if anyone thinks the bass is too "out there" theb thats quite a sham. What a beautiful contribution Billy has here and tone is remarkable. Its jazz guitar with a backing rock session. Absolutely amazing.
imo it is a tiny bit "out there" but if I was to say it was too far I'd be a total hypocrite because my bass tone is VERY similar since I have the exact same drive pedal and it gets used a LOT as both a drive and clean boost for everything I do :P It's literally an integral part of my tone alongside my stage amp :P
Very good description, not what you would expect for a jazz standard. Sheehan is super talented but this tune would have been better if the bass tone were a little more warm.Still enjoyed the jam excellent musicianship by all 3...just my 2¢
Love the way Billy keeps locking back in with the drummer. You could easily think they'd been playing together for years the way they gelled. I hardly heard the guitar, and guitar is my instrument. I get what people say about his tone. Thankfully every bass player doesn't want the same sound at least...
Sheehan's tone is pretty cool....... For certain types of music, that is. there's just too much raspiness and finger noise goin' on for it to take place in this type of music.
+steve mills agreed...i would add that he plays the beginning perfect with pedal tones, creating the perfect tension from hell, but it never goes to a walking bassline....i kept just missing a nice up tempo walk...he's a great musician, and could do it, but it's just not his bag yet...i'd love to see him study jazz...i'm sure he'd be awesome at it.
I kinda like how he is "out there" for this type of music. The fact that it's not typical is what appeals to my ears. He's not TOO harsh. Just right in my opinion.
Billy is such a great musician it's scary. He does more with 4 strings than seems possible. Love to watch him play.

Fuckin sick display!
I would pay good money to see that live
Best performance
My gosh this is just amazing! Clint is spot on, and the bass sound is meat and potatoes.
Incredible, it's like going to school
Sick playing

Nice!!!

badass!
It doesn't surprise me, that there are 8 thumbs down, from the musician wannabe, air guitar players.
great stuff : )
luv the guitar.... nice work. Bass sound is a little 'out' there for this tune.
'out' there for you but not for this tune!

I totally agree Steve. I was thinking the exact same thing.
Beautiful tone on the guitar and amazing artistry and improvisation. Do not care for the bass tone, doesn't work well here.
Tasty.
