@@immortalHK I really like how Meta Knight, who has a Spanish accent in the anime, has a distinct taste in food that aligns with that of the public of Spain. They tend to like the sweeter stuff for breakfast.

Master Hand appeared in amazing mirror as a mini boss that gives you the "Smash" ability, which is basically just his moveset from smash bros.
Master hand also appears in almost every game over sequence in Kirby games.
I wish that was in more games. It's so good.

Don’t forget about Crazy hand too (both of em together ended up being the boss to Candy Constellation!) But yeah! I love that Master and Crazy hand are still being used in the Kirby universe. I hope it’s not just a short game and they come out with DLC ^^

I'm surprised people don't notice this but HAL Labs loves Kirby way more than Nintendo loves Mario. Mario got a ROM of Super Mario Allstars on a disk and a bunch of games that you can't even play anymore because they were on a time limit. What does Kirby get? A bunch of games, Kirby's Dream Collection, Kirby playing cards, and a WHOLE KIRBY CAFE. Kirby IS the mascot.

Clearly. I remember there was a Forgotten Land interview of the director saying the team love Kirby so much that they apparently toned down his Game Over animation just because "they really feel bad seeing Kirby get hurt."

The 'Master Hand-like' hands have appeared in a lot of Kirby games as the cursor in the Game Over screen, however in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, both Master Hand and Crazy Hand appeared as bosses, and they could give you the Smash copy ability, which has only ever made one more appearance as a secret copy ability in Kirby Planet Robobot
Also, the game over hands have been called “Master Hand” in the game files since return to dreamland
It's also part of the copy ability challenge rooms that are part of Kirby Dream Collection on the Wii.

He does secretly eat parfaits. Weird funny little lore tidbit from the official Kirby Cafe menu by the way. There's an item called "Meta Knight's Secret Late Night Parfait". Meta Knight does eat sweet stuff, but hides the fact he does it to keep his cool image.
I do agree though that for once, this is a Kirby spin-off where having only Kirby playable is necessary (I mean, Kirby is my favorite Kirby character, but games like Kirby: Battle Royale and Kirby Fighters 2 could certainly use more characters from across the franchise). This plays to Kirby's personality so specifically. Like, if the other characters were shrunk like this, they'd be worried. Kirby though is focused on cake.
Master Hand is actually sort of derived from a floating hand in Kirby actually. A hand that shows up in the one place you and most others have probably never seen, the Game Over screen, to wake Kirby up. Since Game Overs are retired as of Forgotten Land, this is the hand's new job, and it's got a partner now too. Fun fact though, in the game files of more recent games like Kirby Star Allies, the hand is specifically referred to as "MasterHand", so I guess it really is Master Hand.

Also, in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Master Hand is a miniboss. Like, it's straight up Master Hand, it's even referred to as such in the game and it has its attacks from Smash, and once you defeat it you can inhale it and get the Smash ability, which is basically Kirby's Smash moveset.

If waddle dees are ai, then why can't there be waddle dee? And it's obvious that King dedede would be a perfect character to add in also. Fans would love meta knight to be added in too, even if his inclusion would be a little bit confusing.
Still, there's potential for this game and I already can tell I like it.

I mean, Pikmin got a game on 3DS... It's fair game for all I know.
He wasn't complaining about the amount of Kirby games, he was joking about how Kirby gets all the games and their fans are having a good time while Pikmin fans get none.
Pikmin has also been getting games (mostly spinoffs, like Kirby), it's not Hal's nor Kirby fans's fault he can't enjoy the Pikmin spinoffs nintendo has been releasing, and sure, it's less than what Kirby's been getting, but that's also because they've been worked on by completely different teams.
This just seems petty to me.

And like I already explained, he was jokingly complaining about how Kirby fans have been getting lots of kirby content on switch as opposed to Pikmin fans who have been getting pretty much nothing.

I get it, but jokes like that often come from a real place, I too am frustrated that some franchises like FE and Xenoblade do get more attention than others, but do I voice my complaints with "I'm just jokingly complaining guys, chill"? not really, I could but for what purpose? I get Arlo is very passionate about the stuff he loves and I do love his content for that, but some opinions are best kept to oneselves, especially if you know it's going to cause some friction and you have to apend a "lol, just kidding!" label to soften the punch (which spoilers, often doesn't).
Do I think he is being a bit petty some times? sure, but that doesn't mean I think his views are invalid, or that I don't like the dude. and honestly, I don't think he cares that people are being this upset at this one video as much as say, his Hey! Pikmin video. It's mostly other people being upset at other people for being upset at the video, which I find hilarious.
I do admit this video irks me to some degree, mostly that it just isn't helping anyone and comes off as uncessesary venting, specially towards a team and fandom that has nothing to do with Pikmin.
"Kirby fans get everything and Pikmin fans get nothing" sounds a bit... missinformed, mostly because what Kirby fans have been getting are mostly spin-offs, and from what I've gathered, many avid Kirby fans aren't too happy about some of them, even with main-line games like Star Allies. I bet you a dollar that if it was Pikmin getting a fighting, a fall-guys style, and a co-op platformer fighter spin-off, Arlo would still complain because it's not "Pikmin enough" and I get it, I would too.
Pikmin fans have been getting at least some things, for one, Pikmin 3 Deluxe is amazeballs despite being a port, it adds enough content imo to be considered a Pikmin 3.5 of sorts, also Pikmin has a mobile game and Kirby doesn't, I guess Pikmin fans get everything and Kirby fans get nothing (note that I'm jokingly complaining here, just so you know) and Pikmin Bloom is an interesting enough experience imo.
Also, is just me or is it weird that Arlo is comparing Kirby to Pikmin here? if it was Starfox or F-Zero or even Metroid I'd understand, those are main-stays at Nintendo but they do lack recent games and love, but Kirby is often regarded as one of those more solid pillars that you expect to see in almost every console. Maybe it's just that Arlo isn't as well-versed in Kirby stuff, which I can excuse.
I hope you get where people are coming from and why it often these videos feel tiresome for many, or not... jk ;D

hal is a whole company who basically only makes kirby, they're not in charge of non-kirby activities. The last time they made a non-kirby game was Part Time UFO (which was good and I did enjoy it).
But for real, what's the Mario team up to? Obviously they did Bowser's Fury but that was a while ago now right?
HAL also makes BoxBoy (which got a new game a few years back) and technically Eggerland (which has been dead for around two decades now and was a NES/PC title).
They also played a large role in the Smash Bros series, especially Brawl and 4 iirc.
Edit: Forgot to mention that HAL played an important part in developing the Earthbound series, especially via Satoru Iwata.
Part time UFO on switch is actually an enhanced port. Their latest non-Kirby game that wasn’t a port is Box boy+Box Girl
No, not really. And especially not in terms of development time. It was mid February last year, if they do announce anything, it may be why they're pushing the direct to a fall date.

HAL also did BoxBoy & Part-Time UFO (though an enhanced Switch port of the game) when it wasn't just Kirby games though. So they do vary a bit from time to time. It's just Kirby's really popular among HAL's catalog and to Nintendo.

I hope this has gyro controls. This would work well having the gyro to simulate Kirby Tilt N' Tumble. BUT at the same time, I don't want it to have only gyro, because people will have some trouble with gyro still.

I used Google Translate with the text from Nintendo's japanese website and I think it says that Kirby is controlled with the joystick because Dream Buffet is supposed to be an accessible action game.

@@kajsjoqvist5274 honestly you can’t blame Kirby you gotta blame Metroid since the team that was doing DK is also the team that does Metroid Prime. Lmao they need more staff or a different studio should try working on one or the other. HAL is pretty much only Kirby sometimes something smaller. Gamefreak is mostly just Pokemon. The studio that did new DK and Metroid Prime just isn’t staffed nor able to handle two largish IPs. They also do a bunch of other things like possibly a fabled Star Fox game that got canceled for Metroid

ik we got a deluxe and a niantic pokemon go esq game, but its almost pikmins 22nd anniversary, and we havent had a new main series game in 9 years, meanwhile splatoon over there with being created and 3 games in 7 years. In all fairness, us pikmin fans dont have it as bad as you starfox and mother fans, but we still have it pretty bad.
In a lot of the Kirby games when you game over a white glove would be the selection to continue or quit. After you made your selection depending on what you pick he'll either wake up Kirby or get him like a blanket to help him sleep easier. I'm also pretty sure that those hands appear as enemies and Kirby's Mass attack but I might be misremembering that.

In some Kirby games the hands will appear in the pause menu or to wake Kirby up after a continue during the game over screen. And Master Hand was an boss fight during Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
After forgotten land came out they literally told us that they had more plans for Kirby's 30th anniversary and that we should expect another game this year. So I wasn't surprised about this announcement at all.

To those who don't know, Epic Games bought out Fall Guys, made it free to play, took it off Steam, introduced aggressive, extortionate, and arguably predatory monetization tactics, made it so you need the Epic Games Store malware to even play it, and basically just ruined it for a lot of people, including me and my friends. I've been desperately looking around for an online multiplayer platformer game to fill in the void it left. I tried Stumble Guys, I didn't like it, I was just about to give up, and now Nintendo comes in with this little gem!
I’m just glad fall guys is multiplatform and finally on Xbox so I can play it. I might give this game a chance but it just looks kinda like a not so good ripoff of fall guys so lol.

I love how everyone was convinced that we would get a Direct because it “was around E3 time”. It fascinates me that people don’t get these video game companies don’t want to be beholden to no one. They want to do whatever they want, when they want. The ONLY guarantee we have is that at least one big game will be released around Oct-Nov. Other than that, all bets are off.
E3 has been a thing since the N64 days, it’s pretty reasonable to expect a direct just given that they’ve always made announcements. I don’t personally care to see anything until they’re ready to announce stuff, but I think at least providing some transparency about a potential direct would be nice for clarifications sake so people don’t go crazy with leaks. If they want to break out of the E3 cycle because it isn’t even a thing anymore then I think that should at least be communicated rather than inferred
Especially since it's Nintendo... they're more unpredictable than anyone else, still people believe all those rumors which mostly turn out to be false. 😅

the master hands were already a thing. im probably one of many but back in AT LEAST Kirby and the Amazing mirror they had master hand and crazy hand as both a main boss as well as mini bosses and then the "smash" powerup has made re-appearances in secret rooms in some of the other kirby games iirc including robobot. and even before amazing mirror iirc the master hand has appeared in death continue screens as far back as the first game
A 4th Kirby labelled F-Zero Fans is actually in the thumbnail, it's just so hungry and small it isn't visible.
This game was a surprise! This might end up being quite an entertaining and adorable party game! Always nice to see games that just look simple and full of joy still appear!

When I first watched the trailer I thought the waddle dees were other kirbys, so I *literally* thought this was just kirby fall guys.
To me it looks way more interesting than the 100-player concept of fall guys because it looks like a great couch multi-player game for my kids, my wife and me
The fact that Kirby was going to use a fork to eat a cake instead of just inhaling it whole really reveals how much he has grown and matured as a character 👍
I think the reason why Kirby gets so much is because the games have always been experimental. Minigames to test out ideas that get fleshed out more and some become standalone.

Anyway, this game is the kind of cute, silly, and experimental fun spinoff that I’ve been wanting. I love spinoffs like Air Ride and Fighters 2, but I’ve been wanting some more wacky ones like Dream Course and Tilt ‘n’ Tumble, the one where HAL goes, “we have a weird idea, let’s give it a Kirby-themed coat of paint.”
And even though a lot of people feel like its “too soon,” I’m not worried about the quality or anything, since spinoffs are usually handled by a separate, smaller team and therefore don’t take away anything from the main series. Not to mention this isn’t the first time we’ve had back-to-back release and announcements (Rainbow Curse was announced only a few months after Triple Deluxe’s Japanese release, the announcement of which was followed by the release of Kirby Triple Deluxe’s expanded subgames only two months later. Also, from 2017-2018, we got a new mainline game and THREE Kirby spinoffs).

@@elistewart3170 No... but it seems that we're getting more Kirby mainline games/spin-offs and/or sequels, while most of Mario's mainline games are ports (and sometimes additions to ports), some Mario games are just half baked sports games and we get the good spin-offs like Mario+Rabbids.

HAL cares about Kirby because of the fanservice, content and the sheer creativity that they do for his games.

This is the first Kirby spin-off in a long while that feels like the old snes to ds spin-off games, not quite on the scale of Canvas Curse or Mass Attack but this is just about there with that originality and quality!
“Every Nintendo fan has a series they love that gets nothing.” I totally hear ya, for me it’s the Mario and Luigi games, we haven’t had a new one in ages and I’m really hoping someday Nintendo will throw the series a bone and give us a new one. At least I still get good Kirby games though.

It's his 30th. The series is as old as I am, yet I won't be 30 until later this year though.
@@DonutBurger Because some series got nothing for theirs. I don't recall anything happening for Donkey Kong last year for 40, or anything for F-Zero in 2020 when it turned 30.

I think their role here is more like in...at least Kirby Super Star (and maybe beforehand too) where it tucks Kirby into bed if he selects "Quit" on the Game Over screen

Didnt Arlo say the same "you get everything" statement about Xenoblade fans and X3? I mean, both Kirby and Xenoblade have dedicated studios that pretty much only make those games, so yeah that does create a steady output. HAL manages to balance doing both experimental stuff and core games, so kudos to them. Nintendo's EAD groups I think do a lot of experimenting and tinkering, and many of those ideas never see the light of day.
Then his statement still stands. Xenoblade and Kirby get everything, lol.

I’m pretty excited about this, it looks really cute! I’m slowly becoming a kirby fan with all these games! Also master and crazy hand have appeared in kirby as a boss in amazing mirror which gives you his smash moveset, other then that I’m not sure if they appeared in other Kirby’s until now.

Second: When I first saw Kirby looking at the cake, I thought "alright, back to what the 3DS did and have expanded versions of all the 3DS Kirby mini games, but this time on Switch", cause it kind of reminded me of Kirby looking at stuff in Forgotten Lands. But then I saw the gameplay and was like "oh...didn't expect that, but I'm happy" and yes, Fall Guys did come to mind for a bit. One thing I will say is I hope it's more than 4 players and/or 4 players means split screen as well. We'll see what happens.

That's the real bittersweet behind this announcement. With the huge amount of recycling from Dream Course, Air Ride, and Tilt and Tumble it looks like this will be their excuse for no sequel to any of those games ever probably.
Still an awesome looking game and I may even end up preferring it to the others.

Hal 30th Kirby anniversary is being so amazing to such quality visuals to new faces major comebacks to old Kirby games this is just so much that…I can’t put into worth’s but I just have to say Hal is amazing
If we're all about talking about franchises that need more representation, for the love of all that is good in this world, please port Kid Icarus Uprising to the Switch. I'd enjoy a new game too but I just need more of that sweet sweet game.
Kid Icarus honestly deserves so much more than it's getting. Uprising is still low-key one of the absolute best video games on the 3DS.
Fall Guys on Switch has many issues because the switch can't handle 60 players at once. It's a miracle that they managed to bring it to switch at all. And because of that issue they wouldn't make the Kirby Spin Off like that. Though, 8 players in total like in Smash Bros would've been cool. They might do it with an update? Even if not, it was clearly meant to be a normal 4 players multiplayer game. I don't think it wanted to be a Fall Guys clone. It's just something cute that fits into the franchise. It will still be fun! And if the demand is high enough, there will be updates for us.
They announced this game on my birthday and I'm so excited for it!

Here: Kirby Dream Buffet has a lot of little extras, that aren't known widely. The copy abilities are called Copy Food Abilities, and the two Kirbys we see, are: Ice Cream and Chocolate. The stages shown are Ice cream, Hamburger, and Kirby cake themed.

I prefer 4-8 players over large amounts of players. Sadly this isn't an 8 player game but I feel like the amount of contestants in Fall Guys is too high for me. This feels more party friendly for me though I'm not sure I'll play it.
I imagine it's because of splitscreen. You can't really do 8 player splitscreen. BUT I AM CERTAIN that there will be online multiplayer with 8+ people. It just makes sense especially with all of the Waddle Dees.
6:08 yes it is a thing already in the Kirby games in Kirby and the amazing mirror in that game you can fight crazy hand and master hand as a boss fight but you can fight only master hand on its own but with on master hand it’s considered a mini boss fight in the game also you can consume Master hand and they give a special copy ability that gives you Kirby’s smash move set in the Kirby game and it’s considered very OP copy ability in this Kirby game
The last 3 kirby games each got 2 eshop exclusive companion games:
Triple deluxe got Kirby fighters and Dedede’s drum dash,
Planet Robobot got Team Kirby clash and Kirby’s Blowout Blast,
and Star allies got sequels to Kirbys fighters and Kirby clash (would’ve much rather had sequels to the other 2 instead though)
It’s not that surprising that forgotten land is now getting a companion game, but I wonder if there will be a second one.
