This is the Evanescence EP Outtake version. I'd say this version is very rare to come across, not many people know this version/have ever heard of it AND this is the ORIGINAL "My Immortal" and the FIRST written song of "My Immortal."
This is ONE of the MOST popular songs ever recorded by Evanescence. It lasts the ENTIRE span of Evanescence's recording history. It is credited as the fourth song ever written for Evanescence. Ben Moody wrote the original in full when he was just 15 years old. It is the second song that he wrote for the band. The first song was "Understanding."
In the later versions of the song, Amy Lee is credited to have written the middle eight and coinciding piano part to the song. It's believed that David Hodges arranged or played the piano accompaniment for the 2003 album Fallen version of the song. There are seven different recorded versions of the song. The 2003 album Fallen version of the song has strings by composer Graeme Revell.
This song has many different interpretations. According to Ben the song is about a spirit staying with you after its death, and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone. Ben dedicated the song along with the 2003 album Fallen, to his grandfather.

She said in the interview she was only 19, just out of highschool and didn't like the song at all then but the record company saw something in the song and rightly so. She said she didn't like the song for very long time until she performed the song few times in the concert.
This song has been my favourite song since it was released back in 2003
