to either pc or ps sadly. I made the switch to pc because it has better frames
I feel like I have hit a ceiling as of how good I can get at 2k hrs, due to Laggy players which makes the game unpredictable very hard to judge spacing, unlocked back stab timings, parry timing and so on...also I live in Australia so far away 😔keep making vids dude there amazing 👍
Great video, i think the best piece of advice I would give to people is that there is nothing on gods green earth that should compel you to continue playing if the fun stops. You as the player get to dictate how you want to play not the other players. Taking frequent breaks when you feel yourself getting frustrated helps keep the game fun.
hey man I hope you didn't delete your other comment - I did not take it personally. Any frustration you detected was frustration at myself for not taking the time to make my position clearer. I almost re-recorded that section but decided against it because I was lazy. Sorry if my response was rude.
@@iamamish yeah I felt that my comment came off as kinda stand-offish and I didn't want it to start a brigade of negativity towards you from other commentors, so I removed it. Don't apologise mate, it must be frustrating having people jump down your throat after you already made a vid explaining your point of view! The whole exploit/glitch meta is just a very touchy subject for everyone right now. Sorry again!
Great video. I haven't really invaded in ds3 since 2018 or so but one thing that resonated with me was to ditch the parry tool. I used to ALWAYS have a parry shield on the offhand and sometimes I knew I looked like the guy who gets laughed at in the Oroboro video for whiffing a parry 4 times in a fight. Or I'd block when i shouldn't to reduce damage but compromise my stamina. Eventually i moved on to infused caestus which had some alternative utility with Perseverance, but once I started off handing other weapons I had a lot more fun and realized parries were much more situational than I thought. Hopefully when you do retire from ds3 we'll have Elden Ring or DeSR for you to jump into. But I suspect the PvP gameplay of the latter will be very similar to ds3 as that's just a safe option, it's the bestseller of the series.
Yup! You have to be careful though because it does so much hitstun that you can miss the riposte if you trade as I did. Because I was close and due to riposte priority I still got it, but if I hadn't been right next to him, I would have missed the riposte.
Thanks for pointing this out. When I watched the video I didn't process what happened there though it looked weird to me. Your comment was very helpful
Pushing yourself to get to the next level or deciding you're satisfied with where you are. Maybe the latter isn't always worse, but I'm still trying to stay in the former. Studying and trying to improve yourself based on your enemies as well as yourself. The strengths, the weaknesses, the good plays, and the bad plays. See you in DS3
yeah i can do it but not quickly, and just haven't had time to really work at it. I see the value though when I watch players like JeeNiNe do it so effortlessly, and it always gives them that extra edge.
You play with a controller? Reason i ask is cause i play k&m and find it pretty hard to do with the mouse, arrow keys are easier but then i don't have my hand on my mouse. I know it can be done just don't find a lot of information on k&m
@@jaakbonenstaak8041 yeah me too. Just using mouse is a lot slower and messier. I'm currently using two mouse buttons to switch left and right, but even then when confirming the swap by left click, it switches to the mouse position instead. I'm not sure how other people do it.
I’ve always played a lot in the menu to swap weapons mid fight since 2018 at least. Not many people did that back then, now it’s a lot more frequent to see
Yeah general weapon swapping has been around for a while, but the super situational quick hard swap is relatively new. There has always been a group of players (like Gnampf) who have been doing it for a long time, but I think JeeNiNe really demonstrated the utility of quick swapping for people who weren't just crit fishing.
To be honest my greatest PVP moment rn is me back stepping, then swapping my LKS with the chaos dagger and then backstabbing an Aldrich faithful as a sunlightbro. Gotta say, I was in a trance when I did that
Unrelated to the video but I really like your music choices. What was that song at the end? I'm certain I've heard it before in some math rock playlist. Elephant gym?
the problem with me is that i never go for parries... i have my simple caestus for fp regen but i just play the classic way like free cam backstab or outspacing never learned fancy strats
I recently discovered wyour channel by G9 recomending it on his channel. I've saw almost every recent video and some of the 2 years ago you posted and is helping me a lot! Please continue sending more stuff! Maybe something about being a blue? You are making those videos helping as blue. Would be nice. The best sl for being a blue is always a mystery to me. Good video!
Actually, I would like so much to send one or two videos for the series you do commenting the invasions of your subscribers. You will keep doing those videos?
Parrying was always overrated. Once you get used to playing without a parry tool, its hard to go back. Nice to hear your enjoying DS3 again, I've been taking a break from it the last few months myself ;)
It takes a lot of practice. I recommend trying it against the PVE first. Just make a new build and try to stab anything you can. That’ll let you work on the mechanic itself without having to also worry about the correct read.
Being a blue is underrated. I don't enjoy it as much now because hosts tend to be more experienced, but it is fun helping unskilled players. I just don't like fighting as part of a strong gank.
@@iamamish it is! i don't do it at meta, but mid-level. it can be interesting to see how invasions are going for other people. sometimes you might find a way to cuck the home team (vow, for example), kill a greify invader, or sacrifice yourself to give the red some estus. also the blue sentinels phantom color is 😍
Bye bye, Amish. I'm watching this video pretty late since I've only recently returned from a hiatus from dark souls and dark souls content, but all the same I want thank you for all of the great videos you've put out. See you in Elden Ring, if that's even still a thing.
Many hosts in spear fights tend to be worst than the phantoms in my experience, just like most invasions. In a 4v1 spear fight you have so much poise. When I focus on the host from the beginning and get him to low health, there really isnt anything he can do, unless I get backstabbed from the phantoms, the poise just lets me walk through all the attacks. Thats what happened in the vid too, so I agree on the spears part.
Sometimes that strategy can work, but the phantoms are usually pretty focused on the host. I find it easier to take out the phantoms one at a time, since they don't have the same estus reserves, and then kill the host at the end. However, when an opportunity like this presents itself, I'm all over it.
iamamish I agree! The difference is I’m like a month into the spear fights so I’m usually not gonna be able to take the phantoms out one by one. Also, if you dont have a video in your mind to make, dont force a video but if you find anything noteworthy on any invasion clip please dont hesitate to share, love your stuff!
Firstly, I hope you do get time to do some more videos, they are always great quality, informative and most importantly, enjoyable. On G9 and comparing himself to you, you should recognise that he's playing a different game to you, sort of. His main build and aim is to dispose of good quality ganks at PS4 meta level, most of which are competent at hardswapping and estus cancel. He's really, really good at that and impressive to watch. But the odd time he runs across your average Joe's just trying to co-op the game, he often gives them too much respect, is too patient and takes longer to take them out than you would (IMO). You've been refining your skills to different targets. That's not to say he's not better than you (we both know he's winning a duel Bo9 even though I would love to see it) but take comfort in the small ways you're better than him too :) And I totally get why you can't spare the time and devotion to get up to his standard. Just because you can't doesn't mean you don't have valid things to say on DS3. Anyways, I'm off to practice estus cancel and get my first PS4 build up to meta, where I can find out the hard way what meta pontiff is like on PS4...
Wow literally just got done watching your pvp tips vídeo from 7 months ago. Btw a video on pvp as a caster would be nice, all the good players just upload videos with quality builds
Some casting tips: don’t spec for damage, you’re not in a gank, and you don’t have much to defend you if your build is a glass cannon, also it’s far too easy to hit a fellow invader with a highly overpowered CSS or (god forbid) CBV. Rely on ranged spells for things like back rolls or tight corridors, and don’t be above using a melee weapon where it fits better. Again, stressing the importance of having a melee tool: you’re not going to be hitting people much in an invasion using pure magic, but weapons can be a means to create openings for those sorcerers. Casting is cool because it gives you tools for situations that you just won’t ever have as a melee build and it’s this utility that really makes casting special, not big projectile damage. There really isn’t loads and loads of information out there on casting so I feel your pain, but if you’re not used to it I would first try out a demons scar build with black flame, great chaps fireball and maybe fire surge though I question it’s utility out of killing people after popping tears. The curved sword moveset really helps acclimatise you to the ranges of effectiveness you usually have to work with as a mage and having the catalyst built in is obv super useful. Good luck! And I better not see you out there spamming CBV!!
Oh and don’t forget about casting speed! Having full casting speed opens you up for a few true combos that are extremely important for stuff like demons scar (and the new heyselsoulsword) builds
Amazing video Amish, looking at it I wanted to touch on two things, first of all I do agree with the statement about parry tools and needing to switch off from them for a while, however like you said hard swapping to a parry tool is in my opinion much better in a lot of cases. Not only does your opponent have to make a read that you will hard swap, they also have to then keep that in mind no matter what sort of setup you are currently using, adding a lot of mental stress to your opponent when ever you do hit it. Secondly I wanted to bring something up and hear your thoughts on it. You see as of late I have been in a bit of a strange situation in terms of gameplay, I recently learned to play claw, and my crit game has improved, but at the same time it also feels like even though I do take time to try and improve my rustic play it is damn near impossible to get better, my question is if this might be because I am spreading out my focus groups or not? Also dont have a lot of opportunities to fight people much better than me outside of a few friends and stream sniping so while I would love to just sit down and duel amazing players every now and then, I dont have many chances to, and the main area I am feeling this lack of improvement is certainly in invasions. What do you think?
@@iamamish Indeed there are not, and well being "I wanna fight G9 " number 69420 is not really gonna do much, to really improve at this rate I would need to get in touch with someone and just play with them for very long periods of time.
Well even a retirement would only be from DS 3. I'm sure I'd be back with videos for Elden Ring. I'm trying to avoid Demon Souls hype as I'm not sure how fun it will be. Thanks for the encouragement!
Heyo amish. New subscriber here. Love your content! It really helps me getting to grips with the nuances of pvp engagements. I recently switched from console to pc ds3 and my god the pc players are a different tier entirely. I've however made myself able to stand my ground against players that i would, judging by my own experience and insight into your content and other ds3 content creators, describe as advanced to say the least. I was wondering, i've seen your series on viewer submitted invasions. I was wondering if the series is ongoing? Do you still take submissions? If so, how do i go about submitting an invasion?
I do - Google search of Soulsplanner and iamamish should bring it back. In general though my build making is a weakness and I’d advise looking to other players for build suggestions. ChaseTheBro is a good example. Good luck!
Way more of the highlight clips.^^ Yes, there was always an idea to make a video like best of fails, but was more looking for funny fails. Fact, even I learned something here. We are never done learning. :)
This series isn't about getting good, it's about getting very, very good. I'm not that good and only have down the basics of spacing and I try to read and condition my opponent. That's generally enough to win most normal invasions quite comfortably at mid-level up to SL60. I also manage to wipe the occasional gank squad all by my lonesome self, almost exclusively relying on taking advantage of their mistakes. That being said, under pressure I do a lot of mistakes myself. Does it bother me? Not really, as the time investment into getting really, really good seems a bit much. You do improve continously, though, just by being aware of what you're doing just as this video is talking about. So for anyone trying to get into invasions, listen closely to whatever iamamish says and don't get disheartened by the amount of "skills" you need to acquire. Being a small step above average already makes you a predator, and as long as you have at least a rough plan that (sometimes) works on how to deal with different types of opponents (mainly the weapons they use), you're on a good track. For the longest time I couldn't properly deal with Ultra-users since I prefer small weapons, for example. I started using Perserverence to overcome them, works sometimes. I then learned to roll backstab and lastly learned to condition them into doing parry-able attacks. Neither one of these are fantastic by themselves, but in combination they work consistently. What I did to "train" my invasion tool box was to create a low level invader (SL34+3 and then 36+6) with lots of Vigor and decent stamina and just enough stats to use a decent set of standard weapons. I avoided the typical "twink weapons" since the purpose of the character was to learn how to use "proper weapons". Since you do fairly low damage, you are basically forced to learn backstabbing, parrying and roll catching to properly finish people off. A perfect combination with having lots of hitpoints so you can afford making mistakes without losing the invasion and start over all the time. The main advantage of SL34+3 is that you can't face anyone with a stronger weapon than +4, so you'll live longer but your damage is not good. The main advantage of SL36+6 is that you will have a weapon advantage over most players you face, since you will invade people between SL31 and 59 with weapons ranging from +4 to +8 but you almost never face anyone above +6 due to the carefully selected Soul Level of 36. The around SL40+4 level range is still fairly active so you'll get a good amount of invasions. A raw weapon with a bundle or resin will do quite good damage due to being +6, and you will have a good amount of hitpoints and stamina to survive mistakes here as well but you will die faster than at 34+3, so it's important that you have at least some basics down first or you'll easily lose determination to keep practicing. At this level the Raw Dragonslayer's Axe +6 along with an Estoc offhand becomes incredibly powerful in terms of raw damage output, if you want to go down that line. Difficult to master but the weapon combination is incredibly viable even at Meta level. The axe can be switched out for other weapons at SL90 or 125 as well. Also, don't be afraid to learn new weapons even if it means looking like a complete fool while practicing.
Great comment, sorry I missed this originally. You also have to think about how much time you want to devote to improvement. For me, I'm pretty much at my limit. I could be better, but don't want it badly enough to justify the effort.
And here am i started playing souls games only in 2021... now on DS3.. and i must say invading..and being invaded is very fun... :D Currently on lv117 and i invade and am being invaded as i play... or just go have fun at pontif's, i know it is a bit too high for invasions..but i am on ng+ as i want to get all the achievements with this character will roll a new character soon.. XD There are good advices here.. and i have a lot learn and practice still.. i cant parry, not even npc-s..havent managed a single parry in DS3 yet.. and to practice spacing, very often i swing the air because the weapon is shorter than i expect it to be ... XD One question thou...for author of video or anybody... what exactly is "panic rolling" i see this term mentioned quite often but i am not sure to what it applies... I roll to avoid attack, often..two times in a row to make some space between me and the target... i also often do attack rolls ( figured that people least expect this, especially if i make an r2 attack and miss, on purpose, and roll into them and attack from roll )...i also tend to roll to the side of a target sometimes, when there is not attack, to get into better position ( followed by attack from roll.. or r1 or r2 attack depending on how much stamina i have and what is the r2 for that weapon, claymore or astora greatsword r2 for example but not dragonslayers axe or spiked hammer r2 because they slow... )...because it seems to me that you cover more ground with a roll... is any of that panic rolling, what are the alternatives ? Hopefully the game will not die down soon... because pvp is fun.. and in elden ring there will not be pvp for players like me, i dont do co-op...never have...and as i figured invasions will only be possible if somebody is in co-op :P
Hey thanks for watching and glad you're having fun. BTW 117 is not at all too high for invasions. If you're invading at that SL, I recommend going to 125, since that is the meta where a lot of players play. Regarding panic rolling, panic rolling just means rolling when you think the other player might attack. What you should try to do is to reaction roll - that means only rolling when you see the attack coming. Otherwise, you are at risk of getting roll caught. It's not always possible to reaction roll due to the number of players you are fighting, and your camera, but it should be your general goal. Rolling twice to avoid phantom range is fine, but don't roll twice unless you really need to.
Nice video and i like the way you talk but back to the topic let´s be honest. Two ways to git gud. 1. equip straight sword and start abusing the running attack. 2. equip ugs and press r1. the game is trying to focus on a more realistic way of fighting mechanics and the best players are the ones who are able to abuse the mechanics in the most unrealistic way like weapon and ring swaps or running attack abuse.
Running attacks are overrated too - if you try too many of those you will easily get outspaced and crushed. I assume here you are talking about duels, not invasions.
@@iamamish "outspaced and crushed" thats exactly what the running attack does. you run a figure 8, bait the opponent and attack. patch put the damn running attack and 80% of players are helpless. i dont think that miyazaki thought of figure 8 running idiots spamming xbow, running away and attack, spamming xbow, running away attack. spamm...
@@iamamish oh yeah? is it so? tell me what does the "good player" do against this?. They start running. You can only counter the running attack with a RUNNING ATTACK and running the figure 8 pattern.
I hate Ganks because there's rarely anything apart from spacial awareness to be learnt from fighting them. I repeatedly smashed this one guy's gank in the Woods yesterday and after the 3rd-4th time of me killing his squad and him he just disconnected after he died and when I invaded him again 😂
As someone who has been playing these games since the beginning. I have a few tips.... 1. Glitch the fuck out of the game. Be a piece of shit and spam every glitch possible. (Seriously don't, I hate it. You'll win, but not because of skill) 2. LAG. Lag is king. If your internet is good, make it bad and then you'll win cuz you can hit them, but they can't hit you. 😑 3. ALT + F4......
If the menu mechanics of Elden Ring enable anything like the hardswap meta of DS3, then every single new player to Elden Ring is going to have a very hard time at PVP against the hollow masters of DS3
The saddest truth to this video is as he put it, people "hanging up the spurs". In a few months we'll see next generation consoles, and great releases like Elden Ring and Demon Souls remake....but spending over $500 to play a game is ridiculous, and it's sad people chuck in the garbage games like dark souls and bloodborne along with their consoles because they're no longer current.
@@primary_magic1227 It's such a unique and Lovecraftian inspired game. Love the atmosphere, gore, and skill required to play. Enjoy it, and hopefully there will be a sequel or prequel to this.
@@j.p.burrowes1343 Yeah, I agree with you. I know that Dark Souls 2 is labor intensive and mentally grueling game to play with over 40 bosses. But, it's the tedious, challenging parts of these games that have people return and make another character for fun or to be O.P. What other options do we have? 1st person shooters, a hand with a gun copy and paste game; or 3rd person action games where you go through story mode and can't customize your character.
@@hollowman3227 That is 2 games everyone of us is looking forward too, especially Demon Souls for me. Looks so badass! Haven't seen or heard much lately about Elden Ring, people are wondering what it even will look or play like.
Yeah, you can parry the WA, but you have to be careful because if you trade like I did, the hitstun is enough that you won't be able to take the riposte. I only was able to do it because I was right on top of the other player.
I don't recommend too much of watching G9 because he is arrogant and he is cheating with glitches. I'm sure he has tge skill to take them on without glitching and as someone who has huge impact on community he does it bad.
That boss shouldn't have given you a list of 25 things he thought you were doing wrong. It's great that you asked for feedback, but a good supervisor shouldn't give out a list like that. If they think there's something you need to improve one, just say one or two general things and also recognize what they are doing right. Most people are not going to take it as well as you did. That person is a dick.
Just happened upon this video.I'm not trying to be TOO rude but do you really think you're good when all you do is dual wield try-hard weapons and parry? I guess I'm just annoyed with you because I find this kind of player the most annoying to play against - Dual wielding straight swords is incredibly try-hard and it just looks ridiculous. I wouldn't mind going a few rounds with you if you play on PS4. Check out some replays I've uploaded, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
BTW if you want some duels, send me a friend request - 'iamamish' on PS4. Just please include a note giving me the context of why you're adding me. Thanks!
No, there is a difference between playing and practicing. Sure, when you first start out in PvP, you'll improve naturally just from playing. But, you'll eventually reach a point where simply playing won't make you any better. You have to stop and focus and decide where your weaknesses are, and work to improve them. That's true of anything in life at which I've ever tried to be improve.
how i got good was lure invaders and fight them and imporve on my weaknesses it better to experience pvp the whole time than study a youtuber that you enjoy you should just enjoy watching their content instead of doing homework that shit is for school now thats a life lesson
Watching g9 will teach you: How to abuse every glitch in the game, hardswapping to gundyrs, perserverence spamm, pressing r2 with the claymore and abusing the broken hitbox. Yeah, kinda disagree on that one with you
I think it is sometimes easy for players to watch JeeNiNe and think as you do. For sure, he uses some of those tools (though I'm not sure what you mean by 'abusing the broken hitbox'). However, JeeNiNe is first and foremost the best fundamental player around, even without the tools you've mentioned. Have you ever watched his duel streams? Watch his spacing, when he chooses to attack, how he manages his camera, and when he chooses to pressure. You can learn a ton from that.
I haven't fought G9, but I've fought players near his level. It looks really different to how it feels. I can say with absolute certainty that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Edit: I think your point about playing with a lot of setups has another truth.
Damnit
I completely agree - playing with great weapons is what really lets your skills shine IMO
real good point here SIlly

I think most people who say "I don't use good weapons, I use lower tier cool weapons" are just ppl who are scared of their losses and don't want to deal with it. If you use the absolute best equipment, did everything you knew and you still lost, there is no other way to look at it. You just failed to live upto the situation. But if you use lower tier weapons and you lost, you can always justify that you weren't really 100% trying to win anyway, and if you really really wished, you could have won. Like Richard Feynman said "The first principle is that you must not fool yourself - and you are the easiest person to fool"
Very nice of you doing this type of vid for new players, most of us including myself they forget about this and take many things for granted
I was trying to think of things to help you out Pepp - I didn't want to say it directly but I guess now the cat is out of the bag :P
You can't leave us Amish! We're nothing without everyone's favorite ds3 coach😛
Im gonna miss that voice. Amish didn't only give good advice and tips but also taught me how to find ways to improve by myself.
We all know how much YOU need the help Sunset :)
Will be adding estoc or something to offhand.
spitfire5656 yup these days it’s really impossible to land them consistently. Surprise swap parries are pretty much the way to go these days.
Appreciate the advice, but at this point I'm ok with being a C+ invader. Part time bad red man. Elden Ring when?
Yeah and similarly, I have decided I have to be OK w/ being a B+ player. I'd love to be better than that, but I can't afford to spend the time that would be necessary.

But.. At a cost.. It's been YEARS! since release date! I'm talking hours, and countless ds3 reddits and wiki pages..
Any A+ or S rank players out here?
@@joshuasuarez2370 S+ here. My Dark Sword has transcended reality and now corrupts save files at the slightest touch
Cheers!
Sass Master always great to read that, thanks!
We have been blessed with another video
Best tip: Only invest in vigor.
99 vigor meta
You're meming but yes, until you have 30-35 vigor the only thing you should level up is vigor, it is by far the stat with the most gains on investment and not dying is critically more import than dealing more damage, even if you're just harrassing with a crossbow you're better red than dead, or something
Hey amish. Its good to see you upload a new video. I took a break from DS3 for a while this year, for pretty common reasons. It's actually fun watching G9 again and having to git gud, again.
Hope you're doing well with the new job, and staying safe!
Are you playing again? I really enjoy his streams, I always learn a lot.

It's alote harder these days gank squads consists of player that got bored of invading and on average will have atleast 700hrs in game 🙁

Amen!
I recomend everyone at least learn to ring hardswap its just so quick to get down and makes you probably 20-30% stronger
yeah i can do it but not quickly, and just haven't had time to really work at it.
Such a horrible surprise thinking your free estus delivery is here and then being turned inside out by a blue
Muhuhahahaha
I’ve always played a lot in the menu to swap weapons mid fight since 2018 at least. Not many people did that back then, now it’s a lot more frequent to see
Yeah general weapon swapping has been around for a while, but the super situational quick hard swap is relatively new. There has always been a group of players (like Gnampf) who have been doing it for a long time, but I think JeeNiNe really demonstrated the utility of quick swapping for people who weren't just crit fishing.
Can't wait for your content about Elden Ring techs! Don't tell me you don't see it

Guys I think invasions are broken. Almost every invasion I get a connection error for some reason.
Yeah as a new player the unlocked people backstabbing me is so frustrating so I tried it and just lol I can’t

@@iamamish it is! i don't do it at meta, but mid-level. it can be interesting to see how invasions are going for other people. sometimes you might find a way to cuck the home team (vow, for example), kill a greify invader, or sacrifice yourself to give the red some estus.
also the blue sentinels phantom color is 😍
@@rahtsnake144 Ha, yes! I have frequently thrown myself over a cliff to give the good guys some Free Estus
You really made me think to go back to the game. I am going to make new character, what's the best level for pvp 150 or 125?
Yeah unfortunately I have never played a caster build so I wouldn't be much help there.
Having full casting speed opens you up for a few true combos that are extremely important for stuff like demons scar (and the new heyselsoulsword) builds
iamamish oh yeah and Amish didn’t you use to have a crystal build with the xanthous headpiece a few years ago?
@@lepistanuda thanks bro, great tips. i've definitely been guilty of spamming CBV lol, your advice really helps
Yeah at the point you're at, it's hard to improve without fighting really strong players, and there just aren't that many of them.
@@iamamish Indeed there are not, and well being "I wanna fight G9 " number 69420 is not really gonna do much, to really improve at this rate I would need to get in touch with someone and just play with them for very long periods of time.
Don't retire on me. At least not until demon souls or elden ring pvp is confirmed. Dark souls needs your content. GG
If so, how do i go about submitting an invasion?
keon wilson still undecided about viewer invasions. I may post something about it, glad to hear you’re improving!
Hey I recently started watching your videos and I wanted to ask you if you have a profile on soulsplanner? i would like to see the builds you use
I do - Google search of Soulsplanner and iamamish should bring it back. In general though my build making is a weakness and I’d advise looking to other players for build suggestions. ChaseTheBro is a good example. Good luck!
@@iamamish thanks
What does it mean to play rustically?
Rustic play means essentially the opposite of fishing/crits. Just fundamentals - spacing, timing, etc. It's the way most people play the game.
Dmn I need to watch my own invasions more often.
As a content creator you probably have seen enough of your own vids though, so it wouldn't work as well for you. Good to see you mate!
Currently on lv117 and i invade and am being invaded as i play... or just go have fun at pontif's, i know it is a bit too high for invasions..but i am on ng+ as i want to get all the achievements with this character will roll a new character soon.. XD
There are good advices here.. and i have a lot learn and practice still.. i cant parry, not even npc-s..havent managed a single parry in DS3 yet.. and to practice spacing, very often i swing the air because the weapon is shorter than i expect it to be ... XD
One question thou...for author of video or anybody... what exactly is "panic rolling" i see this term mentioned quite often but i am not sure to what it applies...
Great video
Thanks!
@@iamamish "outspaced and crushed" thats exactly what the running attack does. you run a figure 8, bait the opponent and attack. patch put the damn running attack and 80% of players are helpless. i dont think that miyazaki thought of figure 8 running idiots spamming xbow, running away and attack, spamming xbow, running away attack. spamm...
@@pard2397 repeated running attacks against good players will get you smoked. It becomes very predictable and easy to space out and whiff punish.
@@iamamish oh yeah? is it so? tell me what does the "good player" do against this?. They start running. You can only counter the running attack with a RUNNING ATTACK and running the figure 8 pattern.
@@pard2397 💀
I hate Ganks because there's rarely anything apart from spacial awareness to be learnt from fighting them.
I repeatedly smashed this one guy's gank in the Woods yesterday and after the 3rd-4th time of me killing his squad and him he just disconnected after he died and when I invaded him again 😂
You should do a video on invaders who altF4
I've called them out from time to time, but in my experience, DC'ing invaders are really rare. Usually they'll just black crystal.
I need this soooo much ;)
Tip #1: Don't play invasions if you want to play pvp, play invasions ONLY if you *want* to fight ganks
Estoc offhand is so good
Hard to use anything else these days
You thinking of making other types of videos? I really like your commentary and the sound of your voice.
As someone who has been playing these games since the beginning. I have a few tips....
1. Glitch the fuck out of the game. Be a piece of shit and spam every glitch possible. (Seriously don't, I hate it. You'll win, but not because of skill)
2. LAG. Lag is king. If your internet is good, make it bad and then you'll win cuz you can hit them, but they can't hit you. 😑
3. ALT + F4......
If the menu mechanics of Elden Ring enable anything like the hardswap meta of DS3, then every single new player to Elden Ring is going to have a very hard time at PVP against the hollow masters of DS3
I've been wondering about that too- agree totally.
I'm hoping my 2000hrs will serve me well in elden ring. But judging from what fromsoftware did to us with sekiro maybee not 🙁
The saddest truth to this video is as he put it, people "hanging up the spurs". In a few months we'll see next generation consoles, and great releases like Elden Ring and Demon Souls remake....but spending over $500 to play a game is ridiculous, and it's sad people chuck in the garbage games like dark souls and bloodborne along with their consoles because they're no longer current.
Just got to play bloodborne for the first time last week and im absolutely loving it.
It will be sad to see this community die 😔 but it will be rekindled in the forms of deamon souls and elden ring 🔥
@@hollowman3227 That is 2 games everyone of us is looking forward too, especially Demon Souls for me. Looks so badass! Haven't seen or heard much lately about Elden Ring, people are wondering what it even will look or play like.
I love these games,, but invasions can be a royal pain in the arse
They add so much tho. They can be frustrating when you’re new though.
wish qy still made vids/ streamed, her builds and playstyle are so inspirational and fun to watch
No doubt, I see her around in a lot of streams though, so maybe we'll get more qy content.
Nooo.. you gonna leave us 💔☹️ im sad
🤩🤩🤩
8:31 do do
Here's another tip. Avoid players with bad connection
1:39 WTF?!!
Yeah, you can parry the WA, but you have to be careful because if you trade like I did, the hitstun is enough that you won't be able to take the riposte. I only was able to do it because I was right on top of the other player.
@@iamamish i never knew that. I just might give someone a little scare the next time i see them using this weapon
Come back
I don't recommend too much of watching G9 because he is arrogant and he is cheating with glitches. I'm sure he has tge skill to take them on without glitching and as someone who has huge impact on community he does it bad.
I wish elder rings will not have that hard swaping
I think it can be too powerful in some cases, and it could use a bit of balancing, but I like the mechanic overall.
That’s an interesting point. There are probably better ways to have handled it.
Aside from the facts that I don't duel-wield straight swords, nor parry very often, your critique is very much on-point.
BTW if you want some duels, send me a friend request - 'iamamish' on PS4. Just please include a note giving me the context of why you're adding me. Thanks!
ayy
If you leave Dark souls then for the first time time ever the hatemail is justified.😁
git bak
I'm pretty early this time
Me too
What's fishjng
SyphonXR backstabs
if you want to git gud just play the damn game fucking hell
Yeah, kinda disagree on that one with you
Could you beat him though?
Lol
I think it is sometimes easy for players to watch JeeNiNe and think as you do. For sure, he uses some of those tools (though I'm not sure what you mean by 'abusing the broken hitbox'). However, JeeNiNe is first and foremost the best fundamental player around, even without the tools you've mentioned. Have you ever watched his duel streams? Watch his spacing, when he chooses to attack, how he manages his camera, and when he chooses to pressure. You can learn a ton from that.
I dont even watch g9 and i dont think he can unfairly abuse the thrusting attack from the claymore...
I haven't fought G9, but I've fought players near his level. It looks really different to how it feels. I can say with absolute certainty that you have no idea what you're talking about.
