KAYAK Jump Shooting GEESE While Catching HUGE Fish (Cast & Blast)

- Early goose season is in full swing here in Virginia, and after catching very few fish on our last river float I was eager to get back out in the kayaks to try jump shooting some more geese while fishing for smallmouth bass too. The goose hunting started out pretty hot with a few small flocks giving us good shooting opportunities and before long there were trophy sized smallmouth and some catfish being caught. The geese were more wary than the last time we floated, which was expected, but we still were able to cut into a couple big flocks. Thankfully no flipped kayaks on this one either. Hope you enjoy!

@@HokeOutdoors same here. Heading out tomorrow and hopefully hunting our river through the weekend. They keep changing the storms predicted so it’s a guess to how wet I’ll get lol. Last weekend was a torrential down pour but scratched off 2 geese.

Thanks brother! You're floating the same river as in this video? If so have you ever floated it before? I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you have been on this stretch beforehand since there's lots of rapids that can be tricky. You won't need a floating blind permit though.

Hoke would you ever offer to take someone on a guided hunt I’ve never been able to get a goose or mallard basically anything besides wood ducks I live in SC and it would be amazing to be able to go on one of these hunts

@@HokeOutdoors Pretty quiet. Been busy with coaching my son's soccer team, but have had some excellent dove hunts. Duck season starts on September 24th and then my main pursuit, pheasants, starts on October 8th.

Can you say which river? Looks like some of the bateau channels I've seen on the Staunton, but saw some features I didn't recognize so guessing it's somewhere else.
Just a bite of caution try not to reel against the drag when Fishin . Pump the fish up with rod then reel down to bring in the fish, this simple method works great on oversized fish !

On those flybys, how far are you leading can't judge gees for the life of me. Say tour first geese, how far out are they? Looks like you had a solid 10ft+.
Getting on field hunts doesn't really happen for me so I'm letting getting out exactly like you are.
Just depends on how close they are. Typically only leading them 1-3 bird lengths so 2-8ft at most

I love these videos, I'm purchasing a Discovery 119 here soon. Could you make a video about "how-to" float hunt? I would really appreciate if you include what vehicle you use, how you rig your kayak on it, how you would go about float hunting by yourself (where to park, can you row back upstream, etc.) I'd appreciate to know more about the nitty gritty of kayak hunting!
What time is day do you do the floats?
Typically during the morning, these geese don't go feed in fields so we can really float whenever

I just bought a new stoger m3000 shotgun, I'm wondering if I should clean it right away or break the gun in bit and then do the first cleaning. What should I do?
I would clean it first just to get everything clean
Don’t really think it matters as long as you don’t let it get to dirty, I’m bad about cleaning my gun a lot and don’t have issues just keep everything oiled
Where some of you float hunting the Susquehanna? I’d love to hear more about that. Live right next to it but never hunted it.
I would clean it right away and then shoot 1-2 boxes through it at clays to break it in
