gabe428 3K for this kayak puts it leaps and bounds ahead of competition. PA $3600 Titan $3300 I personally was stoked when I heard it was only 3 k and came with all the lights etc. I can understand your perspective though. We are getting away from traditional $1000- $1800 fishing yaks that's for sure. With that said there is a lot of great stuff coming out in that range as well. Great time to be a kayak fisherman with more options than ever before!
I can not wait to upgrade to a bigger more stable platform like this in the new future. Will certainly trailer mine, far to heavy to be lifting this thing on to the roof, but a small trailer would do the trick.
To entice more buyers, consider offering the following oem options: Lithium ion extended runtime battery, fishing tackle box to fit on rails for larger items, amas to increase stability in big water while fishing, a kayak stern flag with navigation light that would plug into kayak power system and a custom feelfree bimini. Looks like a kayak with great potential.
Very valid question. Imagine a stringer or third part livewell/fishbag cooler on deck. For the hungry fisherman maybe you eat the fish the go like sushi! Haha.
I want to see some solar charging capabilities. That way I can go on camping trips and recharge on the go. Hope a manufacturer does it soon or I might have to beat them to it via DIY...spoiler alert I already have a solution for my Bixpy to charge on the go.
There was a kayak demo in my area (Corpus Christi Tx.) and there was pretty much every brand and style of kayak available with exception to the Hobie line. The Darado was the one I was excited the most as far as trying out. It is extremely heavy!!!!! It is not a fast moving kayak by any means. Extremely stable with a lot of features...... but if you're planning on covering a large area of water you might want to consider something lighter. If your fishing a lake or pond I think it would be great. I fish salt water in the Gulf so I don't think it will work for me.
If the reviews of the overdrive system are as good as I expect they will be, I plan to get a Dorado as soon as they become available. I will also be interested in the 32" model when they are available.
I'm not at all sure that stern light meets the regs... my impression is that it needs to be higher than the bow lights (18"?) and have at least 180 degrees visibility.
I've been trying to find the perfect kayak build so I can purchase. I can always find something wrong with each one that I browsed. But this one right here is perfect. It is expensive, but if you were to set one up like this one you would probably spend more. Can't wait to see video of it in action.
I can mount a micro anchor on my lure 11.5, I can't see that being an option on the dorado. The micro anchor is a much more important feature for me than a motor or pedal drive, but then again I don't fish in the ocean. I would love those lights and battery box though!
Waited & Waited. But never came out like they said, Late Feb. LOL So I figured they have problem during production, so I when and spent my 3K + on a 2018 Hobie PA. And so glad I did. Sorry Feelfree Kept pushing back and everytime I called nobody would help me. Hobie Man Now
Might be a big loss for you. Nothing special about the Hobie and overpriced for less features. Dorado is released in June. The reviews and demos so far said are that this kayak is amazing
I’ve have a Lure 10 and 11.5 My next will be a PA or this Dorado if it ever gets released. My Hobie dealer has 2019 PAs in stock now. I really like the new Transducer setup on the 2019 PA....
East_Tex_Will I know! Talked to both Luther from Bonifide and Peter from Feelfree and both had no idea about the other boat. But both agreed that it was the best way to combine speed and stability.
Nice. The forward-most part of the bow by the handle resembles a shark to me. Maybe they should rename it. :) Liking the Feel Free designs. Just bought a new 11.5 Lure yesterday.
gwagb27 absolutely not. Any company's pedal driven kayaks are designed to fit only to there kayaks. Pedal drive systems are not interchangeable between kayaks belonging to other company's
charmnGUY yes, you would likely need to register if you add the optional motor to the pedals. However, if you didn’t register likely you wouldn’t get hassled because the motor isn’t obvious or noticeable. 🤫
How much does it weigh, w/o pedal/motor drive. I guess you can add a rod holder up front, & gaff, net, other rod in back. Do you have different colors, & what are your sizes, under 6’, weight about under 220.
True. Although I imagine that would hinder smooth operation in pedaling. I want to see MC4 solar cable charging. That way any solar panel on market today could charge battery on trips. I have 200w or flexible solar panels.
Shouldn’t be much longer. They have prostaff on them already testing them out. I hope to get on one soon and give everyone a third party review. The kayak looked amazing at iCAST.
I am hoping to purchase this Kayak in the Summer 2018 but I am confussed about the battery setup. The battery in the back that you say runs the lights etc. is extremely large compared to the one in the front that runs the motor. I want to know if I can buy a battery that will run the motor all day?
+gsppuffer or throw it in back of a truck with hitch extender. We have hauled larger kayaks with our short bed Honda truck and the hitch extender (see video). th-cam.com/video/ltI-xSwKE_o/w-d-xo.html
Are there specs on it yet? Length, Beam, weight (just the hull and with full motor drive system). Feb is when I'm buying a yak and this might just have to be in the running! Tho I wish the stern light was a 360 degree USCG light.
Hi we’re having a national kayak fishing tournament in mexico called IRON KAYAKER. We expect near 150 kayakers fishing for the tittle. You can find us by that name in facebook. Take a look we’ll be glad to announce your kayak
I am looking into the moken 12.5 from feel free. This video has made me have second thoughts. I wonder how much it will cost and what will the weight be on this eldorado.
KayakDIY I agree it’s an amazing boat. I just have to keep telling myself I made the right decision going with the old town. These videos aren’t helping lol.
**2018 FeelFree Dorado Kayak Pricing & Specs** Kayak Comes With Pedal Drive: $2999 Motor (Overdrive System): about $1300 more to add-on The Dorado comes in at 12-feet, 5 inches long, 38-inches wide, and weighs 100 pounds. Cathedral style Tri-Hull and rudder lead to great displacement, excellent tracking, and phenomenal stability! The motorized drive has a battery management LCD readout. Great vid. Kayak looks awesome! I'm a Hobie guy though this could make me switch. Just checked out your new store. Ordered some Railblaza rod holders and a new Raymarine fishfinder.

+HER COME THE MUSTAFA MUSTAFA I would think so. Manufacturers have to know that Australians are kayak fishing fanatics. It is a big market there. Know several Aussie Yak anglers.
Depends on kayak. With this kayak I would not buy it for fishing 3ft depth or less areas. Because in 3ft waters you can still have branches and obstacles which could damage prop drive. Pedal drives are not great for flats fishing. The best pedal kayak for fishing shallow water is Hobie. Their fin drives can run in shallower waters. Many paddle kayaks can run in 6 inches of water which no pedal kayak can do.
Now this is totally big time rocking Bad to the Bone + It's fantastic, amazingly awesome, the coolest, wonderful, & the greatest, 😱 what a way to do your fishing.i ❤ this big time I do
Right? I started looking into kayak fishing as an inexpensive way to get off the bank. There's nothing inexpensive about it if you buy new, even if you look at low end boats, and from all the stories of guys grinding through their hulls on boat ramps, I'm not really hip on buying second hand kayaks. And don't even get me started on the accessories.
This is obviously a high end kayak. When I worked at a local shop we sold fishing kayaks starting at $300 and up to $3,000. You don't have to spend a lot to get into the sport. I would say $500 minimum, $1,000 will get you a good boat and some accessories.
I spent $550 on my 10T kayak from Cabelas. Its about 80lbs and a bit difficult to get on to the roof rack, but I still manage to do so by myself. It has two rod holders behind the seat. Has a folding chair that mounts into the hull of the Kayak and is fairly comfortable to sit in for a few hours and is adjustable. Has a small dry storage between the legs, cup holder and rails for mounting various items to customize your sit up. I picked up a 3 .5 lb anchor with 25ft of line for anchoring and a decent paddle. She is a bit sluggish to paddle about and does not turn the fastest, but she gets the job done. I can fit all sorts of fishing gear and things ill need for my day out on the water pretty well. Can not stand in this kayak, far to unstable for that, but sitting it seems just fine.
Yes you can, but coming from someone who owns Hobies....I was highly impressed by the Dorado and a few other pedal drive kayaks at iCAST. Stay tuned to channel. I will be uploading new iCAST 2017 product videos nearly every day. Tons of new kayaks and gear that folks will love.
+Brian Douglas Hobie's are great but don't let others tell you what is best. Always test for yourself. I will always give an honest opinion if asked. I really liked the Dorado. I have owned multiple Hobie's and they are not without faults. For one I found the deck on the Dorado to be stiffer than the Hobie PA14 which flexed quite a bit. Some flex is good for kayaks but I think Hobie could improve their deck strength. With that said I still obviously love Hobie. I own a $7k one.
wish i could afford something like this. my 1first kayak was a Hobie pro . really miss it. stolen never found . i got it from some older fellow i paid like 900 bucks for it. it was my pride an joy i got my PB bass in it 9 pounds . but after the lost of the Hobie pro. an me getting hurt at work. kinda put the wallet in a dry spot . maybe one day ill get lucky an find a good deal on one again . really miss it . you can have your 20 thousand dollar boats just give me my kayak :) anyways happy fishing to everyone
Thanks for the reply. It appears the Native Watercraft Titan 13.5, a competitor in the same class has a foam filled hull so wondered if Feelfree followed suit.
I've been an Old Town Predator 13 for years. Need something pedal or motor driven cause of shoulder problem. Surgery to come. Was looking at the Predator PDL but this thing looks amazing. However, someone high up from Old Town has said that this is crap made from China.
J bear I never trust other competitors to give honest feedback and reviews on kayaks. I have no vested interest in FeelFree and don’t have any partnership with them. My first kayak was an Old Town so I have lots of love for them. What I can say is the FeelFree products seem quite well made and certainly don’t seem like cheap Chinese products. At times I feel FeelFree might surpass Hobie in quality and feel. My $6.7k Hobie TI has a lot of flex in the top deck. It sometimes feels like I could break it with my 195lbs. The FeelFree products feel solid and well made. The Old Town Predator is a phenomenal craft. You might want to consider the PDL version if you like your Predator. Otherwise I’m sure you can’t go wrong with FeelFree’s Dorado. The prototype looked amazing and I’m sure the production model will be even more refined. I hope to get on one soon.
KayakDIY the Predator PDL was definitely my choice till I saw this one lol. Just a couple hundred more for the Dorado and ability to add a motor drive option in the future, plus all the features and design have me leaning more towards the Dorado. I first asked in an Old Town Predators group I'm in. Someone please tell me that something new and innovative is coming out for Old Town. Where they may be coming out with an interchangeable system with PDL and motor. Plus more and added features. Like other kayak companies, like the new feel free Dorardo. Someone that will tell me to hold my money right now, wait till you see what we're coming out with! As I want to stay with the old town products. The lifetime warranty by old town is just awesome too. However, I got a response from someone high up from Old Town i didn't expect or want to hear lol. Which i was told to go for the Feel Free. For the cheap China crap. Which also probably tells me nothing new is in the works from them either. I hate that there is nothing around me where these type's of kayaks can be demo. Oh the decision!
The kayak is way too busy. I love kayak fishing but there's no deck space when you bring on a fish and there's no place to store the fish. If you have to reach forward to a fish bag you have to reach over a mammoth pedal drive and an engine. At this point you're better off just buying a boat
YAY. $5,000 KAYAK IF YOU ALSO WANT THE MOTOR SYSTEM. We got into the kayak fishing scene which included keeping cost down versus owning a boat. This kayak is nice but its also getting close to a price tag of a small boat.
+devestv you are not alone in that. It certainly isn't for everyone. I never thought I would pay $6,700 for a kayak but I eventually bought the Hobie TI. I love it. Less maintenance, low cost of ownership, and loads of fun. Although you are correct in that many power boats can be had for less. I do think we are hitting a peak of what folks are willing to spend. I think manufacturers need to fill in the gap with more $1,000-2,000 priced pedal kayaks. I know they can make it happen. Might not offer tons of accessories and be plain but think they can do it.
Kayaklure85 I did see some. Can't recall all locations. Think one set was in front of drive and others under seat. I could see based on video why you would inquire. Thanks for the question.
WOW THREE YEARS AGO. I’M BEHIND!! I BET THIS IS REALLY NICE NOW!!!
Thanks for the video. Something tells me are looking into the future of kayak fishing here.
+Headwaters Kayak it felt that way. Very futuristic design. Lots of innovation in design, material choices, and tech.
KayakDIY the cool design of having the track above the kayak itself not touching kayak looks great for putting Plano boxes, lures, pliers, etc in those compartments but it does look like water can come over deck and get in those compartments, was there any discussion about that, is the area going to catch water or does the water disperse out of those compartments somehow. gabe428 that's a great point! I'll run it by Peter the Designer and see what he says. It's still a prototype so thing like this can be addressed!

+Outa ThisWorld heck yeah. However, my favorite idea is till the solar off grid charging.
Instead of a Rudder or with the router steering I would have directional steering with the prop also makes the boat turn and and all that better
A fishing kayak, but no fish hatch. So where do you keep your catch?
Very valid question. Imagine a stringer or third part livewell/fishbag cooler on deck. For the hungry fisherman maybe you eat the fish the go like sushi! Haha.
Its called catch and release...😱 omg shocker. Do you people ever release anything good lord.
ZaC kWinz lol tell that to the guys with 50k redfishers.

Nick Hall you do realize people eat fish? 😂
Growing up, I never heard of catch and release.

How much is something like this

That's quite an intense kayak. Love the videos!
Rule of Thirds it is the most viewed kayak make/model on TH-cam I believe. Pretty loaded with features. Innovative design.

Brian Rasnick can’t go wrong either way. Both would have been great options. Heard the new Dorado is well liked. I owned a PA14 and loved it.
I really like the new Transducer setup on the 2019 PA....
feel free and bonafide must've collabrated on the hull design. i noticed a few simialrities between the two boats.
East_Tex_Will I know! Talked to both Luther from Bonifide and Peter from Feelfree and both had no idea about the other boat. But both agreed that it was the best way to combine speed and stability.
Just checked out their web site and it done not appear they have any dealers out side the EU.
Nice. The forward-most part of the bow by the handle resembles a shark to me. Maybe they should rename it. :)
Liking the Feel Free designs. Just
bought a new 11.5 Lure yesterday.

The dorado is going to be awesome!
I hope they have a finalized one at next iCAST so I can test it on the water!
To feel free you need to add a solar panel option to charge battery as another add on.
+Outa ThisWorld awesome suggestion. Working on that for another kayak of mine. I totally agree!
Has better features that my Native Watercraft Slayer Propel ..... Do they do "Trade-Ins" ????
The motor is driven by a a lithium battery or deep cycle acid battery and how long does the battery last while out on the water.
Im assuming because it's motorized, and peddling...you still have to register it!!
charmnGUY yes, you would likely need to register if you add the optional motor to the pedals. However, if you didn’t register likely you wouldn’t get hassled because the motor isn’t obvious or noticeable. 🤫
Intelligent design👍🍺
How much does it weigh, w/o pedal/motor drive. I guess you can add a rod holder up front, & gaff, net, other rod in back. Do you have different colors, & what are your sizes, under 6’, weight about under 220.
Would be sweet if it had regenerative capability by just peddling.
True. Although I imagine that would hinder smooth operation in pedaling. I want to see MC4 solar cable charging. That way any solar panel on market today could charge battery on trips. I have 200w or flexible solar panels.
KayakDIY only bad thing about solar is more weight. good work out to have extra resistance lol
Idk why but your comment made me imagine one of those things people lay in creeks to generate electricity.
Lawerance Lanham why not?
Jelsma Outdoors ...why not what?
I'll purchase this one as soon as it comes out.
Shouldn’t be much longer. They have prostaff on them already testing them out. I hope to get on one soon and give everyone a third party review. The kayak looked amazing at iCAST.
Not sure the battery box placement is a good idea because you have to reach over it to get into your box/crate
+Chris DeWitt true, that could be a bit of a challenge but with the high seat position and stability I feel it is doable.
KayakDIY m
that battery box is right where i like to store my bait bucket, between the seat and my crate.
Chris DeWitt its better for it to be farther back what i found
storage can be put in the side instead of reaching back
So when is it coming out ? I have the 13.5 , FeelFree will it fit in mine ?
What are the dimensions? that hull looks amazing
Would love to see it in action!
+Code 1 Outdoors us too! They weren't allowing on the water testing by media yet.
I am hoping to purchase this Kayak in the Summer 2018 but I am confussed about the battery setup. The battery in the back that you say runs the lights etc. is extremely large compared to the one in the front that runs the motor. I want to know if I can buy a battery that will run the motor all day?

This is pretty sweet. I really like my Feelfree Lure 11.5 though.
it looks really nice and high tech but what's the price? $4k?

Bass boats are a little more than even the most expensive kayaks out there 😂
@@seabass22 its all a cycle lol expensive kayaks are like cheap bass boats. but expensive bass boats are about the price of a cheap home..
Nice and made me want one until I saw price, you can get a Hobie for that price. But nice Kayak and I like how Feelfree is evolving
Any idea of range on the motor?
Quando vocês vão apresentar esse sonho no Brasil?
how shallow can you go with it?
The secret to storage is too tow some with you,,I usually bring an airhead float tube ,,I can anchor it and come back to it later
Buenss te consulto que clsa de camara usss?
Qual valor. Onde posso comprar um ? Tem com 2 lugares
how fast can this kayak go by peddling it?
+Cephas T no data on that yet. They haven't let any of us media out on it. They also haven't gave factory info on speed.
Good, what is the price of the kayak.

Sorry to hear all that. Did you ever get another kayak or boat?
That's one heavy looking kayak. Freakin amazing though
Magnificent boat! Like 👍
Очень интересный и продуманный дизайн.
Is the hull foam filled?
+Rob G No. it is a traditional rotomolded kayak hull. It does however have blow molded rails on sides to increase storage.
Thanks for the reply. It appears the Native Watercraft Titan 13.5, a competitor in the same class has a foam filled hull so wondered if Feelfree followed suit.
Does it come with a trailer ?
Everyday Adventure it does not come with a trailer.
Ohw my god. This is The one . I want to buy this one. When and how much?
+pepe caleh detail in video description of all our videos. We continue to update as information comes in. Thanks for watching.
What's the weight capacity?
Thats my new dream kayak
Como faço pra ter um desses ?
funny how over time, the inner child takes over- more more more, making things bigger (bloated) kayaks, cars, homes etc...
Geta bowmount minkota on the yak. Works well.
i like this kayak
Tem algum representante desse caiaque no Brazil???
Awesome vid!
When do you stop calling them kayaks. This thing is a beast.
It is a total beast.
KayakDIY Im pedaling an Old Town PDL.
Amei.quanto custa para o consumidor final?sou pescador
Quanto custa em em dólar..esse.kaiake?
i dint see any scupper holes
Kayaklure85 I did see some. Can't recall all locations. Think one set was in front of drive and others under seat. I could see based on video why you would inquire. Thanks for the question.
