the actual games are scary... they scare you by making you wonder whos gonna die next, and when... psychological suspense is kinda part of the horror genre
the THH transitions are underrated. It just feels empty without any music watching as your favorites become nothing but a black shape, and the sound effects at the start of the transitions give off an ominous vibe
I agree. Not to mention, when the Silhouettes of each character is lit up, it makes sense that they'd be full of life. Once they black out, it makes sense that there's no more life inside that person. It feels the most befitting for Danganronpa, when compared to the future games. Is that just me.

One thing that always bothered me was how they showed Ibuki being eliminated before Hiyoko. They established that Hiyoko was killed first, but I guess it’s more or less meant to reflect the order of the body discoveries rather than the actual deaths. (Although, this would make the counter inaccurate, as it implies Hiyoko was among the eleven remaining students)
@@karaasame9426 ibuki had blood on her soles. They concluded she was still alive and walking after hiyoko got killed. But then the cutscene shows mikan strangling ibuki when hiyoko walked in. So who knows. That just goes to show how stupid that case was. It would have literally been impossible for mikan to pull off what she did that morning. She ran outta the conf room to dispose of the robe who knows where. Run downstairs with the camera. Go all the way to the music venue to trash the camera. Rip the wallpaper, store it in the closet. Break a drumstick. GLUE THE WHOLE DOOR EDGE. (By this time Hajime would have been coming back to the venue, because he did not take long at the motel, and they for sure would've seen Mikan from the distance, even of she was already making her way back to the hospital). Meet up with Fujuhiko (she would have been drenched in sweat from all that running/quick actions), and meet back up with Hajime and Chiaki which were only there for a short while before Mikan and Fuyuhiko arrived. That trial was a whole ass mess.

Honestly, Goodbye Despair's transitions were the most chilling and you can't convince me otherwise. The whole atmosphere makes you feel the real DESPAIR, the white-shaded scenery, the number of students dropping, the sound it makes when a black silhouette turns pink and the "Danganronpa" at the end... is wonderfully disturbing. I literally got goosebumps when the screen started glitching in Chapter 5 and the last thing we could pay attention to are the black silhouettes of the 5 survivors before everything was disconnected. Perfect

Besides the obvious things about SDR2's Chapter 5's ending, I think the most hard hitting thing has to be- -how the ones who end up dead are Nagito and Chiaki - those who on the image stand the closest to Hajime, both on his left and right side.
This really shows how quick the students drop like flies every chapter passes- Yet the unsettling part is that you would still feel like the majority of the class is still here even after Chapter 4 when more than half of the class is already dead.
DR2's Surviving Students was honestly the best, it just had this really creepy feel to it, and it gave me chills. I also like the sound effect that plays when the number of students go down, and the "Danganronpa" at the end just makes it even more creepy. It scared me when I first played the game. I'm glad they decided to go with a creepy type of feel for the chapter endscreens. DRV3 goes in second, I just liked what they did with the "Surviving Students" though I wished they added a sound effect for when the number of students went down. (I also liked how they changed the colors for each of the chapters, that was nice.) And DR1 goes in third, I like the background noise, and they did a nice touch with the blood. Out of all of these though, I find DR2's really good.
If you pay close attention, The Korean letters that say 'Hope' and 'Despair' on chapter 5, begin to glitch out (In english is says Smile at Hope in the name of Despair)
It's interesting to me visually how at the end of DRV3, Shuichi is furthest from his surviving classmates and is completely isolated on the left the moment Kokichi dies.
I especially love the SDR2 version of this screen. The tense music, combined with the dull sound that plays when the amount of students remaining lowers; along with the silhouette of each character turning pink, almost as if their getting marked off. It’s especially gut wrenching in the chapter 5 one. We had just lost 2 of the most important characters in the game. Nagito, who brutally committed suicide; and Chiaki, who was not only executed, but we found out our closest ally was the traitor all along. When the chapter finally comes to an end, the screen is glitchy and distorted as the 2 silhouettes next to Hajime turn pink.

My fav has got to be the second game version, I even thought about an alternative to The 6th chapter transition where it goes like this: starts like the other ones, but then it glitches out and everyone disapears exept for Hajime, later on Hajime gets replaced/turns into Izuru making reference to the game ending and the mastermind exposing
this has to be one of my favourite parts of the games. it just shows you how brutal these killing games are. especially after chapter 3, loosing 3 students...scary

The actual horror part of danganronpa is playing the daily life, interacting with students while having an anxiety attack thinking who's going to betray you. Then a murder occurs and this transition make it sink into you that people died. (except for 2-3, this chapter's ending was strangely hopeful)

this is how id rank them 3: New Danganronpa V3 i love how eerie the background noise is as well as the students silhouettes looking really cool, as well as the font everything is in. one thing to note is the color changes with each chapter. however, theres no sound when the student number ticks down. which takes from some of the drama. 2: Danganronpa 1 i like the blood splatters here at the end of each chapter and the light with shadows that appears with the students. the dead ones turning black is a very nice touch in my eyes as it contrasts with the light 1: Super Danganronpa 2 this has the best qualities of the previous two cutscenes. the unsettling vibe of V3s and the sounds of 1s. but by far the best thing here is the clashing of metal when a student is shown to die. its the only sound that really feels like someone has died and makes you feel even more uneasy. also the woman saying "danganronpa" at the end just adds to it more.
DR1 had the most chilling chapter end for the surviving students to me. I had always wondered why I didn't see a youtube video of them but now I am happy
Watching the numbers slowly drop has to be probably one of my favorite(and occasionally least favorite) part of the series. It's just a moment of "oh man they're not coming back" or(if you're me) "*violent screams* NOOOOO NAGITO WHYYYYYY"
I'm over here just hoping (no pun intended) that there would be 4th game where there is a new cast but with every other student from the previous games and have a huge story with a lot of characters imagine how many trials and executions they'll be.
Dangaropa 1 and 2 transitions. Really gave me a unsettling feeling. You take away the jokes and the music for a minute. And you sit back. You start to process just what happened and how brutal that was. Only to start to wonder who is next?
They just HAVE to eliminate the best characters it really hit me so hard just to see your favorite character die, I guess this is what happens if you get too attached.
You know every time I saw these screens after the chapters it makes me think. What if the Danganronpa chapters were released at different times/dates like what the telltale games did.

Unpopular opinion, V3’s transitions are cooler without the noise. I kind of like it soundless because it further adds to the creepyness. No noise necessary. Just eerie music and the empty silhouettes of characters.
The prologue end really gives off the chills since no one is dead and you know it wont stay like that for long. Even worse, you dont know who's gonna die first. Edit: The ambiance doesn't help either
Chapter 3 of danganronpa 2 hurts me the most because Ibuki and Hyoiko are my to favorite characters in 2. And yet they get killed and the same Chapter, at least they are near each other for their deaths. Damn now I'm sad typing this.

My fav has got to be the second game version, I even thought about an alternative to The 6th chapter transition where it goes like this: starts like the other ones, but then it glitches out and everyone disapears exept for Hajime, later on Hajime gets replaced/turns into Izuru making reference to the game ending and the mastermind exposing

The actual horror part of danganronpa is playing the daily life, interacting with students while having an anxiety attack thinking who's going to betray you. Then a murder occurs and this transition make it sink into you that people died. (except for 2-3, this chapter's ending was strangely hopeful)

3: New Danganronpa V3
i love how eerie the background noise is as well as the students silhouettes looking really cool, as well as the font everything is in. one thing to note is the color changes with each chapter. however, theres no sound when the student number ticks down. which takes from some of the drama.
2: Danganronpa 1
i like the blood splatters here at the end of each chapter and the light with shadows that appears with the students. the dead ones turning black is a very nice touch in my eyes as it contrasts with the light
1: Super Danganronpa 2
this has the best qualities of the previous two cutscenes. the unsettling vibe of V3s and the sounds of 1s. but by far the best thing here is the clashing of metal when a student is shown to die. its the only sound that really feels like someone has died and makes you feel even more uneasy. also the woman saying "danganronpa" at the end just adds to it more.
DR1 had the most chilling chapter end for the surviving students to me. I had always wondered why I didn't see a youtube video of them but now I am happy

Watching the numbers slowly drop has to be probably one of my favorite(and occasionally least favorite) part of the series. It's just a moment of "oh man they're not coming back" or(if you're me) "*violent screams* NOOOOO NAGITO WHYYYYYY"

I'm over here just hoping (no pun intended) that there would be 4th game where there is a new cast but with every other student from the previous games and have a huge story with a lot of characters imagine how many trials and executions they'll be.
It’s an interesting idea, but the game would be way too long, and would mess with the timeline

Dangaropa 1 and 2 transitions. Really gave me a unsettling feeling. You take away the jokes and the music for a minute. And you sit back. You start to process just what happened and how brutal that was. Only to start to wonder who is next?

They just HAVE to eliminate the best characters it really hit me so hard just to see your favorite character die, I guess this is what happens if you get too attached.
What I noticed in V3 is that even though Shuichi didn't wear his hat anymore in Chapter 2 - 6, his outline still includes his hat.

DR2 Chapter 5 cutscene was the best. The way it got all glitchy and how they were both next to Hajime is just chef's kiss
You know every time I saw these screens after the chapters it makes me think. What if the Danganronpa chapters were released at different times/dates like what the telltale games did.

Unpopular opinion, V3’s transitions are cooler without the noise. I kind of like it soundless because it further adds to the creepyness. No noise necessary. Just eerie music and the empty silhouettes of characters.

V3 still breaks my heart bc i love all the characters from it, there isnt one i hate. So playing it finally and seeing who all died was upsetting
The prologue end really gives off the chills since no one is dead and you know it wont stay like that for long. Even worse, you dont know who's gonna die first.

Chapter 3 of danganronpa 2 hurts me the most because Ibuki and Hyoiko are my to favorite characters in 2. And yet they get killed and the same Chapter, at least they are near each other for their deaths. Damn now I'm sad typing this.
Makes me wonder what a Danganronpa game would be like if there was a class trial but only with the students that survived at the end of each game.
