Hello there! I'm new to modding and It seems I might have done something wrong? When you start mentioning profiles I can't seem to find that tab anywhere on my left side when I'm in Vortex, am I doing something wrong? The closest thing I found was that it would be the case if I didn't have Fallout New Vegas managed but for me it is I didn't get a Profiles tab, any idea what I may be doing wrong here?
Ok here's where we can start. Make sure you are currently managing new vegas. Then navigate to the settings tab on the left of the screen. Under INTERFACE > ADVANCED make sure ENABLE PROFILE MANAGEMENT is enabled. Let me know the results.

one question I have, I see a lot of people say MO2 is better than Vortex but they never elaborate on why, could you explain why someone might like MO2 over Vortex?
Here's my take and I know other have varying opinions and experiences. Until filing this video, I used mo2 for new vegas. Vortex for skyrim and fallout 4. I've used vortex since it was called nexus mod manager. Back then there were issues with some mods and mod authors even stated that they recommend mo2 or another mod manager. Vortex has a lot of stuff that makes it easier for newbies to get into modding but also stuff like Loot and their weird loading system (load after, load before instead of just being a numbered load order) makes it more difficult to manage. Vortex: The mod manager was created around the idea of LOOT managing the load order, making modding seem simple and easy (see below why that's a bad idea). While the option to manually order plugins exists, it's designed to be as unintuitive as possible - the user needs to select the position of every plugin from a dropdown menu, based on relative position to other mods (load X after Y, load X before Z), or use a graphical, node based interface. Additionally, it does not track generated files, and the deployment logic can be confusing to the user. LOOT is a feature on vortex that seems cool at first, but actually fucks your game up after more than a few mods are added. The LOOT doesn't really have any idea about your mods and their inner structure - it just orders them based on tags in a masterlist managed by volunteers, meaning that it's impossible to account for every single mod out there. The main issue regarding LOOT in Fallout New Vegas modding is that its masterlist is heavily outdated and doesn't account for most mods added and updated in recent years, leading to completely incorrect sorting. Incorrect load order will lead to overwriting or breaking features from mods. From personal experience I used Vortex first when I started learning, crashed so many times and I couldn't understand the load order whatsoever because of the stupid load after, load before system. MO2 has not crashed once after adding even more mods (220 vs 50 on vortex), and it was actually easier to learn.
If a mod requires us to download one of the mods we already downloaded and moved into the game directory, do we install the mod again through vortex? (NVSE, JIIP, NVAC)
When I was downloading the New Vegas script extender it told me I also needed to have the right VC redistributable. after downloading it, do I just run it and then it's good?
Hey really good vid btw just wanted to ask a quick question about the getislaa part where i need the number 2 to show up nvse shows the 6 but when i want to type in the getislaa i get a message in the command box that says: SCRIPTS: Script 'SysWindowCompileAndRun' , line 1: Script command "getislaa" not found. just wanted to know if this is essential and if i need to get this fixed to 2 so that i can run mods hoping to get a response soon and sry for the spelling mistakes.

Don’t worry. Everything’s gonna be fine I just do this to get rid of files and then reinstall the game on steam all that shit.
there are a lot of forums and threads that get to the nitty gritty, but ill keep it super brief. I've used both. Nexus used to use NMM before vortex. NMM was trash. Vortex is significantly better in every aspect. Mo2 was my go to but with how far vortex has come, its been my primary mod manager for everything from new Vegas, to fo4, Skyrim and oblivion, even kingdom come: deliverance. been using it exclusively for a couple years with no regrets.
I've been streaming a few times since this fresh install. We were live for almost 5 hours and we only had one crash. That's was due to a mod location, but after reloading a save and heading back we were fine. Honest to God, I've never played this game in such a stable state

Yes and no. It's a bit different to set up on the deck itself. There is another option that's a bit easier if you have all you need. Using a dock, mouse and keyboard, and external ssd, you can run windows on the ssd with a normal install of new vegas and vortex. Just boot the steam deck into the windows install and use it like any other pc. I will be working on a steam deck tutorial but can't say when exactly.

No need to download again! Should be good to go as long as you have all the other prerequisites
When I was downloading the New Vegas script extender it told me I also needed to have the right VC redistributable. after downloading it, do I just run it and then it's good?
That should be all you need to do, yes
Hey really good vid btw just wanted to ask a quick question about the getislaa part where i need the number 2 to show up nvse shows the 6 but when i want to type in the getislaa i get a message in the command box that says: SCRIPTS: Script 'SysWindowCompileAndRun' , line 1:
Script command "getislaa" not found. just wanted to know if this is essential and if i need to get this fixed to 2 so that i can run mods hoping to get a response soon and sry for the spelling mistakes.
Sorry for the delay, I was actually streaming. I just pinned a count with the same issue. There are a few things that could be happening rn and several solutions are found in the pinned comment thread. Please check there, try the several methods, and let me know what happens!
@@RawTactics1 my bad G didnt run it as a administrator. I come from germany and constantly had problems to run the game and now it works like a charm you're the goat
@@pat1312-l8q glad you got it working bro!
does this work in the epic games version of nv?
Use MO2 and the Viva New Vegas guide, its the best way to get epic games NV modded
I don't have experience with epic, myself. I've heard the same as what Nano also suggested.
If I could give any advice it would be SLOW DOWN. Thanks though brother.
Its saying the script for getislaa isnt found what should i do because i followed everything to a T
That would either mean nvse isn't installed or mean 4gb patch need to be reinstalled. Make sure you're running it as administrator when you install
@@RawTactics1 i did keep getting a pop up saying to make sure nvse was installed but i dont know how i would check that besides seeing the unzipped file
@@mr.dinkle3330 and you're launching the game via vortex. And nvse is set as the primary launch option?
@@RawTactics1 correct, i did the process twice and i cant figure out where i wouldve messed up
@@mr.dinkle3330 tbh I really don't know either. This is the first time hearing anything like this if everything is done correctly. I'm about to go live, but I'll try to do some research on this later. Keep me updated wirh any changes. Mayne we could help someone else eventually
Well, now I have to master reset my PC because I tried doing this without this guide fucked up some thing and so I’m gonna master reset it have everything cleaned up then follow this guy and then see if that can work. Don’t worry. Everything’s gonna be fine I just do this to get rid of files and then reinstall the game on steam all that shit.
@Hunter-ld8qt good luck man. Hoping for positive results!
@@RawTactics1 yeah God files scare me
is vortex essential, why not mo2?
there are a lot of forums and threads that get to the nitty gritty, but ill keep it super brief. I've used both. Nexus used to use NMM before vortex. NMM was trash. Vortex is significantly better in every aspect. Mo2 was my go to but with how far vortex has come, its been my primary mod manager for everything from new Vegas, to fo4, Skyrim and oblivion, even kingdom come: deliverance. been using it exclusively for a couple years with no regrets.
is archiveinvalidation invalidated not mandatory?
If you have a steam deck can you please show how to do it on there ?
Of course! I was planning to do that later on, but you're not the only one requesting. I'll start production on that video this coming week
hii! i jus wanna know if i'll still be able to get achievements
@flightofthecr_ws i belive you're fine in that regard! Fallout 4 and skyrim disable achievements but not the older games
@@RawTactics1 thank u :3
helped so muchhhhh and the invite for the discord does not work

Sorry, last one expired!
How often does it crash for u?
I've been streaming a few times since this fresh install. We were live for almost 5 hours and we only had one crash. That's was due to a mod location, but after reloading a save and heading back we were fine. Honest to God, I've never played this game in such a stable state
@@RawTactics1 I remember playing it some years back with a whole guide on how not to crash and it still crashed every 2 hours,i really want to play it again but cant follow viva new vegas due being german and having no idea about modding, installing or anything else related to a PC,ur guide doesnt seem too hard to follow but im still sceptical about it,everyone is saying that u need viva new vegas in order for it not to crash but if u only had 1 crash 5 hours in that sounds good to me,appreciate u replying back, think im gonna try downloading it again and see where it goes
@@kano1652 I completely understand your skepticism! Ive heard mixed things on viva new vegas and cant soeak from experience with it as ive never checked it out due to the mixed feedback. The live stream is still up on my channel if you'd like to see it running smoothly with the base I show you how to set up here. Also, please don't be scared to come back here or on discord if you're having issues. I can't fix everything, but myself and others on discord will help guide you as much as possible.
@@RawTactics1 Yea i will check it out and come back here if i need some help in the following days 💪🏼
@@RawTactics1 Followed ur guide and was playing for 2 hours without any problems besides light lagging but thats because my pc is older, installed some mods like b42 for some animations but none of them worked even tho nothing is conflicting, character kit mod didnt worked either, after some fixes it fixed the faces but now the bodies are pink...aah thats fallout for i guess, not feeling it to download and fix stuff for hours just to play 1hour 😂 Appreciate the guide tho, first time the game felt stable
YIPPIE!
Does this also work on the steam deck??
@@RawTactics1 thx for the answer im just a big noob when it Comes to modding and stuff so i rather wait for a steam deck guide😅😅
@@hardbassjunkie8667 lol you know, I may get to work on than sooner than I was planning. Gotta help you out!
yeahh buddy ur cooked your description still says 2024
@ThisisZeffery lol no worries. The guide hasn't changed in the slightest and helped thousands. I'll update the thumbnail and description tho
OP’s comment yells “I peaked in high school and haven’t gone anywhere since”
virus in the NVAC folder
Man can you please help me figure this out this is the second video i have watched. i did everything step by step in the first tutorial i watched i didnt even get the nvse version to pop up in the game but with yours i did the problem i had was the getislaa. I followed this tutorial step by step and i just deletred every thing to do with the game and the mods. I reinstalled fo and started it up like you said and redownloaded nvse but i noticed when you extracted it on yours you have 9 files in the extracted folder i only have 6 of those when i extract it and i am using 7zip just like you. these ar the only files i have in order
"nvse_1_4.dll"
"nvse_1_4.pdb"
"nvse_editor_1_4.dll
"nvse_steam_loader.dll"
"nvse_loader.exe"
and the even though today was my first time ever installing all of these for some reason it has a drop down thing that says " a long time ago" then has the "data" folder under that. please help me.
now when i do it and get to the nvtf part to put it in the plugins folder it doesnt even exist
It's mid day for me here in Korea, just saw this and your other message. Please checked the pin comment and read thru that thread. I belive there is info there that can help
When I go to DL the NVSE, it says I am missing x86 Visual C++ Redistributable. I have since downloaded and installed it and restarted, but it still says I a missing it. Any help?
Does this guide work for Xbox store ultimate edition? I bought it, but i started the download via gamepass
@@KirbyKitten sadly I don't think you can mod game pass games
@@RawTactics1 God damn it, gonna reinstall then, shouldn't be all the different since i did buy it
@KirbyKitten yea it's really a different case per installer. Steam vs gog vs epic all require different methods of install and modding
@@RawTactics1 Gotta sync steam and xbox then, steam for the win
