    I use a Lytmi as a bias light on my tv, it's been GREAT. No experience on a computer setup.

    I use the Gradient Light strip from Philips Hue. Works good, but expensive as you need to buy the strip and box apart from each other

    FIRST! :D Thanks for all the content Karl! I use the playseat I built with your advice and modifications all the time and have turned others onto your vids to do the same. You've helped many people over here in the States across the pond build reasonably priced setups!

    19:54 I had a Philips Ambilight TV for 13onths up to December last year 2022 (the screen quit working suddenly a week before Christmas.) And a good few times there was lag between what's on screen and what the lights done. What happened a lot was after a dark scene there was a second or two delay in that area of lights before they came on sgain

    This is a pretty big step because Ive been using a pi zero for years now but my splitter only does 4k at 60hz. the 120 is the key here!

      I can tell you the govee tv immersion kit is way better. Ihave it on my tv and my computer and it’s way better than what Karl is showing

    Seems like the cockpit camera really doesn't suit it due to putting a(n essentially) static frame around a lot of the image. Although even the open side didn't react as much as I was expecting, so maybe it's only going to have a neat effect when you go through tunnels. Could see it being neat for the whole room to darken and lighten as you go in and come out.
    The ceiling strips Will from Boosted Media made a while ago seemed to have more effect, but were also more hassle to set up.
    A proper solution probably needs support writing into the game (it could sample the colors above and to the sides of you, for example), but that'll never happen. Even RGB keyboards have very limited support in games and they're a lot more common than this will ever be. Still too niche and everything is proprietary (although god knows why as all the proprietary RGB software is a detriment to the experience of using the products, lol... like Ubisoft, EA and Epic with their launchers nobody wants anything to do with, thinking they're somehow "adding value").
    That said, it does look pretty cool for video content. Much more neat than I was expecting. I might find it too distracting though.

    I really thought this was going to like Boosted Media's setup.

    LYTMI announced a new kit last week that supports HDMI 2.1. You can pre-order it now
    The new sync box has multiple HDMI inputs.

    • @CharlySayz
      @CharlySayz ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually pre-ordered today :)

    • @Steve30x
      @Steve30x ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CharlySayz I got this one Karl got. I bought a cheap 4K hdmi switch so that I can have all my equipment going into it.
      The one reviewed here is very good in my opinion. It's not Philips Ambilight good but it's the best I've used. I've tried five different Ambilight kits including the govee immersion kit and none of them are even remotely as good as the Lytmi kit.
      The Lytmi kit would be about 80% as good as the Philips Ambilight that was on the Philips TV I had. Everything else I tried would be 40% or less if what the Philips Ambilight was.
      I don't know what their new kit is like to use but I know it has much more LEDs on the light strips.
      The reason why I wouldn't rate the kit I have higher is because it's lacking a colour saturation setting because the colour saturation is a bit high with the kit. Also it can't match the natural setting of the Philips Ambilight.
      The Philips TV I had quit giving an image output a week before Christmas last year 2022 so I had to buy a TV real fast as I only have one TV in my house. Do with the little money I had I bought the cheapest 50" LG TV I could get in a local store.
      I kind of regret not holding on to the Philips TV and get it fixed under warranty though because it had a three year warranty and I only had it 13 months.
      Anyway I just wanted to give my reason why I tested five different Ambilight kits. I bought four of them separately over the last two months. I
      have the govee kit with about three years and that was the first one I tested. The other four cost between €70 - €130.
      The last kit I got before the Lytmi was absolutely a waste of money. It had no settings of any kind and 35% of the LEDs only output white light.
      To be honest I spent so much on the kits I would have bought a Philips Ambilight kit 😂
      But the Lytmi kit is very good. I haven't been paid by lytmi , they didn't tell me what to say and I spent my own money on the kit.

      @@CharlySayz my kitchen t doesn't have colour matching lag / delay like I see on the video review here though. Mine matches what's shown on screen perfectly.

      @@Steve30x I have been looking for some time for my livingroom as I got a new 4k TV in Dec. It's on a plain white wall so the effect would be better. I looked at all the different ones available and even made up my own using an ST32 and WLED. Was about to get a Govee kit till I saw the new Lytmi 2.1 version. It seems to have everything I need for movies and gaming so I pre ordered. Hopefully not an expensive mistake 😂🙈. Although compared to the others it's not too bad actually 😁

    • @Steve30x
      @Steve30x ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CharlySayz the govee T2 and T1 kits are nothing compared to the Lytmi kit. I have the Govee T1 which used to be called the Immersion 2.0 kit and it can't hold a candle to the Lytmi kit.
      The reason why I bought the Lytmi kit two weeks ago is because they had a st Patrick's sale and it was 40% off. So I got the kit + delivery for just over €150. Before the sale it would have cost €227 before delivery.
      But I have it on a 50" TV do I had to be creative on how to get the led strips to fit my TV 😂. So I'm going to try to get a 55" TV later in the year but it won't be an LG (🤮🤢🤮) TV again.

  • @Steve30x
    @Steve30x ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The new LYTMI fantasy 3 will support 4K 120Hz with HDR

    • @KarlGosling

      They should have waited and sent me that then! lol

    • @Steve30x
      @Steve30x ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KarlGosling my problem with the kit you have and the the new one is they only officially support 55"+ TVs. My TV is 50" so if I was to buy the kit I would have to bend the light strips in the middle to fit on the back of my TV. They used to have a kit that you can cut the light strips (they used two strips before) to fit your TV but they don't do that anymore.
      I'm going to save and buy another Philips Ambilight TV later this year though. I'm using a chrap LG TV right now because I had no other choice to buy a cheap TV a week before Christmas last year after my Philips TV suddenly quit outputting an image for no reason.

      @Steve30x ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KarlGosling maybe if you talk nice enough to them they might send you the new one. You can send that one you have to me then 😂.
      I'm using a Govee immersion kit 3.0 at the moment and it's not much good but it does the job for now.

    I have tried Govee and Philips Hue back lights, they all seem like gimicks. i feeel a proper picture calibration expert would tell you not too back light your tv. it would ruin your tv's hdr's effect.

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I initially found it distracting but now after a month or so of use I really like it!
      Interesting point but I don't think it shouldn't effect the HDR as if it's a dark scene then they will be off, you may get a little light if there's something bright at the edges but that is how the film was produced... you can also of course turn the brightness down for "Movie" mode if you did think it was washing things out.
      I'm quite anal about my audio and visual experince so this would defineitly be off if I thought it degraded my viewing experince!
