It wasn't commentary on the existence of transgenders and people trying to take his words out of context to push an agenda he never would have agreed with is absolutely disgusting and disrespectful to his name. He was an incredibly kind person who would have treated any trans person with respect, and at most, curiosity. He would have tried to learn about them and the way they felt. Not judged them.

I had a SUPER conservative nanny growing up (I’m a teen) who would always talk about how much she loved mr rodgers and how Daniel tiger couldn’t compare lol

I grew up with this and never picked up that boys never grew up but girls did. LOL.
I miss this man gently pushing back at injustice (inviting a black police officer to put his feet in the same wading pool he was using)

I truly miss the days Mr. Rogers was on television each day! He was a pioneer in children’s programming and the values they needed to be successful adults. We need more Mr. Rogers in this world!

Daniel Tiger is a Fred Rogers Production and it has a lot of the same messaging. It is animated with the puppet characters from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. It is one of the only shows we put on for our toddler twins.

@@Dave0214 oh yes! My daughter loved Daniel Tiger when she was really little! When I discovered he was a Mr Rogers show, I was so happy! Sadly, she outgrew Daniel but I keep searching for similar content.

Mr Rogers genuinely understood and deeply cared about children, he says this not from a point of posturing or pressing an agenda but because he knew children would think about these things and needed guidance, lack of which results in the issues we're seeing today.

Don’t forget Mr. Rogers also had the first black AND openly gay recurring character in tv history. Given that gender identity politics weren’t even a thing that long ago i’d not be surprised at all if he doesn’t think this at all, any more after all Mr. Rogers loves everyone just like Christ.

Mr. Rogers would be very disappointed in you, Ben. You're not being the kind of person he knew you could be.
