What a difference a day can make.
Baby Maisy is feeling well enough to spend a half an hour outside in the warm sunshine and although she's a long way from going out full time, brief sojourns are good for both mind and body.
Readily lapping smoothie and juice and sleeping in a warm humidicrib is Maisy's life for the present until she is strong enough to transition to the main flight aviary in preparation for her release back to the wild.

The other juvies in the aviary had best watch out! With that much sass once she's recovered her strength she's going to be the boss of the aviary in no time flat!

Wow, Maisy the sassiest of pants is feeling well enough to cage fight the much larger bats. The sun is making her stronger and she'll be better in no time with your fabulous care. Maisy is adorable.

I love how the bigger bats seem to know not to fight back or mess with the little ones, even when they're being snippy.
Well…little Maisy makes up for her diminutive size in battitude, she is a real little battler. Taking on two much bigger bats at once, and taking no guff. She has the kind of genes that need to be passed on. It is SO good to see her doing this good in one day, she will be caught up in no time. The others really wanted to check her out, but that was a pretty emphatic NO, beauty blended with spice.🥂🖤🇨🇦
It’s early evening here in Seattle at the moment … seeing Maisy out in the sunshine and working on being a bat is just the cherry on top of my day!

She may be tiny but she stands her ground! Maisy has a strong left thumb poke and a quick right swing but watch out for those EYES because she will stare you down and bat her big battie eyelashes and make you fall completely in love with her ❤😅🎉!!!

A lovely wing stretch at the end to get sun on her beautiful wings. Maisy has a good swift right and then a left swing at nosy bats. The juvies look so big in comparison, but she is doing well. Good work! ❤🦇🇨🇦

You said "it's mind and body all the way with flying foxes ...", so can this mean that she may be mourning the absence of her mum, or is that a stretch?
oh yes absolutely. She’s lost her mum, she’s alone in an unforgiving world and she then gets picked up by giant predators. It must be absolutely terrifying. But flying foxes are highly intelligent and they understand fairly quickly that we mean them no harm, we give them nice things to eat and drink and we won’t hurt them.
