This Incredible Watch Is A BARGAIN Complication | Watchfinder & Co.

  • For the true watch connoisseur-I’m talking the big bucks collector here, the kind of guy who has a separate room for his watches-there are three pillars of interest that make up a true high horology watch. One, provenance, two, quality and three, complication. You want those things, you’re going to pay a pretty penny for them. A watch that chimes from Patek Philippe, for example? You’d better sell your house, because you’ll need all that and possibly a little bit more to fund it. But what if there were a shortcut, a hack if you will, to get you those three pillars for the cost of, say, a Rolex Daytona?

@@albertoroveda5135 I happen to find him entertaining, I don't agree with everything he shoots out, like GS in what you said. He knows his stuff, and do agree with him on Casio, if you can't afford an expensive or mid tier watch, and if willing to go quartz, Casio's are god tier. Even their meh stuff like the Duro's, the hands hit the mark, watches over 10x the cost don't do. If you have a Rolex, Omega, Patek, Choppard etal. One can do far worse than having a G-Shock and even more so, solar powered one as a beater,

Boy, did they get angry at me at the Patek Philippe museum in Geneva when I corrected them that they are not the last remaining family-owned watchmaker in Geneva because there is also Chopard. Trying to dismiss my statement, they told me off in front of the entire group of visitors that this was different without explaining how Chopard was different. I let them save face (at the expense of losing mine) and therefore didn’t ask them how Chopard was different and also why it shouldn’t be counted as a Geneva-based watchmaker… I know Chopard moved to Geneva in the 1930s but one can still call them Geneva-based and family-owned. I have owned and own watches by both companies and I feel both have deserved their place in the world of high horology.

It's amazing to see all of the imperfections, such as small stains on one of the (train) wheels @ 6:15, or how perlage that might look sparklingly beautiful and evenly finished to the naked eye, is actually quite variable in depth and consistency when viewed in macro. I wonder if completely handmade movements that cost US$500K and above have as many small variations in finishing or if they are done to an even higher standard of cosmetic finishing. Anyone know?
