The Ruger 10/22 Mag is crazy expensive now (if you can even find a used one for sale) and truth be told, as a shooter they really aren't worth that amount of $ people are asking for them. There are more reliable less expensive alternatives today rather than spending so much for the used and discontinued Ruger.
Just ordered this rifle. The fact that you can switch out the trigger with other after market Ruger 10/22 target triggers, and also the magazine makes it a cool little rifle. Plus the removable barrel feature.

But as you know with a bit of tweaking, a standard 10/22 can be made into a decent shooter well under half that group size. You are dead on correct, the ammo is probably causing a lot of your spread. Just found your channel and sub'd. Have shot rimfire 22 for several (too many) decades... still love it.

I love my pws summit, just wish it extracted reliably every time. Pws barrel was excellent. Taken many squirrels and some raccoons with it. CCI quiet with a suppressor is about as Hollywood quiet as I’ve found.
Great vid as usual--i have a comment on the video you did on short /long barrel 22 shotshells. You proved that longer the shot cup is in contact with rifeling larger the pattern, this being said the short barrel shotguns like shockwave might benefit from a rifeled (slug barrel?) since the 14 inch barrel they have still gives a tighter than desirable pattern for close quarter home defense. This might make a good topic for a competent utuber like you. Cheers

Man, I remember my .22’s as a kid being accurate with about any ammo. Was it just grandiose memories, or has the ammo quality dropped off as well as the rifle manufacturing? I mean nothing was safe under a hundred yards, now it seems that I have to have a high dollar rifle and match ammo to do the same thing.
I've always wondered why no company hasn't made a miniature version of the old Swiss straight pull bolts for .22 magnum and above since it is a locked breech design and very fast shooting. Another action you probably haven't seen is the Marlin short throw lever action that they used over a half century ago with their .22 magnum rifles. I had one as a kid. Very little lever travel needed to load the next round. You don't even need to take your trigger finger off the trigger; just flick the lever down and back with two fingers while still holding on to the pistol grip. Those too would work well with a suppression and they are accurate rifles.
Good friend from work has a beautiful straight pull swiss. Don't ask me the model and caliber though because they are convoluted and I can never remember 😆 I was so grateful when he invited me to shoot it. First time I put hands on a straight pull and it was beautiful in form and function.

That action is similar to PCP Air rifles. Getting those results with that ammo at 100 yards is not bad at all. You need to try other ammo until you get the best results. My Lithgow does not like either of those but does like CCI Standard, SK Rifle Match, Elley Match and Lapua Midas +.
This could be REALLY nice for entry level / production class NRL22. As long as it is accurate. It would be nice if it had a better trigger out of the box though.
Replaced awful stock Hammerli trigger with 10/22 Timney rated at 2.75 pounds, gun went to 20% failure to fire light strikes with CCI-SV. Same Timney trigger and ammo runs flawlessly in my 10/22. 😂

I have shot match rifle since I was 15. I am 54 now federal gold is by far the worst match ammo ever made. Please try a quality match ammo. Love the gun. I would love to see what some eley would do.
Those are actually pretty good groups for the ammunition you were shooting... Just out of curiosity have you tried any of the Lapua sister company SK ammo? I do some plinking with their ammunition and have had amazing success with its reliability. Especially for groups... Typically using this for silhouette of handshooting at a hundred and thirty yards, Hitting very small targets with great consistency. Nothing wrong with running green tag, I also have some gold medal. Match left over from the old days but I don't use it too often.
I have some Federal Gold Medal Target I bought back in 1987 that I have good results with. I bought 5000 rounds and still have about 1250 rounds left. A lot of people don't like it but it is consistently 2" or so at 50 yards out of my .22 hunting rifles with iron sights or 4x scopes.
Saw this at Cabela's last night. I was previously interested in the Volquartsen Summit until i held it and ran the action, and it was very sticky and clunky. The Hammerli straight pull was MUCH smoother than the Summit. I wonder if the one on the shelf was just a lemon because Volquartsen has a great reputation. Have you compared the Summit to this action?
Something was wrong with the Volquartsen. The Summit is WAY smoother and more accurate than this rifle. I have both and have compared them both. However, I do have several hundred rounds through my Summits.
Where is this made, with the soso accuracy and the choice between black and grey with black at about 50 bucks cheaper like the Springfield 2020 22lr choices, is this made in Turkey by Retay?

Noted, and I agree completely 👌
Love the features but the groups......heh. My Savage II FV's do better for less than half the moolah.
I'll keep my eye on it for a couple years and decide then. LOVE the features.
Positive remark - it shoots better than the Springfield 2020.
Nice, but I think I’ll wait until Savage decides to make one of these to accompany their CF hunting rifles!
Are you going to check out the new ruger super wrangler I bought one and I love it its like a working man's single six
I did a video on one a year ago. 👍
@22plinkster I must have missed it I just got the 22 lr and 22 mag version
I have shot match rifle since I was 15. I am 54 now federal gold is by far the worst match ammo ever made. Please try a quality match ammo. Love the gun. I would love to see what some eley would do.
You're thinking of Federal Gold Medal Match. That is TOTALLY different ammo. I was using Federal Gold Medal "ULTRA" Match.
Nice features!
I thought the owners manual said it would come with an adapter for the BX-25 22lr mag. Did you get one with yours?
So barrel attachment is pretty much an air line connector?
Have you tried to single load it ...nothing in the mag ?
My old CZ 452 Varmint prefers one at a time.
Can you only use the rotary 10 rounders? Or the bx 15 or 25s as well?
Mossberg 715p video
What suppressor is that? Great vid, thanks.
Green tag is as close as you can get to match without being match. Lol my RPR really likes it. But SK match is what she performs best with.
Made in Germany
@@22plinkster Thanks, i will pick one up when i find one, i usually get most of the newer ones, i have the 2020 and i tested 32 types of ammo and actually found 8 types that shot under 1/2 inch at 50 yds, you really have to try all that you can.
