The new Defender is probably the coolest SUV we've driven so far this year! We should be getting our hands on the 2-door Defender 90 later for review. Until then, we are curious to know... Do you guys prefer look of the 4-door Defender 110 or 2-Door Defender 90?

Love them both, but I am leaning towards the six cylinder 2 door as I prefer the looks of the 90 and rarely travel with more than one other person with me.

34:29 By "no cruise control" you mean no adaptive cruise, or it legit does not have a basic cruise control at base model for $45,000? I thought the times of no cruise in vehicles are long gone. If that's the case, that's laughable.

The Defender continues to be a unique vehicle. It's tough to see the divide between people who like the older models versus those who like the newer one. At the end of the day, this vehicle is a beast. And the customization factor is out of this world. Glad to see the Defender reincarnated for another generation. -North44Rovers

The long wheelbase gives it excellent approach and departure angles.
The rear door would be a tailgate not a liftgate as it doesn’t. It opens to the right because it’s designed for RHD countries. They could have made it open the other way in LHD countries but clearly didn’t bother to engineer 2 designs (even though they have both L and R dashboards and steering setups). The panels on the tops sides of the bonnet (hood) are plastic checkerplate not diamond plated - they pay homage to the original Defender and aren’t rated to stand on.
Pretty sure the 90 has cruise control - they all do (probably just not adaptive/radar option on the base model).
Note there are also diesel options but it seems the US doesn’t get them. The bar across the roof will be for structural rigidity.

Stunning, but I'm not over L/R reliability issues from my much-loved--in fact my fave daily driver out of the more than 60 vehicles I've owned--2003 Discovery SE7. Perfect mix of fun, utility, stability, power & entry-level lux. That said, it literally was in the shop every 4-6 wks for the year I kept it. The last time it wouldn't start--less than a yr old. Had it towed in & traded in for a--wait for it--2004 Jag XJ. I know, I know, but I never had any issues with it other than the expected massive depreciation.

Great video on the new LR Defender. I am in the process of looking at purchasing a 110 /X-Dynamic HSE. The only thing I heard in your video review that needs clarification is that the 110 model does not offer an option for "sliding and reclining rear seats." Actually, there is an option for "sliding and reclining rear seats" that comes in the 5 +2 seat configuration. That's the only reason why I'm looking at the 5 +2 seater. Thanks

But considering the reliability record of Land Rover vehicles in the past, I'd much rather wait for the Bronco with the turbo v6. It won't cost as much, and should be more capable for off roading than a damn near $100K Defender would be.

They go well with the 2 million dollar homes in the gated communities. :) The status stigma helps keep the home values up.

I love the new Defender and like both the 90 and 110. However, they are priced way too high and the build quality is suspect. Maybe buy one 2 years old for half price is the way to go. Like every other Land Rover/Range Rover product. Just make sure you have a great extended warranty that includes towing.

This is how each vehicle came out.
    1. Jeep Wrangler
    2. Land Rover Defender
    3. Ford Bronco

They should make an SVX offroad supercharged model, Ford should do a Bronco Raptor ( I am sure it will come because it's based on the T6 platform or the Ranger platform and the Ranger has Raptor form. And besides, the rival FCA has a model to compete in that segment...The Wrangler 392!)

Lucky you you didn’t drive the original defender. It was a stool on wheels - or so it felt. Very sluggish, very uncomfortable, very stiff.

There is no way Land Rover was ‘influenced’ or ‘prompted’ by the Jeep Wrangler to develop the Defender. Ever since the previous Defender went out of production (only a few years ago) LR have been working on a replacement.

Land Rover is advertising the panoramic sunroof on the Rover as fixed and sliding and in the Defender as sliding. No fixed option. So that makes sense why it’s not one piece. I’m curious to see how it opens up.

@@joelmgroverr7780 just curious if opens above the roof and back or opens down and slides between the roof and headliner like my current panoramic sunroof. Im more fond of the ones that don’t open like mine.
