    Hi Sanja! I am binging your channel lately and am currently obtaining a Level 3 qualification in People practice through the CIPD. I would love to hear your take on the CIPD Level 3 and Level 7 and maybe any tips or useful things you wish you knew before you started the courses. Not sure if this is the kind of content that you would like to explore, but as many people are looking to move to HR roles and taking those courses, it might be helpful for many. Thanks once again for the content and have a nice weekend!

      Hi Gabriel, it’s great to hear you find my videos valuable. That has always been my intent. I actually did Level 3 and then level 7. I skipped 5. I personally don’t think they are essential to get into HR. Learning on the job is the best. However, I wanted to have level 3 on my CV at the time as when I was doing it, I was an employment paralegal. I transitioned from law to HR in 2012. I can definitely give you some tips as to what I did and what worked for me. Send me an email to info@focusyourself.co.uk

    Hello! Thank you so much for this video. It was great to learn all the pointers so quickly. I am a practising counselling psychologist in India with 1 year of work experience. Is a masters in HRM in UK followed by work a good way to pursue HR career?

    • @SanjaWilliams
      @SanjaWilliams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Puja. Hope you are well. Great education and experience so far. I love psychology and HR are a good combination. I am aware that many people from India secure loans to study masters in HR in the UK so that's option for you. Do you see yourself living and working in India or UK?
      My view on masters degrees is that it does look great on your CV. You will also feel more comfortable with and additional HR knowledge and be able to work in HR with some understanding in any country.

    Hey
    I am planning to Pursue, MSC in HR next year in UK. Can you help me understand how the Job Market is specially for International students.
    Would it be a wise decision to study in UK, are there enough internships & jobs after graduation.
    I do have 3 years of experience
    1st year into Internships
    2nd year as a trainee
    & 3rd year as a Full time HR Generalist with an agency

      @@pritikulkarni4117 Hi Priti, hope you are well. When you study here on an international visa, you can work part time 20h a week and then stay up to 2 years without sponsorship (perhaps you could find a 2 year fixed term role) You then need to find a sponsor to stay. Job market is always competitive but with a good strategy and plan, it’s possible. Many want permanent jobs so your immediate situation will perhaps put you in a better position. Hope this helps.

    Hi, sanja! I'm a law graduate as well and I'm planning to change my career to HR. I just wanted to know which qualification would you recommend MSC in HR or MBA in HR?

    • @SanjaWilliams
      @SanjaWilliams  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, if you are in England you can simply do level 7 CIPD which is a post grad diploma in HR. I picked HR Management rather than HR Learning and Development one.
      If keen to do a masters, would suggest you pick MSc in HR as it’s probably cheaper and it will look amazing on your CV. Plus make sure it’s CIPD accredited if in England.
      MBAs tends to be super expensive and for experienced people who have a lot of experience as they analyse organisations on a deeper level which you may find overwhelming if you don’t have relevant work experience to relate to. This is at least my view.

    Hello Sanja thank you for a detailed explanation, I have completed my bachelor's in management with an HR specialization in India, and I'm planning to do a master's in HR in the UK/Ireland. I wanted to ask you, what is the employment ratio after a master's in the UK? How much a Human Resources graduate will earn? Can a person have a decent living with that salary package? because as you already know, many students are taking an education loan. And after completion of my master's, my biggest concern will be finding a job and clearing that loan amount.

    • @SanjaWilliams
      @SanjaWilliams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Parth, it is a difficult one. I also don't like any loans, let alone loans to educate yourself. I think for you who is in India, if you need a visa to work and live in the UK, this is one way to get here, study and work. I understand you can work up to 20h a week while you study and then after graduation you don't need a sponsor and can work up to 2 years. After 2 years you will need to secure a sponsor and stay. I am not an immigration expert, however, I have heard this from others who live in India and see this as one way to come to the UK. In terms of salaries, this will depend, however, starting salaries for HR professionals are in the region of £20-30k and this goes up as you change jobs/organisations etc you can calculate your net pay on this website to give you an idea of what salary you need to secure to pay off your loan and live here - www.thesalarycalculator.co.uk/salary.php
      London is known to pay more, however, the cost of living there is even higher so your salary does get eaten up by the living costs there. I would explore other cities across the UK too.
      Let me know if you have any further queries.

      Hello. Thank you for subscribing to my channel.
      How exciting you are moving to the UK. With a qualification in HR and experience you won't struggle to get shortlisted for job interviews. Make sure your CV is adapted to UK applications, focus on your high level statement.
      For example, I am an experienced HR professional with a degree in HR and over 5 years of experience in HR roles in [list sectors/industries you have worked in, for example engineering, IT, healthcare, hospitality etc]. My key skills are [insert key skills]. Then list your work experience and education. Use a simple word document, nothing fancy.
      LinkedIn is very popular in the UK. All of my roles I have found through LinkedIn.

I worked as a manager in a shop for 5 years where I managed all stages of employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, retention, development, off-boarding). I managed all data and kept records on HCM system including absences, performance reviews and recorded conversation outcomes. What are your thoughts? Do you think by skipping level 3 I would miss out on a lot of base knowledge?

      Hello. If I was in your shoes, I would simply focus on creating a CV that lists my transferable and technical skills with key achievements that are relevant to each job I apply to. I would tweak my CV to each job application I see, especially if it the one I would like be shortlisted for. If you want to work in HR, then go for HR manager roles, try HR advisers, junior HR business partners, wider HR roles such as HR shared services, HR operations etc once you get in, it easier to move internally vs external candidates. Get up to speed with the UAE employment law, perhaps attend a few free webinars. I suspect with your UK experience, you will not struggle to get shortlisted. Hello. It sounds great. You can work as a student here up to 20h a week but when you finish you can then work full time but you have to apply to stay if you have an Indian passport and need a visa to live and work here. I believe there is a way now that allows you to stay up to 2 years post studies and then you can apply for a residency. I am not an immigration adviser but I believe this to be the case from other people I talked to from India in the U.K. You shouldn’t struggle to land a job in HR even before you complete your MBA. Hi Angela, you have picked the great topics to study. I love both law and sociology. Yes I think it’s a good idea to get work experience in HR rather than to do an HR degree as with law you have a bit more choice should you decide down the line to be a lawyer. You could do masters in HR and Business later on too. As I mentioned in my video there are so many ways to move into HR and you don’t need an HR degree. I also have a law degree, I worked as an employment paralegal for a number of years and then used this knowledge to transition to HR and it worked as an option. Happy to share more if you have more queries. Best wishes. Sanja

      @@angela6408 Hi Angela, yes of course. As you can also do additional HR courses on the side if need or a masters in HR later on. There is no need to study HR to be honest. Another combination you could explore, is psychology and law. Psychology is really relevant to HR, and there is so much occupational psychologists can do and develop for organisation, from assessment tools to personalised/team reports, behavioural framework etc. I do love social anthropology too as it is relevant to diversity and inclusion and how organisations include people and communities and ensure they are diverse, representative of communities they work in. You are onto good choices Angela, no worries at all. I am happy to answer more and be a bit of mentor if you need it.

      Hi Miriam. Thank you for your comment and watching the video. I am not an immigration adviser so I am limited on what I can advise you on. I also don’t think there is a shortage of HR professionals in the U.K. I am aware that many people from India secure masters loans to study in the U.K. I believe you can work part time form up to 20h a week.
      Please check all latest info on Home Office Website as they now have a points based system in place.

      Hi Lineen, hope you are well. I would sort out your visa first. However as you trying to do it, ensure you research where would you like, locations, and in terms of your CV, I would create a U.K. CV that clearly explains your experience, knowledge, education and what you are looking for. I would look at HR entry routes (sudu as apprenticeship roles as well) and I would focus on large sector organisations. Another alternative is to enter via a business operations role into a large sector organisation and then secure an internal move to HR. Hope this helps to get you thinking and planning. HR assistant level roles as entry level roles are popular for many categories - students, graduates, school leavers etc and you are going for a role that probably attracts a lot of applicants. I would suggest that you target your search by focusing on industries and sectors you would like to work in. Also, your CV probably needs reviewing to ensure it stands out. Hi Mahbuba, hope you are well. I would encourage you to apply for HR graduate schemes in the UK if you are keen to stay and eligible to stay/work. You will get a lot of value and return on investment from all your degrees this way.
      Another option is to consider applying for consultant roles with major consultancies, people division. Their structure is consultant (aimed at graduates), senior consultant, manager, senior manager, director and partner.
      Another option is to directly apply for HR assistant/advisor roles but I do suggest you join a larger organisation as you have better chances of promotion internally.
      Are you active on LinkedIn at all?

    Hey sanja, this is smruti khemani
    I m currently studying BBA(hons) in HR from India.
    I am planning to gain good job experience in india for two years.
    Then i m planning for doing MBA from canada.
    Then i m planning to move to london.
    Would that be possible.
    And whats the difference between masters and post graduate diploma?

    • @SanjaWilliams
      @SanjaWilliams  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Smruti. Hope you are well. Sounds like you have a great plan. It’s always good to have a plan as it helps. Masters is better than post graduate diploma. Diploma is not a masters. You can complete level 7, post grad diploma but you have to do a few more modules to obtain a masters. Hope this helps.

      Hello, if you are already in the UK, you can work 20h a week. Check your visa, so look for part time jobs instead. See if there are any part time jobs at your Uni. Once you graduate, I understand people from India can stay for up to 2h without sponsorship. Are you already here? Please note I am not an immigration adviser.

      Hi Swati, thank you for watching and your comment.
      You will need a work visa to live and work in the UK. So if you can find a way to obtain a visa. I am not an immigration adviser so I cannot comment. It is best to start from Home Office website to start with your research in more detail - I have found 2 websites for you to start from. www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-india-agree-partnership-to-boost-work-visas-for-indian-nationals

      Hello. All good here. Thank you. How are you?! Sounds like you have fantastic experience. I am aware that many people from India apply to study a master’s course in the U.K. All prices should be on all universities websites. I understand that many people from India apply for a loan if no funds available. I would focus on London as how often do we have an opportunity to live, study and work in London. Your life experience also matters not just education. That’s what I would do. Hope this helps. If you ever wish to book a call with me, please do so here - www.focusyourself.co.uk/book-online
