Being big Merle and Freddy Powers fans, our whole family has absolutely marvelled over your massive contribution to their work! No doubt you'll find a way to get all that music in your head, onto an instrument again. All the best Clint.
Never give up. I had a stroke and was bed bound, totally paralyzed on my left side. It took a long time but I am at home now and able to play guitar again, after eight years of coming back. . God bless you, Clint, you are a HUGE influence.
I just wish I had known of your wonderful artistry years ago. I ran across your music by accident while browsing through TH-cam. Thank God I found your wonderful recordings and live footage. What a great guitarist you are!! You left us with some of the greatest guitar playing in my opinion. Thank You and God bless you!!
Clint, I am Howard’s Grandkid, and Madelyn’s son. I have admired you for years, and encourage you to get that music out of your head….. anyway you can! Love you! And feel better!
God bless you Clint!! I'm a huge fan. Had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with you at the Dallas Guitar Show 2 years ago. Wishing you the best!!! Happy 4th of July!!!
Clint. You are one of the greatest jazz guitarists/musicians of all time. I was there at UNT back in the 80s, when you were there, even though you weren't there very long, I think. You were beyond any need of music education, and I think you quickly left and went back out on the road, perhaps with Merle. I have been a professional career guitar player and teacher all my life. I am now 61. You are so inspiring, not only as a musician, but also as a human being. Thank you for being you, one of the all-time greatest jazz musicians. Hang in there, Brother. You have brought so much joy into this world.
Merle Haggard came to town when I was a kid and I was forced to go. ( I was a kid!) Clint Strong was on guitar. I have played ever since. Thank you, Mr. Strong. I hope you get better and I have no doubt you can play with one right hand.
My father was a Dallas guitar player named Steve Rodriguez Davis who grew up playing with Leon Rhodes, Jack Petersen, Tom Morrell, Maurice Anderson, and all the Texas greats. I’ve always been a fan of Clints. Praying for you, Clint. God bless you.!
Hi Clint. I Am A Nodody from Nowhere . But I Love Your Playing. Have been a Fan of Mr Merle Haggard. And The Last Two Years after Losing My Husband of 46 year. God bless you buddy. We met once almost 40 years ago. You are my all time favorite guitar player; and you always will be Clint. God bless you my friend. My heart goes out to you brother. I’ll keep praying for you, from Anchorage, AK. 🙏🏻
I remember first hearing your playing, in Merle's band. You about blew me away. I was mesmerized by your playing. You were an influence that led me from country music into playing jazz guitar. Hang in there, Clint. I'm glad that you've got your faith. That's the rock.
Clint I love you brother and you will always be one of the great guitarists I’ve gotten to hear and know in my life ❤ God Bless You💕🙏💕 Let’s ALL PRAY FOR CLINT
God bless you buddy. We met once almost 40 years ago. You are my all time favorite guitar player; and you always will be Clint. God bless you my friend. My heart goes out to you brother. I’ll keep praying for you, from Anchorage, AK. 🙏🏻
I was blessed to play with you Mr. Strong in 1999 or 2000, I was a student at Weatherford College (saxophonist). We were all going crazy of the Marchel Ivery meets Joey Defrancesco album which you played on, I still listen to that album til this day. My friend Charles McCampbell(piano) was taking lessons from you at Guitar Center in Arlington Tx off Cooper St. He took a chance and asked you to play on his gig in the Stock Yards. The gig payed 100$ and you said you would do it for 200$. He came back to school and told me, and we both gave up 50$ of our pay to make sure you got 200$ just for the opportunity to say we played with the great Clint Strong. You were so kind to us and brought out a level of music in us that we didnt even know we had in us. Thank you so much Sir, You're still the greatest!!
My dad, Jack Brown, was a friend of you and your father and a big fan of yours Clint. He told me you could play everything that all his heroes could but better. He said that you were everything that he wanted to be as a guitarist and musician. I wish you a full recovery and to be playing again. Pat Martino went through this too and recovered enough to play again. God bless you.
Hey Clint! I hope you get this message. This is Andy Eulau, bass player. We jammed a whole lot at night while I was studying at NTSU in the early 80s. I’ve thought of you often over the years. You are still an inspiration. Peace and love to you, and keep on keeping on!
God bless you Clint! I have loved your guitar playing for so many years! I pray you'll be be back on that guitar again someday. Please make more videos and tell us more stories of your playing adventures and your guitars!
God bless you Mr. Strong. Your accomplishments on guitar are incredible. I first became familiar with your playing sometime in the eighties and I'm very thankful I did.
I mostly know your work with Freddy Powers and Merle Haggard in the 80s. You were an absolutely amazing player, I hope you're able to recover. The country jazz singer is one of my all time favorite recordings.
It's great to see you, Clint! I have always admired your exceptional guitar playing. It was a pleasure talking with you at NAMM in Nashville back in the 90's. Hang in there buddy. Your guitar playing stills lives on in many TH-cam videos and recordings. We love you!
Clint. It is so good to see you. Just remember how much we love you. You have been a blessing to the world and I hope you know how important you are to us.
Clint I'm part of your musical family....been a fan of yours for 30 year's...met you back stage at Willie's picnic.. Love you and speedy recovery sir ❤️
Clint is a year younger than I am. I used to see him there at Preston/Forest in 1980 when I was sixteen, so Clint had to be at the most fifteen. I always loved Clint's playing. I was really jealous of him back then. My parents still live about a half mile away from where 6051 Club was, in a house that cost $35,000 in 1975.
Clint, You’ve been an inspiration to me since I first saw you with Merle. Had the good fortune to meet you a couple years ago at Dallas show. You were still picking a bit then. I’m glad to see your spirit undiminished. God bless.
CLINT! I love you brother. God bless you. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the House of the Lord... forever
Clint you are one of the greatest bop guitar players to ever do it and source of continued inspiration. Thank you for all the joy your music has brought to your many fans.
Love ya Clint We played together in Tulsa for guitar masters in concert. You killed it ! You’re in my prayers Ernie Durawa Austin. Hope you got my letter
Good to see you on here Clint! Thank you Dale Clark for all you do! You know Clint, I always thought I had afflictions because I could never do what you do in a million years on guitar so I had to learn to play to my limitations never knowing what it is like to have been you before the stroke, where you had zero limitations. You will find a way to play, I'm sure of it! God Bless you and get well soon!
i was working on your licks and now i 'm watching this video i just want to say thank you so much for the inspiration you are and you will be my favorite guitar player wishing you the best from france
I drove up from Waco and visited with Clint today. When I first walked in, I asked him if he knew who I was and he said, "who the heck are you"? It took a few seconds to click because it has been about 35 years since we had seen each other. Clint was my guitar instructor from about 1980 - 1982 and I only saw him once right after he started playing for Merle. I really enjoyed my visit. We swapped a few stories and talked about guitars, and the fact that neither of us were cut out to be a biker. If you get a chance to go by and see him, I know he would appreciate it.
Hey Clint! So good to see you. I remember the first time we met at the UTA Jazz camp, and obviously, we were all blown away by your skills. And you were still in Jr High! I know you have reached the highest Heights of music. Congratulations on all of it! But I gotta say, the best decision you'll ever make is to grow your relationship with God. And His Son. I am beyond thrilled to know you are on that path. I promise you, without reservation, you will get more from that relationship than all of the guitar playing, accolades, television appearances, and all the great musicians you've ever played with. And beyond the great joys ahead as you learn more about Him, and lean more on Him, if you stick with Jesus, you and I will be playing together in heaven. Forever.
Love your playing Clint, I hope you get better soon. Try to play. Pat Martino had a stroke and taught himself all over again. If he did you can do it too! ♥
❤❤❤ you’ve been a huge influence on me! Love from a stranger and listening student. Gosh if I could bet to Texas I would love to get a lesson. Idc if it takes a while you still have so much wisdom to offer, I can only imagine. Thank you again so much❤❤
I know that he had a huge talent for music that he lived out in a performing career. Yes, it's sad that this has happened but I still honor him for all that he accomplished in music. I'm glad he still remembers the players he played with and the instruments that he used. These rehab places/nursing homes aren't easy, I know because my mom is in one now. I can understand why he welcomes visitors.
Being big Merle and Freddy Powers fans, our whole family has absolutely marvelled over your massive contribution to their work!
