    It is a pleasure to watch your videos. Extra tips of do's and dont's are worth the watch. My confidence builds up when I watch your videos. I wish I can get a lift to raise the machine.

    Thank you for this. Although just a bit different, your explanation allowed me to replace the disc on my old craftsman 8/25 and now drives like a champ.

    Looks pretty simple. Thanks for the video. One of these days I'd like a set of ratcheting wrenches for tight spots like the ones on that snow blower.

    Dony, must thank you again... '94 MTD wasn't driving. At first I thought i just had to tighten the cable. But it still wasn't driving. Then I realized the plate that the friction disc turns on was stopping when I engaged the drive. Then I realized the problem was the drive belt tensioner spring was broken, so there was no tension on the belt and it couldn't drive the plate. As a fix, I stretched the first winding of the spring and made a new hook on it. Problem solved! Lot's of crazy heavy snow out there today. Ugh.... You saved my ass once again :-)

    Good videos. The factory put blue loctite on the bolts that hold the shaft in place to keep them from vibrating loose over time. THANKS FOR YOUR WORK.

    I appreciate your videos. I need to see the procedure for removal of the impeller from a Husqvarna / Poulan Pro snowblower. I have some bent blades and will replace with a new piece. I have a general idea about removal, but I figured I would ask the expert.

    On a Troy built 2690, it has a track. Do you have to take the track off to change the friction wheel and disc?

    It wouldn't hurt to change out the two bearings at the same time. Saves doing it later on.

    Hello, my name is Erwin...I have been following your training videos for about 9 yrs now! Very detailed and helpful. Thank you for that! In 2010, I was able to fix the auger gear assembly of my Yardman snowblower (track) 316E733E3401.
    But now I’m stuck with a different problem...the machine won’t propel FWD or REV...I followed every step that you showed in you tube (changed the drive cable, friction wheel, auger and drive belts) and still can’t get it to drive FWD or REV. Do you have any other tips?!?
    Maybe the transmission gears are seized?!?

    Excellent repair....very simple...with the right tools, time and lighting. Thanks...what do you do for a living,...I'm curious. You're not a mechanic...are you?
    Also....did you drain the oil out of the machine first...as not to flood the combustion chamber with oil...or just set the machine down...and wait for gravity?

  • @glenounderhill3081
    @glenounderhill3081 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think you just saved me about $200 at my local small engine repair crook. :-D Thank you!
    One question: Is there any danger of having the engine oil seep into places you don't want it when you flip the unit over on its face?

    • @donyboy73
      @donyboy73  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not really, make sure the oil cap is tight. also you may want drain a bit of fuel first if it leaks out the gas cap

  • @clintatch1

    I want to replace the rubber ring on the friction disk but when I went to buy one the repair shop told me that they only sell the complete assembly. can you tell me where I can get a rubber ring only? It's for an MTD .

  • @BillKnoch

    need some help... I don't see any instruction to replace the friction disc. Mine is rather gouged up from running metal to metal after the rubber came off. How do I judge whether to replace disc?

    I checked Canadian tire here in B.C. they don't sell snow blower parts. If you could help me out that would be great. The machine is a 1999 MTD 10.5 hp model 31AE5B3H515 thanks

    is your camera reversed on the recording? my friction wheel is on the left side, urs is on the right

  • @GOLDLUCK2U
    @GOLDLUCK2U 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a Poulan Pro PB30 that no longer goes forward or reverse . The rubber wheel seems to make contact with the friction disc enough that the tires will move as long as there is no weight on the machine. It seems like the mechanism with the springs next to the disc , if pushed gives it a little more power, but not curtain if I'm correct. I'm not mechanically inclined. I uploaded a video showing the disc moving and me stopping the movement of the tires with just my hands. Any advice? Video is on my channel Goldluck2u. Thanks in advance!

    Any video on how to replace the drive plate (not the drive disk with rubber). My drive disk wore out and started rubbing hard against the drive plate. Both are trashed.

      +Edward Padilla not yet, it's best to separate the blower to do that

    Total noob question, but I couldn't really find a good answer online... what exactly is the friction disk? I noticed it on my snowblower (with a bad transmission), and I never really knew what it did... thanks!
