I’ve been quite pleased with the Govee T2 with my 65”. But I think when my 85” shows up I’ll give this brand a try. Really seems to be super accurate and fast. I like that.
I really like this. A couple of years ago, I was thinking of buying a Philips OLED Ambilight Tv, which featured this tech. In the end I decided on a LG C1, as LG OLED TV's are so much better. Still, now at least I have the option of experiencing this feature, without having to buy any inferior brand of TV.
It's Christmas in July. All that was missing was the Griswold family getting tangled up in the LED strips. 🎶 Holiday Ro-o-o-oad 🎶
Nice video man! I used to have an Ambilight HDTV, but since OLED I switched to LG. This might be a nice addition to the IQ
I was surprised but how good it was in certain games, really added to the impact. Such as Tetris, Nex Machina and even some retro titles I think due to the low resolution this high single colour across many pixels.
Looks like it could be fun.
One thing I haven't managed to see yet is one of these running on a space game, so mainly pure black but I wanted to see if it replicates fast firing lasers flashing. Or the Millenium Falcon warping scene for example with the strobe effect.
Does this work with surround sound systems? For instance, I currently run all of my consoles through the HDMI ports on the sound bar for 7.1 Nakamichi Shockwafe Pro. TIA!
Great review! I had no idea these devices were a thing. If I had a nicer screen, I'd certainly consider picking one up, but I feel it might be a little OTT for a 4 year old monitor 😅.
Ha ha, yes indeedy, this really only works on Large screens and I would say 50" upwards is really the level it works from, thanks for watching.
I remember years ago when companies were trying to use projection to achieve this type of function. It obviously had higher fidelity since it was an actual projected extension of the image, but it was too expensive and too cumbersome.
This seems mostly like a neat party trick; however, it would be fun when watching big sporting events like the Super Bowl. Does it support using the dynamic function of the LEDs when using an antenna?
I could see this being fun to use in neon filled games like Cyberpunk, but I wouldn’t see myself using it a bunch when it’s just my wife and me. It might be good for people that host movie nights and parties.
Damn... That VRR-problem is a deal breaker :(
Vital when VRR is being used for extra game modes on something like the PS5. They can't get the HDMI pass-through to be fully compliant and they charge THAT price? Plus, while NX Gamer was handling the main box unit, the light weight and overall cheap plastic flimsiness was very evident from those tell-tale sounds coming from it when it was tapped with a HDMI cable connector. Not sure I'd trust it connected to all my expensive equipment.
The predecessor already had this problem and that alone should be a reason not to advertise this device if they couldn't fix it...
Hdr doesn't work properly either
There is a pro version of this being shipped on Nov 26th that supports vrr and ALLM, I have e it preordered, however it only has 3 hdmi inputs instead of 4 like this one
Can you use windows screen mirroring or an hdmi splitter to get around the VRR issue.
Does airplay work on this if so what do you use? Like chromecast or what if so which one? Because I was askin a different reviewer he said airplay didn’t work because the app doesn’t support airplay, he also said it doesn’t work with chromecast bc it’ll have to pass through the sync box..
How or will this system work through a Roku stick or Firestick? So when I switch between Netflix, Prime, Hulu etc, will the system work?
Great review! This may be a noob question but if I have all my equipment going to a soundbar than to my tv via earc how would I set this up?
If your soundbat uses Bluetooth, use that. If otherwise feed from soundbar between TV first and check no affect. I have ran it though a Xbox to PS5 via pass through and it still works. But I could be sure on your set-up if no impact without testing/knowing more.
@@NXGamer so you're saying to hook up the lytmi to the soundbars bluetooth?
I have the goove t2 and this looks great since it doesn’t need a camera. But I should wait for the goove hdmi box since I have most of their lights
i would wait,i have the T2 and lytmi fantasy 3 and the color looks better on the t2. lytmi is washed out and also hdr is messed up so red shows as orange half the time
@@HoodRed69 thank you!! That’s what I had figured
Only thing I wish could be changed is the ability to use the TVs built in features with it.
What TV do you have? I've been wanting to buy one for my ps5 and I simply can't decide which one
I have attached this to my LG C1 OLED screen, a good match I think.
Do the connectors for the bends/corners come in the box?
Yes, all included as one piece with the sticky pads which are ok but not the best.
that REALLY does seem to be the BEST VERSION of this..... I actually got one for my PC and it used software and a usb connected breakout box that connected the lights and barrel-jack power.... I returned it 2 days later :/ - It was SUPPOSED TO get the overall color of the 4 quadrants of the screen to give you an 'ambient feel' to your games and movies, but only from your PC (which is perfect for me because I never play my PS4 Pro and my games. movies, and TV all come from my computer... So I thought it would be cool effect.... WELL... it HARDLY EVER got the 'overall' color of each quadrant right (say in the bottom right quadrant there was all light brown dirt with a small amount of dark green grass blades in the top left corner of that quadrant... well because it was DARK green that would cause the brightness of the LEDs to go down and it would mix in that small amount of green with the light brown and create a dark brown that was fairly dim - it looked NOTHING LIKE ANY BIT OF WHAT WAS ON THAT PART OF THE SCREEN!!! - IT WAS AWFUL!!!! ) And the software didn't have any settings to change the way it looked..... PLUS there was a HUGE amount of LAG between the screen changing and the LEDs changing..... So I just returned it and got my $70 back
- - Now the Lytmi Fantasy 3 looks AMAZING!!!! It is doing EVERYTHING that I was expecting from that over priced garbage I tried like 3 years ago. So THANK YOU for restoring my hope in this tech... I really did think it was going to add SO MUCH MORE to the experience that could only be achieved previously by parking your butt less than 18 inches from the screen LOL!! - AND I think that depending on how some people have their screen set up in the room, it could really add that extra bit to make you feel like you're there in the movie with the actors.. ( kinda like how adding wind and smells to some amusement rides at just the right levels go unnoticed until you're told they were there... and that's when you realize that you had forgotten that you were even watching a screen, or on a ride...) So I'm gonna pick this up as soon as my finances allow!! THANK YOU NXG!!!!! If I had just seen this product in an advert, or suggested on Amazon or somewhere, or even on a shelf in the electronics section of Walmart, I would have kept on strolling and not given it a second thought. All because I had such lackluster experience with this tech in the past... (even when I saw a well-known computer tech brand had incorporated this tech into the back of one of their monitors I figured it was just the same cheap gimmick) - But the way they used the EDGE of the screen to grab the color from is how it SHOULD be done... AND the fact that they give you the option to try other ways of deriving the light from the signal... well HOT DAYUM I'M SOLD!!!!! :D
Vvr AND HDR don't WORK correctly...
Does anyone know if this sync box supports 1440p?
I’ve heard it doesn’t do well with hdr content when they fix this issue I might get it🤞
It does work, and I had no issues with my OLED but I am sure it may differ on a set-up by set-up basis.
Couldn’t get it to work with google voice.
Miss me with this thing by a country mile.
Yeah, I was of the same opinion and even though I would not class myself as transformed, I certainly can see the benefits it offers in many titles.
What's the name of the game from 10:00 - 10:15?
Nex Machina :)
Looks good but until VRR is working properly it's a no from me.
Not really a fan of this type of bias lightning.
If u playing with HDR ideally u should be in a close to dark room. If u need bias lighting it should really be d65 white light.
Very happy with my $6 Walmart 5’ strip with remote .
We don’t care broke boy
Decent effort but still not as accurate as the actual Philips tvs with the leds built into the tv frame.
I had both predecessors... Total rubbish because lytmi lied to get more customers...
Lytmi already claimed full 2.1 support on the Gen2 device, but as said before... No support for vrr (sometimes the image goes black for a second to resync) and HDR didn't render the colors correctly.
This retrofit solution is only good for people who watch movies but not for gamers... Bought a Philips Oled with Gen2 Ambilight...
Oh and you can pretty much forget support because a new box will appear in a year and then the old one will be dropped
Even in the video you can see that red doesn't seem to be displayed correctly.
Hello
Ive had this on my Philips OLED since 2019 - I like it but this box is a waste of electricity
I like the way you completely contradicted yourself there.
Seems like hyperion and hacked webos still the cheapest and best solution.
Cheap? Yes... Best? No...
@@feldartillerie1620 it support vrr, doesn't require camera. Why isn't it the best solution?
@@maybebutwhatever I had both predecessors and they also said full support for hdmi 2.1 and vrr didn't work properly. It is also said here in the video!
On my PS5 the picture sometimes went black for 1 second to re-sync...
@@feldartillerie1620 what predecessors? Hyperion is a software for hacked WebOS :)
