    Hi there! Such a great video with some really helpful advice there. I’m currently an apprentice Business Administrator working for a social care company, but HR is where I would really like to be. I have already looked into ICS Learn and Level 3 CIPD qualifications, so hearing you mention them has reassured me that I am on the right track.
    The fact that you mentioned admin roles and apprenticeships was also really reassuring to me as well, of course, being an apprentice working towards an admin qualification that’s great to hear.
    So thank you for the advice, you have earned yourself a new subscriber 😁!

      Thanks for watching and for the feedback Tom! HR is for sure an option after some more general administrative work. Once you have finished your apprenticeship it may well be worth you looking into the level 3 or 5 CIPD, don’t overwhelm yourself with too much learning at once!

    I cannot explain to you how similar our stories are!
    I started in recruitment, hated the cold calling/sales aspect of it though… then I applied for a role I should have been filling too 🤣 and got it! Now I’ve been in HR for 6 years ✨

    Hi Penny! Came across your profile only today, how has your experience with ICS LEARN been? I'm looking at them as the CIPD provider. And, what's your take on foreign students taking the CIPD? Have you heard of anyone who got into HR in the UK from abroad? I have a 4 year experience.

    This may be a daft question, but what is a typical day working in HR?
    Currently have a BSc and MSc in Psychology and currently working as a therapist. Although, I want a complete change and HR is one of my options but I'm not sure if it is for me.

    Hi Penny! Please could you help 🙏🏻☺️ I want to start a career in HR and I’m not sure whether I should start with CIPD level 3, or if I have enough experience, go straight into CIPD level 5. I worked as a manager in a shop for 5 years where I managed all stages of employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, retention, development, off-boarding). I managed all data and kept records on HCM system including absences, performance reviews and recorded conversation outcomes. What are your thoughts? Do you think by skipping level 3 I would miss out on a lot of base knowledge?

    I would like to get a bachelor's degree in hr in the future, but for now I want to get an associates at a community college so I can get my foot in the door of more reputable companies. I've been back and forth on whether I should I get my associates in hr or office administration.
    I am a single mom with a one year old and I come from a poor family. I am tired of struggling financially and making minimum wage. I am from an island in the Caribbean and I'm looking to turn around my financial situation for me and my son.
    I would appreciate any advice given. Thanks!

      I got my associate’s degree in general studies at my cc which give me the chance to pick business classes, hr classes. I was able to land a job in HR at a women’s clinic. I’ll be getting a bachelors in the same but a minor in business.

    Hiya! I was wondering with your 6 months experience already how did you find the Level 3 CIPD course?
    I have been in HR for 1 year as HR admin and have the option of 3 or 5 but don’t want to waste money/time if it really is quite for ‘beginners’
    Thanks

      Thanks for watching Jessica! I think level 5 would make the most sense for you, it really gives you the edge on your CV and you will learn about the next steps, rather than what you are already doing. Good luck! 🙂

    Can I get into HR after doing a masters in psychology?
    Please answer

    • @roguemaster1224
      @roguemaster1224 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes definitely! You can get into HR even without a masters in psychology, but it may appeal to employers more - especially if you want to specialise in occupational psychology in HR.

    • @automonkey4285
      @automonkey4285 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@roguemaster1224 so it would be more appealing to the employer if I have a master's degree in psychology.
      So to become an HR rep can I get into it straight after the masters?
      Thanks for replying!!

    • @roguemaster1224
      @roguemaster1224 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@automonkey4285 I can't say based on personal experience (I'm hoping to do a HR masters then go into HR jobs too) but there are definitely a lot of entry HR jobs on the market that you can go for - and quite a few say that relevant degrees (business, psychology etc) are preferable. You can also get into graduate HR schemes (mentioned in the video) - but again these are all available without an absolute *need* for a masters.

      Absolutely yes! You need emotional intelligence to work in HR, so a psychology degree would be absolutely relevant!
