RegAlytics Weekly Update-7/10/2024

Once upon a time, many years ago. I was the editor of the Charger Chatter, which was the newspaper for my elementary school.
I enjoyed the role, but later when I got to college, I tried writing for my university newspaper. A new administrator was taking the helm as provost. My job was to meet him and write an article about him, which I did.
However (and I remember this distinctly), the editor changed the entire article and made it sound like a terrible controversy, when in fact, it wasn’t.
Lessons learned: (1) News sells when it sensationalized because plain old facts are for textbooks (which are boring), and (2) being a journalist wasn’t for me because facts are super interesting on their own, without any sensationalism!!!
