When most people speak in tongues, the do not repeat the same sound over and over , nor do they repeat the same phrase over and over. Whenever I hear repetition, I wonder if it really is tongues. There should be a flow of different words, and although you will hear some of the same words repeated, the same phrase will not usually be repeated over and over. The effect of speaking in tongues is peace. I don't feel power when I speak in tongues so much, as I do the peace of God. Yes there is some sense of power as well as feeling energized, but primarily I feel peace, the peace of God that comes by this gift, and it's a rest, a being at ease, something like an energetic ease, or rest.

Yes speaking in tongues helps break through a stony shell of hearts. The worship manifestations do this, they work to this end as well as build us up. When people begin to hear interpretation and prophecy, and more and more people speak in tongues, it changes a church. It can really set a church on fire spiritually, with an energy of love and peace of the Lord. Old things pass away, and everything can become new. His gifts are for us today and they are gifts of life and peace. Being connected to him by the Spirit of God, in ways we haven't seen in the past, brings new life to our assemblies.

This is tremendous, I have being hearing God and kept dismissing it - not realizing. I did what Mike taught and the response is great. persons kept telling me how accurate the word I gave them was. I am stirred up to go much deeper and higher in spiritual gifts.
The only thing I am against is the part when he prayed for the receiving of the gift and then instantly started to pray in tongues. In my opinion and according to what is recorded in the Bible is that you first receive the baptism and the evidence of that is power and witness unto Jesus, then as the Holy Spirit gives you utterance you speak it out not way around.
Mike, you have taught me some things about the gifts. The greatest thing you have provided is the opportunity to see them in operation with explanations of what was going on. I sadly say that I have been a Pentecostal for many years and have only seen the gift if tongues regularly used. I have heard a little prophecy and a few healings. Again, thank you.

Aninias broke the law of sacrifice. Its a curse to give less than promised. Same thing happened in second half of 1Cor11 when those who promised to give food and drink to the poor and ate it b4 they turned up. They ended up getting sick and some died.
I know that activating the spirit of prophecy is biblical because its done in the old testament. However, I don't understand how you can "activate" other gifts. Spiritual gifts are given as GOD wills....not as we "will." We can desire them, but I didn't think you could activate other gifts. My understanding is that we cannot control the Holy Spirit, it is the Holy Spirit that controls us.
Staj 2016 Galations 5:17 fruit of the Spirit is "self control" if someone around you railing and wailing and have no control that's not the holy spirit but a demonic manifestation...and yes you can have more than one gift most people have two or three or all...but remember as Christians we all should be able to evangelized, teach and preach of course pray " intereced"... that is 3 of the gift right there be bless

I often wondered what this all looked like at that day of Pentecost. They went from sitting, to standing (Acts 2:2, Acts 2:14) so what happened in between? Well there was what was going on with their speaking in tongues, and the "noised abroad" part. I guess my question is, Did they walk anywhere? I suppose I will never in this world know how this all happened, but I did get enough out of it to receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues.

Bill M words of knowledge are pieces of information revealed to a believer by the Spirit of God usually for the purpose of encouragement or of helping identify root causes of problems a person has. A psychic works with a different source a familiar spirit that is not from God but is demonic. See Acts 16:16 The primary difference is the spiritual source of the “intuition”
This seemed to be a good explanation to me that ...God imparts to your spirit...see John 3:6 where Jesus said, ...."that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

This preacher doesn’t understand the tongues spoken on the day of Pentecost. These tongues spoken was to people of that language because they understood.
