- The third entry in the Onimusha series is called Onimusha 3 Demon Siege and it adds a little bit of French and Hollywood Cinematic flair with a character modeled and voiced (in cut scenes) by French actor Jean Reno.
More from Wikipedia: " The story focuses on the returning hero, swordsman Hidemitsu Samanosuke Akechi, who is in his quest to defeat his nemesis, Nobunaga Oda, who wishes to conquer Japan with his army of demons known as Genma. However, Samanosuke changes places with a French officer from the future named Jacques Blanc, and both have to adapt to their new worlds to get rid of Nobunaga and the Genma."

It's called good directing. It's because of the way they pan shots and slide the camera smoothly. they don't overcut and make sure everything is clear in terms of setting and positioning (i.e. the viewer understands the layout of the room, where those who are fighting are situated at any given moment), it's also short and snappy and to the point.
People like you are so , amature in life & have no experience at all how things work or function in an animation , vfx , cgi kind of industries
Big movies have bigger budget , less time , deadlines , alot of pressure on animators & all , plus if the movie will not perform well they won't be able to pay there expenses , won't have the budget to make next movie this leads to partnership with other company which sometimes leads to chaos , than promotions , paying actors , voice actors high fee which leads to low quality content in vfx , 2d , 3d , cgi & all .
Don't know which kinda scene will impress there viewer & it's direction . You can't impress everyone with it there are alot of things to consider when you write , direct , make bigger movies alot of things , in most of the cases animators & writers are helpless cause of deadlines & pressure
The company boss's Don't give a shit about animators , writers employee & all at all nor the raise they deserve
Plus these mini movies perform well bcoz of many reasons , you like to see a lower quality game in higher quality as an imgination so , it's easier to understand major audience in this
You like it when there are more secret quest or in game movies in games & all
That's not the same with movies you are dealing with an unprictable audience here Don't know which dialogue or scene might hurt the audience
In most the cases the boss don't listen to writers & animators
Which now a days Going on with marvel & dc they are not able to predict the audience demand & requests , cause now you'll have to consider the new generation & older generation too
If this same mini movie was a bigger budget movie , I bet most of the onimusha fans would have hated it with guts

The golden age of Capcom,they were kings of cinematography,no one else made scenes as stylish...DMC 3,Resident Evil 4,Onimusha 3.These 3 were oozing Capcom style!!!
To be fair, ROBOT (JJ Abrams' company) did the opening cinematic featuring Samanosuke and Gargant. Capcom did the opening featuring Jaques.

Still one of my fav video game cinematics ever. Still amazing, especially for it’s time.
Has to be one of my faves too. Its one of the only PS2 intros my mind easily defaults to when trying to remember the good'uns. This and the Tenchu 3 intro. I think both series had good intros with nice professional high budget sounding music too. Can't beat a top quality intro when it comes to really getting you pumped for the game. Ah man I just remembered the Zone of The Enders 1-2 intros... It'll all start coming back now lol.

I remember staying a long time at HMV in London and this was on repeat at the PLAYSTATION Section. It was the only time I played PS2 after school for I was broke back then. It still amazes Me everytime I watch this Intro. ♥️💯
I love Onimusha. One of the greatest series and nowadays a hidden gem unfortunately, for the PS2. So much fun evolving my weapons to max level, fighting bosses, exploring, in Samurai era Japan and in France as a Samurai. Great games.
What a game... This and the 1st one (one of our 1st games on PS2) were my faves. Jean Reno seemed out of place at first (I still remember my fams joking about the cameo appearance lol) but eventually we realised if the main Samurai is in France, who would he call first? Exactly, he'd call Jean Reno. Likewise if Onimusha 3 was in Belgium he'd probably call Jean Claude Van Damn.

I have just bought this game again as I started collecting Ps2 games again about 2 years ago. I can't wait for it to arrive.
So it turns out Gargant was the one who killed Kaede at Yamazaki Province. Really adds a new layer of intensity to their duel in this intro.
The choreography was done by Donnie Yen himself, and the intro was directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the Godzilla Minus One guy.

Wait a sec. Don't forget that FMV cutscenes are basically just a video. The amazing production quality you see on FMV has NOTHING to do with the power of the end console. It ONLY has to do with the power of the PC's which MADE the CGI. Your PS2 here is merely "playing a recorded video" which is "totally normal" (any CD console will read a CD). For context: Even a non 3D CD console from 1992'ish (EG the Philips CD-i) could play this intro (given the right codecs) and it'd look the same.
I've preferred PlayStation since PS1 came out, but I'd be doing myself a disservice if I tried to argue that GC was weaker than PS2 (it makes us look silly because the numbers show it isn't true). GC was capable of VFX that PS2 wasn't (eg special "hair & fur shaders"), and most 3D geometry was rendered "smoother" on GC. The latter is also true when you compare N64 to PS1: the 3D on N64 looked smoother. BUT: GC only had a couple games I loved, and N64 had maybe 5 games I loved. PS1 & PS2 had stacks of games I loved. Sony has clearly had the best games selection since 1995. Rivals could beat Sony's graphics, but nobody (not even $$$ Microsoft!) could ever beat their line-up!
