  • Here we see him with many of his lifters before the APF nationals, that was considered the biggest or clos to biggest nationals in the USA at the time. So you can say what you want, but tha fact that he produces 22 lifters of like 30 that qualify for the nationols is huge! In this video you will see a lot of the old westside lifters traning and do accessory exercise.
Westside Barbell is a world famous gym in the west side of Columbus. The trainer Louie Simmons has a unconventional training method called the Conjugate method. Be developed this method in the 80s based on russian training. In 1986 one of his lifters squted 1010 lbs / 458 kg, the heavyest squat ever!
For more about Louie Simmons and Westside barbell see:

@@tjcogger1974 even many elite lifters don’t do all of these variations. West side is just so specific. But you’re right, the basics are more than enough.

In my opinion, you should be doing some of this accesory work. To optimize gains and minimize injury. Theres a good reason why KneesOverTheToes guy does the some of this exercise like the nordic, sled push, and goodmornings.

There was an older guy I used to train with back in the day that ran into Louie at a later APF national meet. This was one after Louie was on the cover of the one magazine showing his tattoos. My buddy said to Louie “I’m sick of seeing you with your shirt off.” Louie replied in his nasal twang voice “Fuck you man”. 😂

I wish there has been TH-cam back when I was training hard and was also young. Now there is only hard training left. I followed Louie's advice back then and squat went from 190kg to 252.5kg (box squat to 33cm/12,99inch with basic squat suit and belt ) in 3 years (powerlifting as a hobby, no drugs, weight 100.1kg).
