He basically did describe it anyway. Just hold it in place with a screwdriver, put the cord in and tie and then when you remove the screwdriver it'd pull in the cord winding it in.

I pulled the rope right out of my weed whip this morning. Now instead of bashing it against a tree until I feel better and scaring off my family members I can fix it and look like a hero to all of them. You saved my marriage and my family! Hat's off!

Hey, Steve. Thank you. My hubby is so busy, our push mower is at the bottom of his to-do list. I do what I can to reduce his list, and one of those is fixing/replacing the pull cord I broke. He got me a new cord, but no time to get to it. Now I'm off to do this and mow the back yard. Fingers crossed I do this right.

I've owned my landscape business for 36 years and been in the business 42 years and never saw anybody repair a starter the way you just did! I can't believe how well your method works! We always just kind of guessed at the length of the rope, how many turns to turn the spring. and then we would wrestle with the knots and threading like dealing with an rabid overcaffeinated earthworm. Thank you so much!

I just come in to take a look at anything you're up to.... Kinda like a neighbour just dropping into a mate's shed to catch up and spin a story or two or just look at gear. My neighbour went away gold prospecting for three weeks and he gave me his mulcher Briggs Stratton and he pulled it a few times and it barely started for him.... And so next day I gave it a few pulls and it gave a couple of coughs before stopping and next pull broke the start cord.... Love your videos... Neat trick to pull the cord through an extra foot and then knot it.

Steve I always fix my own tools been doing tree work for 30 years and I always work on my own tools unless I get to a point where I just can't figure it out. I've wound them ropes up a lot of different ways pretty much depends on the situation at the time. hold them with Vise grip so they don't go back in using the screwdriver method so it doesn't unwind oh yeah but I have never seen it done like that I'm going to have to try that next time, unbelievable man, hats off. Almost Every time I see one of your channels I learn something new. But what I like about your show is even if I do know what you're doing and I have done it the same way . You still have an unbiased way of explaining the scenario for the people who really don't have a clue. You're very thorough an I enjoy watching how you teach people. You explain it so well even a caveman can do it.

Thanks so much for this, we had a power outage here in NH the other day and upon trying to start the generator the rope broke. It was only the first nine inches that broke off so in that "emergency situation" I was able to use what was left to make it function thanks to your video. Thank you, Steve! The pull cord on my snow blower has broken twice at the knot and I used the screwdriver method to hold it in place. The problem with doing it that way is the tension on the cord is always a little looser than I'd like. Your method restores the cord tension the way it came from the factory.

Great tip/hack there buddy. Subscribed :) Question: The wife was running the mower (older B&S Classic 35). Tank and carb fell off. Bolts vibrated loose. I put it back together again, but it won't run. At best it fires a bit out of the air intake. I can't figure out what the hell is wrong. Any ideas? If there's supposed to be a rubber O-ring on the carb sealing the carb and intake stud, then she lost it.

Dude, I've been working in the yard all day, in the hot sun.
Just had a nice cold beer, trying to figure out if I bring my mower into the repair shop or.... do I try and fix this myself...
I"m not even sure if my model is similar to the ones you showed, but I'm just about to open her up. find out and fix it myself !!!
Hope my like and comment helped you out!
    Great video, thank you!

another spot on video. The only problem I had on my cub cadet push mower was getting the end of the string through both holes that didn't line up very well. I rigged up part of a small wire flag to get it through.
